Easy access hotel from the A5. Nice to have breakfast included in the price. Looks a little tired in places and a slightly odd 'cleaning' smell but overall a good stop off point. Easy drive to Shrewsbury but no dining options close to the hotel. Hotel evening options very limited.

We stayed here over Christmas 2023 and it was fine - the staff, particularly Isaac, were really good. Friendly, a good laugh and very accommodating. The place itself is an Express so basic but has a bar and food facilities however it is a little bit out of the way on a business park. EV chargers have just been installed in the car park but at time of review (December 2023) aren’t yet activated.

A cheeky last minute booking at a great price including breakfast. It was our first time in the area and this hotel did not disappoint. The check-in was quick and easy, the hardest thing was remembering my car registration for the free parking! The staff were lovely and friendly and helpful too. She informed us about the bar and restaurant opening hours and when the very generous buffet style breakfast would be served in the morning. The room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed and the room had air-conditioning. The shower in the bathroom was nice and hot and powerful too with good sized fluffy towels too. The tea and coffee making facilities in the room were the usual sachets and UHT milk, so not the best, but we knew we'd get a decent proper brew in the morning with our cooked breakfast in the restaurant so that wasn't a problem. The hotel was busy for a Sunday night and even though the carpark is a good size it was still quite full when we returned after an afternoon in Shrewsbury ( which is a lovely place to visit with plenty of character and only a ten-fifteen minute drive away). The restaurant was also very busy at breakfast and all seats were taken when we arrived but thankfully the helpful staff directed us to the lounge area with extra tables and chairs set out as an overflow. The breakfast was varied and plentiful with a choice of cereals, pastries, cakes, fruit and yoghurt and of course the obligatory cooked breakfast too. Num num.

Convenient, just off major routes. Clean, excellent shower, friendly and helpful staff. Sadly, if you want a good meal you need to go out as there are limited options for dining. Breakfast was OK... Ive had better but there I've had a lot worse. Overall, we will stay there again.

Quiet room with good check in and out times. Clean with choice of pillows. Iron and board provided. Excellent breakfast, including take away option. Staff on reception at check in did not tell me to put car registration number into console so am anticipating a fine. Helpful lady at reception this morning told me to call if this happens and they will sort it out.

A little out of the way nestled in a business park, so you need to go out if you want some food - but Shrewsbury is only 10mins away. Normal HIE fare, nice sized room, bathroom could do with a little TLC (discoloured grout, shower holder a bit dodgy) - but nothing to spoil a one night stay. Breakfast was good - plenty of choice

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over many years. It is in an excellent location to access by road. Staff, as on previous visits, were kind and helpful. Regrettably, this time the cleanliness of the room, and the condition of the shower, was not up to the standard of previous visits.

Lovely staff. Room in need of attention. Smelt very damp & musty. All the tiles grout on bathroom floor, needed re-doing, stains on carpet, window was masking taped up, unsafe tv cord which we had changed. Think theyd overbooked rooms as breakfast was crazy, people stood eating next to our table!

All good. Clean room, filling breakfast, friendly helpful staff. Could do with new TVs in the rooms they are very dated now. Also the TV remote in my room (143) didn't work well as the buttons are worn out and the battery cover is missing.

Initial check in was great. Smooth and helpful however the stay went downhill after that. Having driven 4 hours we decided to eat in. Mistake. I ordered the buttermilk chicken burger and my wife the lasagne. When the food arrived I received a beefburger (I don't eat red meat). I returned to the server to explain and she offered to replace with the chicken burger. 20 minutes later it arrived (minus the pulled pork) but by this time my wife had finished eating so both of us ate alone. By way of an apology I was offered a dessert. Unfortunately despite sitting with an empty plate the waitress disappeared. At 5:30 am the rubbish bins were collected from directly under our window. The vehicle reversed, loaded and kept the engine running throughout. When I mentioned all of the above to Reception staff in the morning although, eventually, they agreed to refund the cost of the one meal excluding my drink! I asked whether the hotel was full and was told it wasn't so I asked why we had been given that room as I had booked and paid in advance and had arrived early on the Sunday. Surely there are other twin rooms available? I could see there was nothing else the Receptionist was prepared to do so I asked the hotel manager to contact me to discuss the matter further. As I write this I am still waiting for contact to be made. It's a shame because it could be a good stop off hotel

Soundproofing in room and hotel generally needs vastly improving. I stood in the corridor outside my room and could not only hear people walking above me, but could follow the sound all the way down the upstairs corridor. Stayed in a couple of Wetherspoon hotels recently and couldn’t hear anything from the noise of the pub downstairs. Also the Wetherspoon champs the holiday inn by offering more in room such as more variety of complementary drinks and snacks. Found a mass of cobwebs under the pelmet and by the curtains in my room. One of the lights in the bathroom wasn’t working and neither were most of the USB plugs.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The only criticism I have is that the dinner options weren’t that varied having said that the service was great. I didn’t have to wait long to be served. Also the internet in the room was constantly dropping so had to travel into Telford to attend a work related event.

Very spacious room with twin beds. Very good shower. Breakfast was excellent with wide range of options. Staff were always helpful. Very well situated to get out and about. Shrewsbury has limited parking so it’s useful that there’s a Park and Ride at Meole Brace but it’s not directed properly on satnav. There’s also an extensive out of town shopping area in Meole Brace too.

the place is hard to find. it is an older hotel. the wifi didn't work at all. the electricity was so weak it took all night to recharge our cell phone. it was a cold night and the heat could not be adjusted, so that added to the unpleasantness.

