The positives: Staff are very nice, kind and helpful. They are the most valuable part of my experience with this hotel. Room was clean and well conditioned for this relatively cold season. Concerns; This hotel is not accessible; from entry to the corridors to the rooms and bathrooms. I f you are physically challenged like me you would not have a comfortable stay here. Hotel staff did their best to accommodate me by providing shower seat, but their kindness and assistance can not replace the lack of hotel Owners/Managers obligation to provide accessible accommodation for all

I loved reading about the musical history in this hotel, the former Hotel Earle, and even though Joan Baez and Bob Dylan stayed here and Baez later referred to it as “that crummy hotel over Washington Square” (haha) that was not our experience - it was perfectly suitable, clean, pretty quiet, pleasant staff and in a great location. We didn’t know from the listings here that the bar/restaurant was closed for renovations, but there are SO many amazing places in the vicinity that it wasn’t any problem.

The hotel is lovely and has beautifully done ceramic tiles on the walls. It was quiet and clean and service was good. There were few working plugs in the room so charging devices requires sharing the two that worked. The hotel build itself as accessible but it is not. We found out the hard way. Breakfast looked good but there is no way to the dining room if you have a disability. There are 3 stairs to get in to the hotel and the bath tub is not accessible. Had we known we would have booked another hotel. A nice place for someone ablebodied.

Nice location for me. The rooms are on the small size but fine. Overall a decent place to stay. The gym just reopened. It’s very small but nice to have. There wasn’t any cleaning stuff to wipe down machines.

Property was undergoing renovations during our stay so we could not enjoy it fully. The reason I put 4 instead of 5 stars is because there was no access to microwave to guests or mini refrigerator in the room. It would have been perfect if we had access to these utilities!

Completely decent hotel in a great area. Only disappointment was the tiny gym which only had two gliders, one of which was occupied and the other which was broken. Otherwise the equipment in the gym was very minimal -- no free weights and just one machine with multiple functions. One of the reasons I picked this hotel is because it had a gym. They need something better.

There is construction going on. Even at night there was machine noise outside of my window so I had to sleep with ear plugs. Some lights in room didn't work. Service in hotel is limited. Access to hotel obby not ADA compliant.

The staff at this Hotel were wonderful. Very pleasant and really helpful. The room was really nice, and very clean for the most part. There were some staines on the tub and when I opened the bathroom window (theres no ventilation) I noticed the sill could use someThe price was great for right now in New York at this location especially.

This was one of the few options in Manhattan that met both our standards and budget. We were impressed with the impeccable style of the halls, the cleanliness of the room and the service. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 stars, is because the drains in the bathroom were a little clogged, so the tub filled out even when taking a shower with the drain open. Not a big deal, just maintenance stuff.

Great basic hotel with so much charm. Bathroom was excellent, newly updated and very clean, room was very clean and two twin beds were very comfortable. Room was small but very clean and adequate. It did have a coffee maker. Location could not be beat, staff was very responsive and nice. Overall, great stay.

Staff were very cold. It was the only hotel on our honeymoon that didn’t at least acknowledge or congratulate us when we arrived. The room was way smaller than we thought it would be, and the walls were so thin that it felt like the people next door were in the same room as us. Oh and to top it all of I got bed bug bites all over my arm! Great stuff …

Nothing spectacular, especially for the price. The area has a lot of positives for ease of access to public transportation, dining options and relative calm, but the room felt a bit claustrophobic and the neighbors above us made sleeping rather difficult. Broken cold water in the shower, which was unfortunate given the summer heat. The AC was efficient and relatively quiet. The room felt somewhat clean but a lot of the linens had stains. Overall, probably wouldn't return.

Our stay at Washington Square Hotel was good. This is definitely an older hotel, but the room was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly. The location can't be beat, either. Would stay here again if we were looking for a hotel in this area!

I travel to NYC a few times per year to see jazz shows at the Bluenote & the Village Vanguard. I primarily stay at the Washington Square Hotel due to it's great location. It is within a few blocks of the clubs. The neighborhood is fantastic with plenty of terrific restaurants, etc., nearby. As for the hotel, the price is fair & the staff very nice. It is a solid mid-tier hotel. It is by no means luxury, nor is it a dump. It is a clean, well located, reliable, decent place to stay. Pros: Great location, friendly staff, excellent water pressure, breakfast included (haven't tried it), good wi-fi. Cons: Very small rooms, very firm beds, small flat-screen TV wedged up in the corner of the ceiling (plenty of channels though) no mini-fridge, a little noisy, It's hard to beat if you need to be in the area and don't want to spend a fortune. All in all an excellent situation for basic accommodations. Note: When I was there last, I mentioned the rock hard mattress & no mini-fridge & they said next time to ask for a softer bed and a room with a mini-fridge (they obviously must exist) btw, Must go: Waverly Diner & Joe's Pizza a couple of blocks away. .

