Comfort Inn La Porte

Nice place to stay. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and coffee available anytime. Pool was not heated and water very cold. Toilet paper holder was broken. Staff removed our used towels and did not replace with clean ones, but desk person gave them to us once we requested. Overall we would stay again.

Elevator was sketchy, making us use the stairs for most of duration. Vending machines weren't stocked, mainly water was sold out and being able to get bottled water is a necessity. Door to side of building wasn't locked at 10:30PM - shouldn't that be locked a little earlier?

After a previous visit that was good , we were met with a 3rd floor room and a broken elevator! Customers were charged triple the usual rate because of high demand in a busy holiday weekend, yet they were not willing to pay for an emergency elevator repair that would cost them much more due to the same holiday weekend that afforded them triple room fees. They also broke down their self serve breakfast before their 10:00 am cutoff.

Pool was actually smaller than in photos. Would be nice.to have a pool water temp control, it could get cold for a small child. Breakfast was limited but appreciated. Staff was nice.

Side door entrance were left unlocked at all times. No key card was needed to get in the building. Anyone could have walked in.

Clean and comfortable. We were there for research (7 night stay). Our suite overlooked a small lake. Busy road between hotel/lake; however, the location and view made up for it. Staff was awesome (attentive, friendly, and accommodating); family-friendly. Pool temp was set great. Breakfast was nicely done, but some variety in eggs would be good. Parking was adequate and safe. Price was excellent. We'd definitely stay here again.

We have stayed in quite a few Comfort Inns and Suites over the last few years. This one was by far the best one. It also has one of the most beautiful pools I have ever seen in a hotel.

Convenient location. Great breakfast options. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Will definitely book again for my future stays in LaPorte.

Very clean and well maintained a beautiful property

Stayed here for two nights. Check in was smooth and clerk gave me a couple waters which was nice. When I went up to the room it smelled terrible. I went back downstairs and told the clerk and mgr and the mgr comes out with air freshener. I said no that won't do so they put me in another room. I kept getting questioned about what it smelled like as if maybe I wasn't being honest. I went to the next room (hotel was full so glad I could even switch) and much better except for a stain on the comforter. I took it off the bed and used the one from the closet. The beds were very comfortable. Unable to hear sound from bedrooms next to me but sure heard the upstairs guests and people out in the hall. Nice view across the street of a lake and there is a DQ walking distance from there. The breakfast had standard fare. Some of the pastries were expired which I let them know and the next day they were all fresh. When I checked out I mentioned the comforter and the mgr kept saying I should have told them. Not after the response the first time and not when I've been traveling all day. No compensation was offered which I don't like. They were nice and I wouldn't not stay again but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Our room smelled very badly of marijuana

I was a bit disappointed in this hotel. The toilet in our room had urine from the previous occupants, hair in the bathtub, and a really musty smell. The breakfast was ok. There was one gentleman who seemed to be trying to do everyone's job, so maybe they are shorthanded. I will look for a different option next time.

Very comfortable beds and pillows. Fridge was cold and air conditioning worked great. They offered free water and chips to us upon check in. The shower was a wonderful experience. Clean tub and bathroom! Definitely stay here again if in the area.

Front desk were very nice. Room was very small but it was a last minute weekend trip. The place we wanted to stay at ended up having a cancellation so we ended up staying there, even though I had a no refundable room for 2 nights. Oh well you live and learn.

Very quiet stay, a view over the lake couldn’t be beat!

Check-in was quick and efficient. The room was clean and fresh-smelling. However, there were some shortcomings. There was a gap in between the door and trim large enough where someone could see in if they wanted. The rooms soundproofing could be improved as well. I was woken up many times in the early morning from staff vacuuming, other guests closing their doors, and people ascending/descending the stairwell that ran near our room.

