Their lagoon is the best. Worth every penny. Some other charges caught us by surprise, but I guess they are expected these days. Food at Island Gourmet (at Queens Market ~1mile from resort) is good quality and reasonably priced. Very close to Lava club - excellent for dinner with sunset.

Aging but beautiful property. The boats are being phased out which it unfortunate. The trams are slow, hot and very loud. Lagoon is the highlight. Food good but restaurants overpriced .

Had a lovely time! Restaurants on the property offer a good range of food that’s perfect for hanging out in the sun or for date night. The spa was excellent, and the pools were wonderful. The lagoon was likely my favorite part, as you constantly see ocean life like sea turtles and sting rays. Not to mention you can rent a car and see the island, go on a catamaran cruise, snorkel, and more!

My 4th stay at this property and it will be my last. If you are a returning guest, be aware that things are not the same. * A hot tub in the Kona pool area is no longer available for guests. You have to pay $1,000 per day to rent it. * Giant waterfall at Kona pool is gone! * Makai guests no longer get poolside sun chairs. They have been replaced with day beds that need to be rented. * Waiters and waitresses no longer take your poolside drink order unless you are in a rented day bed. * Makai guest no longer get poolside safes. * The pools are no longer heated. They are freezing! * Guests no longer get daily bottled water in their room. Instead you get a refillable water bag but the dispensed water tastes horrible. * This hotel still has no recycling program. * The parrots, flamingos, and tortoise are gone. * The lagoon used to have 18-20 turtles in it. Only saw 3 and most guests never saw a turtle at all. * Only had 1 boat running creating long waits. In the past, the hotel always had 2-3 boats running. * The boat waterway is filled with sludge and slim. Needs to be cleaned. * There is no longer a Japanese or a Chinese restaurant on site. * No more mini golf. * Housekeeping didn't come for 3 days, even when we signed up for daily cleaning. * Asked a gift shop worker to break a $10 bill into 2 $5 bills, and was told I had to buy something from the store. * Waited 20 minutes for car valet. Poor service, dirty, and WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for what you get. Prices are way up!

Nice room. Nice pool. Limited food. Breakfast was either a $60 buffet or a coffee stand. Nothing in between. Limited restaurant options for lunch or dinner. Pool with no umbrellas. You could rent a chair with a shade for $200. A bit disappointing.

It\'s a great setting. Perfect views and staff are easy to work with. Lagoon is cool for adults and tons for kids. Less than ideal, rooms show use in the newer wing, Makai. The gondola is "temporarily closed" and if you ask staff about it they get nervous and deflect the question. It\'s on their website as a feature but when we got there its not on any maps. The parking was $50 a day which is really high. The food was really high. The Ham & Cheese Omelet on the breakfast buffet for $55 was the worse one I have eaten in my 69 years. The property was hugh and 1 of the 2 trams was not running for the first 3 or 4 days. So you had to wait for up to 25 minutes instead of the around 10 we were quoted to get on one. There were birds in the atrium of the Palace hotel that chirped loudly around 7:00 PM every night and at around 5:00 AM every morning that was louder than the TV and woke us up most days. The Adult only pool was not marked as such at the pool and I had to ask 2 groups of people with children to leave in one day, one did after giving me a dirty look and the other lady did not until someone else went to the fornt desk and complained. We gave up and just went to the other pools after this before I had a big confrontation with someone. Also the $50 Spaghetti was not good and we tossed most of it. I reported all of this to the mananger but no one offered to give me a discount he just asked what he good to do make my stay better, I didn't know what to say. I guess I should have asked for some finanical compensation or something. The manager did get both trams running after I complained about them. If you are older and want a restful vacation do not go to this property! You need to be able to walk a lot and have plenty of cash!

They never came to clean the room nor was ever offered at the check in. People at the counter were not friendly, room was okay but bathroom tub had to be cleaned. I took a bunch of hair out myself because the water wasn’t going, the hair was a lot, as if it hadn’t been cleaned for a while.

