The property was under construction during our stay. Our room was right beside where the work was being done, so at 6am on a Saturday morning we were awakened by the beating of contractors working next to our room. On Friday night and all night Saturday we had to listen to the fire alarm continously go off through out the entire hotel. This was highly inconvenient and not worth the money spent for 2 nights!

This hotel was a mashup of unexpected greats and unanticipated less-goods. The happy surprises: an amazing single lighted basketball court for a bball crazy middle school son! An incredible authentic-Italian pizza/gelato place just a few minutes walk from the property. Breakfast taco items (delicious shreddable pork and pickled jalapenos!) at the breakfast buffet. The less happy: The rooms were a little dated and because of this FELT less clean than usual for this brand, but I believe a renovation is coming. They were out of bars of soap but when I asked they gave me an additional shower gel for the bathroom sink. The bedspreads were a bit scratchy, and there was no bedding provided for the sleeper sofa, but we were too lazy to ask for it. The coffee wasn't great, and (I am a cream person!) there was just artificial half and half with no flavorings. The workout room worked, but was pretty small and the water dispenser was in disrepair.

The hotel staff at check in was so nice and friendly. They were super quick to bring us sheets for the pullout. The only bad thing was after 11pm the fire alarm went off. Another customer, leaving the lobby, said it was a false alarm. We headed back to our room. The alarm went off a couple more times, but the lights on the alarm were blinking until after 3 AM. Not exactly a good night's sleep.

Very nice hotel, clean, smelled good, had a basketball court- which is even better than a pool for my kids. Loved that it was tucked in a quiet location. Bed was very comfy and room was spacious. Staff was kind. Enjoyed the breakfast. Our showers didn’t get very hot but for everything else being so nice, I'd still give it 5 stars.

Service was great, and everyone working here was very nice. I’ve stayed here once before a couple of years ago, but since then I think there are some issues. The AC didn’t work very well in all three of our rooms. It would turn on, but it was barely cooling, and because of that, all the rooms were humid and kind of hot until late into the night. We all had trouble sleeping, and since we were on a tight schedule, I really needed my crew to get rest. Another big issue is the elevator — it was straight up scary. It kept breaking, including once while we were inside of it. I honestly thought it was going to fall; it was making a very loud noise and clearly needs major repair. Ignoring this could get someone hurt. The door was also opening and closing strangely, and one time it almost closed on one of our arms. At this point I can’t say we’ll be back. It was close to $3,000.00 for these rooms and they were NOT worth that.

The room was very spacious. I had a two bedroom suite. 2 bathrooms. However, it was not very clean. There were lots of crumbs in the dining room chairs, several dirty dishes in the cabinet, stains on the curtains. In the bathroom, it was so dirty i just skipped a shower.

The accommodations were affordable for our family of 6. Unfortunately the elevator had a very strong odor of marajuana, the refrigerator handles were dirty with food, and the bottle of lotion in on of the bathrooms had some mystery gunk on the lid. Aside from these three things, everything was fine.

The lobby is beautiful and smelled really good. The front desk staff, very nice. Our room was clean and neat. The beds are a 4/5 for comfort. The bathroom is 4/5 for cleanliness and condition because of some mold, splatters on the edge of the mirror and older sink and drain. All in all, a good night's rest. A very great spread at the breakfast lounge!

Property needs a major renovation and a deep clean. Staff was very accommodating and assisted best they could. Majority of appliances, fixtures, lights, toilets, TVs are in disrepair. The carpet and tile floor needs either replacement or a deep clean..stains and holes throughout. Fans and curtains have not been cleaned also having multiple stains and caked on dirt. Had our room moved to another which was a little better but still not Hilton quality I’ve seen in the past. Overall disappointed in Expedia’s and AAA’s ratings of the property and that a Hilton hotel is in this bad of shape. Will not return.

The hotel clearly needs updates. I was also expecting it to be a lot cleaner. It was dirty. The sheets looked like they had not been changed. The carpet had holes everywhere. And most concerning was the large pee stains and blood stains on the pullout couch. I had small children with me and we were unable to use the couch and were forced to sardine ourselves into the beds to fit. It was absolutely disgusting and I would not put my kids to sleep on the bed. The staff could be more friendly. They were all kinda meh.

The carpets in the room and hallways were stained. My toilet seat was broken. The bathroom light was pushed in and flickered a lot. The bathtub was soft in the middle. My ceiling fan was so loud and loose. My comforter had blood on it. The bathroom toilet ran and the bathtub leaked. There was left over clothes. Barely any towels and wash clothes. No hairdryer. The sofa bed mattress was stained. The Ac didn’t work great. The refrigerator didn’t cool very well. The elevator broke. The whole place needs a renovation. The staff didn’t know English or what was going on. I’m never staying there again.

Lots of carpet and furniture wear and stains. The hallways are noisy. Doors slamming really hard all night. They are in the middle of exterior remodel so there was equipment and workers around. I cut my trip short and only stayed one night. Not a place I will go back to stay.

Excellent experience! Plenty of space in the two bedroom suite for our family of six to be comfortable. The breakfast options were excellent & there was plenty to satisfy the adults, teens, and the preschooler in our group. We would 100% stay here again.

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the past few years but this hotel is now in much need of a major refurbishment. Although the room was clean, the carpets are worn and the room mattresses were in dire need of replacement. The shower water was barely warm and had low pressure. I also noticed the quality of the breakfast food had gone down. The hotel is in a good location so I hope they will fix these issues.

Service was great, and everyone working here was very nice. I’ve stayed here once before a couple of years ago, but since then I think there are some issues. there was such a high-level of Customer Service at this hotel. I did not expect the quality of the rooms nor the amenities for the price. It is very nice to be pleasantly surprised when you go into a space to lay your head down for a few days, rebooked two suites. So it was also nice that they made sure that we were right next to one another without asking. One of the individuals in our party experience a medical emergency. The staff was so responsive and empathetic, and the emergency responders were very fast. I loved it and will definitely go back.

Homewood Suites Birmingham-South/Inverness was amazing! The staff was so friendly and accomodating! A special shout out to Roneka who really went out of her way for me! I think this is the first review I've ever left since this is the best customer service I've ever received from a hotel/motel. I usually try to stay at Residence Inn, but I will definitely change to Homewood Suites after this experience!

We stayed here for a week while moving my daughter into college. It was fine. The room was a bit worn, but not terrible. The breakfasts were great every morning. My only real complaint is the housekeeping. We were there for a whole week and they only serviced the room once. The front desk asked them to service the room after our toilet overflowed and they just didn’t. I asked on another day for them to just change our trash, and they did not.

We came to Birmingham in October to see Greta Van Fleet, it was a short trip but I still wanted a hotel to provide comfort and really feel like a home away from home while we were there.. I’m so glad we picked Homewood because the environment was literally so calm and comforting and the property was so quiet. It was right in the middle of town and we had access to everything.

Bright light outside window and no blocking curtains- just sheer curtains. I woke every hour thinking was daylight already and that I was late. Breakfast was late but the crew hustled to feed everyone because the breakfast cook didn’t show up. Flooring in rooms kitchen area needs replaced. Couch was also very uncomfortable.

Our church staff stayed here while attending a conference. The entire staff was very complimentary of the room accommodations, breakfast options (although several missed having yogurt), and cleanliness. The suites were a big hit and we all wished we had had more time to use the kitchen facilities. Great area for gathering for group huddles before our conference.
