Nice hotel close to the centre just opposite the castle. Parking is available but can be a bit tight. We could walk to all the areas we wanted to see. Lots of dining options in walking distance.

It was convenient for a 1 night stay but I was unhappy with the fact that parking is advertised but when your info comes through there is only LIMITED parking available! When I requested to book in advance that was not possible! I feel the original information about the hotel should highlight the fact there are only limited spaces

Facilities were spotless. Service from all staff we met was great. Thank you especially to the receptionist who remained very polite and friendly when i was a bit stressy during check in! Welsh cakes at reception was a nice touch. Downstairs common areas are modern. Location very convenient for anywhere in the city centre. Room decor a bit more dated but still very clean. A standard room with double bed, was approx £130 plus parking £20 and breakfast £17pp was extra. Parking was 1st come 1st served, no booking in advance. I have paid less for much more luxurious accommodation in other places, but it was one of the better priced hotels i could find for Cardiff (with the 'has parking' filter). No complaints about our stay, the customer service and location were the main things i would return for.

The Holiday Inn is in an excellent location for the castle and everything Cardiff has to offer. The lobby, bar and breakfast area are modern and welcoming; and the buffet breakfast was very good. My only criticism was that our room, although large with a comfy bed, was a bit tired and shabby; it lacked the modern touches that the reception and restaurant have been furnished with and the bathroom is small and a bit drab. As we were staying on a concert weekend the room rate was higher than usual and therefore the tiredness was more disappointing. For convenience we would possibly book again but I would think twice if comparable city centre hotels were available.

The hotel is fine if a little tired and dated. Location is really what it’s all about here, it’a incredibly convenient for the city centre, the three different stadia and events at the Castle (which is why I was there). I booked it as an alternative to one of the Premier Inns as it has a car park. Unfortunately I was emailed two days before my stay to say all the main roads around that part of the city centre would be shut, so I couldn’t use the car park which was frustrating but not the hotel’s fault. The worst part of the stay by far was getting stuck in the lift for 75 minutes, in the dark. There doesn’t appear to be any back up generator for a bit of light, even, which I assume is down to the lifts being old too. I was stuck with another woman who was attending a wedding at the hotel, I was attending a gig at the cancel and was due to meet friends which I missed out on. Although someone came to ask if we were ok outside the lift a few times, the communication of when we might be freed was poor, and when the fire brigade came to force the doors and help us out, there was no-one from the hotel to even check we were ok. Pretty poor customer service, we were just left to go on our way without even an apology from the hotel. I mentioned it on checking out but even then there wasn’t much acknowledgment of losing more than an hour of our days stuck in the dark in a bloody stuffy lift! Not impressed, won’t be staying there again. Back to the Premier Inn for me!

The hotel is in a very good location close to the city centre no problem at all getting from place to place. A lot of restaurants available. Hotel provide standard breakfast nothing special but dinner was surprisingly good especially the foods they do for children. Lovely room with a view over the castle grounds. Fastest filled bath ever - a fabulous soak was had! Only real downsides are no sockets near the bed and no USB ports so don’t forget to bring an adapter plug or two and a very long cable. Fantastic selection at breakfast. Wonderful stay - thank you.

The decor in the hall was very grey poorly painted and made me feel like i was in a episode of prisoner cell block H. Room was clean but needs a fresh lick of paint. The bed was in wheels and uncomfortable. Perfect place if you're going out on the town as I discovered most people staying here were as early hours in the morning i could hear various guests returning from their night on the town a little loud or where the walls too thin.

We liked the large rooms and bathroom. The air conditioning was quiet. We had delicious dinner at the restaurant downstairs. The castle is 5 minutes walking distance and there are many restaurants and stores nearby. We walked from the train station to the hotel. The staff were very friendly.

The room was clean and tidy but a little tired. There was no overhead lighting just a lamp above the bed and a very small table lamp which was insufficient to use to get ready by. The room was extremely hot and no air conditioning. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was very good.

