Parking was slightly inconvenient (10 min walk away, charged per hour (but hotel gave voucher for discount)). Staff was super friendly and helpful. Location was right on the Royal Mile, 10 walk (at most) to Edinburgh Castle! Right next to a Starbucks and a delicious bakery, too. Fire alarm went off at 11:45pm the night before we had to wake up early to leave, so that was annoying, but not the hotel's fault. They did what they could to get us back inside as quickly as possible when safe.

Everything was very nice, but we were driving a rental car and would have appreciated a better description on the website description about the lack of nearby parking and the difficulty of even dropping off luggage nearby.

Close to everything. Clean. They state that they had air conditioning but it only pushed air around. Small rooms, not much area to move around. Restaurant next door was awesome with good entertainment every night.

Shower drain was blocked. After 2 minutes water overflowed shallow tray into bathroom . Why no toilet brush? I had to use toilet tissue to clean the bowl. Regards Hugh Dorrington

I would avoid this hotel at all costs. Having spent the previous night in another local hotel that only cost £30 more I found the Ibis very over priced. It’s shabby and run down. My sink didn’t drain properly and smelt as a result. The sheets a scratchy and the staff seem disinterested.

Excellent location, good comfortable room, clean room, dog friendly, nice modern look spaces and great breakfast. The only bad comment is the carpets in corridors, bedroom and dinning area are all very dirty.

You pay for location. It is perfect for conveniently seeing the Royal Mile. However, the hotel is way overpriced and poor. We booked months in advance to receive a small room by the kitchen. The room was dirty and had no sound protection. The bed was a Matt on a box spring. Super disappointed in this location.

This hotel location was fine. The room was very small and kind of felt cheaply outfitted. The shower drain was clogged on my first day and maintenance had to come repair it. The breakfast was pretty good tho. I was hearing street noise up until 2:30 a.m. so that was not good. I would choose another location if I was going back to Edinburgh.

Close to Royal Mile. Rooms are small and depending on the room, corner rooms on inside of building have poor ventilation. Though a fan is supplied and the window opens slightly, there is no airflow but this is typical of most places in UK. Don’t think they know what HVAC is there.

There were two negatives with our stay. 1. The room I stayed in faced the street entrance and was extremely noisy until late at night. 2. The room was very warm in the afternoon and evening. The windows would not open in the room fan unit was insufficient. To move the air. You either need to provide a large fan or make it possible to open the window for cool fresh air.

The location is faultless, it’s very convenient to get to the hotel on foot from the station and it’s very central however the room was very dark even when all the lights were on and it was hot as balls. We had to have a mini fan running all night as well as a window being open because you can’t change the climate control in the room. We think it may just be our room potentially as it was near the plumbing room which also was hot when you walked past. I would stay in the hotel again if those issues were fixed or potentially just in a different room that wasn’t hotter then the depths of hell.

Given the location, I knew the room would be small, but it was much smaller then expected. Very little storage. The bathroom is very small and the toilet is inches from the wall. Not easy to use. Also, the parking garage is a good 1/4 mile away down and inconvenient..

We arrived to find out they had overbooked the hotel (aka gave our room to someone else). They offered to send us to another hotel across town however this was not something we could do. They eventually put us in a room with a tiny twin bed and the room was also much smaller than the one we had paid for. They refused to provide any compensation for the downgrade in room. They did not show any empathy.

Management is quick to point out that I booked on Hotels.com website and should have booked through the Accor website., to which I didn't even know they were part of the Accor group. Not a huge fan of the Ibis group, however this hotel was situated well in distance to the Castle and we did have an elderly person in our group. Rooms were small, basic yet beds and pillows were comfortable. The one male manager (?) upon check in didn't present himself well.. a bit challenging and constantly highlighted the downfalls of booking third party, including that I could have had a free upgrade if I booked online. Our room was quite noisy ( Room 102) however we don't mind street noise too much, but kind of felt we were given a more noisy room on purpose. Breakfast was good.

Was amazing, only a couple of little things that i could say were slightly negative. 1st one is the heating, got a little cold in the room and because of the heating setting had to get a portable heater from reception. 2nd one is the tv, as a recommendation i would have more choice of channels to watch. Staff were all absolutely lovely and nothing was a trouble to them.

The only negative was check-in. There were many guests to check-in, and only a couple staff members to handle the crowd. This is a huge hotel with approximately 10 check-in lanes. Not sure why they were not in use.?

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Ibis Hunter Square, and both times have been wonderful. It’s well located and had a friendly staff. The breakfast is not included, but the cost of it is certainly better than you’re going to pay at virtually any restaurant in the area. It’s not the most elaborate breakfast, but certainly works. We also loved their plan of giving you a 5 pound credit if you don’t have your room made up. We used the credits for breakfast and some ice cream at the bar.

The rooms were nice and the hotel was literally a 30 second walk from the royal mile. There is a pub right close to the hotel called the Piper’s Rest that was so much fun. My daughter’s had everything they needed and enjoyed the location. The staff made things very easy for us and arranged taxi pickup for both my girls on different days. Taxi pickup was at the front door.

A good hotel in central Edinburgh. Perfectly placed for all the tourist hotspots. There was a lot of noise at night from the pub next door and windows banging in the wind, but overall we enjoyed our stay here

Rooms could use a little refresh. Having stayed at this hotel a couple of times inthe last 5 years the rooms are looking a little tired. Otherwise the hotel location cannot be beat. Perfect for sightseeing and late nights at the pub since there is three just outside!!

Location, location, location - this hotel has it! It did get a bit noisy at night because it's near everything but the noise wasn't enough to really interfere with sleep/relaxing. I'd definitely stay here again. Nice little coffee shop/bakery next door.

Good option for the terribly expensive time that is Edinburgh during Fringe. Room was absolutely fine, roomy even with a family of three. Only thing that could be improved upon was breakfast - there was little space to sit, sitting was not organised by hotel staff and the food options did not feel very fresh.

The real value is location, otherwise it is Ibis. Very compact room with minimum furniture. Fairly new. Breakfast is ok but scrambled eggs the worst I have seen all around the world.

Excellent stay during the final 2 days after our bus tour os Scotland ended. The breakfast was an excellent value and housekeeping was great. Right in the friggin' middle of the Royal Mile surrounded by everything and just 3 doors away from the Department of Magic escape room and alchemy cocktails mix.
