Homewood Suites by Hilton Downers Grove Chicago

The room was okay the carpet was old and ripping from edges. The kitchenette was nice . The housekeeping staff was very nice . The breakfast was good . The dinning area was always dirty no one cleaned tables durning breakfast hours. The pool was dirty, and the chemicals were not right I got a very bad skin rash after being in hot tub .

One of the elevators isn’t in service. With there being 7 floors we would have to wait sometimes 20/30 minutes to catch an elevator down. Stairwells only had exit to the outside and had alarms on the doors. Front desk said to push the alarm and exit that way and seemed disinterested. Alarm didn’t sound and or wouldn’t open. Felt like trapped rats. The fire marshall needs to pay this location a visit.

Hotel is under construction. Indoor pool was filthy!

The gym amenities are fantastic and love the separation of weight and cardio. Family enjoyed pool time. Under construction but the future reno is looking good. Didn't prohibit me whatsoever on enjoying my stay. Will stay again on future travels in this area.

The property is undergoing renovation to the lobby area which looks like a nice upgrade. The room was recently remodeled and was lovely, quiet and comfortable. The indoor pool was open but the outdoor pool was closed and out of service. The exercise facility was well maintained.

Nice bar, nice hotel louge, friendly staff, nice shopping in the area. good free breakfest. ample free parking.

They are doing renevations so they get a pass on somethings but its only one elevator which made it very busy and crowded almost all the time. That sucked. The stair way was dark and dirty(trash literally on the floor my whole stay) the pool was a little small and the area was a little dirty and old and the water loomed cloudy. The hallways were really nice clean and updated and the rooms were clean and updated and the full kitchen was nice with stainless steel applainces but the room was small(no square footage of the room on expedia) only real complaint about the room was the bathroom door. It took us forever to open the old wood sliding door thats on horrible tracks. Took us minutes to open it. Stuck in the bathroom until you open it. The free breakfast was cool but not the best free breakfast but doable. The gym was clean and had good equipment and weights. I wouldnt stay here again maybe after renovations itll be better.

The pool was absolutely disgusting, the filter had apparently not been working for the previous 10 days and they clearly had not cleaned the pool. Ants were everywhere inside the pool area. We stayed for 20 minutes for my kid but I couldn’t handle how gross it was. The pool ended up discoloring my swimsuit dramatically, and I haven’t heard from management for any resolution to these issues.

The pool and hot tub were not clean. There was dirt floating on top of the bubbles in the hot tub.

In addition, there was absolutely no signage on the exterior of building directing guests to the only available entrance (this is a double bagded hotel - Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn). The outdoor part of the pool was closed - no explanation. The indoor part of the pool was unpleasantly warm and the weather was very hot and humid. The entry and lobby area was dirty. Our room was okay until we noted a water leak in the bathroom ceiling. The complimentary breakfast was decent. The staff was great, but we suspect the management needs improvement.

Overall it was ok. The setup of the hotel is very nice. It wasn't until I got into the bathroom that I noticed some issues. There was hair on the walls of the shower and a weird stain in the toilet. There was also a lot of dust on the pocket door of the bathroom which suggests the cleaning could be better.

Hotel is nice and clean. I loved how modern everything was. Our room was okay. Our fridge still had stuff from the previous occupant. There were several ants and urine around our toilet .Other than the issues in the room it was a good stay.

When you enter the doors of the hotel , you can smell urine. At the front entrance there was dog poop on the floor. The smell is through out the hotel. The room was exactly clean and looks just like the picture but air conditioner in the room didn't keep the room to cool in the middle of the night and the entrance of the hotel doesn't smell clean with all the dogs running around.

It was clean, quiet and a good value

Was overall good. Food was good and staff were nice. The toilets were not clean. The towel hooks were loose.

Very clean hotel and friendly staff

The ac unit was in the ceiling of the bathroom in our room and the fan was super loud and knocking all night long. Luckily we had a sound machine or I would not have been able to sleep. It was terrible.

Good location outside Chicago, 30 minutes from MDW. Room was small for a 1 bedroom suite, but was comfortable and clean. Restaurant was great and lots of parking. We would stay there again.

Enjoyed it very much, room clean and spacious, parking is easy and breakfast was decent. I would definitely come here again :) the times i have come here its been a great experience over all

Nice stay, good service, lonely room. Full fridge, stove top, dishwasher. Almost like a mini apartment. Will be staying again

This was a great experience! The staff was helpful and knowledgeable. The room was clean and comfortable. The extras were great, exercise room, in door pool, whirlpool, breakfast each morning, coffee and dessert available 24/7 in the lobby. Plenty of space to sit and lounge, a bar with access to bar food. The area is quiet and comfortable. Close to shopping and restaurants and the expressway. The kitchenette was a great plus; plates, cups, silverware, pans, microwave, refrigerator, stove everything available. We had two rooms so if I wanted to nap the French doors could close and someone could see the tv in the other room! We will visit again!!!!

