Advertised A hot tub The hot tub was not working.We were very disappointed

No elevator. Stayed 3 nights and no room cleaning unless requested. Baked goods for breakfast were not fresh each day. Pool was dirty and whole area was very undesirable.

Second time staying here. Both times were excellent. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly, breakfast delicious. We enjoyed the indoor/outdoor pool.

No elevator. We slept late and didn’t get breakfast which is on us but not even coffee was left for us

The pool was not clean, decided not to use it. Whirlpool tub water only warm. Bathroom was very small. only one small packet of pepper in the breakfast area.

Nice beds, generous sized rooms, good breakfast foods. As we turned lights on in the room, stink bugs entered our room from the deck door off the back. We killed 5 of them, 3 on the ceiling. The lights in our room were attracting them I guess. Anyway it was kind of gross. Pool wasn’t heated at all but the hot tub was nice.

Jets in hot tub didn’t work

Nice hotel just outside of downtown. Has a unique indoor/outdoor pool

Very inconvenient to get to 3rd floor for seniors because of no elevator....you have a dozen stairs to climb 🙄

Nice property, clean room, but once the lights were out, so were the bed bugs. We shortened outmr trip and left immediately after finding bugs in a hideabed.

Was just dirty and uncomfortable pillows were horrible had a sore neck for a week after… I will not stay at a best western again

This was the worst experience. We paid a lot of money for a room that smelled like mildew and mold. The lobby smelled horrible, there was water damage everywhere. The air conditioning unit was so loud I couldn’t sleep. The bed was gross and made me feel all itchy after sleeping in it. The smell in the room was nauseating. The pool was disgusting. Expedia shouldn’t even have this place listed on their site. We spent way too much money for what we experienced. Absolutely horrible.

The room smelled terrible. There was a potato chip in the blanket when we arrived and a brown streak on another blanket. Towels were dingy. Shower curtain moldy at the bottom. Dusty webs on the ceiling. Flickering lights in the bathroom. Dirty and dusty indoor/outdoor furniture. Not enough hot food at breakfast for all hotel guests. Pool and hot tub area dark and depressing. Yellow ring around hot tub. Dirty, weed-filled parking lot strewn with litter. Reasonably friendly staff. View from balcony would’ve been nice if grounds weren’t littered with pop cans and cigarette butts.

I was supposed to stay 2 nights and we only stayed one. We settled into our room in the evening and immediately found old fross pizza in the microwave. The cleaning lady gave me cleaning supplies so i can clean it myself and didn't offer to clean it. There were dead bugs on the phone and hair on the dressers. We went to take showers and it took 30 minutes for the water to drain. We did 2 days because we wanted to utilize the pool for an afternoon, but after seeing the condition of the pool we decided to check out. Unfortunately, no one offered to clean the room or fix the tub. I couldn't stay there another night and cut our trip short.

Dusty and mold bathroom ceiling I would not stay again for what I paid

We checked in and the room smelled horrible. Tried to turn on the air conditioner to get some air moving and it did not help the room smelled like a damp unfinished dirt floor basement. We also walked the pool area and it appeared as if it hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time. We notified the front desk we would not be staying checked out and went down the road and found a very clean well kept hotel and had an amazing stay at the different hotel. I would not recommend staying here it is clear they have quit caring about the upkeep of their property. While charging the same rates as the other hotel which was clean smelled great and looked like management cared.

Upon entering the room, we were pleasantly surprised with the size. However, we found the toilet was already clogged when we got there. We also found quite a bit of hair in the bed suggesting they didn’t change the sheets between guests. I called about the issues. The staff came to plunge the toilet and then simply wiped up the water off the floor with a towel. They also handed me a flat sheet for the bed. They did not change the linen. I was a little disgusted.

The room was large which was nice but there was mold all over the bathroom. The bed in the large room was way too hard. No elevator. No one at the front desk. No one refilling the breakfast food. No milk.

I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the room I received. I booked a 2 queen with a pull-out couch for 3 people and thought the room would feel cramped. The exact opposite was what I received. The room was very spacious and the pull out was a full couch, not just a love seat. The room also had a balcony where I sat and watched 2 bunnies hopping around in the forested area behind the hotel. Very peaceful! The room was clean and the shower was very nice, until I looked up and saw some mildew on the ceiling. Not much, but it's worth mentioning that the cleaning crew might want to look up in the bathroom prior to finishing their cleaning of any room.

This an older BW with an odd layout but it is surprisingly well run and comfortable. The room was clean and pretty spacious. Miriam at the front desk was friendly and very helpful in discussing dinner options. All in all a very nice stay for a good price.

Updated clean room. The beds, and bedding were very comfortable. Quiet, complimentary breakfast and friendly staff.

The king rooms were very nice. Like the entrance from the parking lot and you could sit outside your door

The log cabin room was very unique! Loved it!

When I got a jacuzzi room you could hear the next room running the water so loud in my room. I couldn’t sleep none in the morning

Nice clean room with comfortable beds and a small porch looking out into a wooded area…very pleased

After checking into the room and relaxing, another guest was given access cards to our room in which they opened the door. When checking out, was given a bill that belonged to another guest. Wi-Fi was very intermittent the entire stay.

