the area around the hotel was beautiful, near dining, shopping. limited menu options for food. it is an excellent hotel for dogs, no charge for dogs. the internet was slow and spotty. they didn't advise us that we were eligible for an upgrade and I think the room we received was actually a downgrade. our check out time was noon, we couldn't receive an extension so we paid a half-day rate to stay 4 hours longer.

Great hotel! Clean, centrally located. Near the train. A lot of luxury shopping nearby. Clean neighborhood. A lot of cool bars and restaurants nearby. Small room but just what we needed. Bed is super squeaky and the bathroom is tight. Overall a great value. Complementary wine from 5-6 in the lobby.

Internet did not work for about 12 hours of our stay. That was a problem since both of us were there to work part of the time and planned to hunker down in the hotel room to do so. I asked for a refund for part of room cost, and it didn't seem likely it was going to happen. Other than that, good hotel. Probably better for leisure travel than business travelers.

The hotel is fine, not great. Our room had a window overlooking an internal fire escape which was bad. No natural light at all. I would definitely avoid that type of room. No parking available. You can use the nearby garage but it's $59/night.

Good option if on a budget and want a good location. Great location! Could use some updates. The room carpet was especially old and stained. Bed was really comfortable. Parking option is a lot next door that was about $60 a night. Didn’t take advantage of the hotel happy hour or bar but looked nice. Cute lobby and outdoor tables.

We unfortunately had to check out at 11:30pm the same day we checked in due to no sound proofing between rooms. We could hear the neighbor as if they were in the same room as us and they weren’t necessarily being loud. Have never experienced that before in a hotel. It was a room with an interior door to go between rooms, if needed, so that was most likely the issue. We became far too “intimately” familiar with our neighbor that night.

Solid price for what you get. I really appreciated the daily housekeeping since most places have stopped doing that. There was a stain on the carpet near the bathroom but I didn’t really mind. It would be really nice to have an easily accessible outlet by the bed since I use a CPAP. The lamps near the bed only had usb outlets.

CH absolutely nails location, location, location. Practically a launching pad for Chicago adventures. The Red Line station is so close...perfect to catch a Cubs game. The Walgreens a few doors over, which becomes your personal bodega for reasonably priced snacks and drinks. And if you're looking to fuel up for the day, you've got the holy trinity of quick sustenance within walking distance: Starbucks for your caffeine fix, Jimmy John's for freaky fast sandwiches, and Dunkin' Donuts for when you need comfort food that doesn't judge your life choices. The staff deserves a genuine shout-out too—friendly folks who seem genuinely happy to help, which is refreshing in a world of hospitality robots. Now, about that room. Calling it "cozy" would be generous real estate speak. It's more like a well-appointed storage unit that happens to have a bed in it. The space is so intimate that you'll become very familiar with every corner. The "closet" situation requires the ability to fold clothing into origami-like precision. FYI: this place transforms into an inadvertent percussion ensemble each morning. The symphony of doors shutting begins early, featuring what sounds like guests practicing for the Door-Closet Olympics. The CH is like that friend who's great to hang out with but whose couch you wouldn't want to crash on for long. It's a launching pad, not a destination. The AC works like a dream.

Our suite was idea for 3 people and we chose this as it had 2 bathrooms. It was comfortable and spacious.We were able to check in a little early which was a bonus. We did have the wine/nibbles one evening when we arrived back after a long day. A nice touch - but not keen on the plastic cups! There is a cafe on site - easy to get a coffee and not sure if it is staffed by the Claridge as the staff weren't very cheery and need a lesson or two in manners. Our only issue with our stay was out room adjoined another and the people staying there were noisy when they arrived back at 2 am - they continued on until 5 am and kept knocking on the adjoining door calling "housekeeping'. Idiots! The Claridge is a nice place and in a nice area. The cafe along on the corner is a good place to eat and the hotel is close to the train line. We would stay here again.

The staff is lovely, the lobby is nice and the location is good but the hotel rooms and hallways feel a little worn down and dated. For example the shower door was weird because you the way the door opened you could not turn on the shower without getting wet. The wallpaper in places was peeling. Nothing was gross or dirty, just worn down in need of some new polish. That said, we had a nice stay and we’re not in the hotel enough for it to matter that much.

Overall a very nice hotel but the bathroom area in our particular room was a horrible design. You could hardly shut the bathroom door to use the toilet. If you were a larger or overweight person not sure how you would maneuver the shower/toilet area.

