Our room was relatively clean. The bathroom toilet gurgled all night. There was no hot water at the sink. Lighting was odd. The lights and lamps didn't seem to light tje room, just small areas that didn't need light. The construction going on on the roof made parking very inconvenient at best. The bed frame was terrible. The way it stuck out all the way around caused me to beat my shins up constantly. On the other hand, the staff was great! Terrance was especially helpful. He was polite, pleasant, and professional. I spoke with the manager and she was very receptive to my concerns regarding the water situation as well as my compliments to the staff.

Friendly staff, onsite parking at no charge, clean rooms, and a little cafe where you can grab a quick bite. No bells or whistles but exactly what we were looking for…just a place to rest our bodies after a long day out. Very reasonable pricing.

The staff was amazing, the hotel was clean, bed was super comfortable. Many of the people who stay at this hotel have loved ones having procedures at Duke Medical Center, and it is a quiet, friendly place to rest after a stressful day. And the free, on site parking is a special treat. Thank you to all that make it special.

The Lodge was having one of the two elevators worked on. 8am they started to jack hammer right by our room. As we were using other elevator concrete peices fell into our elevator striking my wife in the head. Staff said they were sorry. It just started today.

Photos on hotels.com ARE NOTHING LIKE REALITY. Room reeked of mold, water stains all over the property - obviously why there were no exterior photos on the site. TV, AC and lighting in room were poor. Coffee machine didn’t work. Paper thin walls, can hear TV in rooms next door and every conversation in the hallway. Bed very comfy, pillows good.

Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Disliked that there wasn't breakfast or a fitness center. The floor in my room was not very clean but the rest of the room looked clean. Bathroom sink was slow and would back up. Heat/AC unit fan was running constantly and rattled loudly even when AC was not on. Pressing the power button on the unit would not turn it off. Very difficult to sleep with the loud rattle and the helicopters.

The reason for my average rating was the over powering smell of musty/mold in the room. I did notice an outside water leak going down the window and dripping on the side of the building. The staff was polite and helpful. I need to give an A rating to Harry the shuttle driver. He was a highlight to my day.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The shuttle service was a huge bonus to bring us to the hospital and picked us back up and saved a lot of unnecessary extra stress. I am pretty critical of hotels as I was manager in housekeeping and run a cleaning business and I have to say this was the cleanest hotel I have stayed at to date. The only downside is not having the continental breakfast included or available but there were some muffins and things to buy. Love the staff there, they really made a stressful trip alot less stressful for my son and I.

I have never stayed in a cleaner hotel. Everyday we were there we saw someone cleaning. Outside curb appeal, Lobby, Elevator, Hallways were pleasing to the eye and our room was spotless! Much appreciated! We were greeted with kindness and warmth by all staff. Check in and check out was a breeze.

Stayed due to early morning surgery at Duke. Room value is acceptable. Convenient to hospital. Main complaint is the beds are extremely hard and the bedding is not quality. Lots of pillows is good. Had to layer pillows to ease the uncomfortable hardness of the bed. Bought our own throw blankets to help pad the bed. Mattress rated one star.

Staff was very helpful. Good walking distance from Duke University football, basketball. Room was clean and comfortable. Only complaint is poor lighting in the rooms. There were only two lamps in our rooms and no overhead lights in the entry or the room. Bedside lighting didn’t work in either room. Bathrooms were well lit.

The property overall was great. The bathrooms are very small and definitely only one person at a time. The beds are FIRM!!! I mean FIRM FIRM! So if you need something with more give to sleep, I’d probably look elsewhere. I was only there for one night so it wasn’t a deal breaker but there’s no way I could’ve stayed there for any longer with as hard as the beds are. Overall 7/10 for me because of the small bathroom and hard bed.

The desk lamp did not work. The blinds did not go up nor down. They were frozen in place. I reported this problem when I checked in, but it was never fixed. I bought 2 hard-boiled eggs in the cafe. As soon as I stuck a fork in the egg it crumbled and water squirted out. Thankfully, the cashier gave me a refund for the eggs. On a brighter note, the bed was very comfortable.

The hotel is in a convenient location. My wife and I were able to walk to Duke's campus and avoid the traffic during Homecoming. The room was VERY clean and comfortable. My wife had no problem logging onto the internet. Unfortunately, only one elevator was in operation during our stay. However, the other elevator was being upgraded, which means it should be back in operation soon. The staff was very helpful and courteous. We would consider staying in this hotel again the next time we're in Durham.

Check in was smooth and fast. Hotel and room was very clean. Mattress was really firm (not my preference but would be okay for those who like a firm one). What wasn’t so great? We were in room 614 (right across the stairwell at the end of the hall). That stairwell door opened and slammed off and on all night long and early the next morning. We decided to just get up and leave. Unfortunately, we would not stay again unless we had a room away from the stairwell doors. We could deal with the train, helicopters, even others talking outside the door but the door slamming was just too much.

Really, the thing that made this trip decent for me as I was sick and received not great news at Duke so we stayed the night on Friday night (3/7/2025) to Saturday (3/8) and the staff that evening was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ❤️ I have stayed in a lot of hotels and hospitals the past two years and I have been treated not so great at many of them, but here, you hired amazing staff and I don’t ever write reviews ever. I just wanted to acknowledge that they made by weekend better by being kind and empathetic and treating me and my mother like humans. Amazing place and from now on when I go to Duke this will be my go to place to stay for sure!!! Thank you for making my day a little brighter ❤️

The staff at the Lodge were unbelievable perfect. They all understood we were not on vacation or a business trip. As this hotel is only a block from Duke University Hospital, they knew a lot of folks were experiencing personal struggles. The staff made the hotel experience as struggle free as possible, greeting guests with smiles. They managed our reservations with ease as our plans continued to change. The front desk staff, cleaning/maintenance, and the barista were all amazing!

The location next to The Duke Medical center was great . The free on site parking with extended use period allowed me to leave my car at the Lodge for the duration of my visit to the Hospital. It was a very rainy day and the free shuttle to the hospital was quick and efficient in a clean vehicle and very nice driver. The breakfast cooked to order was great.

We were so excited that we were able to check in early at 2pm. Check in was smooth. We went to enter room and key did not work. Also sounded like that room was already occupied. We went back to the front desk. Come to find out, someone did in fact check into that room the night before. First words out of the concierge’s mouth was, “We can’t give you a discount and we are fully booked. The best thing we can do is put you in a similar room that is handicap accessible”. This was a reasonable solution that we accepted however the notion that we were going to request a discount was extremely offensive and unnecessary. This set the tone for our whole weekend. The property overall was okay. Our automatic blinds did not work so we had to sleep with the parking lot light shining in on us. The food area was closed on the weekends. Overall we wouldn’t stay here again. Not the worst place but certainly not our most pleasant experience.
