Close to their private beach. Had a kitchen that we enjoyed. Very quiet. Belfast is a nice area. Scenic but not the tourist trap other towns were. Harbor walk and Young’s Lobster pond were memorable.

The property has amazing views of Belfast Bay and you can walk right down to the beach and enjoy at your leisure. And, every cottage has a deck, allowing you to enjoy the sun and views and just relax. Kitchenettes are nicely appointed for in-cottage dining but you’re also just a short drive into town if you want to enjoy dining out. Lovely spot!

Great view of the water, comfortable, and nice staff. Also appreciated the numerous towels and free coffee in room. Room was clean except for around the ceiling which could have been cleaned better as there were quite a few cobwebs and spiders.

The place had a very strong deodorizing smell as if they were covering up another smell. The place was older but looked like it had been recently renovated and was clean. The bed was too soft for our backs. The bathroom was nice but too small (as was the room) with no vanity. The view of the water was lovely and there was a big veranda out back and there were nice grounds outside. The management were friendly. The road going past at the front was busy. We missed not having a breakfast served at the price charged.

Staff was friendly and helpful, we were greeted with hot cider and fresh cookies on a chilly night. Room was cleanest we've stayed in for quite some time! We took walk by the water and enjoyed our view from the patio.

The woman at the front desk was excellent. Friendly, customer focused. Biggest issue is the the motel part of the property needs to be freshened up. The room needed to be aired out a bit better because the musty smell that you get with properties by the sea. Bed very comfortable. Plenty of towels, soaps, etc.

This is a really cute place with fantastic service. They had those extra little touches in the room, such as towel swans with mints on the beds. We stayed in the motel part, which had a private deck with a view of Penobscot Bay. They provide tons of extra towels and there is a coffee maker with a mini pot rather than single serve. The only thing is that if you sit on the deck, you cannot see the water through the deck railing. Maybe have some kind of raised area for the chairs? That kept us from enjoying our deck. Other than that, we were very pleased.

We really liked the setup of Room 62. Everything was very clean, the bed was nice, and the views from the back deck of the beach was very nice. When we checked in and out we were treated very nicely. We will definitely return. Next time, we would like to be in one of the tiny cottages along the water.

Our cottage was cute and quiet. Beautiful view. Everything for room and kitchen provided. Updated and freshly decorated.Our cottage may have been older as the floor was very unlevel and the bed sloped one direction and the bathroom another. It was not really an issue and we had a wonderful time.

The view was incredible from Colonial Gables.The cabin was clean. The King sized mattress in cabin 47 was bowed on both sides with a huge hump in the middle. Felt like it was 10 yrs old. Told front desk person who said it probably needed to be flipped. But it really needed to be thrown out! Also, the shower stall so small you can hardly bend over to get shampoo on floor. We won't be back.

Cottage was clean. Location was great water view was nice. The only negative was very limited on mugs glasses and silverware. I don’t know if people take them but they were only two spoons one knife and 1 mug 1 wine glass and a couple of glasses. So bring everything you think you might need including coffee other than that everything was nice. The bed was comfy. Pillows were good and the cottage was clean.

The king rooms are very close to busy main road so a lot of traffic noise. Cannot sit on back deck after dark due to mosquitos ; wonder if there could be something to prevent so many. The room was clean and well stocked although the mattress was not very comfortable appears due to age. Quick drive to harbor with many restaurants and shops. Altogether a good central location.

From the the fresh cookies and cider, and the welcoming lobby cat, to the super clean, quiet, and cozy cabin with a nice view of the ocean, our stay could not have been better. The lovely lady at the front desk gave us a great dinner recommendation for a casual meal, and was ready to answer any and all questions. I'm just sad that we weren't there more than one night. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a simple stay with a view of the ocean.

Colonial Gables is wonderful, the room was exceptionally clean and comfortable with a nice deck and a lovely view of the ocean. It’s a large property with several cottages as well and plenty of space for outdoor activities. The lobby is very welcoming and the staff pleasant and helpful. I will definitely recommend to family & friends and we’re already looking at a return visit. Thank you Colonial Gables for a great stay.

We can’t wait to stay again! Cookies and hot cider when we arrived. Colonial Gables is a hidden gem. We stayed in the cutest little cabin right on the bay with a million dollar view. The cabin was clean and bright. The whole property is very well maintained. The staff is super pleasant and helpful. The only complaint is we only booked one night.

The views, the staff, and the overall experience was wonderful! We had to leave early due to an emergency at home and they were wonderful, accommodating and overall just great people! We will for sure be back! Very highly recommend!!

We were in Room 61 of the motel. Parked right at door. As seniors, we found this very convenient to get all the luggage into the room in just a few steps. Room was not huge but plenty roomy. Check in was quick and John was very friendly and offered excellent suggestions for dinner in Belfast. Perfect place for an overnight stay between Portland PWM and Bar Harbor. Arrived at 7 pm after 2 hour drive from airport. Excellent stay all around. We highly recommend.

This property is a seaside gem. It is a combination of hotel and cottages, all very well maintained and only steps from the beach. Our only regret was that we didn't book a longer stay .. we'll definitely be back!

Enjoyed our stay. Very comfortable and convenient spot along the Maine Coast with easy access to Belfast for dining, shopping, and other needs. Also a great stop or base camp for exploring Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.

We loved the gardens around the property which were well tended and beautiful with so much in bloom. Access to the shoreline for strolls on the rocky beach was nice. The location was very convenient right on U.S Route 1 and about halfway up the Maine coastline, making day trips in both directions possible (for example, a day trip to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor was easy). The town of Belfast also had good options for shopping, food and sightseeing.

The room was clean but dated like most of the hotels in a coastal town... The staff was very nice. My husband liked the coastal old fashioned decor, not so much for my taste, but the price was good for our budget. They did have a beautiful flower garden that was great for photos. It was east to find right off the main highway. We had breakfast at Bell the Cat, which the hotel recommended and it was excellent. Young's lobster pound is down the street and the lobster is excellent there. It also had a beach that was rocky but some families were in the water. We would probably stay there again in one of the little cottages.

Such a great place! The location by the water is beautiful, and cottage/cabin #31 was comfortable and well-equipped for a family getaway. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The town of Belfast is just a few minutes away, offering plenty of charming shops and restaurants. We will definitely be back.

This is a lovely gem on the coast with a quiet water view. Staying here and spending the day at Acadia National Park is totally doable. We appreciated the hot cider and cookies in the evenings. The room was clean. There is some highway noise but the A/C fan covered most of it. The pillows on the king bed were way too overstuffed for my liking but that is a personal preference. Overall, great place and highly recommend.

Loved the cute cottage very clean , all we needed for our stay in kitchenette. staff friendly and helpful. We were not familiar with the area so that was a little disappointing, very few dining choices. It was a bit far from Bar Harbor but we managed. The beach area was ok typical Maine beach. Would stay again. Suggestion? Perhaps offer a dog walking option? For a fee? So people can explore area without their pet. Great place !
