Quality Inn & Suites Benton Harbor - St Joseph

The place was nice. Appears they are in the middle of a re-model. Breakfast was hit & miss. Some days there was a great selection, others not so much. There were no juice options. They had a pancake maker that was not servicable.

Our overall experience was that this is a VERY tired hotel from ripped curtains to looking outside window to a huge bunch of weeds. Our breakfast the next morning was almost unedible from orange juice machine broken, rubbery biscuits tho the coffee was good. The most positive experience of this hotel was that our car wasn’t broken into.

I was going to post pictures, but i didnt want to embarrass the team of people that were genuinely kind and helpful. The property is run down, with peeling wallpaper, stained carpets, and a mildew odor. This property needs a lot of love but, the location is ideal!

Clean and safe

Cars with gunshots in parking lot . Broken glass in several spot in the parking which were being swept up obvious car break ins. Lawn unmowed and plenty of workers sitting in the lobby laughing chatting having fun that any of them could have been working. We showered and left immediately in fear of being the next car break in .

Breakfast area chairs were on tables - very uninviting. Breakfast food not too good. Carpeting felt damp. Bathroom door would not stay open. Curtains on windows ripped. Overall not an appealing place to stay.

I called the night before to tell them our flight was delayed till the next day and they charged the room. I called again because I was delayed firrrher and they had no idea who I was. When we finally got there I asked if I could get sat off the bill and they said no and it wasn’t busy. We went upstairs to the room and on the way the floors were not vacuumed and the laundry shoot was wide open the door could hurt someone if they where on there phone. Finally got to the room and oped the door to find trash not taken out of one can and sheets with black short hairs everywhere in and on with stains on the comforter. next morning I went down at 930 and breakfast ended at 830. No one told us when we came in. So I went to the laundry room to do laundry and there was no detergent for sale. Only once was the a front desk person your have to ring a bell and they come from the back. So no security at all and they don’t care about anything else. The coffee is gross both down stairs and in the room. Never stay there. Go to the Hyatt or motel instead

Booked for holiday weekend only 10min drive to the beach and town hub, staff was very nice and accommodating. The first room they put us in was kind of messy and dirty - it looked like it hadn’t been stayed in in some time. But we asked to be moved and we they apologized and put us in another room and the second room was perfectly clean. The surrounding neighborhood is run down and ghost town like but the Walmart is right next door and a couple fast food restaurants around. Overall a good stay for a fair price

Facilities were a bit outdated, the room was seemingly clean. fitness center was closed and vending machines were out of order. The staff was polite and the breakfast offered was decent for a budget hotel.

Bathroom smelled , the toilet looked dirty, I tried cleaning it, it was a little better but it was w/in the toilet seat. Blow Dryer didn’t work nor one of the lights next to the bed nor the ph chargers didn’t work.

Only stayed one night. Was perfect for what we needed. Only complaint was the bathroom floor was sticky.

Place was terrible. Dirty and filthy bedding. We are trying to get money back. Didn’t stay we left right away. They are not cooperating to help us. We were there 1/2 hour. Can’t get a hold of manager

It was horrid. The bed has hair all over it, i found a sex toy as well. Forecer upset

It was clean and the front desk staff were pleasant. I could not get the television in the room to work correctly. It turned on but the remote did nothing to actually get a channel to watch. Also, the clock in the room was not set correctly and impossible to set to the correct time. Totally unusable. Fortunately, I only needed to be there for a few hours before sleeping for the night and leaving the next morning. Will not choose to stay there again.

The room was comfortable and clean. The only issues were a stale smell to the room and aged buttons on the heater/air conditioning that made it difficult to control.

Mainly, the room had an offputting odor. Also the pillows were small, definitely NOT standard size, more like square, couch pillow size. For the price I paid, this was VERY disappointing as the room was already very bare bones basic.

