The Alexandra itself is not indulgent, but clean and very functional. Staff were very helpful and the property is in an excellent location. However, a vehicle in the parking lot (not ours) had the rear window smashed in with a brick. So, I would advise ensuring your car is empty and locked.

The room was very simple and clean. The front staff were both very friendly. There were lots of cameras set up front to ease the worry of the people hanging around outside at all times of day. The surrounding area downtown was easily assessable. Lots of fun stuff to do near by. We were in the city for a concert so this was a good place to stay as everything was close.

Staff were courteous, parking was easy. Our floor was quiet. This is definitely a case of, “you get what you pay for”. Very run down overall, but clean in appearance. Bed was comfortable. Room was scorching hot even with the heat turned off. Bathroom door didn’t close, which was funny if anything. The location worked for the purposes of my trip, but overall not somewhere I would stay for a cozy, relaxing time.

Friendly staff, easy walking distance to shops, cafe's, etc. Easy to drive to, and has a small parking lot on-site for $15/d. Comfy bed, and small kitchen space if you're self-catering. Reception is not obvious at first glance, it has a separate exterior door with a buzzer.

Have stayed here quite a few times in the past, and it's always been a decent cheaper option. This time I was put on the sixth floor, elevators had been broken for at least a week and wouldn't be fixed for at least a few more days. Did not sleep much as there was a lot of noise in the room next door between 3 and 4 am, tried calling down to lobby to complain, nobody answered. Did not feel like trudging down 6 flights to perhaps encounter an empty office, despite having been told it was staffed all night. So a disappointing one-night stay, whose price did not reflect the hotel's reduced circumstances. Probably won't be back.

It's an old hotel. They give out keys, not card keys, not a big deal, but you cant keep keys in your wallet. The AC was covered in about 2 inches of dust. It wasn't great, but it got the job done, at a much cheaper price than surrounding hotels. For a quick weekend, it worked. For a longer stay, maybe look elsewhere.

The room was good. Handy kitchenette. Clean. Good location. Guests should understand that 5 of the 6 floors are rented by the city to accommodate homeless women. Not a problem for me but some of the homeless people were loitering in the first floor area, which is itself a bit shabby. The arrangement produces a vibe that some may not be comfortable with. 6th floor is more of a standard hotel.

This is a barebones hotel, but very inexpensive compared to anything else in the area. Staff are very friendly and the room was clean. We just wanted a place to sleep that was within walking distance to things we wanted to do. This fit the bill. The area isn't that bad, but there are a lot of homeless people that hang out in the parking lot- no one bothered us though. My only real complaint is that this is a non-smoking hotel and we could smell smoke and week everywhere.

This place is a Shelter not a Hotel. An actual operating shelter. We could smell cigarettes smoking in the room. Someone was yelling in the hallway very early in the morning. You can feel the springs in the mattress of the bed. Homeless people were camped at the front door talking about robbing someone. You need to press a buzzer to get in the main office to check in. I feel it is falsely advertised. I didn’t realize it was an operating shelter till I had checked in. I tried to get a refund on my room booking but couldn’t get any money back for the first night. I don’t recommend to anyone.

Property is essential a converted apartment building, room looks like it used to be a studio apartment. Room was clean, has a small kitchenette (complete with dishware). Area is a residential area next to a park that is currently closed off just off a busy main street. Not the cleanest area and just gave off a vibe. However, it's close to shopping and dining as well as transit (it's between Dundas and Queen). Would stay here again.

Alexandra hotel is just off Queen street in an older part of the city. Accordingly, the hotel is an older style. On the plus side, service was very good and the unit was reasonably clean. However, it is a picture out of the 70's and appears not to have been renovated ever since. Air conditioner is very noisy and opening the windows invites the noise of the city in... it goes all night long... The kitchenette is functional, but the very old style fridge with interior freezer compartment froze our fruit and vegetables and so storing fresh items was not an option. Overall, a mixed experience.

This is more than a hotel, it's also some kind of refuge with sometimes rough looking folks. While some people may be scared to stay in such a place, we were in and out of the place at times of the day and night and it was safe when we were there. This hotel just felt how I felt Toronto was. Looks rough but is nice. The hotel staff is beyond nice, the hotel is near enough to the city centre for that to be its second best asset. The rooms could do with some TLC, sometimes you can smell some fait scent of cigarette coming from the vent and the A/C is very loud but it's a fairly neutral sound. One of the things that make the hotel very attractive is its price. And I think the location/prica ratio was pretty much the best when we booked for what we needed to do in Toronto.

Very friendly front desk staff. Morning coffee, best. The lady at the desk was so informative and shared a city map, she took time to circle special points of interest and how to take public transportation. Felt very safe and room was warm and showers were nice and hot.

