Great coffee bar in the morning and the wine hour is always nice.

The Kimpton Theta was a delightful place to stay for our theater weekend! The staff was attentive, courteous, and helpful. The room was spacious and well appointed. The elevators were always quick! We dined at the enjoyable rooftop restaurant which had great views. The location was excellent as we were able to walk to the Broadway shows both nights. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Ac was not working They didn’t tell me until they i pay for total amount went to the room and find out AC is not working in the entire building I canceled my booking , with full refund Refund took 2 months to get with may be more than 5 calls

Above average experience. Suggest better workout room equipment maintenance. Location can’t be beat. Staff was exceptional.

I’ve stayed twice Pros: close to trains and theaters, staff are very nice albeit nobody will be helping you with your bags lol CONS: I stayed 2 separate times in one month - Both times there were elevator issues throughout the entire stay, the worst was climbing 15 flights of stairs to my floor after waiting over 45 min in the lobby because every single elevator was broken…after a 13 hour shift. I’ve actually never seen all 3 elevators working at the same time in either stay. The room lights flicker, the TVs freeze periodically (both stays, different rooms), the water temperature gets extremely hot then extremely cold and the pressure varies from a trickle to a fire hose blasting. Coffee was not available in the lobby at 6am like advertised….I had to ask twice for a coffee maker to be brought to my room. There are 2 smoke shops/dispensaries directly across the street which attract a decent amount of noise all night. I left for the airport extra early the morning of my departure because sitting in LGA was preferred over this hotel and this location.

Three times we were given new keys for both of our rooms. Each time we were lucky if one of them worked. 10pm on Saturday night and roof top bar was closed. We couldn’t get ice from ice machine and after calling the front desk they just said sorry maybe try going to a different floor? 11pm Saturday night in time square and the staff threatened to kick us out bc they said our kids were being too loud. So much for an 18 y/o birthday in NYC.

600 dollars a night and no A/C during. Summer heat Waze.

Great hotel in good location. Rooms were decent sized, staff was so friendly and offered to help deliver addtl items to the room. Coffee downstairs free until 9am. Elevators were quick and water machines next to ice makers were awesome touch. Only meh was the gym - it was small - really not enough room for 2 doing weights but they have 2 peloton bikes, 2 elipiticals, and 2 treadmills so enough to do cardio!

The hotel is very not clean at all, front desk service is horrendous, I understand it’s a very busy season but that’s definitely not an excuse. I am very disappointed cos we have stayed in other hotels in the district, never as bad before. Bedsheets with stains, even after changing. Definitely not recommended for families.

Very small staff, which means no one answers the guest services line; they’re too busy. They also missed my wake up call because apparently I called it in too early - you have to do it right before bed. AC was cranked by housekeeping every time I left the room, so always freezing upon return. The worst part, however, were what I think were drain flies in the shower - I looked up and saw several small winged bugs on the ceiling. Really hoping it was just them and not bed bugs too, though I did check and didn’t see any.

Bathroom had strong urine smell, walls were very thin so could hear the neighbors, cleaning staff had a shouting discussion with full on swear words. Social hour nice and red wine was amazing. Location is great and linens were clean, the soap and shampoo very good. Skimpy amenities for a $500 a night hotel room.

Stay was decent. For the cost of this stay, I will say that was not worth it all. Spent close to $1500 and wasn’t worth the price tag. Paid for a premium room, high floor….the first room was filled with gnats and fruit floors and was extremely humid even with the AC running. Left the room for a little after killing a few gnats and hoping the AC running for a little while exploring NYC would help. It did not help at all, came back to the room after dinner and gnats were still everywhere and the room was not any cooler. Went down and asked to switch rooms, was first offered for an engineer to come spray the room or to move rooms. Opted to switch rooms like we originally wanted, got switch to a room that was not similar to the one that was originally booked. Not a huge deal considering we just needed a place to sleep, but considering the hefty cost to stay at this hotel I do not think it was worth it with the several issues we had. Also the bathroom in our new assigned room was dirty, hair all over the shower and floor. Hair pieces on the bed and comforters as well and extremely dusty.

Chose this “4-star” hotel for its convenient location and good ratings, but the room we got was a motel quality, AC was super loud and couldn’t cool the temperature down. We complained after the first night, they sent in an engineer but he couldn’t fixed it. We were told the manager would contact us for a resolution but never happened. We had to stay for another night with 79F in the room! We had to complain again the next morning and they finally agreed to change a room for us. The new room had a working AC but a clogged slow drain and we even found a clump of hair in the shower! Didn’t bother to talk to the front desk again, we just stayed for the last night. Would not recommend.

