Hotel is fantastic - truly the only problem is the elevator, and it's a huge problem. They only have one bank of 3 or 4 elevators serving 23 floors, and you have to wait up to 10-15 minutes to get an elevator if you're on the lower floors at peak check-in and check-out hours.

It was a nice stay. Just be mindful we didn’t realize was it was valet only so $54 a night to park. Which is my fault because I didn’t read. But the hotel and staff were nice.

The front desk and bell station was good. The bar staff at the District was terrible and overwhelmed. It wasn’t that busy and we were at the bar, ordered a second round and never got it, got frustrated and left after 10+ minutes. The frustration Sunday of only one working elevator and waiting 10+ minutes before walking down the stairs 6 floors with suitcases was a topper to our visit. Get your elevators working and train your staff. 3 out of 10 stars

In general everything was good, the location, room, food and staff was great. The only bad thing is that the pool needs maintenance. Is missing some tiles and my daughter had a small cut on her toe.

The property is beautifully decorated however the room had a slight mildew smell to it and the elevators were a nightmare. Sometimes we were waiting over 15 minutes for an elevator just to end up having to walk up 8 flights of stairs. Sometimes when we did get an elevator children had pressed all the buttons so we’d have to stop at every floor. One elevator was out of order so hopefully the third helps this a little when it’s in order.

The property was in the middle of everything I was attending which was great. Parking was great. When you get off the elevator down the hall it smelled like urine!! My room was very spacious but wasn’t cleaned properly and had a very strange red stain by the entry way!!

The hotel has a beautiful, welcoming lobby and a convenient bar and restaurant within. However, as we got off of the elevator to go to our room, the odor was not pleasant. It smelled musty and damp. Thankfully, our room did not contain the same odor. Our room was comfortable and clean, which is a must for me! The hotel was located within walking distance to many restaurants and bars.

My son got bitten badly by bed bugs. Around 30 bites. Although the hotel staff did move me to another room when requested. They did not compensate me or apologize. Now one week later, I had to take my son to urgent care because he is having an allergic reaction to the bites.

The rooms themselves were okay, but you can hear absolutely everything. Even from several doors down which made it hard to relax. The TVs in both my room and my friend’s room were basically unusable. The remotes didn’t work, and even after she asked for new batteries or a replacement remote, nothing improved. When I went back to my room and tried mine, it was the same issue. It felt like half the buttons didn’t respond at all. It may seem like a small thing, but when you’re paying the prices this hotel charges. Especially when they nickel and dime you for everything, a working TV remote shouldn’t be too much to ask. We also ordered room service, and while the man who delivered it was very kind, the food itself was extremely mediocre and wildly overpriced. The biggest disappointment, though, was the service downstairs. Aside from the younger woman who helped us check out this afternoon (she was great), most of the staff were rude, dismissive, and acted incredibly pretentious. Definitely not the standard of hospitality you’d expect, especially coming home as a Houston native. They could really benefit from better customer service training. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing experience.

We did not have a microwave nor a refrigerator in our room. I have never been without these two ever .This was the first time that I have experienced this. We were very disappointed. I checked around and saw that some rooms had one or the other. Some had both. I will now make it a point to ask before we finalize any future trips.

Our room 1501 was a little warm for us. The ac couldnt keep up i believe. It wasnt anything that we couldnt deal with and didnt want to make it an issue.

Incredible value! Clean and tidy hotel with a great vibe, and the price can't be beat. Room was somewhat small, but the bathroom was spacious. Location was perfect - close to what we were doing on Texas St. in Downtown Houston. It was all we needed for a quick overnight in Houston!

The GOOD first : The LOCATION is excellent - the bed and bedding was super comfortable. And some of the staff was very nice and friendly. The NOT so Good: Some staff in the restaurant - not so much. I sat for 5 minutes waiting for the server (who walked by me no less than 3 times) to provide a plate for the buffet. And was rude on top of it. Internet was HORRIBLE in the rooms - downstairs it was fine, but I had meetings I needed to take in my room, so that was inconvenient. Food was VERY mediocre to not really that good. No microwave in room (a little odd these days) Elevators were EXTREMELY slow - even had to take the stairs one night as there were so many people waiting. Just glad I got the Expedia price instead of prices listed on their website - I would have been very disappointed.

Overall, I was disappointed. Booked two rooms for a family trip. Check in was fine, room was mostly fine. Nice atmosphere. Had breakfast in the restaurant and that’s where things started downhill. Waitress was borderline surly, obviously not interested in her job. Table had utensils for two. None provided for other two diners until we asked for when food was delivered. There were few diners in restaurant, so no real excuse for poor service. On an ala carte meal, meat wasn’t delivered with meal. Finally brought after diner finished meal. Buffet had run out of items. There was no soap in bath dispenser the entire visit. Room was serviced, but coffee station wasn’t. Had to go to front desk to ask for replacement items. Maid was playing music outside room at 9am Saturday morning. Had to ask her to turn it down. These aren’t major things, but all could easily be remedied. Won’t stay there again.

