Probably the only hotel that I've stayed at that literally excels in all areas - everything from the classy modern room design, to the excellent sound proofing, to the small touches like having free coffee and water all day...every aspect of our stay was fantastic! And the breakfast...it was the BEST free breakfast I have ever had, full of incredible quality and massive variety of items, and I mean in my life! To top it all off, they have free EV charging for guests and parking was included, which just adds to the value of this place. Lastly, they have amazing staff - they were attentive without being overbearing, and were super helpful. The only thing I wish they had was more rooms - they were sold out and I could only stay here 1 night instead of 2. 5/5 would recommend and will be back!

Booked a Carmel Bay Suite that looked like a junior suite. Parking was tight. No early check-ins allowed or complimentary drink. No elevator. Lighting up the stairs should be brighter for safety reasons as we returned back to our room at night. Their breakfast buffet however was great but not until 8 AM. They do have pizzas, salads & charcuterie for extra cost from 4-9 PM. Mattress was very soft. Lumpy pillows. Housekeeper did light keeping & didn’t replace hand towels. Attempted to notify them we were leaving in the morning & door was locked at 0530. Kitchen staff said no one was there. So I texted the staff to let them know. At first he said he was there & door was unlocked. Aw no! That’s a lie. We can confirm with the kitchen staff. He finally admitted. Wow.

New hotel that is pet friendly. They even allow 2 pets per room depending on weight of each dog. Comfortable bed and great shower. Very clean and great location to beach a Main Street with shops and restaurant. Decent amount of parking in the lot. We went on a weekday so it was probably less busy than weekends or high of summer. Welcoming front desk staff and overall a great stay. Definitely on my shortlist for hotels in Carmel.

Such a fantastic location and a beautiful hotel, the rooms were really lovely as were the bathrooms. Loved the out door seating areas and the outdoor restaurant with pizza oven! Such a little gem so close to everything in Carmel

I was disappointed with my stay. After a long day of traveling, I experienced a disorganized check-in process that added unnecessary stress. When I finally got to my room, it smelled like the previous guests, making me question if the linens were changed. I didn’t feel comfortable addressing it with the front desk (she was awful) again, so I slept on towels. The next morning, instead of apologizing or offering a solution, the staff (new front desk person) defended housekeeping. This experience left me feeling frustrated and never wanting to return. The only positives is parking is plentiful the sweet boys that greet you as you arrive. Do better, Stillwell.

Very chic and new hotel in the heart of Carmel. Everything is super walkable from the hotel. The hotel has been recently renovated. The courtyard area is super nice with fire pits, lots of seating and a huge water feature. Our room had high end finishes and was well appointed. The only negative is that the room is a bit small (we had a deluxe king). The staff is very friendly and attentive. Breakfast is included and very tasty (and unique)

Property was very clean and modern but it was missing that Carmel charm. Our room was on the second floor (no elevator) and the room was VERY small. When you opened the door, you literally walked right onto your bed. Bathroom was a little more spacious but overall small. Breakfast was surprisingly great. Overall, good hotel but wouldn’t stay again for what we paid for.

The room was clean but it was too close to the office and parking lot so I could hear some noises and it bothers me a bit. However , the staffs were very kind and their services were great. In addition the included breakfast was so delicious and its presentation was excellent!

Perfect location and the staff were all supe rfriendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent as was the pizza! Only complaint was that the room(#31) was super tight. I would book a second floor room next time... and there will be a next time!

Stilwell is in a great location close to Ocean Avenue, galleries, shops, the beach and good restaurants. The hotel opened in May 2023 and is beautiful and smartly designed. We stayed in a balcony room, and having the extra outdoor space was nice. The room is well-appointed, the bed very comfortable, and the bathroom is beautiful. Great lighting. Loved all the sitting areas on the patios. Soothing water feature and great complimentary breakfast. Delicious. Very helpful staff. Will definitely stay here again.

The staff went above and beyond. Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful We enjoyed the breakfast buffet very much. It is not your typical pastry, coffee and cold cereal. Something for everyone and if you have any dietary restrictions let them know and they will accommodate your needs. I don’t eat gluten myself and they went out of their way to bake some gf berry muffins for me!