Beautiful, clean hotel with great service! Beds are comfortable and rooms are cozy.

Great location and nice lobby area. The rooms have been remodeled but are showing age in places, specifically the bathrooms. Our first room on floor 14 had a leaking sink (open pipe under sink consistently leaked while water was running). I was going to put up with this but when we went to shower and drain flies (6-8) were coming out, I asked to change rooms. Staff tried to help and after an hour or two they got us another room on floor 12. The new room didn’t have drain flies or a leak but we lost our original view. The second room was directly across from a high rise under construction and had no sunlight or view of the street. There were a few gnats in the new room but overall It was decent. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Greeters and concierge in the lobby were nice and helpful. Not a horrible stay but I do would I have made a different choice.

Room 202 has terrible water damage across the entire wall behind the headboard of the bed. It made the room, which was spectacular otherwise, feel like a run down motel.

Pros: great location next to Times Square and many subway stations, friendly staff. Cons: small room, WiFi advertised as 100 mb download speed but the actual speed was less than 20 mb, limited amenities, room wasn’t completely soundproof.

great location, rooms were very clean, easy check in. Surprised at how sound proof the rooms were considering the midtown location. I will definitely recommend this hotel to people visiting NYC.

Bathroom is very small.

I did enjoy my stay here and would happily book the Theta again; my only complaint is the noise levels on the lower floors. I was on the second floor and you could hear the subway line as the trains passed by (vibrations transferred easily into the lower floors at night). The rooftop bar is fantastic and the service and staff made up for the rather noisy room. My colleagues on higher levels reported nothing similar and only mentioned the ambient noise of the city, something I’ve experienced as high up as 50 floors in other hotels.

The woman at the front desk that checked us in her name was Princess she was rather flippant and seemed to be unconcerned and in no rush to help us, considering we stood in front of our desk with no one behind us or no one in front of us for approximately five minutes she had a very course attitude. Then we received our room and if you go on their websiteto double queen rooms are advertised at 325 ft.². We measured our room. It is approximately a little over 200 ft.². They said that there was nothing they could do. This was on Thursday evening when we checked in. A gentleman by the name of Kamal said he would have the engineer contact us which he did not. Friday I received a text from the hotel for a person by the name of Kerridon who inquired how my stay was going, and I said it was not going well at all in fact, I was quite upset and they said they would have a manager call me just to be clear. I was not contacted by a manager. it’s now Saturday night. I’m leaving tomorrow. I’m writing off this place. First, they are lying about the size of their rooms. This is really unacceptable and I said they advertise these queen rooms at 325 ft.² or even 300 ft.² and these are approximately 220 ft.² as we measured them ourselves and included the bathroom and the closet. Not a simple person in Management reached out to me. And finally, this is not in anyway an upgraded hotel. It is at best as we call it a pig with lipstick. It’s not very fancy. It’s an old hotel painted.

Excellent location for Broadway. Will return in the future. My only complaint was lack of drawers to unpack my clothes and put away.

The room size is good, overall this room is very clean, but too noisy in this location, hard to sleep at night!

It was a generously-sized room for the price in NYC. Room was clean and staff was very friendly. Nice central location.

Check-in was smooth and the stay was wonderful. Staff all around was attentive and jumped to help. We saw a show nearby so the location was perfect.

Overall stay at this property was wonderful for amenities and cleanliness. Staff were impatient and largely unhelpful in times, and gave the impression they didn’t want to be there. Restaurant was beautiful and had really good food but very overpriced for portion sizes. Location close to transport and tourist sites. Payment of room was impractical and confusing, especially for international guests using an international form of payment - included predicted pre-authorisation payment of cost of stay upon arrival, then another payment of the actual cost at the end of stay. We stayed for 6 nights with a preauthorised payment of $2,500 and a payment of $1,800 at the end, leaving us now waiting up to 30 days for the return of our payment of $2,500. We had stayed at 4-5 other hotels during our trip and had not come across this method of payment before, so we were confused. I felt we asked politely for clarification on this, and the concierge became defensive and rude straight away, so was unimpressed by this when we were just asking for help, especially at 6am when we needed to get to the airport.

All in all I left this hotel dissatisfied. I requested a room on upper floor at check-in and was firmly rebuffed. The clerk would only repeatedly say “we’re sold out”. I emphasized how important low noise level was to me, and he said he was assigning us to great room not facing 8th Ave. When we got to the room, we were assaulted by construction noise coming from large project right behind the hotel! He never disclosed this. The street noise from 48th was terrible at night. I slept very poorly the entire 3-night stay. I approached the same reception clerk mid-stay and he again said nothing was available. I brought up the construction project and he insisted he had told me about it. This was absolutely not true. He also said he had told me to check with him before noon for possible move to higher floor. This was also not true. Shockingly, he was very augmentative. I thought about seeking out the mgr, but was not up to additional confrontation. We departed knowing that despite its great location, we would never stay at this hotel again. The $450/night cost was NOT a good value. The most positive experience we had was with the housekeeper who cleaned our room. She was delightful. The front desk personnel need to take customer service lessons from her!

