Good gym

Lovely local hotel. A gift for friends but sadly the pool had gone. Only a gym left.

Room was tired Bed very lumpy. Bathroom dated cheap plastic bath with shower in it. Sink old and cracked. Bath towel more like hand towel. Gym equipment old broken and very dirty. Hadn’t been cleaned in months.

Yes there was a bar and free parking staff were nice, but it is getting a little tired.

The hotel doesn't look to bad from the outside and reception area was clean and staff were friendly. However we arrived and were told that the kitchen was having some maintenance so the restaurant was shut which was disappointing. We then went to our family room which was right at the end of a long corridor, which smelt of damp and air freshners. The room set up great, which I why I chose this hotel. There was a double bed for myself and my wife and a single bed for my 12 year old. But the room felt dirty and the adjoining door (which we weren't using) looked like someone had tried break out through it, with a screwdriver. The bathroom was very tired as well, with broken tiles etc. We slept ok, despite the couple next door arguing till the early hours and then making up!!! Breakfast was poor as well, it seemed to be a microwaved full english. A really disappointing stay.

The clean towels were left outside in the hallway on the floor in front of the door.The rooms need an update.Bathroom room had damages. NO aircon and phone in the rooms.

Easy to find good parking

The hotel is dated, there was a wedding party and so it was very busy, the gym was out of use and the breakfast was not very good, it was greasy and the service was poor. The beds are comfortable but the pillows are really not. I wouldn’t return

No lift to second floor as partner is disabled and rooms not cleaned every day

The only good thing about the hotel is the reception team. They went out of their way to make sure you were happy. I dont really like leaving a negative review unless there really is a good reason and the owners of this hotel need to hear the reasons. The hotel is worn. The rooms arent of an acceptable standard even for the money paid. The carpets smell of damp and are torn. Furniture is stained and damaged. Matresses are beyond their life. Rooms are dirty and mouldy. Locks dont work on doors. Some doors dont close. Some doors dont open. Service is slow in the bar. There just are not enough staff. We were told a simple coffee would take 10 minutes as the girl was the only person on serving breakfast. Drinks were expensive for a poor bar. The fire alarm sounded regularly even in the middle of the night because "someome was having a shower and left the door open". Vans were parked in the disabled spaces. The car park was mostly flooded. Another person was in front of me complaining their room was dirty and the toilet in an unspeakable state. The owners appear to not care. We had to change rooms. Its not somewhere i would stay again. Its not somewhere i wished i had stayed. Forgive me father for I have stayed... Though credit to reception staff for dealing with an impossible situation. This hotel would be really be well suited to warmer climates like Torquay. A comedy.

Felt a bit catfished from the photos! The staff here are lovely but this hotel is well in need of a refresh, everything feels quite tired and dated, the carpet and chair in my room were stained, and the sealant around the taps on the bath was a bit mouldy. Bed was comfy though!

The room was old looking and tatty rip in the carpets we run the bath for our daughter and it was full of black mold had a shower and black mould came off the shower head told them at reception and they said they would send some to clean it when we we out but the next morning when we ran the bath it was just the same . We reported it again and was just told to but the complaint in an email

I was in a ground floor room and assume they had some recent flooding - corridor to the rooms smelled musty, a lot of mould around the tiles in the bathroom - towels and bed linen felt damp. On the plus side though, evening meal was good as was the breakfast.

Room allocated had mould stains and growth across the whole ceiling of the bedroom and black mould growth on the ceiling of the bathroom. Obvious damp problems as water run marks could be seen on the walls and in the corners. Very damp, mouldy smell like an old shed. Hotel was fully booked so couldn't move rooms. I decided to check out because of the state of the room. Lady on the desk was very apologetic and took note of the issues to pass on to management. This room should not have been used for guests as it is a health hazard. I can only hope the other rooms in the hotel were better.

Part of the Wyndham chain, this hotel is situated just off a roundabout on some main roads with a good sized car park nice and close to the entrance which was fortunate due to the monsoon weather. I was greeted warmly on check-in . The room was smart and clean although the window was quite an old wooden frame. The hotel had a decently equipped gym which I made full use of. The shower was so good that I had to turn down the pressure which is a first for a hotel shower. I slept well in a very comfy king sized bed. Breakfast was on a buffet basis with plenty of options available and was delicious. Outside of tired décor in the corridors and some mold on the bathroom sealant, everything ensured I have a fantastic overnight stay and I would look to stay here again given the chance.

Room and toilet were not clean. Notwithstanding the fact that it is an old property, it is very obvious that proper upkeeping is not maintained. Towel rack in the toilet was covered with rust across all the bars, and our towels were hung onto them! In all honesty, hanging the towels onto such a rack hides the reality that is it filled with rust. Bedsheets beddings had weird stains and patches on them. It was an uncomfortable stay. Location is fine.

