The Hotel internet was non existant, I refused to work or even allow me to connect with either my phone or my laptop. I reported it to be told as laptops are seen as unsafe, its designed to not allow a laptop to connect, eh? What does a business travel then do? I was there on business and got zero work done due to this problem, waste of money and travelling time.

For £185 I expected a very nice room, what I did get was a room with no ceiling light, table lamps where only one worked and then only after the staff wiggled a cable, a window that doesn't fully seal because it's 100 years old and secondary glazing on only half the window, no electrical sockets by the bed so my phone is across the other side of the room, no complementary Wi-Fi you have to pay extra, very very poor.

The building itself is a bit tired now but the location is excellent. I had checked in online so was expecting to just pick up my keys as the email stated, however it still somehow took about 10 minutes to check in. Early luggage storage before check in was very well run though and a member of staff waited at the door while we found a place for our bags so I felt they were secure. Would stay again for the great location, 5 minutes walk from Central Station.

Huge room. Clean and cozy. Big screen TV. Kettle and tea and coffee facilities provided. Large en-suite. Sadly only one elevator operational which meant a long wait as it struggled to cope with the demands of six floors of guests and room service movements. Better and quicker to use stairs at least for downward trips 8-)

The hotel was okay. We weren’t fussed about the rooms being outdated. We actually kinda liked it. We waited to check in even though we did the online check in prior and then the hot water wasn’t working in our room. We were given a different room which was fine. Our key didn’t work the following day though so we had to go back downstairs and have it fixed. As the rooms aren’t exactly the easiest to get to due to the extensively long hallways it was a bit annoying. It wasn’t unpleasant, just inconvenient. The staff were lovely and helpful though and the location fantastic. The listing does say it has laundry facilities and they actually no longer do so please don’t plan to do your laundry here.

The property is under going a massive refurb to the bedrooms although we was very close to the workmen we didn't hear a thing, and the work men where very courteous, thankfully the main building is being left to its very ornate and beautiful surroundings, the breakfast deal is amazing, breakfast was good but the coffee was a bit of a let down but Mackie's is just across the road so no problem, all in all I love staying staff are great.

A lovely period hotel. Much more character than modern ones. Only problems it could do with a bit of updating, dirty towels in the cupboard and no mirror in the bathroom. However the staff rectified the dirty towels within 10mins and a mirror had been fitted by lunchtime. Breakfast was excellent, good choice from the buffet, full English or continental or both. Car parking next door for £13/day in the city centre thats great value.

Bath tub the enamel was damaged and the tub looked black dirty. The bathroom itself requires sprucing up like fresh sealant, rerouting the tiles etc. staff was nice just need to get some maintenance done around the hotel

From the queues at reception to check in. The small tired room. The non opening window. The grunt at breakfast from the waitress. The poor food on offer in the morning. The price was far too high for such low quality. In all a very substandard stay. Will definitely not go again.

While from the outside the property was very grand and a lot of the common areas were amazing, the overall experience was terrible. There were empty takeaway containers left on the stairs, black mold in the bathrooms and a general smell of damp in the rooms. The only bright spots were the staff friendly and helpful.

A grand old building in the centre of Liverpool. It really needs updating, there was a weird smell in the halls and the room, the carpets are grubby, the windows and sill were dirty, lumps were taken out of the paint work. A real pity.

Liked the history and what could be seen of it's former grandeur. Unfortunately their were too few staff and most of those were young and inexperienced. The rooms were not clean, especially the bathroom and although we were staying 2 nights our room was not serviced and we had to ask for fresh towels at reception.

Room was extremely moldy, black mold all over the windows and ceilings. Totally disgusting. The hotel manager said he would give us a full refund, and then never did. Do not stay here.

You can see this hotel was a place to be in its day but it has had its day! Needs a really good clean from top to bottom. Avoid floor 6, draughty windows, first and secondary glazing, meaning the wind and noise comes in. Barely warm radiator which only comes on for part of the day leaving the room cold. Way too expensive for the room I got!! Bedding was clean though and housekeeping did give me an extra duvet to keep warm. Didn’t want to feel like I was staying there when the hotel was built though! Just too cold and grubby for me.

This must be, by a long shot, the worst and dirtiest hotel that I have had the misfortune to stay at. On entry you could smell the foosty smell of dampness and it was clearly obvious that it was a good generation since the indoors and outdoors had a lick of paint. The room continued on this vein and to ensure no bed bug bites, I slept on top of the sheets and did not dare to pull them over me. The window in the room neaded a sander not a chamois to clean it, such was the dirt stuck to it. The drinks in the bar were cheap but you had to fight off the flies and the fruit flies.Same goes for the loos in the reception area. To be honest I would not even put refugees in this hotel.!!! This hotel is living on its past history and it needs shut down and renovated over a period of two years or even bull dozed.

The foyer was lovely and exactly as expected but the towel rail in our bathroom was on full blast 24/7 making the bathroom incredibly uncomfortable to be in considering it was a very warm weekend and one of the armchairs in the bedroom had a broken arm and you had to be really careful when sat in it. The room could use a fresh coat of paint.

Good sized rooms, beds comfortable and bathroom spacious. Could do with a mirror in the bathroom though. The towel rail couldn't be turned off and was far too hot. Could do with air con. Having said that, we had a wonderful few days and would definitely return again.

