We found a deal for this hotel that was too good to be true, and boy, was it ever. For background, the hotel texts you when you book the room asking that you to check in online & text their number if you need anything. We chose this property for beautiful pictures of their outdoor pool and a fun indoor water park for our 3 year old to enjoy. What we were not told at booking OR when I went to the desk for our room keys is that the pools are CLOSED. We found this information out from other guests as we roamed the building looking for the pool. I texted the number provided for confirmation that the pools were closed, but received no response. Why pay a $20 a day resort fee for a stay in an empty, rundown building with no amenities? My family is very disappointed, and would not recommend wasting time or money here.

Pool hours were terrible check in was 4:00 check out 11:00 a.m. pool opens at 11:00 a.m. he only get a few hours after checking to use pool even though you can use the pool after 11:00 until 9:00 p.m. after you check out property was overgrown outside the building nothing seem to work the way it should as far as ice makers in the hallway Jets and the hot tub amongst other things

Awful experience. The outside lazy river was out of order. The body slide was out of order. The lifeguards were more concerned with their phones then actually watching the water. There was a build up of mold on the sides of the pools. We had a non smoking room that smelled like smoke. Luckily we were able to get a different room.

While the property was clean and check in was nice and easy, we were not aware before we booked that the water park here was closed Mon-Wed. The park also doesn't open until 3pm. The outdoor water park is pretty much non existent, most pools are closed off and the water slides are gone. I wish we had known about this before booking but never saw anywhere that this was the case. When we did get to go the indoor pools were very clean and the kids had a lot of fun. The resort is super close to everything in the dells. We would stay again, but hope they can reopen the water park.

The outdoor lazy river was closed, there were multiple old outdoor children’s pools that had been filled in with dirt and planted in (looks tacky, the pool signs are all still around the ground of them) the balcony was inaccessible probably due to the fact it looks ready to rot away, and the beds were really stiff and hurt our backs. it was cheap and well taken care of otherwise, which makes up for most of it.

Do not book this hotel based off the pictures or amenities listed alone. It is quite disappointing when you arrive. The majority of the pools and the lazy river outside are not up and running and neither was the waterfall. The indoor water park had a musty smell - almost like sewer but could have been all the chlorine. Our room was very spacious and clean. The shower head was cracked but it still worked. The hotel is more for if you aren't planning to hang there the entirety of your stay and use the facilities. I would have rated it higher had the outdoor pools/lazy river/waterfall not been advertised and not actually working.

The room smelled so bad when we got in there that i requested a different so but then when we walked in the new room it had the same smell and realized it was the whole.building. thinking maybe it was mold because a chair visibly had mold on it. Then the TV didnt work because their internet sucks we had to use out hotspot. Then simply becauae we had no choice we extended the room but the manager came and kicked us out saying it smelled like marijuana which was a lie because we didnt have any. We had to spray perfume to cover up the nasty room smell. I'll never stay there again.

Our room was clean, but we saw the mattress and it was stained and nasty. We refused to sit on any of the chairs. Water damage all over the ceilings. Needs to be updated. Premises were under kept and gave an iffy feeling to us and others. The pools weren’t kept up. Very disappointed with this stay.

Staff was friendly and helpful but the hotel and grounds were outdated and in disrepair. Walpaper peeling everywhere, cracks in the windows. Carpet warped and bubbled. Stayed in one of the "suites". No cold water in the kitchen, more peeling walpaper and water spots on the ceiling and walls. Bed was comfortable. Outdoor pool was dirty and slimey. Lifeguards not paying attention, most were on their phones. Indoor pool was ok. Pictures on website were definitely misleading.

My room was so dirty. I let it go, cause whatever. Then I asked for a different room, which I paid extra for, and I got into the “new rooom” with a clogged toilet with poop in it, a full bag of trash in the closet, and BLOOD STAIN on the pillow case…… gets better….. I took the pillow case off, and the blood stain was ON THE PILLOW!!! MEAANINGGGGGG they didn’t clean the damn bed between guests!!! Do not recommend here. Their way of “making things better” was, try another room, get a maid to re clean, or leave. 🙄.

When you pull up at the property it looks ABANDONED nothing has been fixed or maintained in at least 10 plus years! False advertising for sure. I will be sure to tell family friends and anyone going to Wisconsin Dells to stay away from The Polynesian Hotel from Hell!