I would not stay here. Great grounds poorly used. I would downgrade it to a 3 star property. Customer service is non existent. We ended up spending all of our time outside the facility. The staff does not understand hospitality and this is why I avoid Hilton properties. You go from pretentious and stuffy Waldorf Astoria to non existent staff with a culture of bad service. I will skip this property. It would have been gorgeous in its hey day but poorly maintained and dusty everywhere I couldn’t stop sneezing. Towels, sheets and bedding were so worn they were brownish and lack any iota of fluff. So disappointed. It put a damper on our Big Island stay. I booked the grounds! Never again

The room at check in was filthy, had to have it recleaned. The lagoon was polluted with sun screen oil, it created such an oil slick unable to snorkel. Majority of staff beside bell and valet need customer service training. How easy is it to say good morning smile and be pleasant. Hilton Waikoloa is a waste of money spend your hard earned cash else wear.

We stayed at the Palace suite and when we checked into our room we noticed how dirty it was. There was a heavy layer of dust on the floors around the furnitures especially around the bed and we felt we were inhaling dust throughout the first night. I had scheduled Housekeeping for Friday (we checked in Wednesday) but no one showed up. I called and they said they’d send someone Saturday morning instead. No one came, I had to call again and they said they’d send someone in the afternoon. Again no one came to clean, I had to personally walk to front desk and explain the situation until something was done about it.

Beautiful property. Rooms are a little old. When we arrived the room was dirty. We called housekeeping and they took care of it right away. We scheduled cleaning every 2 days in a 6 day stay. But they never came. Booked the luau. The food was not good. Not many options on drinks through the facility either. Fun pools but the bathrooms weren’t clean.

My room was visibly dirty, there was a package of cookies left on the shelf, I found an earring on the floor by the bed and there were little ants all over my bathroom and on the bathroom counter. The property was great otherwise and very kid friendly. The lagoon was a favorite's for my kid to play in.

The grounds were well kept, the property is huge and gives a real scale of how massive the Big Island is too. The thing I didn't like was that the boat areas were closed off and weren't used for anything. It could have provided another way to get from A to B. The tram's AC was broken in August..the windows/doors don't open so that was bad. I mean, what is fire broke out in the tram..? So transportation was not great. We stayed at the Palace Tower and the walls are paper thin, the hallways were noisy. But the room was large and the lanai had a partial ocean view, it was quiet and peaceful. Everything closes really early so that was another bummer. Overall, I enjoyed the stay.

As a single parent of kids with disabilities, this property was a total nightmare. The resort is ENORMOUS. I was reassured that there was a tram that could take us to the pools but during our entire stay we successfully caught the tram twice. Which meant we were putting in 15,000 steps per day going from our room to the pools, entertainment. The only restaurant in our tower was an extremely expensive Italian restaurant. There’s no bottled water in the rooms so they give you fillable water bags—but good luck finding the filling stations. The towel dispensers are not where the maps say they should be. The parking lot is far and requires a lot of steps. I put in a housekeeping request for more towels and coffee and hard to check in multiple times for several hours before anyone came. When I was booking this I reached out to the resort and mentioned I will be traveling with kids with autism. I asked if they had any tips for me since I’d be traveling as a single parent, and their only response was “we have no kids club.” That should have been a sign for me that this resort is not disability-friendly. It’s very beautiful and flashy but they absolutely do not accommodate anyone with physical needs and the food is not kid-friendly (I.e you can’t even get a hamburger anywhere). I’m so disappointed considering how much money I spent. To be fair, my kids had a nice time (aside from the walking) but it was at my expense since I had to carry everything.

We arrived later around 930-10pm upon entering room was leaking from the ceiling, called waited for another 1/2-45mim for a room change. The next room was much better but noticed we didn’t have a microwave not sure if they are suppose to have one, typically all hotels I have stayed at had one? For a 6 night stay there were some days a microwave would have been nice, oh well, we noticed the fridge was just hanging out on the floor but cabinet had a cut out what look like for a fridge which was odd. Again no big deal. Room was a little dated. But the view and the amenities in the resort was amazing. We didn’t spend a lot of time in the room so some of the missing items and set up wasn’t too much of a bothered. The only other thing is please provide enough towels for each individual guests, we received 3 towel set for a family of 4 weird again. Had to call or go back to main lobby which is a trek but we then just use some beach towels that were offered nearby.

I would not recommend staying in the Palace tower at this resort - it is literally over half a mile to walk to the front desk, and parking area. It was also a very long walk to the pools. They had a tram that was never running when we needed it, and the AC was broken. It’s a nice resort, but very inconvenient to get around. I probably would not stay again.

