Nice hotel and the staff were very friendly. Big negatives regarding the directions to get to the hotel by car around Cardiffs awful one way system - we probably got 2-3 tickets for being in the wrong lane as the sat nav is incorrect and the directions on the website are unclear. The hotel should flag this as a major issue in advance of anyone staying here. Even the staff apologised that this was a big problem - but needs sorting out. Food was ok.. but not spectacular for the price.

Lovely overnight stay at the marriott Cardiff-easy check-in. Shame only 1 out of 3 lifts working when we checked in but by the evening 2 lifts were working. Room spacious and lovely comfy bed and pillows. Easy walk for all of Cardiff city centre bars, restaurants and shopping. Lovely breakfast (self service) in browns restaurant . All the staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend a stay here

This hotem advertised a swimming pool as part of the guest facilities however there is no pool at this location.The main issue at this slightly better than average hotel is that we paid in advance for breakfast for our group, whem we booked on the Expedia website the hotel did not receive the correvt booking information from Expedia .and charged us an additional £140 for the weekend breakfast

Hospitable staff, room was clean always. The only thing I didn't like was the parking fee which I feel was too much. £18.00 per night for hotel residents is quite outrageous. I've stayed in other hotels where parking was part of the booking so I thought the same for this as the itenary included parking. Only for us to get there and be told that parking needs to be paid separately. We had driven for over 3 hours and so did not have a choice. Other than that, we had a good time, tge staff are doing a great job but reconsider the parking fee, it's too much.

The Marriott is showing its age so while the furniture and fittings are showing their age they were originally quality fittings. There’s a restaurant on site and a slew of good places to wine and dine on the doorstep and excellent shopping too. The major tourist attraction is the nearby castle and Bute Park, and the dockside is a 30-odd minute walk away by the river. I like the fridge and safe plus an adequate gym but once again found hotel pillows hard and unfortable.

Hotel room ok bathroom very dated. Bath grubby and dark marks on anti slip surface. Wouldn’t have bathed in it ok for a shower. So loud during the night could hear music and people shouting until 3am. Then bin men etc at 7am. Beds really comfy.

This is the most dated Marriott I’ve ever stayed in — the entire property feels like it’s in serious need of a makeover. The corridors have an odd smell and the carpets are visibly worn. The Wi-Fi was painfully slow, which made it hard to stay connected. On the plus side, the reception staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a convenient location right in the city centre, but this also means it can get quite noisy from the street, especially on weekends. Decent enough room- bathroom dated but ok. Real issue was it was like an oven - aircon didn’t seem to work so had to have fan on all night. When remarked on this at checkout was told that it had been switched off due to burst pipe. Not really good enough as it made for uncomfortable night.

The room was nice enough but it was a little warm, the air conditioning didn’t appear to be working. The bar staff in the evening were not good, 4 young lads laughing and joking and not really paying attention to the customers. One of them was more concerned in getting a phone number off a young girl than serving me. I put an amount of pre-authorisation on my card which I always do just to be told that wasn’t working so had to pay anyway. Then they told me my drink was on the bar, pointed to my cocktail that was placed in front of another customer, I had to ask him if he minded moving so I could get my drink. Then at breakfast was also another member of staff that didn’t represent you well. I hadn’t pre-booked my breakfast as the receptionist told me just to turn up if I wanted it. The person that greeted me was clearly annoyed that I hadn’t booked, shaking his head and complaining under his breath. Overall I think the staff here could do with some customer service training, I’d expect more from a brand like Mariott.

Hotel and location where great. THE NEW BEDS WERE HARD AS A ROCK. If the idea if getting a good night's rest is what you had in mind this would not be a good place to stay. To be fair the wonderful staff did try to accommodate. They put 2 mattress toppers on the bed making it bearable but whoever made the buying decision to purchase these beds should be looking for a new job. Totally ruined what should have been a wonderful stay.

Loved our stay here. Really great location for attending an event at principality stadium. Also great location for shopping and restaurants. Noticed the bar opposite was a bit noisy into the night. Bit confusing getting to the car park but after ringing the hotel and getting pre recorded instructions and postcode we found it no problem. Staff were very helpful and happy. Not sure if there are stairs to lobby as we only found the emergency exit ones but waiting for lift can take a while. Overall lovely stay and will be back if attending another show or staying for shopping!

Right next to the Cardiff Central railway station and at the city centre, which is very convenient and walkable. However, it was loud during the night due to night clubs/bars across the street. Not the best soundproofing, noise went through even I was on the 8th floor. Good quality overall, clean, although my room looked a bit old, the windows were not very clean from the outside. Breakfast provided by Browns was good, a bit overly expensive for the variety offered.

Hotel was very central to shops and bars. Location was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has a nice feel about it and the bar area is lovely. The car parking with the hotel is confusing to get to as you cannot access from the John Lewis side due to a one way bus system, the car park has to be accessed via St Mary Street then on to Mill Lane and we found the signage difficult to see. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

This hotel is typical Marriott, comfortable but not exciting. The location, however, is what makes it superb. Steps away from the railway station and in the midst of the city’s vibrant nightlife scene. Convenient to the castle as well — a must-see stop in Cardiff!

Parking excellent! Was not informed booking was required for evening meal and breakfast! Room service never replied to calling! Eventually we had to eat out! Staff in browns in-house restaurant especially the manager was extremely rude and condescending! Eventually offered buffet breakfast which not a nice experience rubber eggs bacon floating in what looked like water! Not a piece of fruit to be had! Fruit salad consisted of apples and pears even though summer fruits are plentiful now! Have stayed in Marriotts in various places around the world even in cardiff before but this is not the standard I expected!

Great that we managed to check in a little early. Room was clean and tidy, would have liked two chairs rather than having to sit on the bed. Breakfast was ok, lacked fruit other than a fruit cocktail. Bar staff need training on drinks, asked to a tequila sunrise ( a very basic cocktail) go something total different, used orange squash and cranberry. Tasted not bad but not what was requested. Overall enjoyed our stay and will be back next year.
