The Emily Suite was very spacious and the bed was massive, only downside was no hotel breakfast only offer breakfast at Bill's Restaurant which is onsite. However Beefeater is only 10 min drive away offering all you can eat for £10.99

It's a strange set-up, where everything seems to have been sub-contracted to someone else ! So Bills run the restaurant (very well) where you have breakfast. There is no bar as such, but there is a nightclub/caberet right in the middle of the hotel. This isn't ideal, as the customers from here seem to have access to the hotel corridors, which is noisy. However, didn't bother us as we were out quite late and were still happily watching telly until after it closed. But might be an issue to the early sleepers. We went on a Friday night so could just be a weekend thing ? It's very well situated right in the main high street, right in the middle of the shops/pubs/restaurants area, so suited our purpose perfectly. Reception was very pleasant and helpful

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. The hotel is a beautiful hotel which was built in the 1500's. If you have mobility issues, it may not be for you as there is no lift and there are quite a lot of stairs, but it was a lovely building to stay in. The bed was comfy and I was at the top of the building so it was really quiet apart.

Quirky Hotel. Historic. However, it feels somewhat 'unloved'. Parts of the Hotel don't belong to the Hotel itself. For example, the bar is a cabaret/private party venue and the restaurant (Bills) is another business. The private party venue, 'The Fallen Angel' is very noisy, so ensure you request a room a way from that if you want some peace and quiet. The Hotel is a rabbit warren, with a lot of steps to climb if you are in some rooms. We were in 'Lord Byron' room. Lovely and big, a suite on the 3rd floor. 62 steps from the room to reception. 3 or 4 flights of stairs to climb, no lifts. The room itself lacked basic amenities. No wifi, television had very limited channels, only BBC1 and 2. No phone to call front desk or organise a wake up call. No mirrors anywhere except the bathroom, no fridge, limited tea and coffee, water. We had to ask for more. No 'special' touches.. ie, no flowers, fruit, chocolates. The staff were ok, friendly, but fairly ineffective. They just seem to sit on the front desk and do not have much to offer in resolving anything. Felt sorry for the young lugging a massive suitcase up tge stairs on her own, surely a Health & Safety issue? Not sure if we would stay here again. Best thing about this Hotel, is the location.

Fabulous room, we had a suite in the old part of the hotel. There was a separate sitting room, large bedroom with superking four poster. The bathroom was beautiful and very well designed. The room was warm and comfortable. The hotel is situated in central Guildford and it is easy to walk to most venues in the town. The only downside is that the hotel has no parking and although you can park on the street in the evening there is no access during the day for unloading/loading luggage.

I stay regularly at this hotel. The rooms are big and the price is usually good. But the rooms at the back have very patchy internet and even though they have tried to fix this, it’s still not good enough! Also, in former times, the staff offered to carry luggage to the room, which may be up and down very narrow stairs with no lift! That has recently not been the case!

No car park at hotel. Available nearby, but quite expensive.

We have stayed at the angel hotel twice now . The location is very central this time we had a lot of stairs to climb to get to our room . If we stay again we will ask for a room that is more easier for us

Upon selection thru Expedia. Only after booking did I realize there was no parking. Easily remediated once understood . After booking , hotel did supply this in thier check in procedure.

Easy access to G live. The bedroom cleanliness is awful finger prints on most light switches , dirty bathroom particularly the toilet seat, towel rail .

The air con is fake. The TV is not working. The f a u c e t i s l o o s e + l e a k i n g THE SHOWER IS WEAK IN ADDITION, POOR HOUSEKEEPING (FOUND A PIECE OF NAIL CLIPPING FROM PREVOOUS GUEST NEAR THE TOLIET BOWL AFTER TWO DAYS OF HOUSE KEEPING!) Not recommend this hotel, most appliances are nit working. The Only goid thing is the reception man and lady are friendly and nice.

Old and dated - dirty carpet, uneven floors, sofa without springs, bathtub was dangerously slippery as it sloped down, shower head set for short people, VERY NOISY, heavy drapes but no shears so hard manage lighting. This is a listed building so very hard to maintain. Staff and location is great but they cannot overcome the negatives.

The Hotel staff were lovely and very helpful. ..... However the hotel is in desperate need of updating and long over due deep cleaning. The dust and dirt in the room was astonishing for a hotel that says it's 4*. it could be a little gem in the centre Guildford as it's steeped in history. Unfortunately apart from being built in 1527 - it appears some of the dust also dates back that far. The TV remote fell down the back of the bed and the vegetation and dirt under it was gross. Such a shame as it could be lovely.

The rooms could definitely do with a bit of updating, the carpets especially were badly stained

The room was clean (apart from the spiders webs in bathroom!) and comfortable and a property with character. Unfortunately there was a lot of night time noise as there is an alley and courtyard adjacent to hotel and in the morning from 7.30am there was of noise from staff setting the up cafe/restaurant who probably are totally unaware that they can be heard based on the topics. Unfortunately shurting windows wasnt an option due to the heat and with this being a historic building there is no a/c (not that i expected there to be)

Recently had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful hotel. The room was a complimentary upgrade for my birthday and was impeccably clean and well-appointed, offering a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend this hotel. We're be back for sure.

A really old coach house. Beautiful inside and outside. Helpful staff and very clean.

A single night stay on business, I found this little gem in the heart of the town. Check in was friendly and swift, I was escorted to my room and had a very pleasant evening. The building is historic and beautifully presented on the inside. Masses of exposed beams and woodwork reveal the ancient structure of the building, and the decor in the rooms is very much in keeping with the feel of its past. Never before have I slept in a four-poster bed!

