The pool was lovely and warm,but the room and all the furniture apart of the bed was vey old with handles missing bathroom door couldn't close we had to use a piece of cardboard.But the staff and breakfast food bas lovely.Bed was very comfortable.Overall was good but doesn't deserve 4 stars as advertised.

We were disappointed that the pool was so small. It was bookable by the hour which isn’t stated on website. There is also adult only time which again is not on the website. Last morning wasted because of this. Check out was the same time as pool entry for children. Breakfast very basic for a 4* - particularly if you didn’t want a cooked breakfast. Will not be returning !

Ok for an overnight stay. Family friendly. Check in was friendly. My room had brown water when I put the bath taps on, and was not the cleanest (marks on the mirror and sink). restaurant was closed to a party so I ate in the bar which was comfortable. Dinner was very expensive at £15 for a bowl of noodles with chicken although it did taste good. I asked for a bottle of water to be told they do not sell it only tap water. The room was comfortable with very nice pillows, Netflix and amazon movies available in the room and clean bed and towels. A good clean of the carpets and bathroom would make all the difference. Review of the menu would also be advised. Overall I would say it's ok for the price. Easy to park and convenient location.

The staff were really nice and attentive. The rooms were a good size. Pool was good for the kids. However the room was not set for 4 people we had to keep asking for all the things that were missing I must add they were all supplied promptly. The room needed updating and a bit of maintenence the safe didn't work only thing reported that wasn't fixed, one of the fans didn't work it was too late to get it changed when we realised, there was no alternative lighting to the main lights. Breakfast was OK but it seemed there weren't enough staff to keep things stocked up and tables cleared however all the staff were excellent when asked for anything.

Friendly helpful staff. Comfy bed, but room was very hot, so restless sleep. Restaurant closes at 9 so arriving late means no food. Great value breakfast. Good value really.

Hotel was very dated, with no air conditioning so our top floor room was stiflingly hot all night. We were lucky enough to have a fan but wasn’t much use in a two bedroom room. A coach of tourists arrived as we did and the hotel seemed vastly unprepared and understaffed. Only one member of staff on the bar, lots of drinks out of stock. Swimming pool required booking 45min slots despite not being hugely busy and pool rules seemed over the top.

You get what you pay for I guess but when you report 3 things and only 1 gets resolved it’s pretty weak customer service. Plus the main bar and restaurant were not available and had I known that I’d never have booked.

The rooms were very outdated. Worn out furniture, thick dust behind bedside tables and on skirting boards Curtains falling off rail. Lots of food already run out at 8.15 in morning

Rooms looked 'tired', and could do with a revamp. You had to ask to have new towels on a daily basis (which was not explained on check in). Dirty plates and empty bottles left in the corridor, not cleaned up for more than 24hrs. However, there was one outstanding member of staff called Tru, who despite being a trainee went above and beyond without hesitation.

Friendly staff - nice food - comfortable bed. Shower was dirty with p**** hair and top of soap container. Draw which clearly states “hair dryer” was empty. Generally place rather tired looking and could use a freshen up.

I stayed for 4 nights.I was told that they do not service the roomms during a stay unless specifically requested. I had a Studio room like a suite. There was was plenty of space in the two rooms but everyting was rather tired. I had to wrestle the curtains open and closed, there was no temperature control and the sofa was stained and grubby. The TV control had a mind of its own. I suspect the batteries were failing and the safe was broken. I had a hair raising moment, literally, when I reached into a draw and touched a live 240 volt wire. When I reported this to the front desk I was told that there should have been a hair drier in the draw and people were stealing them by pulling the power lead out and leaving the live wire in the drawer. Bearing in mind that I am seventy years old and it could have been lethal, I was not even asked if I was OK. I did not make use of the Spa, bar and restaurant so I cannot comment.

This is advertised as 4 star and great WiFi no WiFi in room and very week in lobby rooms are dated decor is dated outside looks shabby definitely not the 4 star hotels that I am use at least a low 3 star and only because it has gym and pool no room service no room cleaning have to get everything yourselves from the cleaning trolley left in hallways so if you book and expect 4 star service you will be greatly disappointed.

Excellent location, very friendly staff and was perfect for a night away to see family on Christmas Day. Hotel is looking in need of a refurb but was comfortable, bedding was spotlessly clean and shower hot & powerful…..everything that was needed!

