Very good shuttle services to/ from Metro Airport (24hrs a day)

They let people park there to catch flights so when you arrive for the evening there is no place to park. There solution is to you park down the street and walk back which is poor customer satisfaction. But in the meantime the car parkers have suburb parking. As a hotel customer it seems I paid more than car parkers but have terrible parking. Those people should park their cars down the road since they will be gone for days. The swimming pool has a tarp on it and it looks terrible around that area, run down to the max. The male attendant lied about the breakfast saying they had eggs, waffle etc and it's a out of the box breakfast. Do your self a favor and stay across at the Sheraton....... I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

Limited parking space

Stay was great. For a busy weekend. Parking was kind of crazy.

Great stay, was short but had a decent continental breakfast and the people were very helpful. Shadow driver was expedient.

Over all the rooms, and property was nice. As always there is room for improvement.Such as a few updating. The bed was comparable, room was spacious. The bathroom sink drained slow. But was clean. They make it easy to leave your car and free shuttle to the airport. You just have to remember to go to the lobby about 20 minutes before you need to leave. Because they run often.

No frills hotel. Great breakfast that’s included. Nice small gym to get your workout in. Love the parking on site. Very convenient and great direct shuttle to airport.

The stay was good for the price. The pool was not in service. It was one of the reason I chose the facility. The staff was extremely helpful.

Price per night and availability of extended parking was great. Shuttle to the airport was convenient. We didn't have a garbage in our room which posed a challenge.

This hotel was the worst hotel I’ve ever been in! My room was disgusting, hair and dirt and I don’t even want to imagine what else was all over the floors. The bathroom had hair in the tub and the sink. The mirror was filthy and someone had punched a hole in the door, which was poorly plastered. There was dirt and another brown substance all over the walls. We did not even sleep under the sheets because they were stained. My two children and I woke up with bedbug bites. The chargers in the lamps didn’t work. The pool was not only shut down, but full of green slime. The blinds were broken and the room was a “non-smoking” room but smelled so strongly of smoke I had to give my child with asthma his inhaler. The desk attendant was rude and did nothing with my complaints. We “slept” there for 4 hours and left. Horrible experience.

Black mold in the rooms, dirty sticky floors, terrible customer service from staff

The room was super dirty. Stains on the sheets and the bathroom (shower area) clearly had not been cleaned adequately in a long time.

I don’t typically leave reviews, and I wasn’t expecting a whole lot for $60–just a place to sleep before a flight. But the room was infested with cockroaches. Disgusting.

We arrived Friday at about 8:00 p.m. on a busy Michigan Football weekend. There was a line at the desk and only one clerk. Management should have anticipated the need for more than one clerk. When we finally checked in (45 minutes later,) there was a line of six very unhappy people behind us. We missed dinner because the only restaurant within walking distance closed at 9:00 p.m. The shabbiness of the room was evident when we walked in the door. We spotted two cockroaches - one on the phone and one on the toilet. The one large chair in the room had ripped underside lining material hanging down on the floor. The small lumbar accent pillow on the bed was torn apart on one end with the stuffing hanging out and had a second large tear in the material next to the zipper. We killed a third cockroach later in the evening, which gave us the creeps all night. The TV made annoying loud clicking noises when the sound was on. The next morning we complained and to their credit the staff was very responsive. They gave us a can of bug spray (it was handy so obviously they knew this was an ongoing problem) and brought up a new TV. We sprayed in the morning but when we returned from the game there was another one on the wall. At least the hot breakfast each morning was good.

The hotel is very dirty. I lifted the sheets up to check for bed bugs and the mattresses were stained with brown. The room smells like someone smoked a pack of cigarettes in there. The door was sorta jammed so when open and closing you have to pull and push very hard. The fridge seal looks dirty or moldy. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay away!!

The rooms are super small. The bedding was so thin. There was no parking available. The staff was nice but the hotel is run down and outdated.

Bathtub was rusty. AC working with noise. Old vending machine did not accept credit card. No water provided in room.

The room was nice, no weird smells. Small but clean. Everything was in good working order.

Heat didn't work

This day was pretty good. It was clean. The only thing was that the first room I was put in, I didn't realize that the lock did not work until my second night. Anyone could have walked in to my room while I was away and could have taken everything. But they promptly acted quick and put me in a new room right away. Thank goodness the area was not so bad. Because I did not want to come back to an empty room with all of my things stolen.