Check in first Class. Complimentary drinks and cake on arrival. Car parking was for customers only, which I appreciated. Accommodation was fine and views from room excellent, see photo. Breakfast variety and quality excellent. Security also very good with staff ensuring you do were residents.

Visited Cardiff for a 50th birthday party so wanted a bed for the night. Everything was OK until at 7am two loud (possibly drunk) men barged into our room, singing and shouting. When they saw us in bed they said “Oh, we thought this was our room, Reception gave us this number”. They left rapidly and left our door open until I shouted for them to shut it. Left us both shaken and spoilt an otherwise lovely weekend. On departure we reported this to Reception and the Receptionist refunded us our breakfast charge. Rather disappointed.

I have paid less for much more luxurious accommodation in other places, but it was one of the better priced hotels i could find for Cardiff (with the 'has parking' filter). The hotel is fine if a little tired and dated. Location is really what it’s all about here, it’a incredibly convenient for the city centre, the three different stadia and events at the Castle (which is why I was there). I booked it as an alternative to one of the Premier Inns as it has a car park. Unfortunately I was emailed two days before my stay to say all the main roads around that part of the city centre would be shut, so I couldn’t use the car park which was frustrating but not the hotel’s fault. The worst part of the stay by far was getting stuck in the lift for 75 minutes, in the dark. There doesn’t appear to be any back up generator for a bit of light, even, which I assume is down to the lifts being old too. I was stuck with another woman who was attending a wedding at the hotel, I was attending a gig at the cancel and was due to meet friends which I missed out on. Although someone came to ask if we were ok outside the lift a few times, the communication of when we might be freed was poor, and when the fire brigade came to force the doors and help us out, there was no-one from the hotel to even check we were ok. Pretty poor customer service, we were just left to go on our way without even an apology from the hotel. I mentioned it on checking out but even then there wasn’t much acknowledgment of losing more than an hour of our days stuck in the dark in a bloody stuffy lift! Not impressed, won’t be staying there again. Back to the Premier Inn for me!

The hotel was in a great location - opposite lovely Bute park on the bank of the river Taff and in sight of the castle. The staff were very friendly and professional and the room was very spacious, comfortable and clean with really good aircon. Cardiffs great shopping centre and restaurants were just a short walk away. An ideal location to visit this great city.

The Holiday Inn is in an excellent location for the castle and everything Cardiff has to offer. The lobby, bar and breakfast area are modern and welcoming; and the buffet breakfast was very good. My only criticism was that our room, although large with a comfy bed, was a bit tired and shabby; it lacked the modern touches that the reception and restaurant have been furnished with and the bathroom is small and a bit drab. As we were staying on a concert weekend the room rate was higher than usual and therefore the tiredness was more disappointing. For convenience we would possibly book again but I would think twice if comparable city centre hotels were available.

Great location, good breakfast, pleasant staff, car parking a bit expensive. Room was comfortable but in need of a deep clean particularly the bathroom. We did stay on a very busy weekend and opted to eat a late lunch after being told residents got 10% off food and drinks unfortunately this was not the case and it should also be noted there’s a 10% discretionary charge on food and drink (small print) except when queried turned out this is not discretionary it’s a service charge which smarted a bit when we asked for our food after a 40 min wait to be told it had been brought out but they couldn’t find us, we never left the table, but they have no table numbers, food had to be recooked so a further wait. I would also suggest signs to say when you have planned closures of kitchen as we saw a few people disgruntled at being told no orders between 4pm and 530pm due to kitchen cooking pre orders- if there were signs people in the bar area would have been less put out.

We liked the large rooms and bathroom. The air conditioning was quiet. We had delicious dinner at the restaurant downstairs. The castle is 5 minutes walking distance and there are many restaurants and stores nearby. We walked from the train station to the hotel. The staff were very friendly.
