El Rey Court

The decor of the hotel was very attractive. The amenities were a different story. Waited forever for the hot water. Wasn’t allowed to use the facilities due to a wedding that took precedence. The sauna was off limits because it was broken. Same for the hot tub. This hotel is spiraling downhill very fast.

It’s still here. My last stay here was 45 years ago. It’s still a COOL place. Rough driveways.

El Rey Court is a relaxing, unique stay. From the pool with a bar and hot tub to the food truck and chic bar, the amenities were just lovely. I loved the midcentury-style rooms.

The parking lot and walkways need close attention. Unsafe.

Cute older motel with nice outdoor areas for sitting and hanging out. The hot tub could be a bit warmer and the sauna wasn’t working. Would have been nice since we were visiting early spring and the weather was chilly. The bar in the evening usually has great entertainment if you don’t feel like venturing out. Bed was super comfortable and room was nice but bathroom could use a bit of updating. For some reason we did not receive cleaning service-not sure because other rooms did. We have stayed here before and love the vibe of the place. Summer is awesome because of the pool.

The property was fine and clean. The pool are was nice. The lighting in the room is horrible. We requested a cover for the exposed LED lights in the restroom and were told maintenance would get back to us the next day and we never heard from anyone. The parking lot needs to be worked on, there are a lot of put holes.

There are fun and interesting events planned throughout the month, and the pool club is well maintained and equipped with a bar. However, expectations should be lowered regarding staff service and interactions (I've come to accept this, and simply adjust my expectations when staying here). There is a lot of "hipster aloof" and the so-called "Millennial stare" going on. You may find yourself standing in front of the check-in counter, the wonderful La Reina bar, or the Turquoise Trailer without being acknowledged by staff people, or perhaps waiting for the end of a cell phone conversation. There are exceptions, of course, and I've had wonderful encounters with many staff people over the years. Nonetheless, it's worth preparing for. There also seems to be a preference for local patrons in the bar. In spite of this, I recommend staying here, and will continue to stay here myself.

We were excited to check out El Ray, and we really wanted to like this motel, but we ultimately felt like for the price, it was too far too average. The room was an updated motel room, but still held on to the loud funky air conditioner/heater that you would expect pre-renovation. It was impossible to sleep with it on. Only a thin duvet was provided, there was no extra blanket for the cooler evenings. The design is good in the room, and at first feels contemporary and fresh, but upon closer inspection just feels like they’ve tried to “cover up” the funkiness of the motel, rather than properly renovate. The bar is nice and cosy, and we enjoyed one night there with a decent Margarita. I liked the design. However, the place lacks warmth, & feels impersonal. The food truck was conveniently located, but overpriced. The area is not far from town, but the area isn’t the best to walk around during the day or night. It’s busy and hectic, and you definitely need a car. We enjoyed the hot tub, and I’m sure during the Summer the pool is nice. Expect to pay an extra $20 a night “resort fee.” It all adds up to what should be a much nicer facility than it actually is.

Do not look anywhere else! What a hidden gem! It’s like a little Southwest Adobe Village Resort! Simply amazing! Pics online do not do it justice or show its uniqueness's! Staff is super friendly! And the Food Truck had delicious Burgers! There’s a pet friendly area and even a greenhouse! I want to go back in the Summer to see the pool in action! Our room was super cozy, clean and comfy beds! Love this place!

Stayed two nights and was very disappointed. No hair dryer, cold showers, and hot water only lasted a few minutes. The rug looked dirty and I ended up with bed bug-like bites after the stay.

We were excited to visit but unfortunately the room was dark and not super clean. It seems like some rooms have been updated more than others. The concept is good but needs more development. The staff was super nice and helpful however.

Mold was present in the room, other than that its a beautiful place. Our room was beautiful, but we were allergic to whatever was in the room.

Overall, the hotel gives motel vibes and the grounds could be better kept. The walls of my room were dirty and there was spider webs hanging around one of the lights. Tried to call th front desk but they didn’t pick up. I will say, the artwork around the grounds is nice but that’s about it. Would love to see management reinvest in the upkeep of the facility.

loved having a food truck on the premises and a bar with Sunday night music. Did not have internet service in the room for 2 days. 3rd day manager came to the room and fixed the problem. I should have insisted they come to the room immediately. Only complaint.

