The good: great location (close to Grand Central and a couple of Subway stations), quiet rooms (11th floor), reasonable living space, great shower, and neat lobby/bar areas. The not-so great (not a deal-breaker): the roof-top terrace on the website is only for penthouse guests, the TV/remote in the room is very slow, a resort fee.

Wonderful hotel. The only thing that bothered me was the false advertising around the rooftop. I booked this hotel thinking that we’d have a great rooftop space to relax and have a drink. We found out upon arrival that the rooftop is only available if you book the penthouse.

Just a quick overnight stop on this trip. This is a beautiful hotel with a great lobby bar offering live music on Saturday evening. Guestrooms are spacious and well appointed. We had a corner room and it was surprisingly quiet for NYC. Comfortable beds and great in-room coffee. The bathroom walls and ceiling needed to be wiped down and cleaned better, but the heated floors are a nice touch! Also could use a second set of slippers and bathrobe for a room with two guests noted in the reservation. Well located midtown, we picked it to be close to Lexington shopping and our favourite restaurant walking distance away. Would definitely stay here again.

Our second time in this fine hotel, the staff is great, the rooms are super nice and clean, and the location is great, we walked all over town. Also parking was easy, you can either valet, or self park right across the street. In the evening you can catch a great drink in the bar downstairs. Definitely coming back:)

Before booking I made sure there was the option to pay for a pull out bed for a child as our children cannot sleep in the same bed. In correspondence with the Intercontinental, we were informed that we would get one if available. This was a special occasion for our eldest child. When we arrived we were told no such bed would even fit in the room and the hotel doesn't have any! Instead, front desk tried to upsell us a room which would make no improvement to our situation for a very large sum per night. There was no empathy. Our sleep has been awful. Furthermore our bed had a large hole taped over, there was mold in the shower and small rips in bed sheets. What do you say to children asking why there are holes their bedding when we told them it was a 5 star hotel? The bathroom smelled of cannabis. I couldn't work out if it was coming through the duct system or was the hand wash liquid. The buffet is not reasonably priced for young children, so we ate out every morning. Not a child friendly hotel. It served a purpose (good location) but will go to a different NYC hotel next time.

The location was convenient. The staff was nice. Check in process was easy and nice. The room was not as clean. Some of the surfaces were not clean, especially the round table—food crumbs and salad leftover’s. There was no conditioner in the shower—this was very inconvenient.

A Legionnaires’ disease outbreak happened/is still probably live in the hotel, this cause at least three people to get sick and I was never informed before arriving to the actual room. Legionnaires’ disease, a severe form of pneumonia and it is transmitted by breathing in water droplets that are contaminated the bacteria. The hotel suggestion was to take colder showers and avoid any sort shower/bathtub if you are feeling sick. On top of that, the room was not ready and they offered me to pay an additional $100 if I wanted to get it right away and finally, people from front desk are just awful, we were told our luggage will be following us to the room which never happened even after 3 phone calls in a 60-min period, when we got to the front desk the only response was, we asked the guys to do it but who knows what happened.

Department of health notification received during my stay of legionnaires bacteria in the water. I could not even shower as a result. Disgusting. What was even worse is that while the notice from DOH to the hotel was dated 6/6, I received it on 6/8 after staying and showering in the contaminated water for two days. Absolutely dispicable.

The hotel location is excellent. And it is clean. However, the room was very small and the beds were tiny (too small for two adults so one of us had to share the bed with our 8 yr old son). On the first night I asked for more pillows and they said they had no more pillows. Finally the soundproofing is not good enough for a 5 star hotel. On our last night we couldn’t sleep because of the noise from the neighbors (we could hear everything they were saying). I will not go back.

Great hotel location for Grand Central, Rockefeller Center, Central Park etc with a classy bar, very comfy beds and clean refurbished rooms. Downsides are thin walls…you can hear a lot in the next room…and high floors don’t give you a view.

My friend and I arrived on Friday of Mother's day weekend. The whole point of the trip was for me, a tired mom of two, to have two nights of continuous sleep. Unfortunately on Friday, we were unable to get to sleep because our room was so hot. I called the front desk at 10pm and they said they would send someone to check on the room. By 11:30pm, no one had arrived. So I called the front desk AGAIN. By 12:30 AM, no one had arrived. So I went down to the front desk myself and simply demanded another room because ours had become so hot, we couldn't even be in there anymore. Turns out, the A/C broke in our room. By the time we got settled in the second room, it was 1:30am. Exhausted, I was disgusted to find a questionable brown mark on the wall near the toilette in our new room. Absolutely disgusting. Once I complained to the hotel manager all they could muster up was a free breakfast. Not exactly what I had in mind after having gone through all of that. The second night sleep was no better as the bed in our second room was so uncomfortably soft. There was so support on it.

There is no water in the room, I ordered in room dinner but they never showed up and I waited for over an hour to get my dinner. The alarm woke me up at 6am and then the phone in the my room rang. I can hear people using their bathroom next door, very loud. It was such a terrible stay! !