All front desk staff were super friendly, and helpful. Parking attached was so easy and convenient. A ton of main attractions are walkable from here. Rooms and property were clean, and I felt very safe. I would definitely stay here again!

Location couldn't be better, lobby was very very small and crowed with check ins and out. The staff at front desk were very rude when I tried to check in their attitude seemed like they looked down on everyone, weren't one bit welcoming. Wouldn't return just because of the front of house staff only !!!!

I was treated rudely by the staff and racially profited. I was treated like a criminal for trying to obtain the waters I was told I would get with my booking. They triple held 1300 dollars on two separate credit cards as a security hold and overcharged me at the restaurant. When I found the mistake they took it off the bill but feel they have shady practices. Beware.

Wow. The only nice person on the staff was the housekeeping lady. The security guard followed me when I went to get water like I was going to steal it, they triple held a security deposit of 1300 dollars on my card, so 3600 for a three night stay, the bar “happy hour” over charged me for the so called 10 dollar wine (33 dollars a glass) among other false charges. When I asked for two new bottles of water because we had checked in again for a new reservation the fourth night they again treated me like a criminal. I spent over 2k for 4 nights and was racially profiled as a pauper I guess.

I travel to NY often for work and this was the top hotels I’ve stayed at. The parking garage is attached to the hotel and validated, already 5 stars. Then the staff was incredibly friendly. Even house keeping was smiling and greeting us every time we passed by. The room was spotless, modern and the beds were super comfortable. It was easy to walk to Westside theater which I did to see Little Shop of Horrors and a quick 20 min uber to get to Brooklyn for bars and a comedy show. I’ll definitely be staying again!

I needed to be at a meeting a few blocks away, otherwise this wouldn't be my location of choice. However, it was perfect for my two-night stay. I found the staff to be 5-star. I ordered Chinese food one night. When I went to the lobby to collect my dinner, I checked the bag and there weren't any plastic utensils. Somehow a young man who seemed to be station in the lobby elevator area saw/overheard and appeared in a flash with utensils. That's five-star service.

The rooms were great, princess at the front desk was exceptional. Roland made our departure seamless.

Wonderful location.

Parking included next door a huge plus if you drive to manhattan for time square visit. Also walking distance to broadway theaters. Somewhat noisy at night but that’s what you get center of manhattan

This property was in an excellent location - close to a subway stop, wonderful for events in midtown, but also well located for going uptown or downtown, and not all that far from the park. It was a short walk into Hell's Kitchen for a change of scene. Inside it was quiet and peaceful, and very comfortable.

Great property - it was very quiet and relaxing as was a block away from TimeSquare. Theatre’s were very close and walkable. Will stay again.

Very nice hotel, loved the complimentary morning coffee and evening wine. Parking right next door however was 130 for 2 days. Local is very close to subway.

Staff was very helpful. Hotel is very secured fir safety. The Breakfast not a lot of options. We had it included our first stay this stay wasnt. It wouldn't have been worth the price. They do offer free tea and coffee in the lobby.

AC was not working properly. The food in the rooftop was not that good.

Very nice property and so conveniently located! The room was a nice size and it appears that it was renovated in the recent past. Complimentary coffee is offered each morning and complimentary wine is offered at Happy Hour. No in room coffee and if you want a full breakfast, you need to go outside the hotel.

The restaurant at the top charged $38.00 per person for a super basic continental breakfast that you could tell was literally the same as a buffet breakfast you would get included in your stay at a budget hotel.

This was an amazing hotel stay! The hotel itself is so nice with big rooms for NYC. Super convenient to Times Square and broadway shows (10 min walk). My 5 year old daughter and I walked to the Empire State Building in about 25 minutes one day. Then walked to Central Park another day also about a 25 min walk. The toiletries were super nice. The free coffee downstairs in the morning was excellent and the available pastries for purchase were amazing. And the free happy hour on the rooftop bar was so nice. They even had mint lemonade for the kiddo. A wonderful experience!

Kimpton hotels are usually better than this. The rooms were fine, just not what’s expected of Kimpton hotels. More so, the food situation at the rooftop was poor. Really just mid quality poorly cooked and overpriced.
