Radisson Blu Hotel, London South Kensington

Location is ideal for business in South Kensington, and great for tourists looking for home base. Three Tube stops nearby, Gloucester Road the closest. Walking to Royal Albert, Hyde Park, V&A, High Street Kensington. Hotel breakfast was ok - better warm options on request. Staff are super kind and helpful. Room was large, not common in the UK! Gym was small but plenty of equipment to get in a workout.

If you are staying on the ground floor, getting around the hotel is fairly easy, but on the 4th floor, it is very tricky to get around. There are lots of twists and turns, the hallways somewhat narrow, the carpets too thick to easily haul luggage, and various stairs to go up and down. The lift is also very small and old. Overall, very 'quirky' (used to be 10 separate apartments). Staff was great, however, and Raphael made sure I was comfortable and happy with the room I finally ended up getting (on the ground floor). All the staff were friendly and helpful. No USB ports in any of the rooms however, only in the Business Office on the computers there, which was very inconvenient. But plenty of light in the rooms. Overall, although I wouldn't say it was great, it was a good experience.

Modern hotel in the old beautiful building of South kensington area. The room is modern design and has noise cancellation from outside, so it’s quite more than I’m expected. This hotel has gym, it’s convenient to go to exercise. I’m very comfortable and relax when I stay here.

Hotel was in a wonderful location. Room was good. Lift was a maze to get to.

This hotel is perfectly placed for the Royal Albert Hall, Museums and a stones throw from Gloucester Road station. Very friendly reception staff and check in and check out was a breeze. The small lift causes some delays getting to the room at peak times. The room is great, lots of useful amenities, just a little run down and on the smaller side for a premium room. A mini fridge is useful with 2 small bottles of water provided. Powerful shower. Helpful staff in the bar help service expensive food and drink options. Breakfast was plentiful, lots of options and all tasted good. Great coffee here too. Would we stay here again, oh yes!

Property has very poor access for people with luggage and One needs to climb up the staircase to reach the property. It would be useful if Radisson provided ramp or lift for customers..

We did not like that there is a stair case you have to try and lift your luggage up to get into the hotel and the concierge made no attempt to assist. You also have to manage your way through a maze of carpeted extremely narrow hallways with doors to try and get to your room. The bar was lovely however the female bartender had the attitude of a rattlesnake.

The staff errr helpful and friendly. Great breakfast and a nice bar.

I travel regularly for work and also stay in London regularly. This has to be one of the worse hotels I have stayed in. Granted this was a last minute booking however. Check in was good no issue. The room however was tiny (I can forego that as in London) but it was disgusting, the carpet was filthy tired and discoloured, because the room was so small it looked like around the bed hadn't seen been cleaned for the last 2 years. The bathroom again was tiny (again London so will not make it the issue) was disgusting, the shower itself was filthy with mould. No plus sockets near the bed, however moving the bedside table showed to try and find a socket showed the colour the carpet should be. What's worse is that I spent the whole night being bitten to shreds buy either bedbugs or fleas. Avoid this hotel at all costs!! There are better value and ones which don't have to come with a health risk!!!!

The room was quite filthy. The curtains had stains and food? all over them. The couch had vomit or food or semen all over it in multiple areas it was absolutely atrocious. The general cleanliness of the room was below standard as there was a lot of built up debris along the baseboards. We took out the tub mat to prevent slipping in the tub and it was covered in hair. Overall it was quite disgusting. We were not offered another room just that they would clean the couch. Which they did, albeit poorly. We ended up having to all for a blanket to cover the couch so we could use it.

Awful hotel. Messy, old, dirty and broken.

Clean and tidy hotel. Brilliant staff. TV didn't work in room and they moved us to a bigger room straight away. Comfy beds, although the air conditioner was so old and loud you couldn't have it on overnight.

Staff very accommodating and smiling and polite. Cleanliness was good in room. But carpets stained and old. Decoure dark, could do with a little update. Staff excellent.

The hotel is well situated and the public spaces are fine. The room though was noisy (overlooking a main road). Surfaces were sticky (a desk with deteriorating varnish), there was dirty water in bath which didn’t drain well, no toilet brush and no sockets near the bed. Against this, the breakfast was good and the bed very comfortable.

Overall, a good place to stay. Breakfasts were good and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom and some of the public corridors were a little tired but clean nonetheless.

Good location close to museums and transit. Services offered may allow it to be a 4 star, but room furnishings more like a 2 star. Very dated and worn. Stayed 10 nites but only requested cleaning 3 times and on each occasion housekeeping left something undone from no facecloth, to not replacing coffee or water supplies to leaving dirtly glasses. Front desk did correct and offered free breakfast as compensation. Also when i checked in they showed me 4 rooms as the initial one I was assigned was supposed to be a superior single but had no desk and had a chemical odor. So make sure if anything not right to tell front desk immediately.

I had a late arrivel on a 2 night stay. Got the keys to room 131. The room stinked. Reception was contacted and informed that there must be a dead rat inside the wall. They where fully booked and did not offer another room or a move to another Radisson hotel. Early evening day 2 they moved me to a room that not stinked. This hotel is not worth the money and my best advise is to stay away.

We have stayed here before and loved it. So we came back, but this time we tried to have a drink in the bar but they only had Guinness on draft, and no where to sit. The room was nice however both cream and shower gel either empty and not working and in the bathroom there was a huge pile of sawdust/dust that hadn’t been cleaned up after a repair. Reception lady lovely as always

Room was small but clean and tidy.

