The Drake is always gonna be class and iconic to us. We stayed for my wifes bday, hoping to order in and just enjoy our beautiful view of Lake Shore Drive & Lake. Unfortunately everything was closed on a Friday night. No bar, no Hotel restaurant and no room service. Didnt even have a small fridge to choose drinks from or store some drinks. Its mustve been a cost decision since the hotel seemed so empty. Really hope it never changes but they need to reach out w marketing or something to get people to stay again. View- 10 ⭐️ Hospitality- 5 (just asking a guy cleaning the bar where we could eat, we got an angry snap) Cost- 5 cant justify the cost for what we got. We'll probably go back to staying at the InterCon

The Drake is a wonderful historic hotel in a perfect Chicago location. In addition to its large rooms with lake views they also have 2 on site restaurants. We enjoyed drinks or dinner at the Coq d’Or 3 of the 4 nights of our stay. Our visit was business related and the front desk could not have been more accommodating with their help scanning and sending documents. There is no doubt we will return to the Drake on our next visit.

It was a nice place, parking was a little hectic but it's Chicago. The valet was worth it. I am still waiting for my deposit to be refunded. But other than that it was nice and a beautiful view of the Sears tower at night

The Drake Hotel is a one of kind unique experience that is definitely one to attend. Upon arriving at steet level, you will be geeeted by valet. Our valet attendant, Chris, was full of energy & life, making arriving extremely welcoming. Upon entering the building, to the left of the revolving doors is ground level access to elevators, shops & numerous restaurants, including Coq D'Or. Up the stairs leads to a huge foyer, with another grand staircase leading to their higher end restaurant Palm Court (did not attend on this visit, as hours were conflicting with our schedule) & the front desk. The front desk attendees our extremely helpful & friendly. Take a moment to truly embrace the elegance this hotel has to offer upon entering. All of first floor is open to general public with out hotel stay. The elevators are older style, & fit the aesthetics of the hotel. We stayed on the 8th floor. Upon enterinf the room, its very tall ceilings make it feel very grand. The rooms feel older style royalty. The room we were in consisted of a center entertainment stand with a decently large TV. The room also had 2 bathrooms on either side of the room. It consisted of a couch on the right side of the room, with an executive desk next to it. Opposite those is a king size bed, with a dresser next to the walk in closet. The thermostat is on the wall as soon as ypu open the room door. The heater is old school radiators, that are a tad noisy upon activating heat, but are very warm.

There was a dirty pair of underwear left in our room from the previous guests. I called to have them come and get it and when we left the room, they were supposed to clean it. We came back from the concert and they changed the linens and the dirty pair of underwear were still left in the chair and we had to call guest Services again..

Location is excellent, and the staff is wonderful. The main areas of the hotel (lobby, etc) are beautiful. Our room was lacking and in need of a deep clean and refresh. The wallpaper was peeling, chain lock was broken off, thick layer of dust on headboards, lamps, etc.

From the minute I checked in and got to my room, the entire experience was horrible. The room was dirty, sheets were soiled, one bath towel was given to me. The front desk people were like robots. I talked with the hotel manager when I checked out and he gave me a small discount. The entire stay should have been credited. The Drake was awful and a huge waste of money. Travelers beware!

The common areas are beautiful. Fresh, fragrant flowers. Very classy feel. The rooms left much to be desired. The room I was put in was near a fire escape and was significantly smaller than my friends room, three doors down (single queen rooms). I was directly facing another room which was odd as well. The a/c worked well, however every time it was about to turn off, it made an extremely loud noise-it startled me out of my sleep so many times I had to turn it off overnight. Since there were no similar rooms, I would have had to upgrade. The rooms could use some updating as well. There was a board mounted into the wall which was holding the handle to flush the toilet. Pipes were visible. Shower didn’t drain quickly, so you stand in water. The pressure of the shower is comparable to a firehouse, so good luck standing directly underneath. Also, no microwave or refrigerator included ($30 if you want a fridge, lol). All in all, pretty hotel to visit but I wouldn’t recommend staying.

Mid September stay. Room on floor 9 with wonderful north LSD and Oak Street Beach view. Okay room. Seemed always chilly regardless of thermostat setting. Bath tub a bit rusty and well worn. Services were great. A drink at the bar is highly recommended.

Hotel lobby was very nice. Staff were excellent and helpful. The room was old. The bed was very uncomfortable I could feel springs on edges. The lake view was nice but traffic noise was bad. The walls were thin we could hear toilet flush in other room and shower running.