The suite was lovely, warm and comfortable. The staff were great and the hotel is dog friendly which was brilliant for us. The only downside was the WiFi barely worked at best and our signals were poor. This meant making plans and looking things up was quite difficult. Lastly - our room was facing a bar called the Fallen Angel. When I say facing - if you opened our door we could see in the bar haha. Personally I had no problems with this however if you wanted to sleep before 12 the volume was too loud. In the daytime there were drag hen parties again not a problem for me. However my friend was very unwell during our stay so she spent an entire day in the room unable to sleep. I do think that is something we should of been made aware of prior to booking at least so you could make the choice or that room in particular should be discounted.

We stayed during midsummer and a heatwave. They had fans for our room but it was still hot, especially at night. This is an historic building and the location just can’t be beat, as the hotel is right on the high street. We walked everywhere and enjoyed the dining and shopping options, although it was a little noisy at night. Our room was serviced daily with free bottled water and replacement coffee pods. There is no parking so you have to use the local long term parking.

Nice hotel located in the heart of the town. Rooms are ok. Could be better but, I would say clean. People are quite friendly. Thanks to them. Lets talk about the worst part whay I rated low. I stayed 6 nights and the last 3 nights I did not have internet and it was still not fixed when I was leaving the hotel. This is not acceptable. I am in a different country and I need internet. I lost connection to my people. No youtube, no netflix. İts like blinking in the dark. Sorry but I had to say this.

Very noisy due to high street location,and 4am delivery to boots!!

We were greeted by friendly receptionist who showed us to our room and assisted with some of our luggage. Our room was very spacious with a 4 poster king size bed, great size bathroom with a bath and great shower. Everything is on your door step! Very comfortable and convenient. Many thanks.

I stay regularly and the experience will depend on which room you are in, each is quite different. All rooms I have started in are huge and plenty of space

Lovely old hotel, right in the centre of Guildford with lots of pubs, restaurants and shops close by. We were disappointed there was no wifi and that the safe in the room did not work and no one was available to fix it.

My stay at Angel hotel was just perfect. Huge room and bath. Good layout and comfortable bed. Thank you for help with my luggage up the stairs. Also very happy I could park my extra big suitcase that I didn’t need for the one night in the reception.

As soon as I walked into the reception, I was greeted to a warm welcome..all of the staff were very kind and friendly..too me they went above and beyond..they made me feel like a super star! The lady on the desk was the kindest and most thoughtful woman. She helped us all the way to our room and was sweet with my boy.

Good accommodation, great location. Neither room of hotel wifi worked and couldn’t find any staff to check out at end of stay.

The people could not have been nicer. They took our baggage early and carried it up to our room three flights. Wonderful with restaurant suggestions and directions. Our king size bed room was lovely. So appreciated sash windows which could be opened up at night to naturally help with cooling the room and airing clothing. Nice to have both a shower and a separate bathtub. Good value for money. Location in the middle of High Street was perfect!

There was no one on reception when I arrived. A mobile number was left to call someone to check you in. The room I had was several floors up and behind a door that had no indication on it as to where it led to. It could have been a cupboard. Rooms were named and not numbered and when I arrived after the hotel should have been closed, luckily there was a receptionist still on duty as I needed her help to find the room! Also had to ask for the WiFi password. No info in the room and no one to check you out. Room was comfortable.

In the Angel Hotel I had a very spacious and comfortable bedroom with a large en-suite, the bed was very comfortable. It is on the historic cobbled High Street with shops and restaurants close by, it is 10 minutes walk to the station. In house restaurant run by Bill’s.

Great location when visiting Guildford, located in the heart of the town. We travelled by train so the parking wasn’t an issue. However there is car parks a short walk away.

Love the feel of this old world style hotel, the suite was just perfect. Great staff. Would have been good if the bar had been open for an extra 30 minutes to allow for that just getting back time to unwind. Would happily stay here again.

Absolutely stunning hotel steeped in history. We stayed in an executive suite and it was beautiful. We had a large bath and a shower. Oh and a four poster bed. The living room was big too. Incredibly friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. We ate breakfast at the attached restaurant and it was delicious. The hotel is located within walking distance of Guildford station and G Live. We can't recommend this hotel high enough, it was wonderful.

Good rooms quiet, nice upgrade, friendly staff, however from a business perspective breakfast was not early enough for my needs

Lovely hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. We were in room 202 it was gorgeous except it was above a restaurant and between a lobby and a cabaret bar. I would not recommend this room on a Friday or Saturday night, as it was too noise to sleep until after midnight and my 7am you could hear the restaurant in the yard below the window. Location is excellent, walking distance of everything. No carpark but we used Just park and booked a local driveway.

I liked the centrality of the hotel, hence booking it. Was disappointed that breakfast was not included in price. Even a basic continental breakfast would have been appreciated.

Fabulous historic hotel; the room was huge for the price with a sitting area and large bathroom with a bath, not just a shower. very quiet room overlooking the alley to the right of the hotel. Short walk to bus station, railway, theatre and in the heart of high street shops. BILL'S can be entered from the hotel for a superb breakfast and also lunch/evening meal. Did not try the cocktail bar (inside the hotel but a separate business) as it was cabaret night.

Beautiful old building sympathetically converted to a hotel. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. The location makes the Angel a perfect stop for a short visit. The added bonus of Bills restaurant in the hotel is ideal. And a very good breakfast. The only negative is the street noise. Businesses in the side lane setting up tables and chairs made a very noises wake up call very early in a morning. Not the best when on a weekend break and wanting to wake up a little later than normal. Over all though can’t fault the hotel. I would definitely stay here again
