We loved our stay and will return but the housekeeping in the rooms needs to improve (barely acceptable), the bed linen is beautiful though. The setting and the rest of the hotel makes it worth it though!

Stayed 1 night

Throughout the night, I was kept awake by the noise from the pub outside. It is clear that the walls and windows of the hotel provide zero sound insulation; it felt as though the music and screaming were happening directly inside my room. When I initially called the reception, I was assured that the noise would stop. When it didnt I went downstairs to speak to the staff. The response from the staff who called himself Abdul, was disgraceful. To be met with such utter disrespect and a total refusal to help when I was clearly distressed is shocking for a so called 4-star establishment. I am not even sure how the hotel in this condition can be a 4 star!! The condition of the room I was given is shambles. While the hotel is marketed on its "character," the room I stayed in was a total ruin that has clearly not been updated in years. The shower did not even work and had been patched together with tape. Charging £100 for a room in this state is a total scam. Because of the noise and the dismissive attitude of your staff, I did not sleep at all.