Where to start!!! The pictures online look nothing like it really is!!!! Room was clean as well as the lobby. That's it! No pretty waterfalls some pools were filled in with dirt! Some closed! Can't access the deck because they are rotting. None of the phones work in any rooms! Woke up to parties at 3:30 am. Front desk didn't answer when I called with my cell. Garbage in hallways. Hallways smelled like Marijuana and people cooking food in rooms. Most life guards were on cell phones except the ones that pace. Staff didn't care when I complained!!! Public health officials need to check this place out! Trust me don't go here!

I have described in great detail with photos to Expedia of the common area conditions and the fact that the stuff gave me a room with a bathroom that had not been cleaned. The common areas beside the main lobby is filthy. Floors haven’t been mobbed, mold is present, they have been under construction for years and it’s just band aid repairs. You can see rooms filled with old mattresses and trash, it’s just horrific. They should close off a portion of those rooms. No manager was on site on a Saturday afternoon as well.

The room was very clean. They get points for that. The bed was very soft. The big problem was we had no TV for our downtime. We did have very small TV in the room... maybe 32 " at best. ...not nearly big enough for the two beds to see to begin with.They only had Roku so if you don't stream from home you can't watch anything...the problem for us though was that their Internet was too weak for streaming at all. I'm not sure why they call it the Polynesian as their was literally no theme at all except a pillar outside and a giant pile of rocks in the lobby. The grass by the room entrances needed to be mowed and we were charged $20 for a resort fee when we didn't even use the pool. We dealt with it ,but will never go back. It's 2025...update your wifi.

The rooms were mostly okay. The gounds, facility, and pool areas were in poor shape. People were smoking weed all over the place. Strange smells all throughout the property. The staff barely spoke english. Outdoor pools were filled in with dirt and overgrown with weeds. Im sure this place was okay 30 years ago.

Check-in was quick, easy, and accommodating. Rooms were clean and layout with kitchenette was very nice. Overall, the resort needs updating, but for the price, it was hard to beat!

First, the front desk sent me to the wrong entrance and wrong stairway. After dragging my bags up the steps I learned that the stairway did not go up to the floor I was staying at. Then when I got to the room I found the security bar was not screwed into door frame all of the way. Both screws were sticking out about 1/2", making it useless in holding fast against an intruder. As a woman traveling alone, this was almost enough to make me leave. But it was snowing, the roads were icing and I was exhausted. I went to use the phone to call the front desk, but there was no cord attached to it. I used my cell to call and was told the phones are disconnected. Ok, really?!?! Had the bedding not been spotless I would have left and demanded a refund on my non-refundable reservation.

They have you sign a waiver and check off multiple things when you check in. Basically you get charged if you do anything, including open the patio door ($100charge) which typically in December would be no problem but the heating/cooling system did not work probably and it was 100 degrees in our room. We even switched it to AC but it was still extremely hot the whole 3 days we stayed. Rooms are spacious & have updated beds and flooring but otherwise is very run down. Even found about 6 or 7 different bugs crawling the walls during our stay. The TV is really small. Shower was hot and had pretty good pressure but didnt drain very well. Hopefully you read the reviews ahead of time to know that the pool is closed. Only took us 10 minutes to get to Great Wolf and Kalahari!!

First of all they advertise as a hotel with a balcony but than you can’t use it. Second, when I went to take the blankets off the bed to check there was so much dirt and hair underneath it was horrible. I had to go to Walmart to buy sheets and blankets. Third, our tv remote did not work and they never answered any time I called for any reason at all. Fourth, the ac in our room at least did not work. It was so hot and muggy and we couldn’t open the patio door to get any air. The room smelled bad and the ac they had spit white stuff out of it. The parking lot is filled with dirt and potholes. This hotel was worse than an actual motel. I will never stay here again. I’m glad we enjoyed our time out there but we only went back to the room to sleep literally we were out until 11pm at night. Pictures shown online are misleading there is not pools outside all is in ruins. Persons at frint desk did not like any requests for extra towels or shampoo. Halls are dirty. Smells marihuana all over the place they do not do a good job enforcing the non- smoke signs. Very unsafe for families with kids. Extra charge for the pool of $20 is not fair either. We won't recomend this place.

I paid for two QUEEN SIZE BEDS because there were no KING SIZE beds available but was put in a room that had two FULL SIZE beds. The toilet was running water all night and there was a puddle of water on the floor in the morning. I signed a contract that said quiet after 10 pm but the people above me were up running around all night. I took a trip here TWENTY YEARS AGO the property looked the same as if it was kept up… it was very dirty, old and outdated. The pools were very dirty, filthy and full of debris. I couldn’t get in. On the up side the customer service was great I encountered a conversation with the manager FREDDY and receptionist DIANA they were great and tried to make sure I was happy. They were great!