The grounds were beautiful but there were some areas that were needing maintenance and repair. The bed was horribly uncomfortable and we didn’t get the king bed we reserved with Expedia - not sure whose fault that was - Expedia’s or the hotel. We ended up with two queen beds which was all they had available for an ocean front room. They tried to upsell us into a suite for $300 extra per night and we told them no. Then they tried to give it to us for free which seemed odd. Come to find out, it was because they didn’t have the room we originally reserved. We were NOT happy!! Did not start out on a good note for us.

The property is very nice lagoon is the main thing why we keep going back there we love the snorkeling area.Makai room is all ocean view but is very old and outdated our room is room 3311 looking by the dolphin area but the water everytime we shower goes outside and it’s flooding the floor 3 towels needed to dry it.My husband almost fall coz we didn’t know its flooding .We just decided to stay in that room coz of the view and just ask towels everyday.I did told the front desks during check out to correct the problem and for future bodily injury.Properly is beautiful itself.

Restaurants could be open longer. The resort needs more handicapped friendly accessibility to ALL areas. A wonderful shout out to Eugene at check in. He has an extremely good and personable personality. I regret not being able to actually meet him, he met my daughter and she was extremely impressed by him as well. Thank you Eugene!

front desk is poor. when I asked for upgrade about how much total, they provided the wrong information about nightly instead of total of full stay. that make me confused about the total amount of upgrade and expend extra money. and if i know the TOTAL is larger than i expect, i wont process.

Upon check in the person who checked us in told us she would give us free self-parking. When we checked out we saw she charges us for parking, it was almost the same price as valet and if we had to pay for parking we would have just would have done valet, We complained upon check out and the person at the front desk said she would speak with her boss and call us back. of course, she never did and they charged us! The walk to the parking was far and if I had known i would have to pay $50 I would have just valet the car since my spouse has ashma !

The staff is not helpful and checking in is awful. That is my number one complaint about this facility. We have stayed twice and the check in process was an absolute nightmare both times. The check in is at 4:00 pm but be prepared to wait past that to get your room available to you. The property is beautiful and in a great area, but they can definitely do better with room cleaning.

Room was guaranteed at 4pm. Not ready and we checked in at 1pm. Moved us to a different room which was poorly kept- dirty, dusty, blood stains on pillows. Never been used or cleaned. Asked for manager and moved us. Our entire 1st day was wasted. Staff is not kind and not accommodating. The large pools and lagoon is nice and well maintained. But the rooms are old and not worth it. Property needs to be updated. Need a breakfast spot that serves a la carte not just a buffet. The little coffee shop sold out of all pastries by 8am. Just not what I expected. Thought service would be great. Will not return. Going to continue staying at Marriott.

One of your managers, Carl, was incredibly rude and long story short, I paid for a private cabana, your most expensive one. The oasis with its own spa, and someone tried to walk in and use it. When she was informed it was private she decided to complain and ME AND MY PARTY were kicked out instead of that person being told that it was indeed reserved. Unprofessional, completely disrespectful to a PAYING customer, and completely wrong to side with someone trying to take advantage of your facilities without paying. We will be taking this further.

Had the time of our lives. Staff was amazing they had lost our keys to our rental, and the managers made sure they made it right for us. Took care of our valet and resort fees and gave us a cabana. They were amazing

A spectacular property w/ wonderful architecture, decor, & foliage, w/ scenic portraits every 50 feet. The vast property needs the fun boats & tram system to get around. I wish the trams were quicker between stops, this would save lots of vacation time. There was a good deal of renovation going on this trip, but surprisingly not disruptive to our stay. Valets, porters, reception, housekeeping, all service people were wonderful & helpful for any request. My only complete disappointment was our dinner at the Kamuela Provision co., the premier restaurant on the property. You cannot beat the location, design, or panoramic views at this restaurant. The reception for our reservation was efficient, but cold as ice. Our waiter was experienced & well versed in the menu. We understand the desire to be unique, but you have to remember to provide what your patrons want, good flavors. The decision to not provide a single green salad option was very disappointing to my wife. Sorry, diced cabbage does not count. I asked for a modification to the sashimi option (ahi only) which was rejected by the chef. OK, I tried something else, wantons - not tasty. Then to entres. The menu items all sounded good: peppered ahi & a custom Mahi mix for my wife. The problem was all of the garnishes/sauces were bland & very disapponting for anything that costs $70-$80/plate. We get back to this property every 3-4 years. Hopefully, our return visit will recover to the wonderful meals from previous trips.

