Consierge on Sunday after 16.00 excellent, pleasant, friendly and helpful. Reception easy pre check in. Restaurants varied menu good quality and presentation friendly staff.

Warm welcome from member of staff who helped us with our luggage from the taxi drop-off to reception and then to our room. We took up the offer of a (paid) upgrade to a room enjoying Club Millesime facilities (drinks, snacks etc gratis). All excellent, as was our room, with a good breakfast the following morning. Clearly the Club attracted a clientele that was going to substitute the complementary drinks a snack dishes for a meal in one of Sofitel’s two in- house restaurants. The Club was run by the charmingly unflappable Margo who managed look after at least thirty guests at any given time with charm and efficiency. We chose to have dinner at the Asian restaurant which was excellent, attentively served and fairly good value. Recommend the Sofitel for those wishing to get their holiday to a great start the evening before…..

Excellent hotel in every respect. Our room was immaculate. The food in the Verve restaurant was superb too - and not expensive for the quality either. Will definitely stay here again when we fly from Gatwick.

Our stay was exceptional, and the location was highly convenient. We opted to reside in a suite on the second floor, which was consistently satisfactory. Additionally, we dined at the Asian restaurant, which offered an exquisite dining experience. I highly recommend the set menu.

Everything was spot on. I only had one observation to make for the gym - I was unable to locate a washroom next to the gym. Every time I needed to use one during my workout, I would have to travel all the way to my room.

Just stayed one night with family pre flight. Excellent service throughout. Had a good quality breakfast and pizza at the bar the evening before. I used the machine to pay for my parking. Mistake. Pay at the reception as it’s £11 cheaper and they validate it before you exit.

It’s convenient for the airport and the Thai restaurant is good. Otherwise an uninspiring corporate hotel. Also the lifts need sorting out.

The hotel was easy to find after getting off the coach, well signposted. It was a pain waiting for a lift to get to the foyer to sign in, then back to the lift to go to the room, as it was very busy and there were only two lifts for people with a lot of luggage. Reception staff were polite and efficient. Restaurants way over priced, so I walked to the airport and had some dinner instead. Very conveniently located to get to the airport the next day.

You can’t drive to the hotel without paying!!! We were very disappointed to get a £60 fine for dropping the bags. No one told us that the car drop off bay to drop the bags was inside the NCP pay area! So we got a £60 fine… After speaking to the hotel they said it wasn’t there problem and wouldn’t speak to NCP..

We had been at this hotel several times. The staff is great but we were so disappointed about the cleanness this time, in particular the bathroom had handprints on the walls and the door. Doesn’t make you feel like you are in a clean area.

Absolutely outstanding service and accommodation. The room is so comfortable and we genuinely had the best sleep. The room was spotless.

We have stayed here many years and the beds are the comfiest. The restaurants are expensive but the service is generally good. The rooms have been refurbished well but under the rim of the sink in room 583 there is a build up of black lime scale which should be cleaned. However we will return.

First. Directions to hotel poor. Could have been my fault, it was 11pm, long day. (But when you get off the north terminal train turn left and keep going. Very few signs). Check in excellent. Bar service so poor it was actually terrifying. 6 blokes, noone serving. American woman gave up and went into the service area to get attention. £12:for a single whisky, poured visibly short by about 1/5th. You owe me about £2.40. Very worst: horrible unemptied bin in the bathroom!!!!! Someone's nasty stuff and i am pretty sure there was a condom in there. When I mentioned it at checkout I got the millenial 'woopsy' response. AYFKM?

Quiet, convenient option at Gatwick. Always clean and the housekeeping service is excellent.

The room was only half-cleaned. A dirty towel was left on the bathroom's floor. The garbage bin was full. They had plenty of time to clean the room as I checked in well after midnight. I stayed at cheaper hotels and never had these problems. Terrible experience overall.

It’s always a real treat staying at the Sofitel. Rooms are spotlessly clean, the mattresses, duvet and pillows are luxurious, check in and check out are effortless. Love it!!

Easy check in with welcoming staff. Interior and exterior spotlessly clean. Good size room with all the extras you need including chilled water in a fridge and plenty of towels and toiletries. Food was delicious and served promptly in the restaurant The ideal relaxing stay to begin the holiday feeling one day early

Uncomfortable bed. Thick mattress pad was too small for the bed. Old pillows. Cleanliness was not what I expected (bathroom was not clean). Disappointing. Fantastic staff.

It was very comfortable though not spacious. Unfortunately, there was a bad smell coming from the bathroom water

The location was convenient aa we stayed one night and flew out next day. The room itself was fine but the beds were very unsupportive and uncomfortable. For the price of the hotel and brand of hotel I was anticipating a higher level of bed and comfort. I probably would not stay here again.

The bed and bed linen are excellent. Great view over runway.

Lighting bad

I was given a room that overlooked the hotel lobby with no view of any exterior and it felt very suffocating. I complaint persistently to both the hotel and Hotels.com with no positive outcome

Room was too loud didn’t get any sleep, we did get moved rooms but didn’t make a difference. Terrible!!!

