The property is okay but no elevator. I have a heavy luggage and they gave me a room on the 2nd floor it was so hard by the stairs. I just like the location coz it’s like 14 mins away from the graduation ceremony

The hotel is in need of updating. The rooms are small and in need of painting. I had issues with the WiFi, they reset the router and it was better. There were no blankets in the room, the end cover was a piece of a bedspread there for show. The hotel is next to a DMV which made parking limited on my arrival.

The hotel looks dated, but it was clean. Definitely convenient to the Navy RTC. Parking is free and always available. Gym was closed at the time we stayed there. Breakfast consisted of coffee, tea, yogurt and prepackaged muffins, so you need to go out to get more substantial food. Not much in the immediate area. Restaurants are a few miles away.

I stayed for 3 nights from 8/14-8/17/24. My son graduated from The Navy Boot Camp. I liked that it was minutes away from the ceremony. Also minutes away from stores a places to eat. The staff was very nice and friendly. The hallway carpet was dirty, but the rooms were very clean. I will recommend this facility for a brief stay in Great Lakes, Illinois.

Parking in front was inconvenient during DMV hours. A lot of noise could be heard from people in hallways going in and out of rooms or just talking. Overall, room was clean, house keeping was phenomenal, and staff was welcoming, polite, and professional.

While the room we stayed in was pretty clean and updated the common areas, foyer, hallways, etc seemed very old and outdated. There was a distinct dirty carpet smell throughout I'm sure due to the fact that the carpet was very dirty looking and widely stained. We arrived after a long car ride close to 10pm at night to be told that our reservation (made through Expedia) wasn't in their system. This problem took 30 minutes to solve while we tiredly waited holding our bags. Overall, not super satisfied. The only redeeming thing was the room was decent for the price.

It was not what I expected. What is advertised online compared to what you get when you show up are two totally different sights. As soon as you walk in it smells like cigarettes and marijuana smell. The hallway was dirty and the room itself was just terrible. I had to go to Target to get disinfectant wipes and sprays to clean the restroom. Who ever does your house cleaning needs to do a better job at it. The toilet was really dirty with hairs and all. Not a good experience at all. Tried to get a different room but unfortunately all the rooms were already booked. I will not recommend this place to my family. I expected a lot more from the Howard Johnson brand.

Staff was nice. Room was clean enough. Hall carpet was disgusting and definitely needs replaced. The DMV is in same parking lot. So lots of commotion from that during the day. Limited parking.

This was a nice and convenient stay, close to navy base for graduation. The rooms were really clean, found a few hairs on my pillow. Other than that it was good. Mattress was comfy and there was enough space for 3 of us. Bathroom sink was leaky and could use an update but if you’re looking for convenience and good pricing, this is for you.

Overall it was good. I was told I had a king bed but it was a queen. The noise around 2am everyday was a bit much in the hallways. The staff was courteous and attentive .

I loved how close this was to the military base! The staff was super friendly and our room was clean. The only parts I didn’t like were the fact that our refrigerator didn’t work at first (maintenance came and fixed it later that day) and the toilet didn’t work well. Overall great stay!

Pros: Place was very clean and staff was friendly. Cons: walls and doors are thin, can be noisy with people in hall or adjacent rooms. Toilet tank took an hour to refill. However good place to stay for boot camp graduation, which is what i was there for, close to base.

1) The seating surfaces of the cloth furniture in the front lobby were badly stained and off-putting. 2) The toilet bowl in my room was completely detached from the floor (i.e., caulk seal was completely broken), so it rocked when sat upon. 3) Other than these two observations, I had a satisfactory stay. 4) My bed was clean and comfortable, and the a/c worked well.

It was a good stay but the bathroom is small, the tv seem to work the best at night. During the day most of the channels didn’t work but because we wasn’t in the room during the day most of our trip it wasn’t a big deal for us.

Definitely an older property but the friendliness of the staff and the support to the new Navy sailors was top notch. Beds are definitely smaller than a queen but it was cold enough to enjoy a snuggle with the wife. Distance to and from the Navy graduation was perfect.

We stayed for my son’s Navy Graduation and it’s 5 minutes away from post. Small hotel and old but has been renovated. Still needs some attention like bathrooms are super tiny and our bathroom door didn’t closed properly. Beds are full size and springs. It has fridge and microwave. A/C worked great. Breakfast is just coffee, juice and some snacks. You can hear all kinds of noise, since it’s close to the road. The room was cleaned daily. Only complaint was the last night the entire hallway smelled like cigarettes, super strong. Like someone was smoking inside. Check out was smooth and service was great.

On day 2 our key wouldn’t work. We had to change keys 3 times. On day of check out the front desk lady was pretty rude. The beds were hard as a rock. Sheets were itchy. The hotel lied about shuttle service- it’s a taxi company not affiliated with the hotel.

Ilove the location and the area , the only thing i hate about it , they supposed to clean the room for the sexond day and night we stayed but we beg for it to clean … the lady that was working was not helpful at all the reception…i dont know her name but the other one was helpful the one we checked in with

The location is good, very close to the Naval Station. They provide a shuttle bus in the morning on graduation day. There are many restaurants nearby. The staff are polite. The receptions are friendly, respectful, and very helpful with recommendations. The hotel feels safe, and I would definitely stay here again if I have the chance.

This property is over priced but they know if you want to be close to the base, you'll pay. The hotel is quite outdated and it didn't feel safe outside at night. The parking lot is a nightmare as well as the way you enter and leave. It was close to the base so that was nice.

This is an old hotel but it was very clean. The cleaning staff was spit on & polite. Negative breakfast is not good. No eggs, bacon or waffles. Just Yogurt & muffins. The tv kept going in and out. Sometimes black screen. We were there for Naval Station graduation ceremony.

I did like our double bed-room but the bathtub was very narrow, even for a shower. My daughter in law got a single bed room and she had a nice walk in shower. People talking in the hallway echoed loudly early in the morning. No elevator but I knew that when I booked the room. Staff very friendly! The restaurant next door had really good food. Not far from the Base for Navy graduation.

The hotel was inexpensive and clean. Staff was friendly. My only issue was the breakfast; only juice, coffee, and packaged muffins were set out. That does not consistute a breakfast. We went to the store and brought back food to make a real meal in the room microwaves. Aside from that, we had a good experience.
