DEFINITELY A MUST STAY HOTEL! Larissa!!! From the moment we arrived at the reception, tired & jet-lagged, she welcomed us & made us feel right at home at this beautiful hotel. After we left our bags in our WONDERFUL room (fabulous air conditioning), Larissa showed us where to get a FANTASTIC lunch. She gave us an overview of Vienna which we followed the whole time we were there (almost one week). Every time we saw her in the hotel, she remembered us & helped with any questions. Larissa is outstanding in every way & made our stay here the best from the moment we arrived. The entire staff in the kitchen (breakfast) & reception/bar was friendly and helpful. The daily breakfast at the Josefhofs was outstanding; incredible variety & new items each day so that we still ate our favorite things but got to try new things as well. Gorgeous interior courtyard to eat our breakfast, or inside seating area if preferred. Very cool bar/eatery inside the hotel from noon (when breakfast ends) until the wee hours of the morning. Very quiet for agreat nights sleep every night. Great bed & bathroom/shower. Free drinks at the bar downstairs (1 per person) for every day you choose not to have the room cleaned. Great location; 5 minute walk to the metro (easy metro system), less than 5 minute walk to city area, 15-20 minute walk to the cathedral with city streets, shops, cafes, restaurants all along the way (all is so close by including a great grocery store). We WILL stay here next time!

Very nice hotel. Comfortable beds. Staff was pleasant and helpful. One thing a little strange was the ironing room. When I asked for an iron they showed me to a room with an ironing board and iron!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Hotel was in an excellent position for the Christmas Markets. The hotel has two lifts but some rooms still required access via about 10 steps so if this is important you might want to let the hotel know you need a room with step free access. The breakfast was self service buffet and very good with a wide range of options.

The hotel was very user friendly. The staff was AMAZING. I LOVE that they do Breakfast till 12 p.m. That is a BIG PLUS. No restaurant on premise for lunch or dinner, but they do have pizza and sandwiches available with drinks till 12 am, so no big deal.Many great restaurants within walking distance. The only comment is for me the room was a bit small . Having said that everything in the room was in new to perfect condition. Would stay there again when in Vienna.

Excellent location and super friendly staff. The rooms are all unique as it was a former apartment building. Cozy bar and games room for pre or post dinner drinks. Room temperature was perfect, but for those particular about AC know it is centrally controlled. Great restaurants nd cafes close by.

Das Bad ist sehr modern und sehr sauber – nur das Duschen war anfangs etwas kompliziert, bis man herausgefunden hat, wie das System funktioniert. Das Frühstück war einfach großartig – es gibt wirklich alles, und was man dort nicht findet, existiert wahrscheinlich gar nicht. Alles ist sehr stilvoll gestaltet, und in jeder Ecke entdeckt man etwas Schönes – fast wie eine kleine Zeitreise. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Parken ist sehr bequem – in Wien ein echter Schatz!

I had two rooms booked for my family. One of the bedrooms, we found out that it hadn't been cleaned properly as we found blood on the duvet cover and pillow case. Next day with better lighting we also found blood spots on the bathroom. Despite the room being cleaned, the cleaner missed to clean the stains on the bathroom floor. We did not feel that it was properly cleaned and it concerned us. We had mentioned to reception twice but they did not show much concern to our complaint. We were offered a drink voucher as an apology. We also had left a note for the room attendant to leave us extra coffee amenities to which was ignored. Also the cups were not washed every day. The reception staff was young and pleasant and the bar staff from Bangladeshi was very friendly and professional.

The room was incredibly small. The pictures did not fully explain that the door BARELY clears the bed and the room was incredibly tight to manuever. Fridge never felt like it was cold but there was a huge block of ice in it so i guess it was. Room was very hot from the beginning and even after turning all the heat off and asking for a fan it was still hot the whole time. The only window was a patio door that i did not feel safe keeping open while i slept so there was no chance for cool night air to come in. Staff were nice enough. Building is pretty and well kept. I was just incredibly dissapointed with my room and what i paid for it.

Agora, é inadmissivel que um hotel desta qualidade nao tenha propriamente uma porta no banheiro, mas apenas um vidro transparente. Except for the room being quite dark due to its location, this hotel was perfect for Vienna first timers visit. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. We felt safe going out to the numerous choice of places for coffee, lunch dinner. Uber was great for visiting sites a little outside of the city.

The rooms are very nicely decorated. Location is great. I was pretty quiet and the bed was ok. One huge problem with this property. When the temperature falls below 56F at night the ventilation will only blow hot air. So you have to sleep with the windows open. But there is no thermastatic control on the windows. My first night I woke up in the middle of the night a puddle of sweat. My second night I woke up in the middle of the night freezing. I stayed here for a week, by then end of the week, trial and error I got it about right, then it was time to leave. But forget about sleeping in, if you want the air to circulate, you have to leave the blackout curtains open so enjoy getting up with the dawn.

So pleased we picked this hotel for our Vienna 8 night stay. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff at reception. All the staff we encountered, from reception to the people working the breakfast shift, to the house clearing staff were happy and friendly. Our room was spacious and well appointed. The bed was king sized and very comfortable. Our room was very clean and serviced daily. The breakfast was AMAZING. The best we encountered in all our month long European trip - and one of the best we have ever encountered in our world travels (close second to the breakfast at the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong). Location wise, a short walk around the corner finds you at a tram stop to see the around Vienna (the tram system is fantastic in Vienna). But even if you don't want to use the tram, many interesting sites are still walkable. From the hotel, there are many dining options close by and a supermarket very close as well. We took a taxi from airport to the hotel... that was about 65 euro. Then taxi to the train station was about 19 euro. One small point of feedback - if they just placed a couple of extra hooks in the bathroom, and a shelf to place our toiletry bags, it would make one's stay even better!