The lagoon and pool were wonderful. Protected from waves but still saw tons of sea-life everyday. The parking was very far to walk everyday and the tram was not working all the time. Lots of walking. The restaurant Nui Italian was pretty good. The breakfast buffet was expensive so only did it once. Not many breakfast options on the property. The Kings and Queens Shops close by had good restaurants and some good shopping. The grocery store there also had great food.

The resort is beautiful and expansive, with enough activities for a week stay. The drive from the airport is through an alien landscape of volcanic rock - a very unique experience. Since there is nothing else around, the dining options are all very expensive and there are fees and charges for almost everything, so a stay can be expensive.

Loved the lagoon for swimming - better than getting beaten up by the ocean surf. Grounds, walkways, canals were beautifully and artistically arranged and accented by all of the Asian statuary and flatwork. Go0t my "steps" in everyday walking from one end to the other - occasionally took the tram which was a nice break at the end of a long day. Parking expensive as were the restaurants - we ate elsewhere most of the time.

Absolutely beautiful, peaceful resort! We stayed at the Makai looking out our lanai was the lagoon, the ocean and we could also see the Dolphins at the Dolphin Quest. The resort is huge, we walked and we took the tram. Thank you Hilton Waikoloa.

Loved the ease of getting around the property. The daily self parking fee was way too much! I could see that charge if you got valet but self park was way high! Surprised that a village hotel like this didn’t have better dining options on site. There are a lot of options if you have a car.

The property is secluded, but there are stores and restaurants nearby. There is a tram that runs to take you to the different towers and on-site restaurants. This is an expensive property, so even with a lower price on Expedia, there are additional property fees that added a substantial cost. Including an $48/day resort fee. The on-site car rental made day trips possible, without paying the $55/day fee to park a rental car.

Nice property but insanely overpriced! They get you everywhere! They leave a cheap tote bag in your room and then they want $13 for it! They charge $55 plus tax and gratuities for breakfast per person and they have a make your own waffle machine that is identical to the one at Holiday Inn! $55 plus tax and tips for breakfast! they could at least make the waffle! I got pasta and tiramisu delivered through room service. The pasta came soaked in a small brown cardboard box. For $70, it tasted disgusting. And then another thing. They actually put monitoring chips on their towels! You get it out of a machine and if you don’t return it, they charge you $20 per towel! I never heard of a hotel putting a security device on a hotel towel! Also, self parking was almost $50 a night! It turned out to be not much different from valet parking. And it was quite far away from our room.While it’s a really nice looking property and has a cool pool with dolphins, I wouldn’t stay here again.

The resort was really nice but they definitely nickeled and dimed you out of everything. Luau was wayyyyy over priced and for what we pay to stay at the resort they should have a shuttle that picks you up from the airport and takes you. I also didn’t like the 120 dollar a day damage hold that’s just ridiculous you shouldn’t be charging anyone a fee for every day they are there! Other than that the resort was really nice and clean I loved my room it had two balcony’s and a comfortable bed! The views were nice too. The food wasn’t that great and the water stations to fill your bottles had warm water in them. This resort has the potential to be 5 stars but it’s not.

Views are nice and lagoon and fun. The property had obviously been neglected however. Lots of trash around the grounds. Floors were dusty and dirty. Pool party at kohala pool was super loud. Limited dining with no overlapping hours. Room service menu was awful. May dining locations were closed during our trip as was the hours of restaurants (i.e. kpc is closed sunday and monday, and kona lounge is closed Tuesday and Wednesday). Will not be returning, the overall cost is not worth it.

The property is beautiful, and it’s very family friendly. There was so much to do; I would 100% come back. My only qualm was that I spent about $115 on the buffet breakfast, and it was disappointing. The food was cold and just unappetizing. Not worth all that money.

Truly a resort that you never have to leave. Has lots of dining and shopping options. Nice variety of pools. Very well maintained. The resort is BIG. 60 plus acres with 3 different rooming "towers". Dolphin Quest is especially interesting.

The brackish lagoon has amazing snorkeling and an awesome waterfall. We saw turtles, a ray, eels, and all the other various reef fish. The main pool is huge. We also enjoyed the food from the lagoon in grill. Nui Italian has great thin crust pizza and salads. Every morning I walked over to Waikoloa Coffee Company and got coffees and tasty breakfast items such as açaí bowls, guava danish, bean and cheese burrito and bagels with cream cheese.