We had a poor experience here. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, and the self laundry reasonably priced. However, the lighting is inadequate, the shower controls difficult to operate--could not stop the tub trickle so heard it all-night, and the road noise insufferably loud most of the night. The electrical outlets barely keep a plug secure. Although it possesses some 1950s charm, the motel should be avoided.

El Rey Court was unique in style, each room is different. Has a lot to offer, the on site food truck was delicious, staff was super friendly.

The property is really nice. They’ve done a good job of landscaping and maintaining space. Just keep in mind that it’s built in 1933 so you can hear everything. The windows are as if they’re open when they’re closed. The towels are terrible. But the bed was comfortable. The location is really great.

The room was clean and bed comfortable. The furniture had lots of dings. With the window immediately facing the sidewalk and parking lot just a few feet away (as with most rooms), for any privacy, we had the shades closed and the room was pretty dark. We also don’t have hand soap by the sink upon arrival, though there were shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc.

The room was basic, very dark, no lighting for reading, blinding deco ball lights on desk. The chairs were not comfortable, bathroom lacked in counter space. Glas it was just 2 nights..the lawn was not very well kept.

One of the worst stays I’ve ever experienced. I grew up visiting El Rey, I have great memories of this place as a kid. I booked it because it seemed freshly updated and of good value. This place is beyond disappointing. So much has been spent on the overall image of this place, freshly updated brand, merch, etc but the processes and guest experience are terrible. I called them to request an early check in. Check in starts at 4 and I requested a 3pm check in. They let me know the room was not ready but would shoot me a text when it was. Understandably not all early check ins can be accommodated so we waited until 4pm to check in. The room was not ready until nearly 5pm. For the two hours spent waiting nearly every guest who walked in was told the same. The room wasn’t ready. The front desk staff has no way of dealing with it and their only resolve is to offer free drink tokens. The room itself does not appear anything like the heavily edited photos. It’s dirty, poorly renovated, and things are falling apart. The ‘Casita’ we rented has a sliding glass door to an outdoor area, the lock doesn’t work and clearly hasn’t in a while. It’s run down, beat up, and poorly cared for. The staff is slow to respond, chaotic, and offer very poor responses and resources to guests. Please avoid booking here. It’s just not worth it.

Staff was so so so helpful. Like incredibly attentive. THe room was very clean. I've stayed there 3 times in the last 4 weeks, because it is so comfortable and beautiful.

Untrained desk clerks both day and late shift. Received a call from night clerk at 11:20 pm, waking me up. She wasn’t sure anyone was checked in then wanted my credit card even though this room was already paid for. There was some confusion on the clerk’s part whether the extra $20 amenity fee was paid. She woke me up to ask me this and continued to complain about the paperwork that was left for her. I won’t ever stay at this motel again.

The hotel is very cute and there are some pros: a great food truck, nice lobby space, in-room fridge. The hotel is right on a very busy street so you hear traffic in your room, especially if your room is toward the front of the property. The bathrooms are old and the shower had bugs in it. There was a dj set the Saturday night I was there and it went on an hour after the listed end time and with my room being so close to the lobby I could hear everything. The staff seemed totally unbothered and didn’t have an option to move me to a quieter room.

I was greeted by a friendly person and the process was swift and smooth. My room was fresh, clean and well designed.

The property and room was beautifully designed. Front desk was welcoming, personable, and helpful.

While we were staying here the electricity went out and when I asked about a refund or discount, the first two times I was given a manager’s number and left messages - never got called back. Today I got a better agent who said to contact Expedia. Poor customer service. It is a cute hotel and I know they can’t control the weather but come on.

I was very disappointed. It was NOT close to downtown at all...overstated in other reviews. We wont be back...sorry.