We had a few issues at the hotel my room was not ready due to some technical issue the staff went above and beyond to sort me a room I can not thank them enough they are a great team and I love staying at the hotel A company is measured not by what it does everyday it is measured when something goes wrong. The team sorted the issue straight away and everything was fine I can always recommend this hotel as it has good parking access to the A5 is easy and there will be high speed electric charges soon

It was absolutely fantastic! My room and entire hotel was spotless. A really comfy bed, stunning breakfast and what I loved the most and I'll never forget; was just how amazzZzing the staff were. I honestly cannot thank each and every single one of them enough, so much so that I was sad to leave, because they touched me with how incredibly brilliant they were! Off the scale brilliance that touched my heart and left the best lasting impression! I miss them all already! Nina is lovely and so are her team, so much so that I honestly can't wait now; to stay there again.Ha they can't get rid of me ;)! I feel so truly blessed and lucky to have met them all and I think they are the best. The staff were very friendly and helpful, from check in to check out, the breakfast was very nice, plenty of choice and good quality food. The bed was very comfy and the room was clean ..have no complaints. The hotel itself is not easy to find without the use of a satnav, but being in a quiet location and with the comfy bed a good night’s sleep was guaranteed.

Huge room, nice bar and restaurant areas. All the usual good things you come to expect from Holiday Inn Express which I’ve stayed at for hundred of times. Service at bar shortly after check in was awful and easily the worst example that I’ve experienced in any hotel worldwide in the past 40 years. Won’t go into details here but very poor way to behave indeed and not how HIE usually do things.

Good hotel, good breakfast, good staff but good luck if you can find it! Standard Holiday Inn Express so expect what you pay for, which is good value. Nice quality food at breakfast with regular replenishment. Very difficult to get to from the main road. It sits on an industrial estate away from the town centre which is poorly lit at night with no hotel signage to guide you. The franchisee needs to get at least three signs up from the nearest main road and through the estate. Caused an irritation to an otherwise pleasant stay.

It’s a good 45 minutes walk to town, or a taxi service is available. Staff were friendly. Only issue it was in the middle of a business park. Although was still quiet and peaceful. Would go again.

breakfast was a disaster, items not stocked at same time, so no bacon and by time bacon came no eggs and by time eggs came no beans:( very poor. the apple juice was also not working. worst bit about our stay was that I booked a quad room for myself and children ages 18, 16 and 12. We were given a room for 3! Went back to reception and told that this is a quad room! That they get complaints all the time as there is just one very big bed and a sofa bed! That is not suitable at all for 3 fully grown women. it resulted in a dreadful nights sleep. Also I question completely that it is a quad room since we only had 3 cups, 3 glasses, 3 towels, we had to go to reception to ask for more. utter disgraceful.

A cheeky last minute booking at a great price including breakfast. It was our first time in the area and this hotel did not disappoint. The check-in was quick and easy, the hardest thing was remembering my car registration for the free parking! The staff were lovely and friendly and helpful too. She informed us about the bar and restaurant opening hours and when the very generous buffet style breakfast would be served in the morning. The room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed and the room had air-conditioning. The shower in the bathroom was nice and hot and powerful too with good sized fluffy towels too. The tea and coffee making facilities in the room were the usual sachets and UHT milk, so not the best, but we knew we'd get a decent proper brew in the morning with our cooked breakfast in the restaurant so that wasn't a problem. The hotel was busy for a Sunday night and even though the carpark is a good size it was still quite full when we returned after an afternoon in Shrewsbury ( which is a lovely place to visit with plenty of character and only a ten-fifteen minute drive away). The restaurant was also very busy at breakfast and all seats were taken when we arrived but thankfully the helpful staff directed us to the lounge area with extra tables and chairs set out as an overflow. The breakfast was varied and plentiful with a choice of cereals, pastries, cakes, fruit and yoghurt and of course the obligatory cooked breakfast too. Num num.

Arrived and was given a room which had not been serviced or cleaned. The staff at reception very quickly found us an alternative room. Dinner meals were overcooked with a burger that could not even be cut through and very hard chips. Breakfast was good.

Overnight stay after a day at the race's, needed somewhere reasonably priced and this fit the bill. Overall hotel was good, and suited our 1 night stay but wouldn't stay here for any longer, nothing around the area without having to pay for a taxi into town which if you wanted a decent drink you would have had to do as the selection of alcoholic drinks at hotel bar was very minimal. Breakfast was okay but not much choice, ideal if you can eat fried food but for someone who can't you are very limited in what you could have. Also during our stay there was no internet access for any guests, all anyone got told by staff was that it was down and could come back on anytime. I find it hard to believe that even up to us leaving the following morning there was still no Internet available. Should I find myself needing accommodation in the area in future I would look elsewhere before even thinking about booking this hotel.

We came to Shrewsbury to travel by train to Cardiff to go to see a rugby match. The Holiday Express was a perfect location. The staff were friendly, the bar and small restaurant were adequate - we had a light evening meal which was good. We stayed 2 nights, the room and bed were very comfortable and the breakfasts were absolutely superb - the best we have had in any hotel. It was also very quiet and safe to leave our car.

The size of the shower cubicle was brilliant, and a small seat to sit on. The room blacked out nicely. The air conditioning didn't seem to work. Worst thing was that when I sat down to my cereal and fruit with yoghurt I found a hair in it that was too long to be mine and was blond, I'm grey! Put me off that completely. Also the tea counter was empty of decaf tea and there was none available from the store. I'm completely decaf. Fortunately I have my own supply, but stock levels should be checked.