Room was very spacious and comfortable,however the water in the walk in shower cubicle took an eternity to drain and had to keep turning the shower off or it would have spilled over the lip and flooded the whole toilet.Mentioned it to the staff at the reception desk but said the whole floor would have to be taken up to repair that,but could offer us another room but not necessary the same space.We managed as we liked the location of the room ( first floor) and just put loads of towels down on shower / toilet floor in case it spileed over but not an ideal compromise.Also lots of foreign people hanging round and sitting on the steps at the entrance to the hotel drinking bottles of beer lager vodka, you name it and smoking cannibis,especially late at night, and none of the staff be it reception staff or security staff for that matter seemed remotely interested in trying to move them on.I appreciate refugee and homeless people are a world wide problem not just to Liverpool in 2025 but i didnt see the same amount of drug using alchaolic people sitting outside any other hotels as much as ours.Needless to say as a regular visitor to Liverpool(30 years and counting) my wife and i will not be returning to the Adelphi any time soon,which is a SHAME as the history of the place is amazing.

The only thing i am disappointed about is being charged twice for my stay i paid Britannia Hotel Link i was sent and charged again when i arrived at the hotel which i have spoke to the Supervisor about this and sent an email to to there reception inbox and he has said he will sort this on Monday hopefully just its disappointing that the systems don't update each other when a payment is made.

The hotel charged us twice and it took weeks to get our money back. The reception didn’t answer the phone to either us or hotels.com team for weeks to sort the issue. The staff were friendly and the room was clean, the location is great but the hotel is very dated (albeit with huge potential). It needs a major revamp.

After checking in online we still had to wait in a queue for 40 minutes to check in again. When we got to the room both our keys didn’t work so had to go back to reception to get keys sorted. One of the staff was quite rude telling me to move away from the desk. When we got into the room it was very tired and dated with no storage at all and not even any hooks in the bathroom or bedroom. The tv was positioned in front of the mirror and there were no spare pillows. It was a hot night and with no air con, we had a desk fan which was very noisy. I have stayed before but don’t think will be staying again

Love the hotel its self but staff not helpful and I'll be putting a complaint in . I was with my son who has cerebral palsy and autism and i had a wheelchair with loads of bags on Firstly when i checked in i had to wait like a year cause there was only 1 member of staff on , i then said i didnt like lifts so where are the stairs to be told " over there " so then i couldnt find them , I'd left the chair downstairs and carried my bags but wasn't given any assistance , ended up coming home the same day so lost my money

I was impressed with the man who checked me in. He must have been feeling stressed as there were long queues of people wanting to check in at the same time. He never lost his cool. He was still able to make us feel welcome.

I recently stayed at the Britannia Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The condition of the hotel did not meet expectations, with several areas appearing outdated and in need of maintenance. Customer service was below standard, and there were issues that impacted the overall comfort of the stay. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel to others.

Massive queues at check in. Stretched out the main door. We went for a drink instead came back an hour later still long queues ((what’s the point of express check in) hotel staff are always friendly. Been here loads of times cos it’s cheapest place, always clean and adequate for a night in Liverpool. The bathrooms are being upgraded , second time we’ve been with no mirror in the bathroom or room.

I know it was central which is what we were looking for but there were vagrants all over the place around the main doors all day long that is quite intimidating a lot of noise in the corridor at one time we thought they were going to try and get into our room im guessing they were drunk they said the car park came with the hotel and for what i paid for it i though it would have done that cost another £24 on top of the room then the breakfast was another £14 each if we wanted it that was per day so i found it very expensive for somewhere in Liverpool that has vagrant out side asking people for money all day long

Pretty sure the mattress was as old as the building. While located very centrally it is dirty and a bit sketchy around the hotel. Staff wasn’t very nice or helpful but they were there. We ended up here after our other booking fell through. I’d only recommend a night or two here

Completely false advertising online, the hotel is extremely run down, very poor service and very slow. The rooms are awful, we had 2 guest rooms and one of the two had the ceiling falling down in the corner should not be fit for sleeping in, the window in the other room was jammed open, as if it’s been open 10 years and never closed Extremely overpriced considering the state of the hotel, I do not recommend staying here, for £170 a night you can find somewhere much better Beds uncomfortable, only offer you 1 pillow, no plug sockets next to the beds for phone chargers, lamps in the rooms and no ceiling lights, one of the lamps didn’t even work as the bulb was blown, won’t be returning, Not much breakfast Choice considering the price of rooms, the juices tasted horrible and milk had a bad twang to it, never again

I checked in and the receptionist did not explain where the bar or restaurant was. I had paid extra for breakfast £12 per day. But the receptionist twice said I had a free breakfast with my stay.The whole hotel is dated but starting to undergo refurbishment of the rooms. The room was clean albeit the carpet was stained. The water took about 5 mins to warm up and on the second day only got like warm. Breakfast was terrible for me. I only drink herbal tea as I don’t drink milk. There was no alternative to breakfast tea or coffee. There was no alternative to dairy milk. Not even an offer of buying a £1 carton for me. There was no vegetarian non dairy option on offer. I did not eat there the second day and asked for my breakfast order to be cancelled. I would not stay again.

Hotel is located really well to access the tourist spots with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. However - this was needed as our room was very tatty , with plaster falling from the wall under the window, drawers that didn’t close and a dirty carpet - so we spent as little time as possible in there. Entrance could do with a good clean up too as this immediately gives the impression that things are not as grand as they seem. The American bar is lovely though and was a nice area to relax before or after going out . Disappointed to find the only food option was breakfast as the restaurant was closed after this on the days we were there too so had to find alternatives in the horrific weather .
