The room was very small for 2 beds. There was a razor left in the shower which lead us to believe that shower was not cleaned. Staff was very nice. There was no working ice machine on 4th floor. No fridge 😕 and the elevator took forever so we ended up using the stairs.

The staff were absolutely fantastic! So lovely. The hotel is very tired and in need of un update and a good cleaning. There was no mini fridge in the room and none of the four ice machines worked. I had to ask for ice from the restaurant next door at the suggestion of the front desk staff. Only two of the three elevators were in service and for extended periods during the day, there was only one elevator. As I noted, the staff are fantastic. The location is great. Attention needs to be paid on the details.

This property is located in a convenient location and close to main attractions and transportation stations. Check in and check out was very smooth. The room was clean and comfortable. Amenities and basic necessities available. I suggest looking into changing the shower head in the bathroom to avoid flooding the floor. It would be nice if the rooms had a mini refrigerator and a safe box. We encountered only one elevator functioning and it was very slow. Stairs were available, but for people with needs is not an option. I will definitely stay again in this hotel.

Only 1 of 3 elevators was working. And that elevator was extremely slow. I suppose understandable if it were just a half day, but this was the case for 2 full days in the middle of the week, mid day Tuesday to mid day Thursday.

Location is key to this hotel! Very close to Times Square and walking distance to all Broadway shows. Hotel does have only 3 limited elevators and sometimes 2 of the elevators would be out of service. Room is small but standard for NYC rooms. Clean and sufficient for a 3 day stay.

Stayed two nights. First night Bedside lights and TV did not work. Second morning there was no hot water. 1 of 3 elevators broken, 3 of 4 ice machines were broken. Window A/C replaced broken built in unit and was very noisy.

There is cockroach on the table in the room. Key cannot access to my room and I have to go to reception for three times but still cannot resolved the issue. Very terrible and I don't recommend anyone to stay in this hotel.

Bathroom was full of bugs. Weird looking, crusted over stains on the bed skirt. Random door to outdoor patio which seemed cool at first until we saw all the garbage (packs of open cigarettes, stained indoor furniture thrown outside).

My first room would not open with the keys they provided to me. The hotel issued me 4 separate keys & none of them worked. In order to get into my room I had to have someone from the hotel escort me to open the door. Once I was actually in the room I was disgusted. The soap tray was falling off the wall in the shower, there was black mold in several places, & broken tiles in the shower & bathroom. that first night I went down several times to get new keys, after the forth time I asked for a new room. The person at the desk said no & made me feel like it was my fault that the keys weren't working and that I was asking for something ridiculous. It also took forever, because only 1 of the 3 elevators was working. After the first night I went to the front desk with the morning crew to tell them about the situation. My partner & I had to walk down 10 stories after waiting for 15+ minutes & no elevator. The morning crew were much more accommodating & issued me a new room. They asked me to repack & bring my things downstairs so they could move everything for me when the room was ready. With only 1 elevator it took forever to get back upstairs, then I had to carry all of our bags down the 10 stories. The elevators kept breaking throughout our stay making it extremely frustrating. Then, on the last day there was no hot water in the shower, & the side table light kept falling off when using it. The only thing good about this hotel was the location. Worst hotel stay ever.

Very average hotel. Remodeled bathroom but shower didn’t drain well. AC wasn’t working in our room so they moved us to a different room, a bigger room at that, with working AC but I don’t think we ever could control it. Hot and cold air blew when it wanted to. At least one elevator never worked. No sound barrier from the hallways or the outside world. But it’s a clean place to sleep and I did appreciate the new room accommodation!

Walls super thin. Cleaning staff is loud and knocks on doors at 830am yelling out house keeping, waking everyone up. I did talk to the manager and he was very nice and apologetic. Great location but loud and older hotel.

Lame interior design. Too many broken parts of the room/ things all over the hotel. No noise cancelling in the room and streets are always noisy. This is the only hotel I could barely sleep.

Pros: The location is very convenient to Times Square, subways, the MOMA and Bryant Square. The bed and bathroom were clean and shower was good. Cons: The rooms are small and cramped and wall paint is peeling. I got a second room that was better than the first. The 2 elevators that work are slow and temperamental. TV service stopped working for one day. The lobby, hallways, and rooms desperately need to be remodeled. The bellman would not help me with my bags without cash up front. Coffee maker is the only amenity. No free water. The charging plugs are old and not great.

The staff was great. The bathroom is a bit small and the shower water often spilled out onto the rest of the bathroom floor. I couldn't find an electrical socket near the bed, thankfully I had a long cord for my charger. Also you had to wait a while for the elevator but that is typical for NYC. In general though the hotel was great and the location was perfect as it was so close to Times Square, Central Park, Rockefeller Center and all of the Broadway shows.