Brooke was phenomenal! Her customer service is top notch! I was appreciative and humbled by how kind and professional she was. It’s a rarity these days. She made my stay at Magnolia a very pleasant experience. The district restaurant was good too. They were quite personable and the breakfast was delicious! Good customer service at the District. And lastly, the milk and cookies! 🍪 Yummy!!! Need I say more!

Terrible service A server by the name of Francesco or however you spell it because he approached me without a uniform so I had to ask who he was but out of nowhere he was hostile about me having outside food and when I told him that there was no signage he deliberately lied about it being rude and obnoxious. The front desk staff ignores you unless you’re of the proper hue. I hated my stay because everyone passed the bucket when it came to answering questions or getting assistance.

The day we checked in was busy as it was an Astros game but the staff was quick and efficient while still being friendly and helpful! The rooms were clean, very nice, and great! We requested a rollaway bed and they had it brought to the room promptly given it was busy. The valet were also very quick in bringing the car down.

Our experience at The Magnolia Houston was Fantastic! Dawan was a life saver by helping us get two connecting rooms and a rollaway. I booked the wrong space by accident but he was able to make adjustments to accommodate us.Moreover, there is a shuttle directly to events in the immediate 1 mile area. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the server (Robert, Specifically, was excellent!

I was very upset and disappointed withour stay at this hotel. We won't be staying at this hotel again. I called in advance to ask if our rooms could be on the same floor and together. I also asked if we could check in early. The manager Dwan said we could get that done for our arrival time. When we arrived three of the four rooms were available. They told me my room wasn't ready that they would call me when it was ready. They said they could get me into another room but it would be away from the rest of family. I told them I would wait for the room. I waited for awhile. Then I called the manager to see the status of my room. He told me he was going to call the cleaning crew and he would call me back in 3 minutes. I waited to hear from him but he never called back. I decided to call again and he had gone on a break. I was really upset with his customer service which I thought was very unprofessional. Then I was told by the receptionist I could still have the room they had offered me away from my family so I decided to take it. When I walked into it smelled like fresh paint. I also had a dirty sponge left on the counter. I then went downstairs to request if their was another room I could be moved too because the paint smell was strong. I was told by receptionist that they were fully booked. I was very upset about the situation in my room. Worst customer service I have ever received at a hotel. I don't recommend staying there.

Apart from parking being $54 plus tax. It’s a great location and the shuttle is free if needed. Some folks park themselves and walk round. You can save about $30, but Houston streets in the wet with cases is no fun.

The gentleman that was working the dining room on the 2nd floor for breakfast service was doing 5 jobs at a time and was still so attentive and polite. Give that man a raise! He deserves it. 👏

The hotel was pleasant and comfortable for a downtown hotel. The price was reasonable. The room was quiet and the bathroom was clean. The dining food was too pricey especially since it was not very good. However there are interesting restaurants around to try out. Even though you have to use valet, the valet staff were attentive and quick. We felt comfortable walking to the Alley theatre. The Astros were playing that weekend and there were a lot of guests at the hotel.

Hotel was beautiful! Location was great! We stayed on the 21st floor which had an amazing view however it sometimes meant waiting for 15 min or so for an elevator. Our stay included breakfast which was just ok. The restaurant on site seemed understaffed for breakfast causing us to have to wait way too long for drinks and plates for buffet.

Our stay was nice. The hotel was good, service was good, but the breakfast was over priced... $20 for basically a buffet breakfast (but you can get your eggs done in the kitchen if you like, that was a nice touch). But the pancakes were warmed too long, and the other choices pretty standard. The Paris Cafe right next to the hotel is a good breakfast/coffee option. The ice machines were hit and miss (they're on every 3rd level) the soda machines were all empty. The rooftop pool was nice and refreshing with a very nice panoramic view of the city and the workout room was nicely equipped. Though the hotel was nice there are a few heads up. Parking is expensive, but you are downtown. There is a garage kitty corner from the hotel for $30/day. Valet parking is $45/day. Homeless folks right down the block making walking somewhat uncomfortable, especially for my wife. She refused to walk alone, smart girl. I would be cautious at night. Go in a group and you should be okay. The old town is very close, just a few blocks with good options for food and entertainment. The trolly is about a block away. The Astros ballfield is a few blocks down the street. Overall, considering the costs of other downtown hotels, this was a good value.
