The listing is misleading. I picked the property because it was reasonably priced. After booking a no cancellation reservation. I received an email that said that we had to pay $50 a day for valet parking and $30 a day for the resort fee. I ended up paying an extra $80 per day to stay at this resort. The staff was wonderful! The location was good. I think that the lack of transparency in the listing is unacceptable. The hotel is very old and needs repairs, but mostly I’m upset about the lack of transparency on the true price to stay here.

The resort fee really feels like a rip off, considering the “spa” wasn’t open one of the days. Also, you have to spend the $15 daily, not cumulatively. Night staff was so much more friendly than the morning staff. Very nice workout facilities, with filtered water. Overall it’s a nice hotel, just weird to have a mandatory fee that can’t really be used.

Room service did not come to the room, and I felt the $59 a day parking charge was ridiculous. There is no real valet you have to drive down into the parking garage and then the car is parked four feet away from where you drop it off. The room and hotel were very nice but the extra charges were not worth it.

Helpful front desk. Probably should not have a resort fee, but at least got two beers a night. Right next to food carts and Pioneer Square, giving good access to the surrounding region. Nice rooms, friendly staff, would stay again. Comfortable lobby with a piano, chess, and fireplace. Delicious coffee and tea. Fitness room has a lot of equipment and is well-maintained.

Great location, nice facility. Dinner at Finch was very good. Valet parking was convenient but a bit pricey. Piano music in the main lounge was too loud. A couple of flaws with the service: The promised refrigerator did not show up and there was no housekeeping on our first day. We might stay at this location again, but management needs to work on some of these "nits."

Like staying here most times I come to PDX. Centrally located, cool vibe, and a decent gym for a hotel. Really good lobby to hang in if you need time before flights. Only critique for this visit is we asked for extra towels multiple times on different days, twice we didn't get the towels and a third time we didn't get the number of towels that we asked for.

Beautiful older hotel. No pool, but the rooms are spacious, luxurious and comfortable. The only thing that I recommend are to install safety rails in the shower, otherwise excellent!

Had a great time. Love the decor and vibe of the whole place. My only complaint was there was an odd smell in the hallway and in our room. Couldn't tell if it was like a cleaner or if it was someones bad astringic perfume that just seemed to permeate everything. It kind of smelt like herbal/ musty /hospital like... It was really weird. Other than that we had a great time.

I booked a last minute stay here. I was happily surprised with how nice the room was. The design and art was super cute and unique. Everything was very clean. The coffee bar was excellent with real half and half. I had to transition to another hotel (Dossier) for my final night of the trip and felt disappointed that I hadn’t been able to extend my stau at the Royal Sonesta.

We had a wonderful week at this hotel. The decor was fabulous both in our room and in the common areas. Our room was clean and very spacious. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Special shout out to our breakfast host and valet Nadia :) We will definitely stay here again next time!

We stayed for 2 nights over my birthday weekend. The staff was very friendly and the room, a King Suite, was large and well appointed. The sofa would benefit from cushions and i'd rwather see a desk than a table and 2 small armchairs in the sitting room but that's just me. The king bed was very comfy and the decor is whimsical in a tasteful way. I highly recommend.

Loved every detail of this hotel, with the exception of the shower. Our room was beautiful, creative, quiet and peaceful. I took a bath and it was also wonderful. But the shower was a different story. The water seems to be on a constant rotation of cold to hot, no matter where you set it. Will probably still go back, because everything else was so delightful.

The staff was friendly and very professional. The location was excellent for walking to nearby events or using the local transportation. I didn't like the thin walls; you could hear the television and voices carry over from the room next door. I was in room 922 and the guest in room 921 did not quiet down until 2:00 A.M. I'm grateful my sleep was only disturbed for one night.

This place is expensive and not worth it!! And then on top of it you have to pay a ridiculous amount to park. The room didn’t have a fridge or a microwave. $15 to a buffet of only eggs, potatoes, sausage and bacon. I would never recommend or stay here again!!

Stunning and Kitchi room. Really played up the Royal theme. Luxury linen, mattress and bath products were quite the indulgence. It is in a great location downtown with easy accessibility to any number of food and entertainment options. The Staff at this hotel were kind, energetic and incredibly thoughtful. I would not recommend the in house breakfast option, but with so many other local favorites around it is not a deterent.