Very musty smelling hall on walk to room. No Wifi in room and staff had no idea how to help us access recently updated modems. Woke up in the middle of the night twice by towel heater making loud sounds. Pillows were flat and lumpy. Parking lot was great. Check in and check out were fast and easy.

Room was large. Heating was on full blast when we entered and there is no air-con to cool it back down. Room had been recently redone with the exception of the bathroom which is very dated. Parking very good.

Booked this hotel not knowing it is a wedding venue. Lots of noise until 1.30 in the morning. Also can hear people being sick in room next door !!! Lots of shouting and banging of doors. Perhaps they should have let us know that they had a wedding taking place when we booked and we would have booked elsewhere.

We stayed at the hotel as we were attending a concert in Cardiff. The photos are very deceptive, the public areas were lovely but the bedroom felt tired, there was damage to the bathroom door & bedroom wall & kettle not working. Very comfortable bed though so a good nights sleep. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was okay, not a huge fan of buffet breakfasts where food is left in warming dishes, choice was okay but not great. Not somewhere I would stay again but that’s purely on my preference.

The hotel is very tired and the rooms are in desperate need of in upgrade. My main issue was no WiFi in the room, which is unforgivable on work trip. Staff were no help and wouldn't change the room so that was that. I won't stay here again. Shame really.

Food in the Bar wasn’t great and the room was by far the noisiest room I have ever stayed in. I think it must be next to the laundry and the extractor in the bathroom is faulty and wouldn’t shut off. 4.30 am and awake not a restful nights sleep I’ll be glad to get home tomorrow.

The hotel is a bit tired overall. Shower gel bottle was empty in my room and there was no plug in the sink which made shaving a bit tricky, and the heating didn't work so my room was rather cold. The bed was very comfy though.

I was in room 201, only window was velux, light coloured blind so beware as soon as it’s light, it will wake you up. No glasses in the room for water or after cleaning your teeth. Felt the room was a tad tired, it was clean though. Food in the restaurant was excellent and good value, no sauce available for breakfast, very strange nothing in the whole hotel. It was a convenient stay.

The staff were amazing! Everyone was very friendly and they kept us away from the wedding party that was taking place which was ideal! we booked two rooms one of which had no electricity and the staff did resolve this as it was simply a blown fuse. The beds were less than idea and we found them to be lacking in support and comfort due to aged mattresses I assume. The food was great but there were a number of items that they were unable to serve as they had sold out, I assume due to the prior mentioned wedding party. This hotel was booked very last minute at a affordable rate. It served it's purpose and in a pinch i would choose this over many other hotels in the area.

We stayed at this hotel from 18–20 July. Unfortunately, our experience fell well short of what you would expect from a four-star property. Our shower had no hot water. On the first day we had to be given access to a different room just to wash. By the second day the problem still hadn’t been fixed, no one had updated us, and the staff on duty weren’t aware of the ongoing issue. We had to explain everything again and ended up trying two more rooms before we could finally shower. To be clear, the staff we dealt with during our stay – including housekeeping – were lovely, apologetic and genuinely tried to help. The real disappointment came afterwards: despite emailing the hotel (as instructed by reception staff) three times, the only reply I ever received was a brief message saying the manager will deal with it next week. That never happened, and all further contact was ignored. Even when Hotels.com chased the matter up on my behalf, the hotel flatly refused to offer so much as an apology, let alone a refund or gesture of goodwill. The lack of hot water was inconvenient enough, but the complete refusal to engage with my complaint afterwards was what really left a bad impression. A four-star hotel should be able to manage basic facilities and, at the very least, communicate with its guests when something goes wrong. Sadly, this hotel failed on both counts.

Initially the hotel seemed ok, but in the morning I turned on the shower to which it immediately rotated on the pivot and sprayed all over the ceiling. Wasn’t the cleanest, but all could be overcome. Sadly their customer service and communication is terrible! After a long night work I arrived at the hotel at 7am and paid £10 for an extra hour - 12pm checkout….however 11am I was awoken and told it’s time to checkout. Explained I had paid and after a dispute was left to rest, but after being awoken I showered packed and left… I complained at the desk which I was told it’s now past 11 so u have got late checkout so you will be charged the £10.,. The service I paid for was not delivered so very frustrated and needed to add this review of complaint in hope this leads to more simple training at the hotel or anyone wishing late checkout don’t pay as you will not receive what you pay for!

Reception staff and bar staff were very efficient with the restaurant staff a bit hit or miss. .

Bad from start to finish. We booked a twin room but when we arrived it was a double. I went to reception and was told not her problem rooms are auto allocated! She was very rude and offered me bedding to sleep on the floor! She kept saying not her fault or problem. Very unhelpful. We went to breakfast and there was nothing much in the way of hot food so I went to ask for sausages, bacon and mushrooms the lady rolled her eyes and said she’d go and ask chef to cook some just for us. All in all an uncomfortable and disappointing stay. Definitely gone downhill since it has changed hands.