Ideally situated, very close the north terminal. But our stay was made a good deal less than ideal by the dreadfully soft mattresses on the beds resulting in a night of broken and poor sleep. Could have stayed in the adjacent Premier Inn which prides itself on giving an excellent night’s sleep.

We booked 3 rooms and requested they be near each other, two connecting. I received confirmation from Sofitel that our requests could be met. This was OVER 2 MONTHS before the stay. At check-in, we were given 3 rooms on COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FLOORS. When I asked about our requests, the receptionist said "Sorry, there are no more connecting rooms, guests who checked-in earlier got them" EXCUSE ME? We booked a hotel at the airport because we had an evening flight & it wasnt after-hours. REMINDER: I RECEIVED CONFIRMATION OF CONNECTING ROOMS 2 MONTHS IN ADVANCE. I showed the confirmation email and the receptionist said the message didn't come from the hotel. There was no record of our request. Well then someone is parading as Sofitel on Expedia and replying to guests because its clearly signed "Sofitel London Gatwick"! At this point we were all tired (baby, 2 kids, grandparents, and my husband & I). Three separate floors was absolutely not an option. "The best they could do" was two rooms on one floor (opposite sides of the hotel) and one room on a separate floor. As my son and I tiptoed in our pajamas across the hotel to our second room (our family packed a single suitcase) a woman checked-in to the room ACROSS THE HALL. I find the entire situation COMPLETELY absurd. A hotel of this size should be able to manage communications and accommodate their loyal guests (we have stayed 3x in 12 months and were offered room upgrades the day before. There were plenty of empty rooms)

I was told room service would take 30-40 minutes which was fine. When it didn’t arrive after an hour I called down to be told it would be at least another 15 minutes so I cancelled it.

Super convenient location (2 min walk from north terminal). Clean spacious rooms. Courteous and helpful staff. Very comfy beds.

Fire alarm in middle of the night nobody had an idea what was going on totally disturbed night’s sleep no compensation offered will never stay again

My flight was cancelled so booked this last minute for me and my family. They checked me into a room that was occupied, but luckily the other guest had the chain on the door. The hotel didn't seem too bothered then put me into another room with only 1 bed for 3 guests. After going back to reception, they did bring another one within 10 minutes

When I checked in the staff were not sure how to take care of one of the benefits of the booking. The restaurant smelled like a hospital canteen and had many open tables yet I was told there would be a long wait since I didn’t have a reservation at the airport hotel. The towels in my room had makeup from the prior guest. In the morning, I asked the checkout desk if there was coffee available since the rooms only had Nescafé and again, the staff was stumped. I rarely comment on hotels and travel enough that I take a reasonable level of hiccups as par for the course, but when the management sent me an email to make excuses, I realised it was culture, not a bad run of coincidences

Room was fantastic and staff couldn’t do enough for us! They made this an incredibly memorable stay and I couldn’t thank them enough. Will definitely use again!

Stay ruined by awful service in the restaurant, 40 minutes to be served a drink, 60 minutes for a starter and 90 to see your main, wasn't even busy and felt like our main had been forgotten until we questioned it's whereabouts, Unsurprisingly bill appeared much quicker! On pointing out I wasn't paying a service charge got a slightly arsey manager who didn't see to care or understand. We've stayed before but doubt would again.

It was way too difficult to locate this hotel at the airport. I was going back and forth. Crazy. If they would have had one or two GOOD signs it would have been easy. Wasted an hour. Was not happy with this. They had signs, vague and very unclear.

Great location a quick walk to the North Terminal, perfect for our early morning flight. Shuttle between North/South terminals was great so we could have a wander and buy snacks/drinks to have in our room. Check in and check out were quick and easy too. Would recommend to take the stress out of arriving at the airport in time.

It is less than a minute walk down a short tunnel to enter north terminal from this hotel. Not having to rush to get to the airport on time and not having to worry about shuttles/ride shares makes it fully worth the price. The room is very nice and the hotel itself is lovely, but its the hassle-free way to the airport that makes it brilliant!

Convenient hotel for departures from north terminal. Comfortable bed was the highlight. Shower screen needs to be longer to stop shower spraying into bathroom. Bar food was mediocre - went for fish and chips and the chips were cold, fish was very thin. Slow service - more staff needed to keep up with customers. Didn’t receive VIP benefits (waiting staff did not use my coupon despite telling them I had one but I didn’t have the energy to correct them after I’d paid).

Breakfast was a good choice. However one stack of hot plates were cold. The other stack at the end of hot buffet selection were hot but there wasn't a notice on the cold stack saying "out of order." Such a shame as most people ended up with cold plates.

We like to start our holiday at the Sofitel, great location, lovely room and a few minutes walk to north terminal. We always book the Vanda restaurant, beautiful food and a delightful atmosphere.

The beds in the Sofitel are amazing! So comforatable. The food and drinks are very expensive though.
