Key card issues after check in and next day. No towels in pool area. Low temp in hot tub. Sub par continental breakfast. First night, no hot water in shower. Staff friendly. Clean rooms but the magnet closure on the cabinets/doors/drawers for storage not properly installed so they were extremely difficult to open. Stayed 2 nights and total was over $400 after tax/fees - for $200/night, quality should’ve been way better!!

Staff was super friendly. Room was mediocre, you could tell the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. There were things left in there from the guest previous. Hair on the shower and walls. Lose tiles on the floor. The pool was the worst part. Since it was the reason we booked this hotel we were very sad. Kiddie pool was absolutely disgusting and the second day it was out of order. We didn’t let our child swim in the pool because of the way it looked.

Affordable fun. The slide was a blast but the water & pool room were SO COLD! Thankfully the hot tub was warm. Room was clean and pleasant. Breakfast was standard fare with waffles and eggs.

The pull out couch was so uncomfortable, you could feel every spring. The check in guy said there were no roll aways left and the slide was down for maintenance. He would not give any discount for it! It was the main reason we chose to pay that much.

Pool area needs a bit of TLC. Run down - so humid and overpowering chlorine smell. Kids can see passed that and loved the wateralide. Everything else was lovely. Spacious room , nice lobby - we hung out here a lot. Good area to let dogs out. Walking distance to Culvers with a bonus 10% off your total when showing your room card.

We held a bday party for a 8 year old young lady and 5 of her best friends. A great time was had by all, the pool with slide was a hit. The room fit the bill for an overnight stay. The breakfast selection Sunday was great. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful time and party event. I would recommend to any one looking for a great get away!

The water slide at the pool was broken. The pool was the main reason we stayed at this hotel. It was very disappointing to find out it wasn’t working. Also, the front desk staff need to shower and wash their clothes. Their body odor was quite offensive.

We loved that they are still continung to upgrade and fix up the property and rooms. We continue to love our stays, tho the pool area could definitely use some fixing up and changes such as the bathroom door, the temperature of the pool and if your going to have signs that say noone under the age of 14 allowed in hottub then enforce it or take signs down because let me tell ya....parents sure dont. We had a great time and as always will definitely be back.

The hotel was clean. Shower could use some upgrading. Pillows are awful and toilet paper is like sandpaper. Found it odd that the pool closed during the day from 11-3 pm. Didn’t affect us but found it strange. Overall hotel was good and would stay again.

I didn't not like anything about this hotel. Tv doesn't work in the room. The room had bottles of tea and soda on the floor when we walked in to the room so it probably wasn't cleaned before we checked into it

There were rose petals on the floor by the bed! The room was not cleaned. When I did request housekeeping the ONLY thing they did was put clean towels in the bathroom. Bedsheets not changed, bed not made, carpet not vacuumed. We chose that room for the hot tub but never used it because it didn’t appear clean. The AC had a very loud rattling noise the entire time it was on. There was only one ice machine and vending machine for the entire hotel which was located on the first floor. The vending machine prices advertised $2per item, but we were charged $3.50. When we told the front desk staff, the answer was “well it’s not our machine”. The staff was rude and disrespectful and clearly couldn’t care less. The vending machine was the only time we used our card while staying at the hotel, (total $3.50) and two days after we got home there was an AmericInn change of $147.02!!! It was refunded but how the heck did it happen?? Needless to say, they will never get our business again.

We arrived a little after four and our room wasnt ready (check in starts at 3). We waited in the lobby for 45 minutes until it was cleaned. Room looked good when we first dropped out things off (we had to be somewhere at 5), but ypon retun noticed the sunk was leaking into thefloor whenever we used it and there was black mold in several locations - bathroom ceiling, around a door to an adjoining room and possibly on the ceiling in the room. No new rooms were available. Front desk/maintenance offered to clean up the mold with mold killer spray, but i declined because i didnt want us breathing in that spray or taking a chance with the mold being airborn. The front desk staff would not comp anything with our room and told me to contact an email in a business card. The kids enjoyed the pool/silde and the place looked good from a distance, but there lots of water damage in the walls/ceilings in rooms and rotten windows in the breakfast area as well.

We came here for a family vacation. The pool area and slide were fantastic! Everyone enjoyed it. The continental breakfast had a lot of options, waffles, pastries, cereals, fruit, eggs, potatoes, sausage etc. Food was decent but eating area was small and very busy. Everyday it was a challenge to get up to the food or to find seating. The rooms were very dated and not very clean. Ours was not stocked. No shampoo, conditioner and a half roll of toilet paper. We were continuously contacting the front desk for something. We were in the king suite and it was very spacious.