This a fun, eccentrically styled hotel. Big rooms! Bed and furnishings were great. You are right downtown so you can walk to great venues and restaurants. The only downside to rooms is We did not have a fridge or microwave in room so that could be a deal breaker for some.

We stayed here for our wedding night after our local wedding. I've stayed at a lot of the hotels downtown Portland after a fun night out and my experience at the Royal Sonesta was one of the absolute best. We booked a king suite, the price was very reasonable, the decor was very fun and unique and the room was spacious. We hadn't mentioned that it was our wedding night but the concierge asked as we were heading out to our reception. When we returned we found a lovely note and a bottle of champagne in our room. It was truly a magical experience and we might have to make a tradition of it.

This was a great place to stay in downtown Portland. Good location and a very nice room. I have an electric car, which the valet attendant plugged in each time I returned. The staff was great and they have a morning coffee and tea service which was fantastic. Staff were very friendly and helpful -- even bringing a refrigerator to the room on request. Will stay there again for sure!

Stayed over for an anniversary celebration. Attentive staff in every area (valet, front desk, restaurant, breakfast). Eclectic, loud, and fun decor throughout. My partner enjoyed using the piano in the large lobby/lounge. The grand suite was very comfortable and spacious. The only minor downside is that some of the furnishings and wall paper could use maintenance/updating. However, I would stay again or recommend. We are local.

The room was very clean and surprisingly large. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We did not have breakfast as we had to leave prior to their opening. The parking was nice. The valet was very helpful. As due to its location in Portland, the ease of parking in the security provided was excellent. Again, do the fact that we had to leave so early we are unable to eat dinner at the restaurant. The menu looked very nice with a large variety of Pacific Northwest options. There are several very excellent restaurants within walking distance. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting Portland for several days or just short term. An excellent downtown location, my wife and I’ll definitely stay there again.

The hotel itself was clean and felt very safe inside, which was a big plus. One highlight was the valet parking service and the Tesla charger, which worked perfectly and added great convenience to my stay. While the area immediately outside the hotel was a bit sketchy, with a noticeable presence of homeless individuals, it still felt reasonably safe. The location didn’t take away from the excellent value I found in the price of the room. Overall, I was very satisfied and would definitely stay here again.

Do not stay at this hotel. Although staff was excellent the location in Portland WA was unsafe, dirty, isolated. Homeless persons were on every street wandering and shouting. I could not wait to check out of this property and felt very uncomfortable in the neighborhood.

I booked a corner king and the room was very spacious. The bathroom was excellent - large and well lit with a good shower. The furnishings were a bit worn, but the bed was comfortable. It would have been nice if we could open the windows a bit. All hotel staff members were very helpful and friendly. Our only real complaint was the breakfast buffet minimal choices and poor quality. It’s better to go to one of the many local cafes.

This property has a "destination" fee of $30 per day where you get to use $15 a day in the restaurant or "market" sadly the restaurant is only open Fri and Sat. And the "market" doesnt have many options. We picked this location because we had stayed here 6 months ago but were saddened that the restaurant was unavailable. Also the morning snacks were next to non existent. We will definitely choice a different hotel in the future.

I stayed in a suite at the Royal Sonesta in Portland. It was a wonderful, spacious, whimsical, fabulous room. I highly recommend the suite, which might involve an upgrade. It was totally worth it to have this extra little room. Thei lobby of the hotel is gorgeous, and I appreciated the Continental breakfast. My only regret was that, although I had a $15 credit per night for concession or the attached restaurant, the restaurant was closed, and the concession was very limited. I loved this hotel so much.

Don't ever lose your stuff, you will never get it back. I left a kindle on August 8th, called them up a couple hours after I had checked out, and instead of just having the kindle ready for me to pick up, they sent me to a website to claim it. They said it was the most convenient way to do it (for them, not me). I went through their system and confirmed they had the kindle and arranged to pick up at the front desk. Instead of getting it at the front desk, they claim that they shipped my kindle to another person. From there, the excuses only grew: first, this other person they said would ship it back to them; then the story became that they it wasn't shipped to them or there was a problem with the tracking number. Then they claimed that it was returned to the sender and will return to the hotel in good time. Folks, it has been nearly a month and there is no sign of my kindle. 90% of the communication has been initiated by me, and all they do is give me empty platitudes about "thanking me for my patience." My patience is not unlimited, although it seems as if their ineptitude is.