This place is my always go to. Ive been here 3 times already but this last time I went a week ago, the checkout was something ive never experienced and weird to us. when checking out the lady told us to just drop the room cards into a bin but didnt even ask usfor our room number. we waited to make sure everything was good to go and id get my deposit refunded back just like i have the two times ive gone before. She took too long with the gentleman and we had a flight to catch in 3 hours so we had to go because there was nobody else there to help her in the front. I called the same day we landed back to verify everything was good, no answer. ive been calling since monday and now on friday i see they charged me $120 for i dont know what and nobody answers the phone. this is very upsetting this hotel has never disappointed us and we just want answers. ive spoken to my bank to dispute it and they cant even get ahold of them.

We left a Yelp review. No one ever answers the front desk phone and you can't get in touch with anyone which is absurd. The one man at the front desk, Adam was rude and snarky when we checked our friend in . It was awful - all the way around - no amenities and none of the staff were friendly

The reception staff are very friendly and helpful as well as the cleaning lady making our bed and room cleanup. The only concern on my stay is the room that was given to me on the 4th floor can’t connect to the wifi of the hotel. Some rooms I guess have issues on the connection. Because of this, the hotel gave me back the upgrade payment for the room as I was checked in early at the hotel. Other than that the location was perfect in the heart of Time Square.

The service at this establishment is one of the worst i've experienced. At checkin, they said that service fee and additional taxes would be charged at checkout but they charged us at checkin and again a few days later. When I confronted them about it, they said I needed to speak to management who was never there. When I called, the phone lines were inactive. Literally for a week I called the main line and could not connect to a single person, not even the reservation department. Completely unacceptable. I then tried to use the chat feature on the website, 3 days and counting with absolutely no response. I would not recommend this hotel because they do not care enough for their guests to be available. I understand issues arise from time to time, but we had a week stay and they did not care enough about our experience to even try to resolve it. My advice would be to find another.

My stay at The Gallivant Times Square was terrible. I checked in around midnight and was treated rudely by the front desk attendant. He sent me to a rundown room with peeling paint, a broken thermostat, no blanket, and a cold temperature. The room smelled bad, and the condition was shocking for a hotel charging over $300 per night plus fees. When I went back to ask for help, the attendant rolled his eyes and moved me to an even smaller room on the top floor. The elevator was slow, and I felt unsafe, there were intoxicated guests in the hallways. I barely slept that night. The next morning, two women at the front desk were polite and helpful, quickly moving me to a clean room with working heat. That room was acceptable, but the first night was awful and unacceptable. Because of that experience, I would never stay here again.

1. Upside. It is centrally located in the theatre district and Times Square, a block or so from a subway stop, has nice restaurants and pizza joints nearby, so if you want that New York hustle-bustle, you’re in the thick of it here. 2. Downside. A fire station is on the corner. No disrespect to our finest first responders, but you will find any time the engines roll—and roll they do—you’ll hear about it in your room no matter where you are in the hotel. 3. Downside. Do not stay on a low floor if you are there over the weekend. The street noise is endless. If you do, bring a white noise machine to cancel it out. 4. Downside. No phone to front desk in the room. It would have been good to have to complain to the front desk when a noisy guest was pounding—and I mean pounding!—on a door down the hall at 4 a.m. 5. Upside. Room was clean, shower got hot eventually. 6. Downside. Housekeeping left the unsightly service cart and the towel and sheet bundles out in the hallway all the time. 7. Downside. Main floor men’s bathroom water spouts kept falling out of their sockets. Bathroom was clean overall. 8. Upside. Bellman and Front Desk service was excellent—polite, friendly, professional. Overall, would I stay there again? Probably not. I’d pay up for a better hotel if one was available. This time, there wasn’t, so I compromised.

Housekeeping 5 stars. Maintenance 1 star. Elevator problems entire 4 day stay. No food not even vending machines. Noisy hallway after 11pm on our floor. Bed 4 stars. Broken TV not fixed after repeated requests. Missed watching July 4th fireworks. Not recommended for staying unless you can put up with several irritants.

The description of the property is misleading. There is no lounge bar and no breakfast available on site. The rooms lack modern appliances and device plugs, especially close to the bed. The bathroom was good for NYC. It is not a bad hotel, however it is expensive for what you get

This place was awful. Nothing worked. The elevator was unbelievably slow. There weren't even coffee cups in the room ans when i asked the maid for one she said she wasn't given any that day. No heat, the AC dish turn down. Super old. The Japanese resturant attached to the hotel was wonderful and the location is good. It is very noisy but in times square thats to be expected.

Nice little hotel, nothing fancy but great ahower snd comfy bed. Only drawback was the one elevator kept going ofline so it was slow everyone using one. But good location. Carnegie cafe was a block away, E train 2 block, Times Square close..