The AC was broken in 1st room then moved to another room and AC in that room barely worked. I would not recommend this place

The hotel is close to the airport but needs maintenance and is slow to return the deposit charged on top of the room charge.

The room had three lamps only one had a light bulb. The remote control didn’t have any batteries. Other than the room was ok.

Hotel for the price was good, limited channels, wifi poor, but good bed , good coffee, airport access good.

Parking lot is full of park and fly cars, no spots available so we had to park on muddy grass.

They did not give me my deposit back due to dirty towels which I don’t understand. Most of these Romulus hotels are very rude and unprofessional. I would recommend stay outside of the airport. We are the consumers without our money there is no you remember that! Very disappointed in the amount of money I have spent on stays here within the last few years.

Great staff

When I checked in, I was informed of a $50 deposit, which is not listed ANYWHERE and Orbitz is actually really good about informing of all fees involved. I had just gotten off a red eye flight that had been delayed several times so already exhausted and just ready to get some sleep just went with it. When I woke up, flipped the pillows over to find nasty stains. Brought the cases down to the desk and requested new pillow cases only to be accused of putting the stains there myself and told I would be charged for new pillow cases! I stayed for 3 nights, requested housekeeping 3 separate times and they never showed. Couldn’t get parking space anywhere, had to park at the restaurant next to the hotel. Quite the walk for someone who has an artificial ankle and walks with a cane. The pool that’s advertised is not open. The sink would take over an hour to drain after use. Was charged an extra fee on my card “in case of incidentals” which is absurd since there’s no room service. Bath tub plug doesn’t plug. Bath tub paint also chipping. Above all of that, however, it was the rude staff that made the experience the worst. A little bit of customer service can go a LONG way. I was here on business and I can assure you myself nor my employer will ever willingly book this hotel again.

Easy going and very helpful

The building is quite run down. The dead boldt on the door didn't not sit correctly so if felt less than safe. The female desk person was rude at times but there was a gentlemen at the desk that was very polite.

The room was decent for the price. It has the basics covered. The hotel staff was nice and there are many options for food in walking distance. The Beirut restaurant was excellent. Unfortunately, the shuttle driver was not what I wish to encounter. He was an angry man, and I am so sorry that he needs to live that way. But no matter what his issue is, he needs to learn anger management if he chose to work to serve others. He complained that my luggage was too heavy and asked $5 to unload it.

This Howard Johnson hotel is conveniently located minutes from the Detroit airport. The room I had was clean with a comfortable bed and friendly staff. The free airport shuttle was very helpful. I would steer clear of the Bob Evans restaurant next door. UBER eats and Doordash have several good options. Overall I would stay again.

Comfortable and conveniently located near the airport!

This property is conveniently located just a few minutes from the Detroit airport. It is the most competitively priced hotel that I could find and was very surprised at how affordable it was. Now I will say this is an old building and not the most attractive place but for the price it’s definitely worth a try if you’re traveling single and just need a night to relax or flight plans changed.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Howard Johnson. When I booked our stay via Hotels.com, the rooms were reasonably priced, and upon arrival, the hotel rooms and bathrooms were clean. They had a good variety of continental breakfast items. Even though the hotel is near the airport, it was quiet. The hotel is walking distance from several restaurants in the area and gas station. Excellent customer service and shout out to Genona at the front desk for booking an extra room for me! 😉 Overall, my family and I had a pleasant stay and will come back again.

What I didn't like, was the Continental breakfast buffet no hot food. Frozen waffles with a toaster not able to toast the waffles just dries out the waffles.

If was nice having a real North American breakfast. Not a continental breakfast which is just muffins and tea. Appreciated the breakfast was early. Also super nice to be almost walking distance from the airport since we had to get up very early. The pool is outside for hot weather but it was hot, so the pool was great. The price was really good. We are from Windsor, across the river, so if it would have been too expensive, we would just endure getting up another 2 hours earlier at home, but even after converting to Canadian, very inexpensive.

Breakfast could have had more choices…very limited

Some parts a little dirty and old,no ice in upstairs machine,breakfast had no real protein mostly carbohydrates and sugar,no cup of soup or small meal stuff,but was cheap,also have to wait 5-7 days to return my deposit? It satisfied our requirements and had a refrigerator like I asked to have and a microwave which were pluses,probably give it a 3.25 out of 5 possible stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️