Beautiful hotel in a great location that makes it easy to walk everywhere. Beds are EXTREMELY comfy, we slept great and would wake up feeling well rested after a 10-12 hour day out on the town. Soundproof rooms, we never heard our neighbors once during our stay!

I spent $345 for our room and it was tiny and antiquated. I’m sure they have better rooms, but we were pretty disappointed. The location was great though. We wanted to be on the mag mile so we were happy with that aspect!

The beds are uncomfortably hard. If you like an extra hard mattress you might like the beds. There are no mini fridges in the rooms even though there is a space for one in the cabinet under the TV.

It was a good stay for lollapalooza but was just a bit disappointed with service— we gave our bags to be brought to the room and it took over 30 minutes to arrive after my friend called the front desk to remind them as well as housekeeping being slightly disorganized in asking if we wanted service specifically on our last day we were woken up by house keeping at 8:30 and then received another knock from housekeeping after 10am which is odd considering we check out at 12pm so that was just a bit inconvenient— i completely understand the hotel must have been at high occupancy with the festival and cubs games— just wish the experience was a bit better

Check in guy was preoccupied. Restaurants service was poor. Manager was no help. Water pressure was nonexistent. Bell hops ignored customers and hung out doing nothing.

The Hotel is Chicago History, the staff is simply amazing. My wife Carrie and I enjoyed it immensely! It’s walking distance to everything in the City. You should go with someone you LOVE it’s a perfect place for couples and families!

The woman who works the night shift at the front desk is unbelievably rude. I’m not sure if she’s racist, homophobic, or both, but she could have cost someone their life. I tried to get her assistance in getting aide for someone that I believed was having a stroke. She was “too busy” and told me to handle it on my own. When I told her she was rude her response was “well, that’s your opinion, and we all know what they say about those”. So long as her nasty self is there, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!

The Drake is a Grand Dame venue: wide hallways, spacious rooms, upscale toiletries, smooth sheets, vast lake views, gracious staff, sparkling chandeliers, burgeoning floral arrangements. Just a few feet off the Mag Mile, The Drake has the best location for shopping: steps from Bloomingdale’s, American Girl, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany’s, Nordstrom.

In spite of information online, and in the room ipad and the button on the phone, they do NOT do room service. Breakfast options are ONLY grab and go at their coffee shop. The front desk staff at check in was great, but other than that a disappointing stay

The Drake is an iconic fixture in Chicago. Still elegant, staff is impeccable! the Cote D'Or has very good food for a pub. We are there twice. Be sure to try the pear gelato it's delish. Could use some updating, plumbing is loud and heating is a little loud too. It would get 5* if they did a little upgrading of wall paper in the rooms and found a way to make the plumbing quieter.

Pretty good. Lived the convenience of being downtown and able to walk where ever. No fridge or microwave - $100 worth of food had to be trashed. Bathroom door kept getting stuck. Downstairs restaurant food is amazing.

Old and elegant, you do get old fixtures and such. We never could get the AC/Heat to work right, so most nights, we either shivered or mostly stripped off the bedding and most clothing. The very selective and restricting hours of their restaurants could have been highlighted better. On the other hand, our one meal at the Coq d’Or was among the best in Chicago, despite going to other popular and trendy restaurants. And offering Lavazza coffee in the rooms is a big plus!

The Drake was built in 1920 as an elegant hotel with beautiful flourishes and spacious rooms. Too bad Hilton doesn't invest in the remodel this grand dame deserves. I would stay at The Drake again simply for the memories from my wedding night (29 years) and the nostalgia it evokes for more glamorous eras. For this, I tolerate the faded wallpaper, cheap furniture and lighting, and outdated bathroom with a flooding shower tub. On the positive side, housekeeping is great, breakfast is good, the hall carpeting was colorful and new. Best of all, you can't beat The Drake's lakefront location!

The Drake is a famous, stately old hotel. The lobby and rooms were beautiful. Staff very helpful. Breakfast in the restaurant excellent. So who would expect that the Drake's (expensive) room service would arrive in a paper bag, with the food dumped in cardboard boxes, and to be eaten with fast-food style plastic utensils? Really?? Really tacky!

Checking in and out was fast and easy. The free bottles of water were welcome on some very hot days! Room was clean and very comfortable. The evening Bartender at Coq D'or (I think Danny) was very helpful, and menu suggestions were spot on!!

We stayed for 7 nights and this was the worst hotel experience for us. Lobby was closed down, no restaurant or food in the hotel, not even breakfast. No room service. No bell boy to help carry our luggage. None of these were disclosed when we made the reservation. The staff was rude, uncooperative and unapologetic. P. It is comical that this hotel is rated 4 stars.
