A fantastic hotel, in a fantastic location - right in the middle of the nightlife on Bourbon Street. If you don't like late night noise though, make sure to book a room facing one of the courtyards rather than on to the streets. The inside of the hotel is well-insulated for the external noise though and is an oasis of calm. The rooms are well decorated and equipped, and the facilities are good - in particular the third floor courtyard pool. The staff are always helpful. This was my seventh stay there over the years, and hopefully not my last!

Bad: Several pool loungers were broken. Tiles surrounding the pool were slippery, even when dry. I saw MANY people fall - HARD! So dangerous! The pool itself did appear to be clean. The bar staff at the pool were ok. The lobby looks nice when entering, but the chairs are OLD AND DIRTY. There was a large yellow stain in the bathtub, and the sink drain was semi-clogged. Water ran down very slowly. No way to clear the steam after a shower. There was not enough lighting in our room (3071). Only two lamps, no overhead lighting. We had an inside balcony room. There were at least 20 rooms on the same level that opened onto the wrap-around shared balcony. For those 20 rooms, there were four tables outside of random rooms. When I called down to ask for a table, the representative told me to take one from outside another room. She said that's what everyone does. Ok, so everyone knows that there are only four tables for 20 rooms, and it's ok to steal one from someone else, risking getting into an argument with another guest? How RIDICULOUS!! Early check-in (before 11 am) will cost you $75. Even at 10:59. Good: The staff were all very friendly, and the breakfast at Desire was delicious with impeccable service. Beds were VERY comfortable and the air conditioning in our room kicked a$$!! The feel like the temp outside was 107 most days, so we lowered the A/C to 65 at night and woke up freezing! Just the way I like it. All in all, not sure if I'd stay here again.

They should fix their pool it is surrounded by slate. I have watched more than one person almost trip and fall getting out of it. Additionally it is surrounded by metal not the smartest thing to have baking in the sun. Yesterday I reported to the bartender that there was something orange floating in the water of the pool. Turns out somebody had thrown up in the pool and nothing was done about it and it was reported prior. All of us were swimming in that! Also tell the hotel staff should be made aware that when they are cleaning out a room they should look to see if the room surrounding them are on a late checkout. I listened to doors banging all morning as they walked in and out I asked them to stop and that resulted in them talking loudly and still banging the doors. We got a deal on Expedia so I'm guessing that's why we had an exterior room that we got the joy of listening of The Bourbon Street crowd all night for two nights. I don't think to be a common hallways are tended to saw a hairpin on the floor all four days that we were there.

Beautiful place right in the Quarter. Dining options abundant right out the door. Live Jazz 6 days a week in the hotel was a bonus. Every one was nice. The pool area was gorgeous and made you feel like you were way away from the hustle and bustle of bourbon street. What didn't I like? The pool wasn't cleaned daily. clumps of hair and bugs were in the pool several days. The shower configuration was insane. I couldn't get in and close the shower door without literally putting my nose in the corner and trying to close the door behind me. it was wild. We checked out early but they wouldn't let us check out. It was like a hotel california song in bourbon street. They said we had a week reservation and they wouldn't check us out until it was over. so we left anyways.

Halls had unvacuumed debris for entire 4 days of stay. Front lobby was so overly scented that we had to run through it. Bathroom was clean but shabby (tub had many patches in the enamel, shower valve was almost falling off), one thin plastic cup for us to share, room refrigerator had loose particle board from previous leak, window was very dirty and had one cracked pane of glass. Overall very shabby.

There was a pool of dried vomit under the mini refrigerator door. The housekeeper obviously did not want to clean it. I was totally disgusted. The bathtub was not clean either. I’ve stayed at the Royal Sonesta a few times a year over the past 30 years. I packed and left a day earlier than I had paid for. Unreal.

Property is good location right on bourbon street. However Room service was lacking. Several days, house keeping did not change or provide new cubs, coffee, and trash was left in room overflowing. The body wash dispenser was left empty 80% of our stay, even after communicating to front desk. TV had signal issues, which isn't a huge deal but when you want to relax for 10 min and can't its an inconvenience. Resort fee was charged each day even with poor service and lack of house keeping.

Overall, a great trip. But as a review, my main complaint was with Housekeeping. Knocking on door with “Do Not Disturb “ hanging, not replacing coffee, not taking all dirty towels, and not replacing toilet paper. It much attention to detail.

The staff was very nice and accommodating. Unfortunately the room was only ok. There was no hot water initially. A maintenance worker responded promptly and fixed the issue. Pieces were falling off the bath control and the shower curtain anchor was barely hanging on in the wall. The bed dipped in the middle and unless you slept on the edge, rolled to the middle. The location was ideal.

Bed and pillows were great. We had a suite. Everything was really overall great. The only issues were the tv’s are not smart and you rely on their cable, which wasn’t working. So no tv. When it did come back on the options for the menu or guide wouldn’t work. The other thing was our phone in the room wasn’t working. I couldn’t call down for anything, bell hop, front desk or valet parking. For the $400 a night I expect better.

We had a king balcony room, while the room was ok, the balcony is basically a walkway for whoever wishes to pass by. Not privet at all. Just be aware of that when booking that particular room.

Excellent location. Recommend getting an interior balcony. The pool area is nice but the rooms themselves are very very basic especially considering the price of the rooms. The water pressure in the showers is dismal, the bedding is just a sheet and a paper thin blanket, and the hair dryers are old and not powerful (bring your own, ladies)!

The service at the hotel was excellent. The employees went above and beyond to help you and make you feel welcome. Caleb the door man was exceptional. I’m not sure what a destination fee is ($25/nt), but there was no resort fee, which is what most other hotels charge. Overall a great experience right in the heart of the French quarter.