Paid £350 for a ‘family room’. It was small and dated. Given a sofa bed which was wonky, squeaked like hell and could feel springs. Mattress topper on double bed (would have expected a decent mattress in the first place). Smallest bathroom I’ve ever seen. I know it’s London and location is premium but this was not good value.

Shortly after arriving, we noticed air conditioning was not working in our room. Staff came up to have a look and verified the issue. Hotel agreed to give us new room next day. Luckily, it was the weather cool that night in London (April 2025). Next day, we had our new room. A little inconvenient, but staff responded quickly. Had new room next day with good A/C.

Good location. Accessing the room was quite convoluted. Room was a bit dated but clean. Thankfully, the air conditioning worked well on a hot London day.

Very small and dated room not accurately reflected in the photos shown. However it was clean with good air conditioning. Location was fantastic with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby as well as the tube station.

I had previously reviewed the property in March, to which the hotel responded and asked me to contact them when booking to allow them to showcase their upgraded rooms. So I did...... The room 'upgrade' looked pretty, was spacious etc but the same issues remain and the upgrade is a lick of paint and new chairs. The main issue was the air con - which a staff member admitted just doesn't work. They need to remove it from their amenities. It was 25.5 degrees in the room and they suggested a fan or opening the window. I ended contacting Expedia who managed to have the staff engage with me and two hours later offered me a different room (an un renovated room) which was cooler as the window was open but still no working ac. They offered no partial refund, just looked blankly. Location is great, but doesn't hit standards of other radissons.

Checked into room, very smelly of dirty water, portable air conditioning unit had leaked water into carpet. The receptionist was unhelpful, didn’t apologise and had to be pushed for us to move room.

Long wait for check in - 15 mins

Hassle getting checked in. Then a room next to a fire door. All night hearing it banging shut. A leak from the bathroom into the bedroom causing a wet carpet. When saying something about it to the reception lady being met with a bockstandard "I will make a note". But clearly she could not give a damn. Last time at Radisson if we can help it.

Confusion on both check in and check out, but I won't dwell on that as everything else was excellent. Cecilia at breakfast is brilliant, so welcoming! Breakfast good. Location excellent. Room lovely- bed really comfortable, quiet hotel and I love a bath.

When I booked, the website said double or two twin beds. When I checked in, they said only a double bed was available. The front desk person named Madhu was very gracious and accommodating and solved the issue by giving us two single rooms. Great solution. The rooms were tiny and OK. Mine had a huge dodgy stain on the carpet. My friend ‘s had no refrigerator. Great location though.

Customer service was poor leading up to the stay, communication was non existent.

We had an early morning flight out of LHR and wanted a car and driver, we were told to take a taxis and that they would book it for us. No driver, no cab, no responsibly by front desk, had to call for our own cab. Very poor.

The room was ok but the air conditioning was cold and could not be turned off. We complained to reception and were told maintenance would look into it but nothing happened so had 2 very cold days. The rest of the hotel was warm so clearly something wrong with the room system.

Only issue was they only had one set of towels and when I went down to ask for more they never brought them up and 45 minutes later I had to go down and ask a second time and then they gave them right to me. Wish they had just done that the first time!

This was a perfect base for a weekend in London - close to the major museums like the Science, Natural History and V&A museums! I got a free upgrade on arrival. Room was spacious, clean, good background and nespresso machine in room. Thank you

Excellent location, 3 minute walk to Gloucester Road Tube station. This station provides access to 3 lines, including the Piccadilly Line to Heathrow Airport. The area is also one of the most upscale in London—very safe. You can also walk to many sightseeing destinations such as: Hyde Park, Kensington Palace, V&A Museum, Harris’s, etc.

Great location for Royal Albert Hall. Short walk to underground and also near range of restaurants. Room was spacious and clean (some paint marks on beige carpet did stand out. Staff v friendly and quick check in. First hotel i have stayed at where you are issued 2 cards-one for room and one for lift/stair access. Would stay again.

Food quality hotel with friendly staff. Excellent location close to the tube, shop, and quick casual restaurants. A little street noise and some banging doors at all hours, but a good choice overall.

The Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt hotel is in a good location. It’s a short walk to Gloucester Road underground station. It is close to Hyde Park and to good restaurants. Also the area is quiet. The free Wifi was good. We had a strong signal in our room. The room was clean and very quiet. The bathroom was a different story. I’m not certain what was going on with the bathroom floor. It looked dingy and there was a clear coating on the floor tiles that was peeling. I felt the floor needed a good steam cleaning. The bathroom was small and narrow, a typical retro-fitted bathroom in an older European building. It had a walk-in shower with a rainfall shower head as well as a hand-held shower head. This shower actually had a full shower door that keep the water inside the shower stall. The breakfast was buffet style with a variety of proteins, pastries, cereals, juices, coffees, and yogurt. We stayed at 5 hotels during our 2-week trip through Scotland and England. All the hotels offered pretty much the same breakfast. The wait staff was busy refilling breakfast serving dishes. This hotel had a tour group staying during our visit. Even though the wait staff was busy catering to everyone, they were still very polite and friendly. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel. We found a near-by restaurant, Coco Momo, that specializes in gluten-free and vegetarian/vegan cuisine. We ate all our dinners here.

The room was too hot and the heating could not be turned down, and I mean it was seriously oppressively hot, window would not open. Breakfast was food and the service was excellent. The room was a little tired with old fashioned plug sockets but overall not a bad stay