The hallway looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in awhile. The shower only worked if it was turned to hot. The tv remote didn’t work. However the room seemed to be clean, the bed wasn’t real comfortable. Wouldn’t stay here again. The hotel needs to be renovated.

The room we had, has really bad dirty carpet with like pot burn marks. There was no fridge, the maintenance man brought one. The Tv was working, bit the cable box wasnt, and we had to fix the lanaguge on the tv. The guy said they normally dont rent this room. Breakfast was lame. But hey it is a cheap hotel. I was in town for an Ironman. If all you need is a reasonably clean room that at least had very clean beds and bathroom, and you dont mind having noisy other occupants, then it was fine. Dont know what the other guest abive me were doing. But thr banging noises (not thr bed) anf loud talking and screaming and kids running around when i was trying to rest for the event really sucks. It was so lound i dont know how they never head the noises. Area has plenty places to eat within walking distance. Its right at the highway, which is a huge plus. Just bring back some Quality in your name.

I considered going home. The rooms were okay at best. The fridge was broken and so was the hair dryer. The whole building could use an update, but all we needed was a place to shower and sleep, so I cannot complain.

Stayed one night while passing through. Bed was comfortable with good linens. Clean room and bathroom with decent towels. Friendly staff. No elevator so if you have back issues you should request a room on ground floor. Breakfast was okay - products were probably from a dollar tree store (honestly). Would stay one night again if there’s no other options.

At check in, said my credit card was declined. Used a different card. I called the 1st card & they said no transaction was attempted for that amount. If it was, I had more than enough available credit. There were no do not disturb cards for the doors. Next morning go down for breakfast, one of the "free" amenities. No breakfast, asked about a bill credit, no. Called Expedia & was told my reservation did not include breakfast (it's a free amenity) so if any of the other 3 vehicles there wanted breakfast, they were out of luck. Checked Expedia & the four room res types I could have made for that day after that, all showed free breakfast, not sure what's going on with that. After getting back from a wedding reception, go to our 2nd floor room & had to go back down because the key cards weren't working. When we came back from the wedding reception, more cars at the hotel than at Friday check in & when we left for the wedding Saturday. My wife joked, will they have breakfast now with more people? Next morning, saw some coffee & a few things out. DirecTV remote batteries needed replacing, said so on a message on the tv screen. Message in room about cleaning fees if mess left, yet one of the dressers had a bunch of empty shopping bags in it. Couldn't print receipt at checkout. I've stayed at some Quality Inn properties in the past, this was the worst we've ever dealt with. I would think twice before booking another Quality Inn property, definitely never stay at this one again.

First they offer free breakfast although they have the space i was informed they no longer have it. I had to call a number to check on at 2 in the afternoon. Nobody was ever at the front desk! I needed a couple extra pillows and was informed they had no extras. Next time I'll stay next door at The Red Roof

When we checked in, we were given room 112. Our key cards would not open room 112 so the clerk gave us the room next-door, 110. no problem, right?WRONG!! At 4:10 AM, we were awakened by the sound of someone repeatedly trying to enter our room. We could see people out in the hallway, moving around and trying to open the door. When activity in the hallway ceased, I opened the door to see people down the hall by the entrance to the lobby. Shortly there after I saw the clerk come around the corner and see me standing in my shorts in the hallway and I asked “do you remember that you moved us from room 112 into room 110? “ he apologized as I bid him and his new guests good night and went in our room and locked the door. Needless to say, we got no sleep for the rest of the night. I asked the clerk in the morning if there could be some reparations made for the scare and inconvenience at 4:15 in the morning. He stated he had no control over any such thing. I will call management at this hotel on Monday, June 10. The breakfast was pretty pathetic. The clerk asked several times if we would like to try the automatic pancake maker. I may have done so if there had been any pancake syrup at all. We had some cereal and a couple sausages which were OK. It’s a shame, but this is really inexcusable!

The room and price were decent. They should not be allowed to serve breakfast as the food was pretty disgusting and would not pass health inspections in my opinion.
