If you love the idea of staying at your elderly aunt's house, this is the place for you. The positives include free breakfast and afternoon wine reception, free parking in a big lot, friendly staff and clean setting. The downsides are a quirky layout with all stairs and no ramps, widely disparate room sizes (our friends' were huge, ours was tiny and very dark), rickety furniture, bathrooms and interiors in desperate need of updates.

A unique and charming hotel in Winston-Salem. We were greeted by a warm and welcoming front desk staff. Daily wine and cheese and nightly cookies and milk - were charming details. Our room was huge and historic - with high ceilings, a fireplace and a brick office to the side of the room. A small lighted staircase connected our room to the bathroom and the large sunken bathtub/shower required some dexterity to enter and no hand bars to help steady. All unique and charming details but older guests might ask for rooms that are more accessible.
