Hotel Lily

The hotel was in a good location near the tube station and the on-site parking was very convenient. Staff were also very helpful. However, the noise outside was loud even into the early hours on the main road side with our window unable to close properly. Also, the bathroom needed some attention with a missing flush button on toilet, loose bath panelling and no plug on the sink. Fire alarms also went off more than once in the early hours which reception said was usually other guests smoking in their room. Overall, though the stay was ok for what we required.

I have stayed at Hotel Lily many times since the days when the Earls Court exhibition centre was at its busiest. The exhibition centre has long gone but Hotel Lily remains. It has always been legendary in its simplicity and grubbiness. It has appeal for a good location, a Tetris style car park and zero frills. It used to have a good basic breakfast and the car park was free to hotel users. There is no breakfast and the car park needs paying for (about £24 for a day). Don’t get me wrong we like Hotel Lily, but don’t book here and criticise the tired rooms. The bed and toilet were clean so there is some basic facilities. There was coffee sachets, milk and teabags (no kettle) and two small bars of soap (no shower gel or shampoo). Best of all there was a bath. All in all it is a gem that locals know of, which may one day get a fabulous clean and refurb. For now appreciate it is cheap and okay for a one night stay. No space to swing a cat, but fortunately cats are not allowed.

The only good to say is about the location, good connection by bus, 15 minutes to Natural History Museum and others. The hotel is old, dirty walls, carpets, and beds with mattress in bad condition. The toilet had rusty bath, broken tiles and a hole in the wall. Two lifts, but one out of order and the other one with sticky paper in a couple of buttons. We will not recomend, because is not expensive but it is a not memorable at all.

It was cheap and felt like it. If you are looking for something one step up from a hostel then this is ideal for you. One of the lifts was broken, the other was so small i barely fit in with a single bag of luggage

The elevator only goes to the 3rd floor, but there are 4 floors, the street has constant sirens going up and down, there was no phone, the smoke detector wasn’t attached to the ceiling, the kettle didn’t turn off without being unplugged, there was no water pressure, and there was no shower curtain.

Very conveniently located near the train station (2 minute walk away). The elevator could only fit two people and wasn’t working. One was out of order and the other stopped working on the last day. Our door would only close if we slammed it and the bathroom was covered in mould. The staff were lovely and helpful however I’m assuming it was the hotel manager wasn’t very kind to them

Lifts were filthy. Rooms old and worn and not the cleanest. Although it had tea and coffee and a cup . The room had no kettle . Tv had no remote . Outside and reception looks nice but once you enter the lifts it’s a different story .

Let's start this review with the good parts, you get a room. Now onto the rest of it. This review is purely based on what we experienced in common areas and our room '203' which was a twin room. 1) One of the elevators was out of order, and the other was so small you would be able to fit 2 people max without luggage 2) Didn't take the elevator cause of point 1 so walked the stairs to the 2nd floor, and the stairwell smelt incredibly fusty, like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. 3) Got to the room which had a tiny bathroom, covered in black mould with the toilet seat incredibly loose such that when I sat down on it without knowing this, I almost fell off. 4) Poorly kept room with stains on the wall, areas that need filling, a broken mirror with stickers on it, and a broken window. There is also no bin in the room, so if you were to have a drink, or snacks then good luck finding somewhere to put the rubbish after. 5) Terrible mattresses such that when I laid down on it there was no support, and with it having a metal frame underneath, I felt the entire bed frame all night. The other bed was better, but same situation with the mattress, was just lucky it was on a divan base. Needless to say, I will never stay here again, and would not recommend to anyone. But, think it will look good when it's finished.

Did not have a remote control for TV, but was able to get one without a back, and had to sometimes push the battery in. It also would not turn off the TV, but we could turn it off manually. One of the elevators did not go to the 3rd floor, but we did not know until we were in it that it did not go to floor 3. Third floor was littered with items for construction along hall wall. Your shower curtain needs to be moved closer to the ground to prevent water from leaking onto the floor.