I was told I would get my deposit right when I checked out. Then I was to 2-3 hours. Then after 3 hours no deposit so I called back and was told wait another 3 hours. Woke up next day no deposit. Called again and was told it was gonna be another 3 hours and that they would call me back. Then When I got a call back they said 7-10 business days. Horrible service staff don’t know what they are talking about.

Look unsafe at first glance due to graffiti. But was actually safe, bohemian. Helpful staff. Property has a public program to help the homeless, but they present no problem. Lots of pubic transportation to everywhere, comes every 2 or 3 minutes. Walkable to lots of affordable restaurants nearby. Basic and very clean. In room dishes, microwave, fridge. Laundry room and elevator in site. Beware of very hot, irratic water in shower, takes time to figure it out. Very quiet. Good value. Cyclone fence is to protect elementary school kids from straying into traffic. After school hours school’s grassy field is for dog park. Not a place for visitors looking for big chain hotels and inns. Would definitely stay there again! Kunel, Steve and Sara at the 24 hour front desk are friendly, helpful, good people. All doors are secure, including the front desk.

Have stayed here quite a few times in the past, and it's always been a decent cheaper option. This time I was put on the sixth floor, elevators had been broken for at least a week and wouldn't be fixed for at least a few more days. Did not sleep much as there was a lot of noise in the room next door between 3 and 4 am, tried calling down to lobby to complain, nobody answered. Did not feel like trudging down 6 flights to perhaps encounter an empty office, despite having been told it was staffed all night. So a disappointing one-night stay, whose price did not reflect the hotel's reduced circumstances. Probably won't be back.

Para un viaje con niños no es recomendable. Si bien es un hotel muy cercano para el acuario y la torre CN 15 a 20 min caminando paso de niño 25 min. Los alrededores no son bonitos. A la esquina del hotel habian muchos itinérantes y personas muy drogadas , para los niños no da buena imagen. Pero si van solos o entre amigos y no les interesa eso , va bien. Al interior todo basico pero limpio. El personal amable.

The room was good. Handy kitchenette. Clean. Good location. Guests should understand that 5 of the 6 floors are rented by the city to accommodate homeless women. Not a problem for me but some of the homeless people were loitering in the first floor area, which is itself a bit shabby. The arrangement produces a vibe that some may not be comfortable with. 6th floor is more of a standard hotel.

This place is a homeless shelter. Do not book here. This place should not be available on Expedia. Very dangerous. We pulled into the parking lot and at least 10 drug addicts in parking lot going in and out of the Alexandra hotel.

This is a barebones hotel, but very inexpensive compared to anything else in the area. Staff are very friendly and the room was clean. We just wanted a place to sleep that was within walking distance to things we wanted to do. This fit the bill. The area isn't that bad, but there are a lot of homeless people that hang out in the parking lot- no one bothered us though. My only real complaint is that this is a non-smoking hotel and we could smell smoke and week everywhere.

Truthfully it’s not in the best of neighborhoods. However it was a 20min walk to Roger’s Ctr , Cn tower & Ripleys Aquarium. Close to grocerie & clothing stores. Nice walk to pubs, restaurants & dessert places. Overall was a nice experience with my kids. We didn’t feel threatened by ppl along the property, just if you’re not used to that atmosphere you may feel u easy. The property itself could use a bit of renovations, but for a quick stay for concerts etc it was perfect!

Very friendly front desk staff. Morning coffee, best. The lady at the desk was so informative and shared a city map, she took time to circle special points of interest and how to take public transportation. Felt very safe and room was warm and showers were nice and hot.

Friendly staff, easy walking distance to shops, cafe's, etc. Easy to drive to, and has a small parking lot on-site for $15/d. Comfy bed, and small kitchen space if you're self-catering. Reception is not obvious at first glance, it has a separate exterior door with a buzzer.

Hotel has been renovated since we last stayed here. As budget hotels go it is very good- convenient to Queen st, Bathurst and Dundas to the north. Plenty of local eateries, but you also get a kitchen in your room if you want to cook!

The hotel is 2 blocks away from a great Loblaws with a Winners in the upstairs for shoppers. One half hour walk to Rogers Centre with great restaurants along the way. Coffee pot provided when you ask, just bring a few filters. Square bottom. Vront desk very helpful and friendly. Rates were high but TO is very expensive everywhere. $35 tourist tax will be added to your bill. Good little hotel in a great location.

This hotel is in Old downtown. The neighborhood is shady although there were no problems. It did not feel safe enough to walk around especially in the evenings. We ubered. This appears to be a halfway home for recovering addicts.

Upon arrival it was noted the building is not as advertised. We would base it as a shelter at best. No one answered the bell for check in and we choose to just leave rather then even try to stay there. Buyer beware!
