Holiday Inn Houston S - NRG Area - Med Ctr by IHG

Transportation service, driven by Pauline Ford, was incredibly, convenient timely, safe and personable. Made the challenge of the trip much easier to handle.

We checked in late Thursday night ahead of a Friday concert, knowing we’d have an early start the next morning. First off—charging three times the normal rate just because of an event? That’s daylight robbery. When we got to the room, it was uncomfortably hot. We tried turning on the AC, but it barely pushed out any air. The hotel was fully booked, so switching rooms wasn’t an option. The room itself was clean, but not exactly what you'd expect for $1,400 over three nights. Paint was chipped on the walls and doors, and the hallways were scuffed up and worn down. After the concert, I told the front desk (again) that the AC wasn’t working. I didn’t catch the staff member’s name, but he was kind and brought us a fan. He promised maintenance would stop by in the morning. Maintenance did show up—kind of. The guy walked in, yanked the AC cover off, slammed it back on, and left without saying a word. That was it. And the parking situation? Total chaos. Hotel guests are charged for overnight parking, yet when there’s an event at NRG, they sell the lot for $60 to the public. Saturday night during the Morgan Wallen concert was a mess—hotel guests had nowhere to park. Bottom line: there are much nicer hotels in the area, including one right across the street. Save yourself the money and frustration. The front desk worker that brought us a fan gave us two vouchers for a free breakfast, which was thoughtful, but we don't eat breakfast, and they were of no use to us.

Stayed here for an appt. At MD Anderson. $7 charge for parking for an open gate parking lot is a little ridiculous considering there are hotels within a mile down the road with free parking and a security gaurd. There was one but he was more concerned with my husband smoking in our car than anything else. I wouldn't have booked here had I seen there was a charge to park The room was clean and comfortable. Overnight staff was friendly. Pool was closed. Dryer was broken.

If you are going to the NRG park be prepared for the gate to close @ any given time!! Ask someone at the desk the times that the gate is open. We walked to the NRG center to return to a locked gate. Maybe come up with a key entry to the gate!!

Property was conveniently located next to NRG stadium. Property is run down and needs to be remodeled. The gym was less than ideal with very little options.

This location is next door to the NRG Stadium! The hotel opens a gateway to the stadium parking lot and it’s a quick walk to get into the stadium! Excellent location of your attending an event at NRG stadium!

Hotel was fully booked with only 1 elevator working, it was very stressful waiting to go up or down to the rooms.

Was very convenient for an appointment at the nearby medical center. Transportation was provided by the hotel.

Dated, but clean. Horrible hours related to food/drink. Charging for parking? That’s new for this property. And not in a garage or valet, just simple parking in their own parking lot, lol. Next we will probably see a resort fee!

This property looked NOTHING like the pictures that are on the website. The pool was dirty, and had a vacuum in it our whole stay. The pool area had 3 different operation times posted. There were 3 total lounge chairs in the whole pool area. Our outlets only worked with the light on & our TV stopped working the last night. When I asked about a refund, I was told to bring it up with Expedia.

Hotel needs a little TLC. There was some moldy stuff on our bathroom wall and it smelled a little musty.

I had NO shower curtain and no time to wait for them to bring me one so I had to shower with no curtain (really confused why there wasn’t one in the room already). The curtain just so happen to not go all the way to the wall so the sun comes in right on your face in the morning. When I went to check out I tried to pay for my incidentals with cash but I was told there weren’t any. Then I find a $17.00 charge on my credit card that I didn’t want. Other than that the property was nice and clean and the staff was friendly. The room was big and a comfortable space.

Checked in and the TV did not work. Went to wash my face and no hot water in the bathroom sink. When you open the door to go into the room, it screeches and makes a horrible loud noise. What I noticed is a lack of proper care and maintenance. Never again!

THe staff at the front counter was excellent. The bed had black specks of dirt and the carpet was extremely dirty and needed to be deep cleaned.

Check in person was rude and the rooms were not clean . The toilet had left overs from the previous guest

Friendly staff, very clean from entering the hotel, to the room, pool. We went for a Texans game and this hotel was the best. has its own entrance to the game. Didn't have to worry about parking.

I was very disappointed with the condition of the room during my recent stay. The room was poorly maintained, outdated, and not clean. The toilet was not flushing properly, and there was no hot water in the wash basin.