Pool area was fun for the kids, but at the cost of filthy rooms. Didn't listen to the reviews about the rooms being dirty, as I used to come here every year for maybe 15 year until the last 4 years or so, and cleanliness was not as issue, until now. Had then come up and change our sheets and vacuum the floors.

A convenient location, just off Hwy 169. We liked the King Suite with the separate sitting area. Room was clean & bed was great. A little crusty around the bathroom corners, but not bad. The elevator and area leading to it could be cleaner. Typical hot breakfast--adequate.

The kids loved the waterslide/pool. There was hardly ever towels though. The room door didn’t latch right and we came back to our door open twice. The ceiling in the bathroom leaked when someone was showering upstairs. The bed linens had stains. The entire feel of the property was aged and worn- poor patching/painting on walls, light fixtures in room that didn’t work, WiFi didn’t work, tv remote didn’t work. There were a lot of unattended children in the pool area and when this was brought up to staff, there was not a response/action. Overall wouldn’t recommend this hotel-but it was budget priced, so expectations weren’t too high.

It was a place to sleep. Room was ok. Ceiling was peeling, toilet seat stained, and toilet paper had been stained with something. It was a Good thing there were 2 rolls. 1 wash cloth for 2 people and the bath tub was dirty. Room over looked busy road which was loud early morning. TV was a pain to try and find channels. Had to refresh digital scan to find anything. Probably won't stay there again.

We stayed here because of the price and the fact that we like Americinn's in general. This place was convenient but the room is severely dated with creepy photos, mold on the ceiling by the spa tub and the fireplace didn't work. Staff is very friendly and the beds were comfortable. Bring your own pillow though.

I have always stayed at AMERICINN when I’m in area. Past 10 years This trip internet did not work in room. Was not fixed when requested Air conditioner way to loud. Terrible sleep. Next year I will now shop around for better stay. Just not a good stay.

My son cut his toe in the pool and we asked the front desk if they had a band aid which they didn't. What hotel doesn't stock a basic first aid kit? Also my sister in another room ordered a roll away cot and they put it by the front desk and told her to bring it up to her room herself.... the customer service here for both nights could be much improved. The pool ran out of towels so we had to get some from the front desk and the guy looked at us like we were crazy as we were dripping wet and cold asking for towels. Not our fault they couldn't stay on top of it. The breakfast had some pretty good options. Bummed the waffle maker didn't work the first morning, batter was way too watery and the waffles wouldn't turn out. Over all the kids loved the slide and I loved the location. And that it's less crowded than other hotels I've stayed in the past. Customer service needs some serious work and the rooms could use some touching up on paint and stuff. Bathroom fan in ours didn't work.

I cannot complain about the experience. I bought my daughter the room and she and her kids had a ball. However, in her hurry to leave (with four kids), she forgot her work computer charger. That night, I went to the hotel to retrieve it. To say that the individual behind the counter was indifferent would be an understatement. Finally he checked the room and said it wasn't there. He said he would talk to the housekeeper to find out what happened and call me back the next day. He didn't. I called him the following evening and he said that the charger was gone. Yes, my daughter left something behind, but that does not give someone license to throw it out or take it for themselves. The post-hotel experience was one of the worst examples of "customer service" I have ever seen. My daughter had to buy a new charger for $40, not wanting to embarrass herself at the school she recently joined. Putting aside the horrid "customer service," I think the hotel should compensate her in some way for the housekeeper's negligence. Otherwise, I will find other options when my family needs a break from the hustle and bustle.

The was clean and the bed comfortable. However, there was a tornado siren in the middle of the night and the staff had no clue about what to do and was unable to direct guests to shelter. This hotel needs an emergency protocol! Also the tub faucet leaked and the shower rod was pulling away from the wall making it impossible to close and contain water.

Our stay started with us getting into our room that was awfully humid. We thought they might not have gotten the sheets dried all the way so no big deal. A few minutes after being in the room we couldn't stand the smell of it so we went and bought a scent plug-in. When we returned I was in the bathroom and noticed dripping water from the ceiling. It was ceiling tiles so i was able to remove the tile and inspect where the water was coming from. Upon looking for the leak above, i noticed a bunch of mold above the ceiling. We have a 1 and 3 year old so we immediately decided we wanted a refund. I went to the front desk and was told they would have to ask the manager if we could have a refund. At this point our children were wanting to swim at the water park (the only reason we picked this hotel), so we took them down to the pool. Coincidentally, the hotel told us we could have a refund but saw the kids going to the pool and told us we have 20 minutes to pack up amd check out. The worker at the front desk was very confrontational and unprofessional. I would not reccomend this hotel to anyone. Ive also seen from other reviews we're not the only ones to find mold in our room.

