Courtyard by Marriott Chicago Downtown/River North

Hotel refused to valet our car. We had to park car on the street hoping it would not be stolen. Created a lot of stress for the entire family, ruining our vacation. Checked out early and left Chicago as soon as we could.

Staff was friendly and accomodating. Location was great for Navy Pier and the River Walk. The pool was too cold for me. Fitness center was adequate but stuffy (AC not keeping up).

The staff is very friendly and helps with any questions, for this a huge thank you! But it was very upsetting that the parking under the hotel building is closed and the whirpool is on the hotel business card photo, but in reality it is filled with concrete.

I enjoyed the exercise facilities, along with the sauna and lap pool.

Property was well kept. Staff were helpful and friendly. The fitness area and sauna were very nice as well.

They advertise that parking is available. What they don't tell you is that you have to pay $65 for overnight parking by the valet.

Overall the stay was good, there were 3 elevators but only 1 working most of our stay, its in a good location, but just know you are in downtown so dont expect quiet at night.

Shower is small for plus size people. View was of nothing other than other hotel rooms. Pool was advertised as heated, but it was very cold and there are no stairs into the pool. Sauna wasn’t functioning.

Great place. We were a little caught off guard when valet let us know they don’t park Dodge vehicles because they are the most stolen vehicle type. Keep that in mind when coming. We had to park in a public lot a block away. Not bad but definitely made us cautious after being told that.

The floor area by the pool was dirty and the pool was cold. The beds were extremely comfortable.

Our room only got cleaned once. Kind of older and dirty. The front staff and bell staff were great.

My 3 kids and I spent one night and the room was very large for Chicago (2 queen beds). Everyone in the front lobby were so friendly. The rooms were clean. They stored our luggage prior to check-in and after check-out so we could spend two full days in Chicago. The kids used the pool at night and it was perfect.

The room was very clean and very big. The beds were so very comfortable. The showers were very hot and had great water pressure. The shampoo and conditioner smelled great. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Room was clean, staff were good, kingbed size room was small but good enough. Reason for 3 rating is unfortunately a big cockroach made its way into the room from the bathroom. Called the front desk and they sent a guy, but until then chased it outside front door. One hack is to keep the bathroom lights ON. Then hopefully deters roaches to come out.

I have pictures that the bathroom was nasty and I have asked for towels. It took them a day and a half to bring me. It was just poorly service and all this money I spent and I thought it was a upscale hotel. It was a trashy hotel.

The location was great. The staff were very professional, kind, and helpful. If I could rate them alone and there work, I would give them all 10 stars! From the front desk to the security! I wanted to make sure I put a special light on their efforts. They were the very sole reason I did not have a blow out. However the room was not clean, bugs were crawling around my bathroom on 2 seperwte nights. I could hear my neighbor’s conversation and everything and I mean everything that was going on outside every night. My daughter could not sleep and only expressed her concerns after we checked out. In fear that it may have ruined the trip. I will be speaking with the booking agency regarding the matter. But once again I would like to end with a special praise to all the staff members who were working july17-21, they were awesome. And did all they could to address the issues I was having.

The door to the room doesn’t lock properly — someone could easily open it from the outside. The bathroom mirror was dirty, and the bathroom door handle was loose. There was hair on the bed that wasn’t ours, and the TV volume doesn’t work properly. The staff was okay.

My room was dirty. Sheets dirty. Found 2 roaches. Told the manager it took them until the next day to clean my sheets. Explained my experience to the manager and he said “ he spoke to his staff and hopes I’ll stay there again”. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

They did not make the room everyday.

Very friendly staff at the front desk We had a big issue getting the room cleaned as this didnt happen for a few days, and had to request new linen on a couple of occasions, otherwise we really enjoyed our stay

It’s a little run down and the tv didn’t even work.

Great location for our stay downtown. Be aware you right in the middle of downtown. Sirens, loud cars and activity go on all night long. I do not recommend the "pull out sofa." It is basically a plastic covered board with no linens provided.

Would expect 2 sinks and ample mirror space, this was tough with only 2 people when it can sleep 4. There are no drawers, limited space to store items

The overall stay was great. A few things we didn't like was the lighting in the rooms, and the beds were uncomfortable!

Perfect central location to walk to almost anywhere. Hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Only two negatives of our stay was the internet connection was too slow to stream Netflix and uncomfortable pillows. Minor issues and we would definitely stay there again!

Staff was really sweet and very accommodating! They let us drop off our luggage early before check in so we didn't have to carry it all day with us. Highly recommend downloading the Marriot Bonvoy App as well because that will allow you to download a mobile key on your phone and also put in requests such as extra pillows/blankets! Housekeeping were also very nice and polite. Free water bottles behind the front desk as well if you are a guest. Our room was also ready before check in so we were allowed to check in almost an hour early! Amazing place, amazing staff, and very cozy. Thank you for an amazing stay!!!