However, I must commend the third manager who intervened and handled the roach situation promptly and effectively. Their professionalism and swift action in resolving the issue were greatly appreciated. Furthermore, the inconvenience of having only one elevator operational during my stay added to the challenges I faced. As a business traveler, I value efficiency and comfort during my accommodations, and unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. While I understand that renovations may be ongoing at your property, I urge you to prioritize the maintenance and functionality of guest rooms to ensure a pleasant stay for all visitors. We saw a cockroach in our room..! Room was not clean the next day even though we told the housekeeper and the front desk about it

Nice property with a great view of NRG stadium. The staff was very polite and helpful. The only downside was that Expedia showed the pool closed at 11pm but when we arrived we were told it closed at 10pm so we didnt get to swim. The pool looked nice.

We stayed here for the location this hotel has to NRG. Otherwise, there's no way we'd pay premium price we paid for the shape of this hotel. It's in desperate need of a remodel. Even the hotel attendant said this!!!

The room I stayed in had a loud ringing noise so loud that the ac noise wouldn't drown it out. It's wasn't worth $130 for one night. Other than the noise, everything was great.

Proximity of where it was in regard to my trip. Staff was wonderful. Room felt very dated though, maybe it just hadn’t been through the renovation part yet…

My daughter and i were in Houston for Cheerleading Competition at NRG . Our suites were fantastic accommodations ! Big , spacious and comfortable ! My second time staying there when in Houston .

Room was clean. However the TV was having issues throughout the hotel. Reported it right away to the front desk. They told me that they were away and working on it. It never got resolved. TV was still broken the next morning. No complementary coffee till after 630am. Worst experience was the bed. Like sleeping on a rock. So hard both of us were sore for two days.

Staff was rude at the front desk. They double charged me and had to follow up twice on getting my refund for one of the charges. The room smells like mold and outdated not worth the charge.

I had a horrible experience. I arrived earlier than everyone else, yet people who came after me were checked in before me. The front desk staff stated they were prioritizing clients who had checked in online. However, when I tried to check in online, the system directed me to go to the front desk for assistance. When I asked the staff for help, they claimed they didn’t know how to assist me and told me to wait until everyone else had been checked in. This was extremely frustrating and unprofessional.

I had to book one extra day on the front end of the trip. the front desk made my crew check out and check in later that day to finish the trip. Was charged for incidentals on both. Lots of money poor service. There is no reason for this. 6 rooms for a week and they had to pay $100 incidentals for one night and $100 for the rest of the trip. refundable 7-10 days. rediculous.

We stayed at the hotel to attend a concert at nrg stadium. It was soooo convenient with an easy short walk through the outdoor gate of the hotel. If fed right into the stadium parking lot, avoiding any walking on the road. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the check in staff were courteous and professional. I would definitely stay here again!

We had an anime convention and could walk thru gate right to convention center. This was super convenient!

It is probably the best option if you are going to Houston solely for a concert and not for any other sightseeing. They have a small walkway that takes you to a parking lot that’s right next to the stadium and you just walk through that parking lot and you're at the stadium. So I booked it strictly for convenience because I was not renting a car and I only stayed two nights. I arrive the day before the concert and stayed overnight and then the day of the concert went to the concert, came back, slept again, and left for the airport the next morning. It was perfect for my needs. I also enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant in the morning and it was very good. Some of the facilities need to be updated but there is a very large sign in the lobby indicating that over the course of the next couple of years. They will be updating those facilities. So I often don’t detract for those things because it’s clear they are aware and working on it and things like that take time.

Rude staff, terrible coffee (tastes like soap and very weak , mostly water), bad soda when ordered dinner, asked for replacement, was accused of lying. Then second one was bad. I tried explaining that maybe the machine or carbonated water was malfunctioning, was ignored. Very uninterested in help me. Same goes for front desk at check in, and breakfast. Zero customer service skills needed to work here. 259 days a year I spend in hotels across the country, and out of, I will never use this place again. Back to Marriott where we are treated like humans.

It was an easy drive to MD Anderson which suited us. We were disappointed that there is NO breakfast as promised. They did reimburse the extra cost for breakfast

First of all for the price of the stay I would have expected everything to be covered. Yet we had to pay $10 for parking a night, there was no complimentary breakfast and if you wanted to eat there it was $15.95 a plate The food was not to that level. Also, the refrigerator in the room was to be laughed at.

The property was clean but nothing above a “ motel -level “ property. The front desk employees were very helpful. They only had one restaurant. Breakfast was only until 10:30 am and until 9 am on Sunday. I woke up two days in a row with something weird in the sink that appeared to be water that came up from the drain in the middle of the night.