I booked two nights and then added a third. When I checked in, the receptionist said I would have to change rooms after the first night which they had assured me I would not have to do when I added the extra night. Then bill was wrong at checkout and the attendant was irritated that I questioned it finally conceding I was right. Very unprofessional.

Top notch from beginning to end. After a long drive into the city I was greeted with the warmth and hospitality of the front desk. The lobby is spectacular, old world charm. The bar staff are friendly and accommodating. The rooms are pristine with highend linens and furniture. I think I found my goto property for future visits!

This hotel has been great. I arrived very early for check-in and was able to store my bag and get my check-in started, making it faster later when the room was ready. The front desk staff were all extremely gracious. The room was clean, brightly lit, both USB and regular outlet plugs by the bed for charging devices. All of the furnishings are in good condition, there is a desk and a separate armchair. Dresser and nightstand are actual pieces of furniture, dresser drawers are deep and useable. The room doesn’t have that lingering damp smell that I’ve found in some other hotels. The bathroom has a lighted wall mirror and a magnifying mirror, both are so helpful at a certain age. The shower was clean, white tiled, well-maintained, grout spotless, fixtures in good working order and the provided amenities are of good quality and in full pump bottles. The towels are nice and don’t have that overly bleached smell to them. Note that there is a $25 fee as part of the resort fee that becomes a credit for use in the bar/restaurant downstairs or for room service or the mini-bar, but for a single-night stay, it must be used the day of check-in, it can’t be used the day of check-out, so that is a detail to know and plan around. I would stay here again.

A 30 min checkin line and a 20 min checkout line, missed dinner reservations as a result. Room service was also down, and then to top it off land lines stopped working (the hotel sent us a text message).Unacceptable. Went from a 5 star hotel on prior visits to a 2 star hotel. Being short staffed is not acceptable when paying 1100 including amenity fees. What amenities did I pay for???? I expect a refund on one night of my stay or I will never stay here again. I’ve already began telling colleagues about this hotel.

The Intercontinental Barkley has become my go to property every time I visit New York City… The hotel is extremely well staffed, in a great walkable location & once inside the rooms- it is quiet. The rooms are very clean, it is extremely safe and there is a lovely coffee shop right off of the front of the hotel. It is within walking distance of Rockefeller Center and has a lovely entrance lobby. I highly recommend staying here!

Charming classic New York style decoration with old paintings. This place takes you to old glorious days of this country. Room cleaning very fast and prompt. Good breakfast buffet (I wish they add French toast one day). Location was great. Central and close to many locations in walking distance and at the same time not extremely crowded.

On arrival told there was a $1000 dollar holding fee for 5 nights. The receptionist reduced this to $500 as I stated we wouldn’t be spending this amount at the hotel. We were told that there was a service fee tax on our stay and this was $45 a night. This included some discounts at some shops e.g Bloomingdale’s. Trying to use this discount shopping this was not available in store. This service fee also included $30 dollars per day to use in their restaurant for food/beverage. On leaving, we were given a $450 dollar bill for the service tax and for some nibbles in the restaurant in the evening. On reading the bill, did not take into consideration the $30 included in service fee towards food and beverage. I notified the receptionist which then took this off and gave a bill of $302 dollars. This was then taken off our holding fee and the extra money deposited back the following day. Breakfast was included in our stay and there a very good variety of food in the buffet. Each day the hot breakfast would have different selection with different kinds of sausages, omelettes, veg that set you up for the day. We enjoyed the pastries, salmon, cheeses, yoghurts. In evening we would have a margarita pizza & fries. The food could not be flawed. Well done Chef! Hotel service was mixed. You paid tip for service but felt there was a lack of service sometimes from male waiters/reception. A waitress in the evening and cleaners were kind/hardworking and did not get their names.

Nice hotel , good location . Internet in the rooms is poor and the walls in the rooms very thin . Not great when the people in the next room talk loud between 1 and 5 am ! But a very nice hotel

The property is conveniently located. Walking distance to most in NYC. But beware of the cost of their buffet breakfast! I had a bagel and coffee and was still charged $44 - the cost of their buffet breakfast! I'd stay here again because of the convenient location and cleanliness, I just learned to go down the street to the coffee shop on the corner for breakfast!

The TV didnt work for two days they could not solved the problem. On Room 1415 one day on room 1414. They didn’t make the room in two days we call 5 times and they did it. Bad customer service. They charge $60 for a coke in the buffet. It’s because you sat on the table they don’t ask if you eat something. They try to take advantage of the guest. I spent $5,945 for 3 rooms , bad customer service

The room needed vacuumed when we checked in. There was room service dirty dishes sitting in the hallway all day and even after we called to complain. This hotel room was in need of a remodel.

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Valet was a breeze. Perfect location for walking to almost everything we wanted to do. Clean rooms and easy and reasonably priced upgrade for late check out. Will stay here again.