Tried to check in about 3:30pm and “the room was not ready”, but I convinced the front desk to go ahead and give me the keys at that time so I wouldn’t have to stop back at the desk when we returned from dinner with family in the area. When we returned around 8:00 and tried to go directly to the room, there were people in that room. So back to the desk, where a different employee explained that we had been told the wrong room number and were supposed to be in a different room. She quickly got us keys to the other room, but it was still not a pleasant experience to go to a room that you believe to be yours and have it occupied already. The room we finally settled into was nice enough and met our needs for this one night stay, but it did not match the pictures/description online. Our suite, 2 double beds with sofa bed, did not have a sofa bed, it did not even have a sofa. It just had a two cushion love seat type piece, but wasn’t really big enough for two people to sit on and you certainly couldn’t lay on it. The room pictures showed a full fridge/freezer and doors to close off the bedroom. We had a small fridge, no freezer and no doors. The bathroom was clean and spacious. We did not try the breakfast, we just slept and left. Would probably try for a better experience somewhere else next time.

It was very nice and everything worked properly. I was concerned when we checked in that we were right next to the elevator, but we never heard the slightest noise from the elevator or from the hallway. I will definitely stay there again when the need arises.

Room was small and need to be remodeled

The suite was very clean and quiet. It was nice to have a small kitchen. That was very unexpected. The light switch to the bathroom was the only negative, as it was positioned inside the bathroom on the far wall. Otherwise I would highly recommend this location. The breakfast was hot and well attended, quite good.

This was the worst experience I have had when dealing with a higher end hotel. The check went terrible. The staff wasn’t helpful or informative. And I had to pay for another day and the desk told me to do it online because she didn’t feel like helping me do a new reservation. I though I was robbed told front desk and she laughed about the whole situation.

Exceptional front desk service, both at check-in and during our time there. Cheerful and friendly, taking care of every need. Our room was immaculate, comfortable, and seemed sound proof, it was so quiet. We were given a top floor room as requested. Breakfasts were delicious, with plenty to choose from. Kitchen staff did well to keep items stocked, fresh, and ready for the weekend surge. DIdn't have local TV, but plenty of streaming options. Enjoyed the tiny balcony for a morning coffee break, and for storm watching.

This is a great place to stay. The staff was so friendly and accommodating unlike other hotels. The Director of Operations "Jose" made it a point to check in with us while we were at the front desk, don't see that anymore. The room was clean and spacious as well as other areas of the hotel.

Jul 16 9:49 am we liked our room because it was a set up that was different But then the next day I get a text from room service saying “if you need anything don’t hesitate to let us know” We needed towels so I asked if they could refill them while we were out for the day Lana replied yes, We get back to the hotel at night and there’s no towels in site So I end up calling the front desk and a lady helped me with getting someone for our towels and was very apologetic which I appreciated in the moment. Then they bring the towels and then a few hours later I get another knock with EVEN more towels which at that point weren’t needed. So the communication has to be better The 2 maids I saw walk around on their phones, giving you your towels at your door while looking at their phone lol…okay Then the last thing was breakfast ended at 10am WHICH is understandable My girlfriend and I made it there at 9:49am And was greeted by the breakfast already being closed off, it’s not 10am yet. Of course there’s maid sitting at the breakfast area With their phones And I ask the lady (most likely a maid) if we can pass to get a quick breakfast (we didn’t even want to sit) and she replies that breakfast is closed. I was told breakfast closed at 10am mind you there were still people eating and sitting down. I get that we were 10 mins until the breakfast official closed but front desk said it’s closed at 10am not 9:50am, of course it’s the maid eating and on her phone that says no

The hotel was clean. The service was excellent with friendly staff. The hotel is conveniently located near lots of restaurants and shopping. I can't wait to return.

The hotel is combined with a Hampton in a mostly business area. It's not far from Butterfield Road which gives lots of options for food, shopping and entertainment. The breakfast was really good with multiple options and the food was hot.

Remodeled clean and up to date. They offer a great breakfast. Has a hot tub, pool, gym, bar and restaurant service. They also do a social time on Wednesday night it's very nice, free soup and salads breads, hummus and fruits, also free beer and wine. Highly recommend!

Heat rooms and extremely good breakfast

The property is just as great as it looks, and the breakfast is fresh and well made every morning. It is actually a great perk. I will definitely be staying again.

Great food and bar, didn't have to leave.

The staff was very nice, the room was also very comfortable and homey. My only true feedback that could be used for improvement is maybe some better hot breakfast items but the breakfast was still good. I really was looking forward to simple items like just some scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon being offered