The staff is always friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fantastic. Our room, a suite with an "extra bedroom" was spacious and comfortable. The location of the hotel is easy to get anywhere you want to visit in Galena, and literally a walk across the parking lot to Happy Joe's or Frank O'Dowds Pub

The bed was very comfortable. However, the lack of TV access was a definite issue.

The room was dirty upon arrival and we were given a new room. This room had an issue with keycards and we were locked out of the room no less than 4 times. The pool area was dingy and dirty. The staff was not very helpful when problems came up, apparently there is no manager on site. The outside of the hotel was littered with trash including a discarded bed frame. We ended up checking out early because of the issues we had. The positives were the water pressure and the beds were comfortable. There was one front desk worker that was friendlier and more willing to help you out, I didn’t catch his name.

My partner and I went on a 3 day mental health staycation, we paid big bucks to have a jetted tub in the room so we could just escape the world and while using it the 2nd day we had no hot water. I am dying and my partner is stressed so she called the front desk and was told to wait 30 minutes, we did, we were told they had several check in's the place was a ghost town. We called back, we then were told to turn the water on all the way like we don't know how to work hot water, my Partner called again, was told to wait again, finally she made me call and the front desk person did come down and I explained if I turned it until it spun I would rip the knob off and that the shower had no hot water as well. We were told to wait again, she comes back which I give her credit for her was YOUNG! My partner was getting annoyed, angry and Literally I had to trouble shoot the water problem myself having her go check water in other area's and then telling her to go call the manager and telling her the hot water heater had fritzed out. this literally took 4 hours of getting up and down checking the water temp, running it, and waiting with a hotel that wasn't even a quarter of the way full. In credit of the young front desk person they did call the manager and a plumber was called and 8 hours later we had hot, hot water but the day was wasted away, my partner was stressed and the relaxing get away turned into me working for free while paying big bucks to not have the hot tub I paid for

We signed up for a handicap room When we got here they tried to put us in a room on 2nd floor without an elevator.

Front desk staff were either fantastic or horrible. One woman was grumpy and did not want to help with anything. The man we had was fantastic and helpful.

The staff really appeared like they didn’t want to be there. Took a personal call in lieu of checking us in. Further there were no extra pillows and the ones on the beds were so small and flat. The following morning the breakfast area was limited with choices. The same staff from The previous day who had checked us in told us she had been gone for three weeks and that nobody taught her how to make the waffle batter and therefore she wasn’t gonna put any out. She did go so far though to put out the syrup.

Great place in a great location to skiing and the downtown area. The first room we were given had a faulty entry lock, but staff helped immediately by switching us to a new room. Clean, pleasant experience.

We liked the location. It was close to Grants home and next to a very good pizza restaurant. We felt safe and liked the breakfast.

This hotel is very cozy and comforting. The hotel staff during the weekdays was amazing and so friendly. I really enjoyed talking with them. The location of the hotel is awesome as it is next to a pizza place with an arcade and a gas station. Super convenient.

Great hotel, very close to Galena and Ulysses S Grant's former home. Breakfast was very good. Rooms were spacious and clean. Got a good night's rest. Very quiet.

Close to the tourist areas. Easy access. I like it had a door to the outside AND a door to the main hallway.

Property is dated, and in need of updating. Room was dirty. Bed uncomfortable. Had a spider and 2 other unknown bugs in our room, one of which was in the bed. Air comditioner on 62 the whole time, and room still not cool. Half of the lights in the room didn't work. Balcony has a constant water drip from above, not usuable. Breakfast not great. For over $200 per night, I'd rather pitch a tent in the woods! Never again.

Desk clerk friendly. Breakfast was great. The cave room was fabulous.

The lady at our check in was very nice. Bed not terribly comfortable. Would recommend bringing your own pillows if you can. Saturday morning breakfast was decent for a free breakfast, however the lady at the front desk was not nice. She appeared very irritated at anyone that walked through the door. Was short and rude when answering questions. Made a comment about having to push in chairs that the guests were worse than chlildren.

Breakfasts were very good. Eating area was small and sometimes crowded. Property needs updating.

Hotel was ok for a night or two. Nothing exceptional. Wasn’t spotless but wasn’t dirty either. The breakfast below average compared to most major chain hotels. Wasn’t refilled and breads were stale.

This is a budget hotel that offers everything a guest needs and expects in this price category, including a hot breakfast. The room has a microwave and refrigerator which I did not expect. My room faced the back of the property, which was some woods and greenery, very pleasant view. I wanted to be on the ground floor since the hotel does not have an elevator but since the property is is on a hill, in the back the ground floor window and balcony are pretty high from the ground so I felt pretty safe. The bathtub had a non slip bottom which was very appreciated. Breakfast was sufficient, included eggs and sausage. The person who checked me in was very helpful understanding my needs and preferences and gave me a room that was exactly right for me.