Mould on all appliances, did not look same as photos, plastic bag over smoke alarm and walls covered in smoke damage from previous guests smoking in the room, tampon found on floor in room, so bad that we left 15 mins after we arrived, should close down it was that bad

Shockingly dirty

I have rarely encountered such a filthy, bug ridden and disgustingly unpleasant place as this. The dirt was staggering. The shower was broken The staff didn’t give a damn The place smelled of stale smoke and takeaways Clear evidence of rats

The hallways are absolutely filthy with mouldering towels, garbage, and odors. There was a discarded a water bottle partially filled with what I’m assuming was urine that sat in the corner of one hallway all week. The walls are paper thin, 1/2 the light don’t work and there is not hotel safe in the room which believe me you would want one. Staff was nice enough and area was convenient but facility felt like a flop house.

It was not very pleasant waking up to a mouse in the hotel room. Staff seemed concerned about this but just shows the state of the hotel.

I used to be a travel writer and have been to hotels all over the world - Africa, Asia, etc. This one is an utter disgrace - how you can promote this on your website I do not know. You should hang your heads in shame. Filthy, dilapidated, no services, old beer cans in the room, the shower was like a fine drizzle on a murky Monday in January. An utter disgrace.

BED BUGS!! Do not book this hotel for your stay - staff is so unprofessional, the building is so run down, bathroom shower was broken, and the bed bugs that bit me everywhere!!! The only positive point is the location with the metro station a couple mins walk down the road!

When we arrived they gave us a riom that had nit been cleaned. After complaining we were put in another room. This room wasn't great either. There is mold in the bathroom and in the vent, the bath had nit been cleaned , there is marks all over the walls and we kept finding hair everywhere. Needless to say, we are very disappointed with our stay.

Photos on hotel website were definitely taken a few years ago. Expensive room rate for the condition of the rooms. The reception area looked ok, easy check in, very polite staff. The rooms are very compact with a vinyl flooring (which I don’t mind) but was very dusty, I understand the need to easily clean between the days. The window latches didn’t fit properly so couldn’t secure the window and we were at the back of the building wi to a fence close by to window. The room was so warm with no fan or air on. Bed was fairly comfy but because it’s pushed into a corner access is only on one side which is a pain with two to get in. The bathroom is very dated, shower was difficult to get the water temp right as the taps only turned on a little bit. No ventilation in the bathroom despite a vent on a wall. Toilet seat was loose. It looks very tired and damaged where things have been changed but looks like rooms have been altered to create more rooms. We booked for 2 adults and had the right amount of bath towels but no hand towel. Only 1 cup and 1 glass. It was in a good location for the tubes in to Hyde park etc

Situated not far from earls court which was a plus. Comfortable bed. Bathroom is not in great shape. Loose racks and looks dirty. The heater would not adjust so it was so hot in the room. The windows had to be open and it was quite noisy from the street late at night and construction early in the morning even on the weekend. I might choose the area again but not this hotel.

Room very small, not overly clean or in good condition, bed has seen better days, huge crater in middle. No hangers in wardrobe. Only one double socket. No spoons.

The shower was freezing and when we checked out I told them and they said, we know the whole hotel boiler was gone and is on now, I said it does not help we have left now. Not very sorry and very unclean.

Unfortunately this stay left a lot to be desired. After check in arrived on our floor to be confronted by a mountain of towels, that didn’t move. The corridors were tatty, dirty and incredibly hot. The room itself had a double bed crammed into a space you could only access from one side. The walls had a serious condensation/ damp issue. No air con or fan, fortunately the main windows were wide open letting cool air, but not being able to shut the upper window meant we couldn’t sleep because of the mass of street noise outside. As you plug in and out of the solitary double socket sparking can be heard, you have to move the socket around before anything works. Finally as we left the hotel a huge argument was raging in reception. We got out quick, best to avoid this place needs a lot of investment to straighten it out.

Good location but very tired looking hotel and rooms. Most disappointing factor was the lack of towel animals in the room. That was a big selling point for us so obviously we were upset. Water flow in our shower was nonexistent.

The room was too hot but if you opened the window it was noisy. Did have a problem with a leaving toilet which was resolved very quickly. Generally clean but pipework and skirtings dusty

The room was pretty good except the shower was old and hard to get a decent temperature. Staff were friendly enough but I was awoken at 1.30am as they had allocated my room to someone else! Quite unacceptable really.

