Irving House at Harvard is a budget‑minded B&B in a historic house, praised for its walkable Harvard Square location, friendly staff, and excellent breakfast, while rooms are simple and small, and the building’s age brings creaky floors and thin walls.

I'm a big fan of this quirky place. I've been going to Irving House for over two decades. Has a nice community feel even though I didn't interact with the other guests and will unlikely see them again. The staff is always terrific. Love the ethos of this place.

had a terrible experience with this hotel. Before my stay, I was told by the front desk that my reservation could be canceled and refunded and no issues. Based on that, I went ahead and made other arrangements. When I followed up, everything changed. The manager refused to honor what their own staff had told me and was not only unhelpful, but outright rude and dismissive. No accountability, no attempt to make things right—just a flat-out refusal and a bad attitude. It’s one thing to have policies, but it’s another to mislead guests and then hide behind those policies when it’s convenient. Communication within this hotel is clearly broken, and customer service is nonexistent at the management level. I would strongly caution anyone booking here and get everything in writing, because what you’re told upfront may not mean anything later

Rooms are small but cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was really good, and they started it an hour early on Boston Marathon day. Staff was friendly, helpful, and kind. I hope to run Boston again, and I'll plan to stay at the Irving.

Greet and serve customers more effectively. This staff member is blocking the way and eating breakfast, which shows a lack of respect for the paying guests who arrive first.