All the Check-In Reception Front Desk Staffs are so so very polite and very kind. Particularly, ( George ) is very very thoughtful, very helpful, and very very considerate. George goes through all the details and all the amenities that Hotel Josefshof Am Rathaus has to offer. HE shows where is the Restaurant Dining Room for breakfast in the morning. George loaned me a very precious "CHARGER" for my entire stay in Vienna, Austria and my entire duration stay as a Guest in This Prestige Over The Top, Outstanding Service "HOTEL JOSEFSHOF AM RATHAUS". So, now I go back to CANADA with lots and lots of great, amazing pictures of Vienna and wonderful memories of Vienna. I would also like to acknowledge the Beautiful Long Blonde Hair Young Lady Receptionist with her careful, thoughtful help utensil silvers. TRILOGIE did not provide me with any wooden or plastic cutleries. Overall, I am impressed and overwelmed. I was treated like I am a royalty king for the entire duration. On October 17, 2025 early morning at 06:35AM, I have returned the very precious "CHARGER" to the Young Man Dark Hair Reception Personnel along with the Check-Out Hotel Room Keys. Speaking of Young Man Dark Hair Reception, HE helped me call the Taxi for my Mother and me; so, I don't have to walk to the intersection street with my mother to hail a Taxi. In summary, I am very happy. Thank you very very much for all the Staff in the Hotel Josefshof am Rathaus !!!!!!

The location is super good as it’s walking distance to the places that is touristy . The receptionist magdalena and tall guy are helpful and good while the rest needs training for good customer service and a smile is always good . The bald guy in bar every time I ask for drink doesn’t even look at me or recognise me , but he’s super friendly to the rest of the European customers . I’m sucker for good customer service and he failed it big time sadly :-(

I rarely write reviews, but our experience at this hotel was so appalling that I feel compelled to share it. We booked a Deluxe Room at this hotel, the only option available at the time. We were traveling with a small child, which has never been an issue at any other hotel we’ve stayed at (and we travel frequently). However, upon arrival, our nightmare began, we were humiliated by the receptionist and manager, who aggressively claimed we couldn’t stay with a child in the room. We offered to share one bed, pay extra, or add an extra bed, but the manager refused, even saying our child "can stay on the street." After a long and humiliating ordeal, during which our child was in tears, we were allowed to stay for one night but were told we’d be kicked out the next morning with no refund. The manager followed through, forcing us to book another hotel at our expense and insisting the room was non-refundable—even though we didn’t cancel the booking, he did. How would that even apply? Attempts to resolve this were met with threats to call the police. The treatment we received was inhumane and utterly unprofessional. I cannot understand why the manager behaved this way or why he felt the need to ruin our holiday. The hotel’s behaviour was unprofessional, inhumane, and unacceptable. Avoid this place at all costs.

Enjoyed a wonderful stay. Loved being right in the center of Vienna and being able to walk everywhere. The only drawback was that the air conditioning /cooling system didn't seem to work well and my original room was very hot and made for a sleepless night. However, Elisa and Fabian were awesome and arranged for me to switch to another room the next day. Customer service was top-notch throughout my stay. This will be my go-to hotel in Vienna from now on.

Mein Standard Hotel in Wien. Gut gelegen, super und sehr aufmerksames Personal. Tolles Frühstück, gute Zimmer (diesmal leider mit Blick in einen kleinen Innenhof - dunkel). Aktuell eine große Baustelle direkt vor der Tür.

The hotel is close to things to do and see. Please be aware, though that there is construction in the front of the hotel which causes a lot of noise early in the morning until around 5 PM the hotel provided earplugs but they weren’t helpful. Hopefully the construction will be done soon as this is a nice property.

This hotel is perfect for exploring the historic part of the city, and close to a trolley stop. Our room was roomy and very quiet. Very nice lobby and bar for hanging around. My only complaint would be that 25 euros for a buffet breakfast is a bit much. Otherwise, I think the hotel is a good value considering the prime location.

Beautiful room in stylish hotel. Well located in quite spot within walking distance of city centre and museums. Didn’t bother catching public transport during our stay, other than to and from airport, which was easier than we had anticipated. Staff very friendly and breakfast was great, well worth the money. Would recommend.

Attractive well appointed hotel. Friendly staff. Everything suited our needs. Modern bathrooms. The only meal available was breakfast but that was available until 12.00. Close to city centre and major tourist attractions. I highly recommend it.

Lovely hotel with very welcoming staff, especially Anna on reception who was particularly attentive . Standard Room was small but comfy bed and modern bathroom. We did not have breakfast so can not comment on the food but the bar was very small with only one member of staff which sometimes made the service slow with long queues.

Lousy bathroom, lousy shower everywhere a bit scruffy. Breakfast overpriced chaotic mess. Rude lousy barman. In fairness they refunded breakfast and drinks, but still had to find alternative breakfasts. Whole place needs a makeover. Internet was good.

This was a great hotel to explore the Christmas markets from, about 5 mins walk from the main Rathaus market and 2 mins walk from a tram stop. Hotel was in a quiet side street so no traffic noise. Breakfast was good and available until noon. The bar area was quite small but we managed to sit when we wanted to. Would have preferred to have a restaurant in the evening but non was available on the hotel.
