Loved that they had a longe on floor 2 that you can relax and have complimentary refreshments and snacks. Very nice restaurant downstairs and rooftop bar.

Booked The Library as I had stopped in a sister hotel on last visit to NYC, and I knew they had a rooftop bar and a great complimentary cheese board. Was very disappointed to learn the rooftop bar was closed for a private event until 9pm and that’s where the cheeseboard was offered! Won’t book here again.

Thoroughly enjoyed my short stay here. I was in the "Management" room on the 6th floor. Small, but more than ample. Books everywhere, which was a delight. Also enjoyed time in The Reading Room area and the Bookmarks Lounge. Would most definitely stay here again.

Library Hotel was a great stay! Rooms were clean and comfortable, with nice little library-related touches. Loved that we had fruit-infused water, water bottles and fruit and snacks and a casual place to hang out in the Reading Room - it could have been even better if there were more cushy couches/arm chairs but every hotel definitely needs a reading room! Fun, quirky hotel with excellent restaurant and rooftop bar. Reading room is wonderful. Rooms small, but well organized.

This is an outstanding property in every way. Fantastic location, great rooms (we were in a junior suite), terrific bed, lovely amenities (loved the 24/7 coffee and snack room), and BOOKS! Will come Back for sure!

We had a lovely time at the Library Hotel. It’s very cozy place with a great rooftop bar and a nice lounge with snacks, tea, coffee, and soft drinks included. Best of all it’s a very short walk to Bryant Park, Grand Central, the theater district, and it’s easy to get any where in the city from the location.

We loved having 24 hr access to the 2nd floor for coffee, beverages and snacks.

The Library Hotel is an oasis in crazy New York. Very handy for a visit to the Public Library, close to Grand Central Station, but also an easy walk to Broadway, Madison Square Garden and Central Park. For anything else the Metro is efficient and easy to use. The rooftop bar is great for drinks or a light meal, while the residents' lounge was handy for coffees, snacks and soft drinks. We hadn't realised we had breakfast included - well worth it as the restaurant did a decent variety of options...and was also excellent in the evening if you didn't want to leave the hotel after a long day sightseeing. I would pick the Library Hotel again if I come back to NYC

The Library Room that offered 24/7 coffee, water, sodas & snacks was a nice quiet place to come to hang out and relax. It’d be very nice to have some comfortable reading chairs and reading lamps in at least some portion of this large room - make it more like a real reading room. Biggest negative was not being able to get access to the rooftop bar on a number of occasions because of private events and/or being totally reserved. As the hotel bar, it seems inappropriate & was very disappointing that as hotel guests we more often than not were unable to use it. The rooftop bar is one feature that really drew us to book the Library Hotel…

When I turned on the shower...Brown water came out and the drain was semi plugged and slow for the water to drain. At the end of my shower I was standing in 5" of water. I told the front desk and was told that is normal. I was expecting a discount for the inconvenience. I let them know of this issue after the first night of my 3 day stay. I left disappointed. For the money I spent per night, I was expecting better hospitality.

I’ve stayed at your hotel years ago and it was wonderful. With that said, I was so incredibly disappointed this time. The hotel is so rundown. The rooms were old, the walls were stained, the towels were so ratty that they felt like sandpaper, the sofa was disgusting, and the toiletry products were sub par. If you want to continue charging what you do, then you need to do some simple upgrades.

The staff were lovely and my room was clean and cozy. I absolutely loved the Reading Room. The downstairs restaurant and rooftop lounge were also nice.

This property has lost its soul. The service on 2nd floor, which was so iconic to hotel, is gone; the room interior was worn out and dated; and the resort fee is a joke. Very sad for someone how has stayed for so many years.

Wonderful location and great boutique hotel! Walking distance from grand central, Bryant park and 10-15min walk to other attractions (MoMA etc). Rooms are super clean - no view from the windows but not an issue given the views are just an elevator away!

Plumbing issue existed, tub drain not draining and “coughing” up sandy debris.

Excellent hotel from the minute we walked in the door. Friendly and helpful staff, very clean, a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle outside the door.

The staff here were incredible. Everyone is super professional, the hotel's clean, and easy to navigate in the city. I ended up having to stay at another NYC hotel during this trip as my flight was cancelled and this hotel was unfortunately overbooked, that hotel was absolutely horrible (Millennium Downtown) and the Library in comparison was lightyears better! Cannot recommend this hotel enough. The room was always spotless, it's so quiet throughout the hotel (much like a legit library haha). I had the best stay here, so relaxing. Seriously if in NYC, book here. You won't regret it!!!