Check-in was the worst I have ever experienced! We ended up getting there earlier than checkin time. I apologized for being early and asked if we could check in. The lady at the desk curtly said no we’re not checking anyone in early today with any further explanation. I told her we weren’t going to be able to check in before midnight otherwise because we were heading to the next town (in another time zone an hour ahead) for a concert for the night. She said that’s fine with no apology or courtesy at all. I asked her where the lobby restroom was because we’d just driven 5 1/2 hrs to get there, and she rudely said down the hall both ways but someone might be in there and you’ll just have to wait. After the concert, on our way to the hotel (around 1115 pm), someone I can only assume was her replacement called us to see if we were still planning to check in. I told him yes, we’re on our way now. His response was ok, we’ll hold those rooms for you then. Wait what?!? Did you really plan to give my prepaid rooms away because I wasn’t there and I tried to explain to the lady earlier we couldn’t check in at the regular time? Unreal!!! Other than checking in, the stay was fine. The hotel is a bit rundown and older looking. The beds and pillows were great! Shower was hot but lower water pressure. Breakfast was good.

I rented the room for my elderly sister through Expedia. I called to put her name on the reservation. The front desk attendant said that was fine and took my sister's details.The following day called again to verify she wouldn'tcheck in at 4 pm, and the owner answered saying my sister could not use the reservation I made for her because she was not the original puurchaser. I explained I often get my sister hotel rooms in the same manner and have never had this problem, even at this hotel. After some back and forth to see how to resolve the situation, we decided I would cancel Expidia, and she would call to make her own reservation at the hotel. When she called he kept bringing up the Expedia reservation and told her he would not let her reserve a room either, that if she showed up at the hotel he would call the police. There was no reason for this. It was just a crazy situation. My elderly sister ended up driving home 3 hours at 1 am. She was afraid to try another hotel because of the confusion and threats by the Comfort Inn owner. We did not use the room obviously.

Staff seemed "put out" or "over it" at check in and check out. Housekeeping staff was very friendly. Hotel is generally is fair condition. Beds are very hard. If you are a light sleeper make sure you're not near the hall exits to the parking lot, the doors do not have a soft close and from abou5:30 am on you will be jolted awake at random. There was staining in the bottom of our tub and something sharp in the carpet near the tub area that was either a staple below the carpet or something actually glued into the carpet, not what you want to step out of the bath onto even with socks. Breakfast was meh but thankful there were lots of prepackaged options for sanitary reasons.

Check in was easy. The staff from the front desk to cleaning staff were very efficient. We needed special assistance because of handicap needs and they were very helpful. The breakfast was very good too because of the variety of food.

The owner of the hotel accusedy daughter of puking in a corner of the room and tried to charge another $50 on top of the automatic $50 charge for incidentals. Property is small every thing else was good, except a phone call while driving home and accusing my family vomiting in a corner and no pictures or proof . Disgusting way to bilk more monies out of your bank account.

Had an issue with checkin. They had a storm the night before. The computer system was down. Had a wait till they got that resolved. Other than that. all was ok.

My husband and I were visiting friends about 20 minutes away from the Comfort Inn in Laporte IL. We had a wonderful experience. Parking is free and just outside the entrance. Check in was fast. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was immaculate! The bed and bedding were so comfortable. The room was also very spacious. The photos on the website didn’t do it justice. It looked to be recently remodeled when we arrived. Breakfast was good too! The location is great. It’s about a 2 minute walk to Pine Lake. There is also a trail you can walk right outside, I believe called the Chessie Trail. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend!

It becomes a difficult place to get to when traveling the turnpike. No easy way to get on or off from it. Nice views of the lake once you are there!

Great location near the airport but not so close that you hear planes all night. Clean with great amenities and staff.

Great location! Lobby area was great. Rooms were fairly spacious and clean. Pool was small, but looked nice. Breakfast was a little more challenging. The hot breakfast was biscuits and gravy, not sure how popular that actually is, we didn’t care for it. There were several employees just hanging around the front desk while one girl tried to keep the replenish the food and keep the area clean. At one point the trash was overflowing, milk, biscuits, and cranberry juice all needed to be refilled, and many tables needed to be cleaned off for others waiting for a seat. Nothing that big of a deal to us, but it seemed like there were plenty of others that could have helped.

I was very impressed with this property and the staff. They were very friendly and accommodating, and went above and beyond the breakfast was delicious and fully stocked.

Ran out of some breakfast items in the morning but there was 30 people trying to leave at once so that can be expected when people in a rush.