Check in went fine. Guy at front desk was friendly. Problem was my 2 rooms I rented (Connecting rooms). 1st room- No hand soap , hand towel or wash rag. Bathroom only had 1 bath towel with a nice blood stain on it plus no shower curtain. 2nd room- Had hand soap but no hand towels , or bath towels but had 1 wash rag. So of course I went down to front desk , and got what we needed plus a shower curtain for both rooms & yes had to hang my own shower curtain up for both of my rooms I rented. All I got from the guy at front desk was oh Im sorry & it seemed like no big deal. Since I was staying 2 nights , the next morning I decided to talk to new person at front desk & about how I found my 2 rooms. All I got from was well guess the housekeeper got busy doing something else & forgot to go back & finish. Well as someone who has been a hotel housekeeper... A room should be completely finished before you leave that room so you dont get busy & forget to go back. Forgetting to hang up a shower curtain is one thing but damn towels are something that no housekeeper should forget to put in a room. Breakfeast sucked to. "Waterpark" was fun the kids. This isnt the 1st American in Ive stayed in but this location gives American a bad name.

Property was clean and comfortable. Located very close to Valley Fair amusement park. Their pool and water slide was very fun. I booked room through a 3rd party ( expedia) and that created some problems. Not the hotels fault at all. The breakfast was a nice set up, HOWEVER the eggs and potato mixture were cold. There is somewhat of a language barrier with staff mostly heavy accents.

This is the place we stay every time we visit Canterbury Park. Easy access from Hwy 169 and close to the track, Valley Fair, and places to eat. Always friendly staff, clean, and a good breakfast to start the day.

Always a great experience and lots of fun. Food places, gas stations, etc in walking distance and target, walmart and casino all within 8 miles. We dont normally get the breakfast, but when we can it is very good and a variety! Staff is also wonderful and friendly.

We rented the king suite with jacuzzi tub but the tub didn’t work. We called down to the super helpful front desk who got us into another similar suite on a different floor. Jacuzzi worked but there were pieces falling off it. (Drain and faucet issues). We were still able to use it. We were within walking distance to Culver’s and close for to the State Speech meet. Area seemed safe and the water slide and hot tub were functioning and fun. I would stay again, but probably not get the jacuzzi suite.

This was a great hotel for the price we paid! The waterslide was fun for the kids! It really was the only place that advertised the slide was open 7 days a week so that was a huge selling point! Staff was friendly! Great location.

It was a pleasant stay. The people were helpful and responsive. We enjoyed the pool and breakfast. The only issue was the room was moist - may have been the condensate drain on the A/C was plugged. The desk was going to have maintenance inspect after we left. I would recommend the AmericInn for family and visits to the nearby recreation.

Loved pool and hot tub but you need to increase heat in hot tub. It was a luke warm hot tub. I would not say the breakfast was very good. No yogurt and the milk needs to be more than just 2%. Also a suggestion would be to put the toaster nearer to bread. It was in a corner and missed the toast altogether because I didn't it until I was ready to leave.

Stayed the night with my family for my son’s birthday. Had some family join for some time in the pool. Was told by man at front desk that anyone outside of who is staying in the room had to pay $15 to use the pool. There were no towels in the pool room and the water was freezing. The room itself was not insulated well and the window seals were all broken. The continental breakfast in the morning including a bowl of moldy apples and a few stale muffins. The yogurts in the fridge were expired. Will not return.

There were good and bad moments to our stay. The staff were friendly, i asked for extra pillows and got them very quickly. The elevator, main floor bathroom, pool bathroom were all just awfully dirty. Our room was decent but had a lot of things that didn't work. I do not go to continental breakfasts hoping for a 5star experience but whatever is served at this location is not edible in any way.

The pool and waterslides were amazing. the room was nice and roomy as well. Loved that they had a mini waffle marker in addition to the big one. Didn't care for the hot food at breakfast much. Also seemed a bit short staffed, when I called for more toilet paper, they said it'd be like an hour before they could bring it up to us. But overall, I'd give it a solid 8 and we would return again!

I think they need to update the rooms. Our first room had a very bad odor so we changed rooms which was a smaller room but didn’t get any compensation. We wanted the bigger room as we were celebrating our family Christmas. The breakfast Saturday morning was cold and didn’t seem fresh.