Loved the Library concept. Rooms were clean, larger than expected and attended to daily. Front Desk was wonderful.

Arrived less than an hour after landing at LaGuardia and catching a cab. Able to check in early- room was small but had plenty on room for two of us and our suitcases. Decor was cute, and loved the blackout shade. Nice size shower - easy to turn on and figure out- nice water pressure. Lots room for toiletries. Lots of shopping and restaurants near by. Felt safe walking with my tean daughter. Walked Daily to broadway for shows. Loved the 2nd floor had free coffee every morning there and grabbed free water from the frig- very convenient to have a place to just sit! Our last morning we walked to Grand Central easily to catch a train. Staff very helpful and nice. Already booked another stay.

Convenient (near grand central and broadway) and comfortable. Room was a bit small for two people but the bed and pillows were great. As was the second floor lounge. The restaurant attached was nice.

The 2nd floor lounge made this trip. Loved the option to grab a coffee or water. Complimentary cheese board on the rooftop bar (as long we you buy 2 drinks). Gave a solo traveller same portion as a couple of which was nice to see. Room was very dark despite being over 41st street. Even with blinds open, I needed a light to see. I think it was a dark wood finishes. Bed, bedding and pillows were very comfortable. TV was tiny but didn’t really use it. Bathroom good and a decent size for one. Aircon was spot on. Will definitely look to stay again as so close to the areas I wanted this trip.

This is a lovely hotel in a great area for public transportation and is just steps away from Grand Central Station. The only drawback was the very loud construction work on the building being conducted through October according to the permit posted. The loud grinding or drilling noise vibrated in my room during the time I was there during the day.

Rooms were roomy (for nyc) and perfect location. 2 blocks from Bryant park and 3-4 to Times Square. 2 blocks from 5th Avenue. Rooftop bar drinks were delicious and space was welcoming and fun. Could not have asked for better service with check in/ check out. Great value for a fabulous hotel.

The Library is very conveniently located, with a professional and polite staff. It is very clean and well maintained. The books in the rooms are a nice touch as is the availability of light snacks and drinks in the reading room. A note of caution- the petite room IS petite and ok for short stays for 1 person but not more.

We were never able to find the place! We called to get directions and ask about parking. The person that answered and was terribly rude because we had called for directions and another time to ask where we are to park. Instead of being helpful he was rude and wouldnt give us directions. We never even found the place, terrible way to treat people who are not local and having trouble. We left the city immediately and will never be back.

I have stayed here before and didn't realize it was 13 years ago and besides some process changes, The Library Hotel continues to be clean, have wonderful and friendly staff and is in a great location for shopping, walking and catching public transportation. And shout out to the woman that keeps the 2nd Floor Reading Room stocked and clean; she does an EXCELLENT job.

I found The Library Hotel to be conveniently located for all the mid-town attractions (NY Public Library, Times Square, Empire State Building, shopping on Fifth Avenue and Grand Central Station). It's also clean and the bed was probably the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The shower was great, too! The staff were very polite and helpful. The restaurant, Madison & Vine, serves very tasty meals. It's a little overpriced but that's to be expected for the mid-town. I will definitely stay at The Library again.

Everything about our stay met or exceeded our expectations. I especially liked the 2nd Floor lounge and 1 pm checkout.

The hotel touts itself as a luxury boutique when in reality is it just a small hotel. I would not call it high end and I have stayed at hotels with similar price points but much cozier and elegant. The 24 hour library lounge and snacks, and the rooftop terrace, are nice. If you book the petite room, be aware that it is extremely small (smaller than any dorm room I've had) and that it is a double (not queen) bed. In addition, there is no place to sit to watch TV or relax, other than a very stiff desk chair. Very little room also to put a suitcase down on the floor. And no door to the bathroom (just the toilet). There is no continental breakfast, only an add on for a voucher for $20 to have it in the onsite restaurant. There was confusion about this at the front desk. The area around the hotel is good for walking - going to Fifth Ave, Bryant Park, Times Square. Not so great for shopping or restaurants though. Mostly business, not residential. I did not like that they have a very restrictive reservation policy. With most hotels on Expedia, you have until 24 or 48 hours before to cancel. This one was 7 days. Also, if you have to cancel, it is not one night's penalty, it is the whole trip. That made me very uncomfortable. When I spoke to Expedia, they said that the hotel would refund me if I changed hotels, but the hotel said bluntly "no". So, confusion about that also. I found the staff to be somewhat snippy and uncaring that I was not happy with the room.