Check-in was smooth. Mz Cookie at the front desk gets special mention for making us feel very welcome. The room was small but neat. It was very clean, and very quiet. The location was very convenient for our destinations in Old Town and Near North Side. Also, my wife the coffee snob says the latte from the bar in the lobby was really good.

Our stay was ok for the one night we stayed. The room and bed were good. But they hotel ended up charging me 3x the rate I paid on Expedia and has not yet returned the money. They currently owe me hundreds of dollars back for a one night stay. Guest services was extremely rude when called and they said they didn't have an accounting department to speak with to help me resolve my issue. Don't stay at this hotel if you expect to only pay the amount your reservation was for. I have disputed my charges with Chase to try to resolve since I can't get a quick resolution through the hotel.

We had travelled from LA on Route 66 stopping at 12 hotels along the way. We purposefully booked Clardige House as our last stop as we saw the photos and wanted to be somewhere a but more up market. Unfortunately the welcome we received was terrible, not even a smile. We were asked during our 3 night stay if we wanted our room cleaned to which we said yes and asked for twice. The room was not cleaned at all, when I questioned this on our last night they apologised and said they would send some new towels. They sent two towels and two bath mats, 20 minutes later some more towels were delivered. When checking out we again aired our frustrations, which were put down to "hiccups" by the supervisor which was disappointing, no apology was given straight away. We are supposed to be getting the amenities fee back but are yet to receive it. Such a shame to end our holiday like this. The area Claridge house is in is amazing. It just feels they took our money and didn't care.

I HIGHLY recommend the Claridge House as an excellent hotel option when visiting Chicago. The location is convenient and walkable, plenty of near by shopping, and more. The front staff was incredibly kind and super helpful… Thank you for hospitality Ms. Cookie you made our stay very enjoyable and I will never forget the kindness you showed my friend and I. The only complaint I have is the bathroom is small and tight. The shower floor could have been cleaned a little better but other than that it was an overall great experience and we will be coming back soon and most likely staying here again.

After a four hour drive in non-stop rain from Detroit to Chicago, I was exhausted and relieved to arrive to the Claridge House. When I checked in at the desk, Trevor was so welcoming and kind. My room was clean, comfortable, and cozy. I will definitely stay here again.

Check-in was awful. We'd been communicating about an early check-in to our king suite for a month, all the way through to the morning of. Not only did that not happen, but we didn't even get into our room until 3:40—40 minutes after check-in time. We had to cancel our Lyft to Navy Pier (which i was charged for) and no one even offered to help us bring all of our luggage up to the 12th floor. The thing that was most frustrating was the non-stop excuses from employees and management. While we did get a comp, it didn’t make up for the poor check-in experience, which was NOT how we wanted to start off our first (and short) visit to the city as a family. It seems the main problem is that they're either understaffed or extremely slow with housekeeping. I hated being a "Karen" with the manager, but it was justified, unfortunately. The king suite itself was fantastic, though. Would've been nice to have a microwave and alarm clock, but we loved everything else about the spacious & clean room! It was nice to have our doggos with us here, too. Unfortunately, we likely won't be staying here again when we return to Chicago. Which is a shame because it's a beautiful property in a great location.

You can't beat the location -- near everything but quiet. A short walk from the lakefront. Parking is hellishly expensive, but if you are willing to walk about 15 minutes you can usually find free parking on Sedgwick.

Easy check in, great location in the city/quiet street, room was huge for Chicago! Beds were very comfortable. We usually don’t stay this far north in the city but we had a concert at wrigley field. I would stay here again for sure. Parking super convenient right next door

Of the four nights we stayed, our room wasn't cleaned for three, which meant days without trash removal or towel changes. I had read about this in other reviews and didn't think it would happen to us. The hotel is far from the city center and The Loop; I just want to make this clear because when I searched for hotels near the center, this one appeared, and it really is far. When we checked out, the receptionist didn't take the time to ask us if everything had been okay; she just said, "it’s fine, everything is already paid for." I would have liked to have the opportunity to give my comments so that a hotel, which is “by Hilton”, could have better service.

The room was larger than expected. We were concerned it would be loud from outside traffic but it was very quiet. Only real issue was bar with food seemed to be open only at random times. Parking was convenient though expensive, as all of Chicago is.

Hotel is nice, room service is limited to breakfast hours, first hotel I ever stayed in where I had to ask them to bring me toilet paper because housekeeping didn't replenish the extra roll, parking is not included or part of the hotel it is a valet service next door if you choose to use it and parking everywhere is expensive.

Friendly staff, nice coffee options during the morning and bar at night. Lots of nice seating in the lobby for waiting or working. Comfy bed, great neighborhood and train access. I’ll stay here again.