Limited staffing for checking in there was only one staff member. However the staff was very courteous, professional and patient. The rooms were clean and tidy. The only thing "out of place" was the typical Wisconsin lady bugs and such looking for warmth.

My family and I stayed at the Polynesian Hotel in Wisconsin Dells, and it was one problem after another. The most alarming incident was a fire alarm that went off in the middle of the night for nearly 15 minutes. Shockingly, the hotel did not notify the fire department. I had to personally call 911 after noticing there was no emergency response. The responding police confirmed this was the hotel’s responsibility to do. No staff were present, and police struggled to find an employee on duty to address the situation. When I later located the fire panel, it showed a system warning another major safety concern that was not addressed. Other issues included: • Lifeguards who appeared disengaged and were often on their phones • Leftover, rotting food found in our room’s cupboard • Repeated calls to the front desk went unanswered • No front desk staff present overnight, including during the fire alarm • A person was roaming the halls at night shouting loudly, causing concern for our safety and theirs. After failed attempts to contact the front desk. The police were called out. I’m very disappointed and deeply concerned about the lack of safety protocols, cleanliness, and staffing. I cannot recommend this hotel to other families and hope that management and Hotels.com takes this seriously.

I cannot stress enough how well the staff handled the situation -- they really tried to help us make the best of what was happening and are in no way at fault. We paid for an upgrade from a standard room to a kitchenette suite. Our stay was supposed to be Sunday-Tuesday, and after an hour and a half wait to check in, we were told the indoor pool was closed until later that evening, the outdoor pool was closed due to maintenance from a storm, and neither of the pools would be open during the week, but they could give us vouchers to another hotel/waterpark. At that point, we were skeptical and tired and headed to our room -- only to be greeted with not an upgraded kitchenette room, but a standard two queen. That kind of sealed the deal for us, and we immediately started searching for an alternate place to stay. The room was fine, it just wasn't what we paid for, and with three kids we really wanted access to a pool on site.

We stayed at the Polynesian this time last year and were saddened that the outdoor pools were closed. This year we decided to try again since the website said they would be reopening in June and glad we did. This hotel is a great option for the price. The indoor and outdoor pools were open and Freddy at the front desk was amazing and extremely accommodating Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a decent place to stay for a decent price.

We stayed here two nights since it was relatively close to a competition we were attending. The room was clean and it was very quiet. The internet sucked but that wasn’t a big deal to us. Don’t let the exterior fool you. If you’re looking for a peaceful stay consider the Polynesian.

We enjoyed our stay at the Polynesian but when you first get there it looks like it’s abandoned the outside is very out dated and the grass/garden areas have not been cut.

The best part of the motel was that it was away from the tourist zone and close to the freeway. Other than that the rooms are not great. The showers were filthy. Constant screams from grown men in their rooms. When we arrived there were multiple kids playing with carts and kicking soccer balls at cars while the parents were smoking weed. This motel has a lot of potential but it just doesn’t seem safe. There’s truly no quality control going on. The second we got into our room we were looking at options to check out and ended up just staying so we weren’t out the money. The price may be cheap but it’s definitely not worth it. The worst thing about the trip was going back to the motel.

Hotel was clean and spacious the front desk lady was courteous. With having an indoor pool and calling it a resort I thought they would have a washer and dryer available to use even it was a pay to wash and dry. They didn’t offer an onsite cafe or cafeteria with venting machines.

The facility should not be considered a "resort." The outdoor water park consisted of an out door pool and A slide. The water was cold and the bottom of the pool was filty. Mutiple areas outside were roped off and closed. The inside pool was advertised and stated in contract at sign in as open from noon to 8. The only thing open at one point was hot tub with kids in it. The slide not open, lazy river ...not open. Lifeguard stating some mumbled excuse either water not warm enough, or not enough lifeguards... this being Aug, summer, in the waterpark capital of the world. The hallways smelled musty. No food on site. No vending machines. * Warning on patio/balcony door that if opened will be charged $100. Tv with maybe 12 channels. Hotel has super potential if the outdoor water area is fixed up. Indoor water park for the kids area could definitely use an upgrade. Other than that we enjoy staying in this hotel. Kids have a blast in the indoor water park

Very Cheap Motel Waterpark. Polynesian has not been updated in 20 years. No vending machines, no laundry facilities, no 24/7 maintenance, no breakfast, no kitchen, and rude hotel manager. The owner(s) are only out to make money and obviously do not care about the property or hotel guests experience. Gift shopping is very expensive in Wisconsin Dells avoid T-Shirt Factory on Broadway very rude employees, plenty of good restaurants around but they all close very early.