The young lady on reception was very helpful and polite. The room, although clean was a little tired with no ironing equipment (the receptionist did source a board and iron promptly).

When we arrived hotel had 4 stars on entrance (never is this a 4 star hotel) entrance was quite nice and staff were attentive, we upgraded and payed for a studio apartment! On entering the studio, carpets were dirty and warn, furniture is very old/dated and damaged, bed was fine but wallpaper was peeling and doors damaged, finishes in the room were horrible (as pictured) we went to the spa , that was extremely small and dirty! We decided to have some food, which was overpriced and very average at best!! We didn’t stay the night in the end and left shortly after dinner as this was a birthday treat so we were very disappointed!! Can’t comment on breakfast or sleep experiences as we didn’t experience them

The sofa beds need looking at as they are quite uncomfortable. My son had to sleep on the floor . The mattresses on the sofa beds are very lumpy . It would be better with 2 singles beds instead of the sofa bed and more chairs . The king size beds are very comfortable. The sofa beds let’s the overall comfort of sleep down

The evening receptionist was exceptional and so helpful, very polite and informative. The hotel is less than a 20 minute walk from the station so easy to get to. The hot tub and swimmjng pool was great. The fault I found is the rooms being a little cold

I arrived at the Hotel, first impressions I must say with the added bonus of the Horizon Health Club looked inviting, I had just made the reservation as I had just flown in from Canada, proceeded to reception showed them my booking and she said it's not visable on there system , come back in 1 hour , and even another lady said maybe 2 hours, I said look I have a confirmed booking from Hotels.com, they were not interested, came back after 1 hour and then was able to check in , the mannerism of the receptionist was not welcoming , I even had to ask what was the my entitlements while staying , she explained in a angry tone, we don't clean your room daily, if you want toiletries , fresh towels, toilet paper come to reception and we will give, I was not amused I was spending 5 nights @ the Apollo, anyway eventually got to my room , first impressions , disappointment, dated, old fashioned room, ripped Upholstery on the sofa , stains everywhere, carpet felt sticky as you walked on it, bed was so uncomfortable like sleeping on springs, bathroom was shocking , toilet hardly flushed you had to reave it like a motor bike to get it to work , Shower flooded as the drain was blocked , overall looked and felt dirty, not very clean, overall the hotel lacks good Management, the most annoying experience was when i told them it was so cold in my room and the radiator is not working , they replied it's summer there all switched off , I said it's cold in my room at night, no care, ignored me.

Endless issues with this hotel, staff dont know what they are doing. We arrived and 1 of the bedrooms had not been cleaned from previous person, the hair dryer was broken and took 4 requests over 3 days to have one sent to room. The shower leaked, the window was broken, the windowsill coming away from wall, the pillows were like huge rocks and zero cleaning for the entire 4 days. No one provided us with more toilet roll, change of towels or teas and coffees. Terrible stay!!!!!!!!!!

I paid £347 for 3 nights whilst working away wasn’t told that you had to request room cleaning and fresh linen fresh towels and when I did request it I still arrived from work to the room not been done, then I wanted to order a meal over the 3 nights to be told they hadn’t got it other than that your bar staff maddy was brilliant but it’s safe to say it was overpriced and I won’t be returning

The staff in this hotel were really lovely - in the bar, reception, breakfast, they could not be faulted. The rooms were slightly tired and needed a little bit of work but the beds were super comfortable and I had a lovely nights sleep. The breakfast was very nice with plenty of options. I was staying at this hotel for a birthday party and the hotel provided the food. The food was excellent with a great variety for the buffet.

Pillows too high. Food from restaurant was terrible. Ordered fish pie and when I received it, it was nearly frozen in the middle and Luke warm outside it! I complained. They took it away. Brought it back now covered in extra cheese and blisteringly hot out the outside. In fact, it was so hot it charred some of the food so solid you could have used it as a weapon! Needless to say, I left most of it. Also had soup of the day…what a joke! Soup barely warm and served with overdone bread I think and the butter was just a puddle. I had planned to have dessert before all this but thought be safe than sorry. Even the Guinness served was from a can. Breakfast for £11…well it just wasn’t worth it. The fried eggs were swimming oil, the watery baked beans did not look appetising at all. So in a nutshell, I won’t be using this place again. I went to bed feeling very hungry from the restaurant.Thank god for Just Eat!