The staff is so helpful and kind. They loaned us an umbrella and were ready to supply anything we needed. Great hotel!

Jock started and ended our trip on such a positive note. The hotel location is so convenient to everything in River North. The Courtyard Marriott in River North will definitely be a choice or recommendation again for anyone going to Chicago.

The staff was very attentive and quick to respond. We were gifted comp champagne and a breakfast meal since we were cebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. Cab service for us was quick and efficent from a suggestion from staff to use FlashCab.

This was our first stay at the Chicago North Courtyard. There was always an employee(s) in the lobby greeting us no matter the time of day, Asking us if we needed anything. When we had a family medical emergency, the night manager (Igor?) sensed it in the lobby and came over to offer help. He got her water and ice with a cloth. I said we would go upstairs and evaluate the situation but we might call an ambulance. He said to let him know and he would call. I did request one and he took care of calling and had security bring up a wheelchair for our sister. He must have brought her down in a different elevator(which was nice for her privacy) because she made it down before I could go back up. He wheeled her out to the ambulance. Early the next morning my sister was released and she and her husband needed help with transportation. When I went downstairs at 4am an employee named John (I think)helped us call and get them a cab back to the hotel. Even from the beginning of our stay at the Courtyard, I was very impressed at how much the staff said Hello or offered help. We went to a family wedding a few days before and the lobby staff helped us to get a taxi when we had a problem getting an uber. The housekeeping staff was helpful as well. I walked down the hallway to ask if I could bring trash to him and he said I will come down to you with a bag. Very friendly as well as the rest of the housekeeping staff who always said hi and smiled. This Courtyard is managed well and it shows.

Very unhappy with how things were. First night was good. Second night smoke detector went off around 10pm. Security guard came in and accused us of doing something wrong. Didn’t ask if there was a fire or if everyone was ok he immediately asked what we did. There was a malfunction with the detector. It went off again about 10 min later and the hotel said they’d move us. Well they did and it was right next to the elevator and loud all night. Would never stay again. It was handled poorly all around.

Staff was wonderful, always so helpful. We got a great rate on a king suite and it was perfect with 2 kids. Nice size and layout. The location is great in terms of being in the middle of everything.

The location is excellent easy walk to the River walk or Magic Mile.

Lots of noise from emergency vehicles and bars - this was front of hotel- recommended asking for room in back

Good stay for a long weekend. Location is central, lots of dining options nearby. Older property, but nicely maintained.

Nice hotel at reasonable cost for very good location. However, street noise was loud until about 2am every night during five night stay but may have been due to above average holiday week traffic

This was a great location. It was close to the Loop and other transit.

I have nothing but good thing to say about this hotel. Excellent service, location and facilities. The pool and surrounding areas were always clean. The rooms were cleaned daily by an excellent staff. Front desk people, doorman and security all great. Chek-in and out was a breeze. Walking distance to the River Walk, Millennium Park, Navy Pier and others are fairly close. Red Line train station only a block away.

Great location in River North

Awesome location for walking to just about anything. Great service, cafe for breakfast. Only negative is that there were frequent police/fire sirens pretty much nightly.

cleaning crew was great and responsive. Morning coffee service could be improved. A guest should not come for coffee a half hour before the service is scheduled to end and not be able to get any! please add a continental breakfast!

Front desk staff was friendly and check-in was a breeze. Housekeeping staff also did a great job. One note: Breakfast hours for the cafe are posted until 11:00am. However, the staff said they close at 10:30 and stopped making fresh coffee at 10:00. Not a huge deal. Just get there by 10:00am if you want coffee. Loved the River North location. So much to do in that area.

Service was great but pool was very cold and thete really wasn't a restaurant on the premises. Didn't mind that breakfast wasn't included but would have luke a dining option besides the overpriced "Cafe". $36 for a breakfast sandwich and yougert parfait was insane. Would not stay agIn.

This hotel was decent. I feel like our room Could have been a little cleaner especially for being a suite. There was also no notice of the restaurant in the hotel being closed permanently before arrival and this was one of the reasons I chose this hotel because I thought eating breakfast onsite would be more convenient. I also booked this hotel because it offered valet parking and once we arrived we were informed that we would have to find our own parking due to our rental vehicle being a dodge. When booking on Expedia it does not tell you that they won’t park a dodge vehicle. I think if I were to return to Chicago I would probably look at hotels that give you a river view but for the price this hotel was decent.

This property does not have Continental breakfast nor a bar they do not offer room service we had to go out or order door dash for food. The staff was very helpful and courteous

Nothing special this hotel, small rooms, aged rooms and hallways, not breakfast option, the only good thing about it is the location.

No restaurant in the hotel to eat breakfast. Very disappointing.

The parking garage recommend by the hotel was difficult to get and from. The on site restaurant appears to be permanently closed.

Wonderful staff!!! Just wish the cafe/bar was open more hours.