This hotel was brand new with beautiful rooms and finishes - very modern but cozy. With the exception of one staff member who was very irritated and rude when we (politely) asked if early check in was available. Otherwise, when we finally arrived, all the remainder of the staff were incredibly welcoming and super friendly. The free breakfast is incredible! Seated in a quaint but beautiful breakfast room, you can choose to eat inside or outdoors by the fire they have going near cozy seating. The breakfast dishes are served like small tapas plates. They are beautifully plated, and portion sizes allow you to choose a variety of items and feel satisfied and ready for an active day without overeating. I couldn’t believe that level of service and quality of breakfast was free! This is an incredible hotel in the very charming Carmel by the sea downtown - with walking distance to a variety of boutiques, incredible upscale restaurants, tasting rooms, art galleries and just a few blocks from the ocean. Would absolutely recommend staying here for anyone who values a nice, fresh modern place to stay with great service and thoughtful touches throughout the entire guest experience.
This hotel was brand new with beautiful rooms and finishes - very modern but cozy. With the exception of one staff member who was very irritated and rude when we (politely) asked if early check in was available. Otherwise, when we finally arrived, all the remainder of the staff were incredibly welcoming and super friendly. The free breakfast is incredible! Seated in a quaint but beautiful breakfast room, you can choose to eat inside or outdoors by the fire they have going near cozy seating. The breakfast dishes are served like small tapas plates. They are beautifully plated, and portion sizes allow you to choose a variety of items and feel satisfied and ready for an active day without overeating. I couldn’t believe that level of service and quality of breakfast was free! My wife and I have had a rough couple of weeks and were looking for a chance to get some physical distance from everything. While shopping around for places to stay in Carmel, I stumbled onto the Stilwell Hotel website. It was exactly what we needed. The staff work tirelessly to make sure your stay is relaxing and stress free. The attention to detail they exhibited for even just keeping the grounds clean and welcoming was top notch. My wife and I enjoyed our stay immensely and look forward to staying there again in the near future.

Really nice new property in the heart of Carmel village. Steps to Ocean Avenue and surrounding shops and restaurants. Property is upscale, with many outdoor fireplaces, comfortable outdoor sofas, fountains, and lots of greenery. Staff is exceptionally friendly, rooms are small but comfortable, and the free breakfast is well above the usual buffet style offerings.

Stilwell is in a great location close to Ocean Avenue, galleries, shops, the beach and good restaurants. The hotel opened in May 2023 and is beautiful and smartly designed. We stayed in a balcony room, and having the extra outdoor space was nice. The room is well-appointed, the bed very comfortable, and the bathroom is beautiful. Great lighting. Loved all the sitting areas on the patios. Soothing water feature and great complimentary breakfast. Delicious. Very helpful staff. Will definitely stay here again.

Probably the only hotel that I've stayed at that literally excels in all areas - everything from the classy modern room design, to the excellent sound proofing, to the small touches like having free coffee and water all day...every aspect of our stay was fantastic! And the breakfast...it was the BEST free breakfast I have ever had, full of incredible quality and massive variety of items, and I mean in my life! To top it all off, they have free EV charging for guests and parking was included, which just adds to the value of this place. Lastly, they have amazing staff - they were attentive without being overbearing, and were super helpful. The only thing I wish they had was more rooms - they were sold out and I could only stay here 1 night instead of 2. 5/5 would recommend and will be back!

Property is new and clean. It is similar to new Holiday Inn Express. The breakfast is horrible at Stilwell. Hotel has no elevator so all guests should enjoy carrying their bags up the stairs. Not a great experience for the price.

What an amazing property. Perfect location. Beautiful cozy spaces with outdoor gathering. Be sure to brinf home a bottle of wine and eat pizza on the patio. Breakfast is so unique and the staff give great service. 10/10 stay in every aspect.

We don’t always take advantage of on-site food and services, but we went that route for dinner because the offerings looked good: oven baked pizza and local greens. We appreciated being able to stay in and relax. Continental breakfast was offered in likewise excellent taste.

Very chic and new hotel in the heart of Carmel. Everything is super walkable from the hotel. The hotel has been recently renovated. The courtyard area is super nice with fire pits, lots of seating and a huge water feature. Our room had high end finishes and was well appointed. The only negative is that the room is a bit small (we had a deluxe king). The staff is very friendly and attentive. Breakfast is included and very tasty (and unique)

First rate experience! The location is walking distance to a ton of great bars and restaurants. Arrived with complimentary Champaign. The service was amazing. They had a pizza oven and great cheese plates as well as awesome selection of local wines! The rooms have all the bells and whistles. Then to end they had a complimentary breakfast that was exceptional. Will be staying here for every trip to Carmel/Monterey!

It’s a great hotel close to everything! The interior and amenities are modern and new. Staff was nice and accommodating! Very easy parking with 4 free EV charging ports. Complementary breakfast was amazing and healthy. They also have free welcome champagne and ice cream bar on Sunday.