Nice place to stay - excellent service on the evening. The waiter was incredibly friendly and interacted really well with my child. The waitress in the morning looked like she was chewing a wasp. Mattress was completely dipped on one side.. and decor could do with a little spruce in the room. otherwise a lovely venue, great bar and lounge area and good food (although my pie was all mash on top and very little meat).

Late arrival due to closure on M4 but night staff was very friendly and ushered us in without any fuss.

Booked the hotel for a wedding 5 months in advance, had email and app confirmation but when we arrived we was told there was no reservation made and the hotel was fully booked. Very disappointing to say the least.

Lovely hotel location and modern look inside with lots of facilities. Popular wedding venue but the staff made sure I was looked after regardless making room in their restaurant and had adequate bar service.

Attended a family wedding staff were very helpful food was lovely rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent plenty of options to choose from.

Great property. Very helpful staff and nice restaurant. Highly recommend. Easy to drive to most locations mid Wales and Cardiff.

Ideal for a visit to the Heritage park next door,I was there whilst they had a wedding and a Prom night. Both had very little impact on my stay. I ate there all 6 nights I was there and enjoyed the meals which were very reaonably priced. I was particularly impressed by James, who made sure everything was the way i liked it. The rest of the staff were very nice and helpul throughout the hotel.

Hotel offers good quality accommodation at a reasonable price. It was a great location for us visiting family in Pontypridd. Only slight negative was the black mould behind the bath taps.

I had mixed experience of my stay. Good things are Location, brilliant surroundings and plenty of parking space. Breakfast choices limited for vegetarians. Quality was poor. The lady on the counter felt overwhelmed and quite rude when we asked for a warm milk for little one. Her reply was “I am bit busy atm”. I found they were under staffed while hotel was fully blocked.

Unique location net door to Rhondda Heritage Park. With the park itself and Barry Sidings Park just down the road plenty of nice woodland walks. Hotel itself is very well designed with very nice public areas in natural materials. Our twin room was spacious with a desk and chair plus arm chair. The beds were supremely comfortable; firm but not hard. Although our room faced the road it was not noisy and we both slept well. We will stay here again.

I didn't like the idea of being placed on the ground floor with an wide open window as a female travelling on my own. I was placed in a disabled access room which had a low pressure shower and the floor seems dirty. It's probably a thing for those type of rooms but I hate the idea of not being able to put the seat down after flushing. The hotel does offer food which I have had on several occasions (and it's decent) as well as a beautiful public pathway nearby to explore the valley in more detail.

I stayed here for two nights (Saturday and Sunday) while visiting Bike Park Wales, and I was really impressed with the value for money. Booking just a week in advance, I only paid £55 for a two-person room with breakfast included—an absolute bargain! The room was clean and comfortable, though I did struggle a bit with temperature control. The window didn’t close fully, and while the radiator had adjustable heat, it wasn’t entirely clear when it was actually on or off throughout the day. That said, it wasn’t a dealbreaker. Breakfast was great—not anything particularly special, but definitely more than just the bare minimum for a continental breakfast, which was a nice touch. The shower was powerful and clean, though the mounts were a bit loose and wobbly. The location is a little out of the way, so if you don’t have a car, it might not be the most convenient. However, for the price, cleanliness, and overall experience, I’d absolutely stay here again. Perfect for a budget-friendly stay near Bike Park Wales!

The room was basic but we only stayed for one night so it gave us a quick place to sleep and shower before heading home. bed was comfortable and room was clean, bathroom ceiling had some mould on the ceiling and was slightly dirty. hotel was quiet and in a nice location. would recommend if you’re staying in cardiff for the night but probably not for any longer.

Booked this as a last minute night away. Lovely staff at reception quick check in. Nice easy place to park and safe. Room was lovely and clean. Booked with trivago had breakfast included. Lovely buffet breakfast everything you could want food was excellent and iam fussy with cooked breakfast. So will definitely go here again

Bathrooms need maintenance. Shower curtains needs replacing with screens. Food not very good and breakfast was chaos with poor organisation.

Stayed last year everything was great hence went back this year. Had to change rooms as tv didnt work ( England was playing in Euros). Booked into dinner 7.15pm as told Sunday carvery till 8pm. At dinner then told carvery ended at 4pm! Yet a group of tourists were allowed carvery at 7.30pm, felt discriminated! Then were given wrong starter and dessert not what ordered. Hotel staff did take off one starter off bill then gave bottle wine as apology. But overall totally dissatified. There was only 3 female staff trying to cover reception, bar and restaurant. We didnt order a main meal as others on another table were complaining about their food. We stayed there for family funeral so was dissapointed with our stay. Did complete the form stating all this but never heard from hotel since.
