This is a nice place to stay. Airport close, great outdoor concert venue. Ease of visiting other points of interest in San Diego and rooms overlooks the bay. The hotel is quiet and relaxing and has nice restaurants and a bar area by the pool/hot tub that we really enjoyed. There are other food options within walking distance. Felt safe and taken care of. The hotel is clean and the staff is nice however the room we stayed in needs a little updating but not a deal breaker.If you have disabilities or are elderly be sure to ask for a first floor room as there are no elevators. I cannot do stairs and the front desk was very kind and accommodated my request. This is a nice getaway and I would stay here again.

Check in was ammazing. We were immediately upgraded and offered discounts and free drink cupons.This is a resort like feel. Service in the restaurant was above excellent. Pool and hot tub were a little old but were very good. Warm water in the pool and hot tub was quite warm. Location on the marina was beatiful with the bay right across the street. Icing on the cake was live music at their music venue. We will stay here next time we are in San Diego. Only downside was expensive parking.

Our room was not cleaned thoroughly. There was an Old Spice men's deodorant left underneath the couch, an earring backing left near the toilet, some stains on the side of the toilet, and one of the bedsheets and bathroom towels had stains on them

Place is great, but the bathroom was not cleaned very well. There was some kind of stain in the tub, a stain on the floor of the bathroom and wall. I was disappointed.

Props for the pool and hot tub and the bartender, Sierra, was great. Property and vegetation is beautiful. Even the restaurant staff were great. Location is good. Ding the front desk folks-in general they were not "welcoming" or empathetic to our needs. I like to go to a hotel where the folks are pleasant and engaging. Not the case at Humphreys (and it wasn't that busy when we arrived). We had the "do not disturb" on our door and had the cleaning people knocked on our door multiple times. I had to walk out and ask if she understood that we didn't want to be disturbed. My Husband and I were there to relax and this was annoying. We have stayed here multiple times in the past and have not really experienced the lack of empathy at the front desk. (Our flight got cancelled the night before we arrived and missed a nights stay-no comment or sorry you didn't make it, etc.) The kicker was we had a late flight and I asked for late checkout and they told men"no" due to it being a concert night and full. Seriously, we had been there 5 nights already, could have given us the courtesy of a late check out. Or been nice about it and told us-sorry our policy is...but you can always leave your bags with us and we will give you a key to hang at the pool while you wait. Almost like I was bothering her by asking. Also-cleanliness of the room was a little suspect, refrigerator had mold in the space it was being housed in. A little gross for the amount one pays a night to stay here.

Our standard king room had a musty smell and wasn’t really clean as there were stains around the bathroom and someone else’s long black hair on the shower curtain. Young kids were screaming at the pool in the morning, waking us up too early. Landscaping was nice and the bed was comfortable. Not worth the price.

The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They helped me switch rooms to be closer to our friends. But the 2nd room we went in to had long black hair next to the neatly folded towels in the restroom and a slinky by the bed. The cleanliness was questionable, but I brought my own Clorox and Lysol and was staying for one night. It freaked me out a bit but I just went with the flow.

We absolutely loved the property. The grounds were beautiful, the pool was warm, the outdoor firepits were enjoyable. The concert on property was a pleasant surprise. We had a garden view room on the second level facing the pool. The room was a nice size, the beds were comfortable, the vaulted wood ceilings gave a nice vibe. The basic areas were clean, but some of the finishings were showing their age, and the room could benefit from a deep clean. (Dusty corners, dirty air vents) overall we really enjoyed the resort. The location was conviniently located for sight seeing with a car.

Really unique Polynesian style. Beautiful gardens. Perfect location. Everybody was extremely nice. Rooms are a bit dated, but I knew that in advance. My only complaint is my mattress should have been replaced several years ago it was very saggy.

While the garden and pool area were pretty and a fun setting, and the room itself was nice and comfortable, we would have liked to know ahead of time that the hotel has an outdoor concert/event venue that was right outside our room, so close we could see the performers on the stage by sitting out on our balcony. Both nights of our stay there were loud events going on (one until 10:30pm) that we could clearly hear even with the door closed. It would be helpful to let guests know about the venue/events before their stay, as we were expecting a quiet relaxing room and unfortunately didn’t have that in the evenings. I would encourage others to check with the hotel for events schedule before booking and would recommend the hotel make this clearer to guests, especially those staying right next to this venue.

Property was close to water and walkable to nearby bars and restaurants. Wasn't a real bike path nearby so didn't make much use of included bike rental. Property was kind of dated, front desk was usually a 5 min+ wait, and lighting in room was dark. Not a great value.

I stayed here for two nights before a conference to relax. The first day and night were anything but relaxing. I could hear everything from my room - people talking, children playing in the pool… then at night it was extremely loud with someone having a party then proceeding to yell. The front desk wouldn’t answer the phone so it was a sleepless night. Thankfully day two was better. Front desk staff were not the most hospitable. But this was a very inexpensive hotel so I suppose I can’t complain too much; you get what you pay for.

The property was easy to get around and I liked the tropical theme. The receptionist were not welcoming and literally no one out of the three of them were smiling. The phone in the room was broken and did not work. The bed was uncomfortable due to it being concave in the middle and you were sinking in. It’s probably a good idea to buy a new mattress. Overall the swim area was nice and the bartender Sierra was welcoming and pleasant.

What a special place. The property feels as if it’s a world away, secluded and quiet yet close to everything San Diego has to offer. The grounds are impeccable and great for families with kids of all ages. To top off the unique location and vibe, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Everyone we met was kind and helpful. This place is, no joke, very special and truly one-of-a-kind

The front desk staff is just amazing, super friendly and super helpful The pool is beautiful. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are perfect. We did not want to leave. And we can’t wait to come back.

Great location, great rooms it was 4/5 almost perfect. We had an jr suite and it was big enough for family to visit for dinner and nice views. Our room was next to the staff area so it got loud at times early or late. Nice people just where we got located and the doors would slam. Would also be nice if they offered room service. You can only order food for pick up at the restaurant.

Pool, location, and property are very nice. There is a real lack of amenities included in the price especially since they charge an extra $20 per day for imaginary perks. No free breakfast, no courtesy coffee in the lobby, another $20 per night for parking, and everything is way overpriced in the onsite restaurant. I would stay at the resort next door if we visit again.

We had a very nice view of the bay just wish we had been there for the Friday concert because we would have had a great view of it from our balcony. The pool is 9 ft deep which is not usual and this is great. It is Polynesian style and makes you feel like you are on a secluded island far away. the restaurant also has an amazing view of the bay and the food is great

This place was a hidden gem for us. We enjoyed this hotel on Shelter Island and will definitely make a return visit. The staff as friendly & attentive, the food was great and the pool bar staff did an awesome job!

From check in to check out, everything at Humphrey’s was great. Very nice and efficient staff, beautiful grounds, excellent location. Their restaurant is wonderful and there are other places to dine within walking distance. The pool area was clean and fresh towels were always available. We will definitely go back.