What was meant to be a quick, overnight, relaxing getaway quickly unraveled into a series of avoidable frustrations. Despite having a reservation confirmed through Expedia, I was informed at check-in that my reservation had been canceled. I presented my confirmation, yet was still asked to pay again. The lack of coordination between the hotel and third-party booking created unnecessary stress and confusion—especially disappointing given the simplicity of the stay. Once in the room, the television didn’t work. After multiple calls to the front desk—where the initial response was surprisingly dismissive—a technician eventually arrived. He was polite and made a genuine effort to assist, but the issue remained unresolved. The TV powered on, but never functioned properly. Room service was another letdown. The in-room dining options were extremely limited—pizza and sodas seemed to be the only items available. For a property positioned as upscale, the lack of variety and attention to detail in amenities was unexpected. The Royal Sonesta has potential, but this visit fell short of the standard I associate with a relaxing, well-managed hotel experience and for the cost. I hope leadership takes note and addresses these service gaps to ensure future guests receive the quality and care they deserve.

The car valets were very friendly and helpful. The front desk not nearly as helpful or friendly to deal with. Also, we were told via an email that there would be a welcome gift and 10% off drinks and $15 food credit not sure what happened with all that and once again check with front desk and they don't know anything about it..

I honestly do not appreciate the fact that it was abundantly clear our room had been given to someone else and we were placed in the next available. When I spoke to the front desk about this, she offered no apology, no solution, not even an extra amenity. I just said ok and decided we would make the best. To have paid nearly $1000 for the weekend and not get what we paid for is frustrating. I don’t think we'll be using Sonesta again on our next trip. Beautiful hotel but not accommodating at all.

The Royal Sonesta New Orleans is in a GREAT location- right on Bourbon and walking distance from most of the great food spots nearby, and close enough to walk to the French Market, Jackson Square, Aquarium, and some other touristy attractions. The hotel Lobby is gorgeous, and the staff (esp the doormen and bell hops) we super kind and helpful. The restaurants on the premisis (I only tried Desire) are really nice and have good food. The only thing I can complain about is the rooms, they can use a bit of a deeper clean- the bathroom towels/shower curtains were stained. The water in the shower only had good pressure when it was warm/hot, and on cool is was very low flowing, which is unfortunate considering you want to cool off after the extreme heat outside. Also, there are no in-room microwaves unless you request and PAY additional for it (on top of the additional $25 daily "resort fee." The hotel does give $15 dollar a day off any expense in the hotel which is nice to use at the restaurants, even if just for a drink. The pool did look nice, but was outdoors which I could not personally enjoy because of the August hot temperature. I would try another hotel next time, though I was lucky to be in a room that got no outside noise because it was towards the back and not rowdy Bourbon street.

We had a great stay at Royal Sonesta! Staff was extremely friendly from the moment we stepped out of our taxi and was greeted by Caleb! We had interior balcony room and heard no sound from Bourbon St! Pool area was enjoyed by my children. While we traveled with our kids, and didn’t love Bourbon St (didn’t feel unsafe just not our scene) we were able to skirt around the hotel and were able to avoid it which was easy to do! We did however LOVE the Cafe Beignet and music legends park right across the street!

An elegant and quiet retreat from the liveliness of the French Quarter. The staff are friendly and helpful —a warm welcome from Armani and an exuberant greeting from Caleb as you enter and depart from the lobby. Great assistance in catching cabs and transportation and finding the best jazz, food and tours.

The Royal Sonesta was the perfect hotel for our trip to New Orleans. The property is lovely and the rooms are very nice. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. I really liked how quiet the property is once inside. You cannot hear the noise from Bourbon Street which is amazing. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the French Quarter. It’s right on Bourbon Street and easily walkable to charming shops, restaurants and galleries. I would stay here every time I come to New Orleans.

This property could really use an upgrade along with some minor adjustments that would have made our stay better. We had no wash cloths in the room and when we requested them they never came. The pool area is dangerous because there are no mats. Literally saw 6 people slip ans fall during stay. Guest had to put their own towel on ground . No non pork options at breakfast. Something was always broken in restaurant. Room needs more ventilation

Rooms tiny, bathroom even smaller. No hot water 2 nights and non responsive desk. Breakfast restaurant was horrible and cost 70 for one order of scrambled eggs and bacon and an english muffin and side of bacon. AND it was inedible--everything tasted of old vegetable grease. .

We booked a Bourbon St King, as we have been to Nola numerous times, but had never stayed right in Bourbon. I cant recommend it more - with some earplugs in, sleep wasnt a problem. The Jazz Playhouse is the arguably the best little place to watch jazz in the city. Desire oyster bar offered great drinks and chargrilled oysters (go see Kiki at the bar!), and Restaurant R'Evolution was the icing on the cake - excellent fine dining experience ...really, you could come to New Orleans and spend the entire trip at the hotel, and still have an excellent time. The bed was also very comfy. I'd highly recommend this place, and I would be hard-pressed to stay anywhere else again!

We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The staff were knowledgeable, kind and helpful. The hotel itself was beautiful. It is conveniently located to get to all areas of New Orleans. Our room was on the executive level and it was so quiet. There was no noise from Bourbon Street. The breakfasts choices were delicious and the beverage vouchers were a plus. Highly recommend!

A good location but hotel run down and they were doing very noisy construction and no notice to guests on the website or when we checked in. Pool was unusable due to noise during day and it closed at dusk. Shower didn’t always heat up. Business center was rundown too. Disappointed with our stay.