We left early due to safety concerns. We stayed at Hotel Lily with our children and checked out early after a very disturbing incident. Around 6:10 a.m., the fire alarm was pulled. In the lobby, we encountered a woman calling for help. Her partner appeared to have been assaulted, and she claimed that the hotel had allowed a group of men into her room. She said those men attacked her partner and pulled the fire alarm as they left. This was incredibly unsettling, especially while traveling with children. We no longer felt comfortable staying and chose to leave. The hotel staff did not offer any clear communication or support during the situation. I would not recommend this hotel for families or anyone concerned about basic guest safety.

Worst stay ever. First of all, the radiator was broken — it was 40 degrees in the room, and when we told the receptionist, he almost got annoyed at having to help and explained that it would turn off at 12. There were mold fungus and it was overall extremely disgusting. After the first night, we were woken up by a woman who sounded like she was being beaten by her boyfriend, and I had to go knock on their door at 6 in the morning — after that, my partner and I fled from this hotel and couldn’t get a full refund even though we were only there from Thursday to Friday. Terrible experience — stay away from this place.

It was fine. Considering the room was about half the price of most other local hotels, I was happy with it- it was secure, warm, comfy bed and decent en suite bathroom. Sure it was on the basic side and not spotlessly clean, but it did the job for somewhere to get a good night’s sleep. It isn’t a destination hotel, but doesn’t pretend to be. Reception staff were friendly and helpful and it’s really near public transport.

We had no electricity we had to go and ask for them to sort this out. My bathroom door was falling off, I had no button on my toilet to flush it. Very small room. The person at the service desk wasn’t very helpful, maybe greet your guest with a smile.

Very staff, convenient location and value for money if you are looki g for cheap accommodation in London.

Bad service in front desk

The hotel is nice, but could use some love. For a few days, we managed. The hotel staff was nice and it was easy to get into town with the stations being close by.

The Hotel Lily does not live up to the description and the images. We stayed for 4 nights as a family. The only good thing is the location which is quite central. The beds were made and new towels one time which was ok. However, Hotel Lily needs to make a serious step up. - The hotel fire alarm started 7.15 AM for 10-15 seconds. No action were done, no info, nothing. - The room smelled bad, a mixture of urin and sun lotion. - The toilet door could not close at all. - The room was dirty - The room (and hotel in general) was worn down - Damages all over the room - Upon arrival, there were unclean coffee cups in the room, still containing coffee... - Glitter and dirt on the floor - Trash under and on the side of beds (balloons, icecream leftovers, etc) - People smoking cigarets and weed outside the window, which made the whole room smell bad. - Window had to be kept open due to extreme heat in the hotel. Hotel could provide cheap ventilator but didnt. - Service none existing - Beds really bad - Worst bed we have ever slept in - One can feel the springs right up the body. Would strongly recommend finding alternatives. Could be a decent place if it was operated by staff that cares. The price and the quality is a missmatch, price per night should be 50 pounds tops (we paid around 140).

I book a twin room for two nights, the hotel staff has been friendly and helpful , the room has been clean, quite overnight, close to transportation, for the money what we paid we couldn’t ask for more. For a 2 stars hotel they have from me 5 stars review. Thank you Hotel Lily team for everything, see you next time.

I had a problem with my accommodation through another application and when I arrived at the hotel they allowed me to check in before the established time, the reception was very friendly and the room was clean, close to restaurants and train station, good price.

This property was ok for the price, good location, next to west Brompton train station. Staff were friendly to me.

Felt very unsafe with drunk guests walking and shouting through corridors and car park late at night, staff did their best… hotel needs lots of repairs, at least sheets where clean. Very cheap and now I know the reason.

I had a flight cancellation and had to find a room last minute. The double single room I booked was not worth the rate. The shower was broken, toilet had a broken handle, no kettle for coffee or tea, and the beds were poor with springs very apparent in the mattress. The room itself had a lot of damage and wear issues as well. I slept in my clothes as opposed to in the bed.

The reception staff was helpful and pleasant. Poor facilities, cracked and broken bathroom tiles, no plug for basin or bath, no bracket to hang the shower attachment, poor water pressure so no shower facility, No working TV, curtains hanging of the rail, dirty valances on the beds, poor quality mattresses. Not worth the price. No breakfast or any dining facilities.