Very hip property with a happening bar, food truck, and events. Property is from the 1930s but renovated with vintage pueblo vibes. Privacy was a little lacking with the bedroom window facing the parking lot and an ability to hear your neighbors, but nothing extreme. Only a few things in walking distance, but downtown is only a few minutes away by car.

We’d stay again there, having in mind you need a car or an Uber to enjoy the best of Santa Fe

This is a charming place to stay with clean rooms and not expensive. It is located close to all the attractions in Santa Fe.

This is an excellently maintained property that has an historic presence in Santa Fe since the 1940's. Our room was spacious, supremely comfortable, and quiet. There is a food truck on the property that many guests were enjoying, but we walked next door to enjoy the wonderful food at The Pantry. The El Rey is a short distance to downtown Santa Fe by car; less than five minutes.

The property is obviously dated. The location is okay; two miles from downtown. There’s an adequate food truck and modest bar. The air conditioner was noisy and alternated between sounds of a wind turbine and Harley Davidson—don’t expect a good nights sleep.

My 2nd stay. Love the old motor court hotels. Of 3 very near each other this is the best. Convenient location. Comfy.

We loved our spacious 2 bed room in this wonderful vintage motel. So many great art deco / southwest details in the buildings are enhanced by terrific remodeling and upgrades. The location is perfect for Santa Fe, not in town with the tight streets, but further out on the old road. We found it super close to Meow Wolf too, a nice surprise.

The property itself is very nice. It’s very well kept, clean, and comfortable and the staff is great. But unfortunately it’s on a major street with limited walkability. So, if you don’t have a car plan to Uber anywhere you need to go, unless you’re comfortable walking on a major roadway with below-par sidewalks.

El Rey is a wonderful place! There is a yummy food truck and a wood fire pizza option on Sundays and Mondays and the pool is delightful! El Rey also has live music and a bar, we can’t rate this place high enough. It’s an oasis!

The room was actually fine, a little retro, but very clean. My only issue is that I had zero Internet service while in my room, which was at the very back of the property. I was able to get service if I sat outside in the garden area but I really didn’t want to do that, so much phone bill is going to take a big hit for roaming charges. This place owns a food truck instead of having a restaurant. The food was very good but a little over-priced. Staff was very nice.

Not the greatest. Staff was ok but there was no room service, and nothing to eat except for the pantry next door or the trailer on the property..that gets every order literally wrong. It’s also not safe. They have an active bar area that brings in all the assh*les. The day we arrived there was a drunk woman puking in the drive way, I am also a person of color and experienced harassment from some drunk patrons That being said the barista was rly nice and hospitable, but also aware of how rough it can get. We won’t be coming back.

It’s a historical motel from Route 66 era. The architecture and uniqueness of the rooms are amazing. The hot tub area is large and has an outdoor fireplace that makes it a very relaxing area. The onsite bar has tasty appetizers and drinks but is a little pricey.

Don’t believe the hype—and don’t trust the photos. Our room looked nothing like pictures on the web site: small, dark, and to use the desk lamps you had to move the desks. Bathtub not so clean and room was noisy. When we checked in, the deskperson made a big deal of the food truck and showed us the breakfast menu; when we went to get breakfast before rushing to our flight, they told us that there’s no food on tuesdays and Wednesday. Very overpriced for what we experienced and will not be back.

We spent 2 days in Santa Fe and El Ray Court was a big part of how much we enjoyed it. The room was large and clean, but the highlight was the food truck and bar. It was great to unwind with good food and a drink made with local spirits. Would've loved to have spent a few more days there.

The coffee is the worst ever!!!!!!!!! The coffee in the trailer is as bad.. you need a new toaster!!! Had to drive every morning for my coffee!!

A pleasant surprise in every way. Room was large, clean, and tastefully decorated. The lobby area and bar were both smartly designed, and the food truck was tasty and convenient. The bartenders weren’t very nice, although it may have been part of the “hipster aloof” branding.

Really enjoyed the pop up Pizza stand. Great pizza and arugula salad. And La Reina bar always a good option.

It was a very cool throwback hotel that’s been revamped. It had a friendly staff, great bar and live music. Highly recommended it.