Very cool property, with super helpful staff. The rooms are comically small, but clean. No refrigerator, no microwave, limited storage. If you go knowing that this is an old hotel, you'll realize the location is absolutely perfect for all things Greenwich Village and NYU. I would definitely return here.

Staff were great; friendly and attentive. Was a nice welcome in and easy check-in. Hotel is a great location near the park and lots to do that is walkable. The room was pretty basic but clean, the bathroom was good and we enjoyed our stay. Some critical feedback would include. . . No fridge in the room, tv was a bit small, bed a bit small and hard for me, hallways are narrow and hallway walls have rough surface that can grab clothes a bit. We would come back. I heard it just sold to new owners so I imagine it may get some changes. Will be interested to see what those changes are.

The rooms are a bit small and spartan but well maintained. The location is unbeatable and the staff is very friendly. It is in the best possible location if you plan to enjoy the Village’s many great bars, jazz and comedy clubs, and restaurants. You can walk to the subway in less than 2 minutes (maybe 80-90 seconds).

Only major issue was our room 903 was directly next to the elevator shaft. It was nonstop noise throughout the night which made sleeping difficult.

Our stay in Washington Square hotel has been very pleasant, from check in to check out the service has been amazing. Location is also one of the best for hotels, being very walkable to many desirable areas in NYC. Rooms are clean but slightly outdated. Breakfast is included but variety can be better. Overall impressive hotel and would definitely stay here again

The location was central to our area of interest and close to times square. What made it an unpleasant stay was the staff. The two desk clerks were so unhelpful it made it difficult to locate any sort of parking, or to unload our bags. The young lady with the short dark hair didnt have two words to say to us, we asked where to park as it was advertised as off site, i had to pull details out of her and find it on my own. The rooms had their own air conditioning which was nice but the bathrooms had no ventilation. The queen beds that were advertised were also absolutely not queens. They were fulls at best, my friend and i are both small females and we had gosleeo very close in that supposed queen bed. There were no parking areas in front of the hotel to unload luggage and no street parking.

Despite reserving two months in advance, I was given a closet of a room adjacent to the elevator (shared walls), a very tired room in need up significant updating, painting especially. Front desk staff barely looked up from their smart phones to speak. Amenities were also laughably old school from the old coffee system in room to towels and bath products. This hotel is tired and the staff is disengaged, but it is a great location.

The staff at this hotel made the stay memorable. We received so much help on both arrival and departure without having to ask, and the front door man remembered us each time we returned to the hotel. Excellent service!

The hotel is just by washing square park and nearby NYU community. Convenient, safety and close to everything are the major reasons to recommend it. The room is clean, not big but neat. The staffs are friendly and welcoming to each person walking by.

Washington Square Hotel was the perfect spot to pick for a stay in the city. It has the perfect location. It had easy access to the subway. Shopping, dining and drinking locations were within a short 1-3 minute walk. The Square is right across the street and was a great place to hang out with coffee or lunch and just take in the city. The area felt incredibly safe and was so much quieter than other areas I visited. The Hotel itself is on the older side, but it felt modern and very comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. 10/10 location in my book.

Washington Square Hotel has a lot of charm and a friendly and helpful staff, but what really sets it apart is its location right at the corner of Washington Square Park. Many of the best restaurants in Manhattan are within easy walking distance. The W. 4th subway station is only half a block away with a choice of lines to whisk you uptown, down to Brooklyn or even out to JFK.

The location is great. The staff could not have been nicer. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The building is older but has charm. The only reason I didn’t give all 5 stars was the breakfast. It was ok, but the coffee was not so good and there was not a hot option of food.

We stayed here so that my son could get a sense of the NYU area. For that, the hotel can’t be beat! The hotel itself is pretty average- old decor, no water in the lobby for water bottle refills, the in-room air conditioning was either full blast cold or left everything feeling damp, and the continental breakfast was awful. The staff was nice’ish. Nothing terrible but nothing memorable.