Stephen the doorman at the Library Hotel is very polite, friendly and helpful. Which is the reason I changed my rating from a 4 star to a 5 star review. To the hotel manager, I would like to say that Stephen gives an excellent first impression of the hotel and deserves a pay rise for his excellent attitude.

Service provided and the location. Great location for tourist sites and shopping. Initially had a small issue with our room, but the manager changed us into a different room, with an upgrade. Loved the new room. Very kind. As was his time as we chatted for 20 minutes about restaurants. Excellent restaurants around. Madison and Vine was so convenient and excellent as was the Mediterranean restaurant around the corner. Really enjoyed the 24 hour access to the room on level 2 for complimentary drinks and snacks. Some variety would be great though. Gym access to Blink fitness was seamless. Hard working doorman was delightful. Thanks for a lovely stay.

I spent a weekend here and enjoyed my stay. The staff were very nice and accommodating. The location is excellent. Right next to Grand Central Station. If you’re flying into JFK you can take the LIRR directly to Grand Central which is especially convenient. You are within walking distance of many of the City’s top attractions. The rooms were nice and functional. However they are very small and have some wear and tear. But that’s the case with most of nyc’s hotels. They have a relaxing and comfortable lounge on the 2nd floor with coffee, fruit, and snacks. They also have roof top bar which is pretty cool.

Good location, pleasant rooms, friendly staff and the 2nd floor lounge is a nice facility. Downsides - it's not very easy to find, surrounded by scaffolding; the rooms are a little dark (nothing better lighting wouldn't fix); and there are no coffee-making facilities in the rooms, which is just wrong.

Convenient location in midtown with very nice rooftop bar. Lots of construction in the immediate area so quite noisy.

Very happy with our stay here. Great location and very good on site restaurant. The snack area was much appreciated too (included in the additional daily resort fee). Very walkable to Rockefeller Center and Times Square and Broadway shows, as well as very quick walk to Grand Central station to catch the subway to everywhere else we wanted to go.

Highly recommend! The staff was wonderful, and the hotel very clean and well-kept. We loved that there was the 2nd floor reading room filled with books, tables to work from, and 24 hours of beverages and snacks. We weren't so thrilled with the first-floor restaurant. The roof bar had great appetizers and a wonderful staff. Close to everywhere we needed to be and out of all the major noise and congestion of the City. We will be visiting again, as well as their other hotels.

My wife and I had a wonderful five-day stay at the Library Hotel. The location on the corner of Madison and 41st Street is conveniently a block from Bryant Park and the NY Public Library to the west, and Grand Central Station to the east. With regards dining, there are a dozen restaurants within a block of the hotel, as well as the Madison & Vine restaurant adjacent to the first floor check-in area. We especially enjoyed the 2nd floor lounge, a book-filled library space, with coffee, tea, and snacks 24-7. The rooftop bar-lounge is a pleasant place to spend a couple of hours relaxing. Finally, hotel staff was attentive, friendly, and helpful, ready to provide assistance or information whenever needed. A special thanks to Office Manager Arman for helping us with transportation upon our departure, as well as Doorman Steven for his cheerful self.

Amazing experience. Wish the Bookmarks menu was a little more robust with options. Also, needs to make note of allergens. Will definitely return.

Staff was excellent. Extremely helpful. The library on the 2nd floor is the best thing about the hotel. Coffee, tea, sodas, nuts and fruit are always available in that comfortable room. Great place to gather. Picked up bagels in the morning, brought them back there for breakfast. Room was very small for the price. I've stayed all over the city for higher and lower prices, this was one of the smallest rooms. Service at the rooftop bar and in the 1st floor restaurant is very slow.

This is a great place to stay in a great location. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The library was so nice, especially being able to grab snacks and drinks after walking around the city. Breakfast was good every morning and the coffee was so good!

The place was beautiful and will definitely be staying here next time we visit New York. Unfortunately the restaurant downstairs was a bit of a let down.
