Hotel Phillips Kansas City Curio Collection by Hilton

All things considered to be excellent, there’s no longer a shuttle service which was one of the amenities on Hotels.com. Valet service was expensive compared to other downtown hotels I’ve stayed in.

Two of three small elevators were down Long lines to access floor and room. Three of four mornings the lobby coffee was empty. Ive had wonderful Curio Collection experiences but not this in KC.

Great place to stay. Hotel staff was amazing. Will stay here again. Bar staff probably needs some training. Cosmos and expresso martini were good. The dirty martini was undrinkable and we still had to pay for it.

This once-charming hotel felt a bit rundown. Bathroom hardware was broken, walls seems dirty and scuffed, ice machines are broken and questionably clean at best. The valet took a very long time (despite the folks working at the valet hustling, they just keep the cars too far away) and the lobby smells give off more of an 'old lady perfume' rather than 'swanky old charm'. Elevators floors were broken bits of tile, and sadly the speakeasy in the basement was pretty hit or miss. We love the concept of an 'old' hotel but without the upkeep this wasn't worth the visit.

No microwave or fridge in rooms. Elevator took forever to open. Congested in area when you check in. No room for the lounge for us either night. Elevators very small barely able to fit with my back pack, bag and my 2 kids and luggage

Front desk employees were very helpful and professional. Very nice hotel. One negative moment however; I went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast, the hostess was very nice and sat me right away. But, despite being the only customer in the place at the time, the waitress and manager, stood around talking about 5 feet from my table, for 6-7 minutes without even acknowledging my existence. So I left and had breakfast at a diner a few blocks away.

Staff was helpful and friendly. Restaurant and Speakeasy were great and enjoyable.

Only issue was with the ice machines. On alernate floors which wasnt an issue but most were not operational. Also no mini fidge in the rooms to chill water, beer or wine.

The good first, location. We walked to two jazz clubs, enjoyed a few more close places. Beds soft and shower was great. The bad was that when they cleaned the room they took the towel that was hanging and didn’t give us more towels. They also didn’t give us more coffee pods. No frig. Lastly parking is $42/day.

Overall it was a great stay. Reponses to requests not real prompt. Shower floor needs work. Sad that microwave or fridges need to be requested. Street access under construction so valet parking confusing and fristrating...lacked communication. Great location and price. Overall apperance nice and felt like home. I would try again.

The staff was great, but the property itself was kind of a let down. Not a fan when the pictures of the room that are used to book are not remotely close to the actual room you’re given. Our room was not very clean, end tables and lamps were dusty, the bathroom sink was dirty, the shelving in the shower was falling off the wall. Wouldn’t quite peg it as “luxurious” and most definitely did not match the price.

We booked the king deluxe which was anything but deluxe - this is actually the 1st review I have done and only because our experience with hilton properties have always been good to very good. We were put into a room that had a king bed at the end of the hall it was 1/2 size of all the other rooms on the hall - the bathroom had dried toothpaste on counter and the drapes had what appeared to be vomit?? it was next to bathroom door so that is my best guess. The room overall looked unclean - went to front desk and had to deal with a young lady who did not make eye contact but moved us to the same type of room just a couple floors down but it did appear cleaner - I did call to front desk initially just to question why we were not in the deluxe as shown on booking and told all of them are different - not true this was 1/2 size and desperately needed updating etc....nothing like the other king deluxe on that floor. My guess since we booked thru expedia we got the bottom line rooms. In the meantime - the head of housekeeping showed up to our original room and her and a staff cleaner were addressing the issues and they were very apologetic etc...after they recleaned everything we decided to stay instead of completely repack (we will not unpack so quickly next time) also there was a weird rotten egg smell in bathroom not all the time more prominent when we took shower - did not even bother reporting. All in all just a disappointing experience, one we were not used to w/Hiltons

We always stay the the Phillips after our yearly holiday party downtown kc. The cleanliness of this beautiful historic hotel continues to decline. Every surface in our room was covered in dust, our bed pillows appeared to have been laid on upon arrival, there was trash on our floor and the window shades were ripped to the point that they should have been replaced long ago. The elevators also appeared very dirty.

The lobby is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are cold, and when you turn the heat on it blasts you away. The room is extremely small but the shower is awesome. Due to the blackout curtains not closing all the way, the light shines in at night. We had reservations at the P.S. Speakeasy, and less than an hour before our reservation at 730, they messaged me on OpenTable to tell us that they had a private party and we were more than welcome to come after 11pm. We went to the restaurant to have a drink and we were disappointed. Unfortunately, just not a good experience for us.

Nice clean rooms, especially for an older hotel. Loved the classic look to it. Staff super friendly. No fridge/microwave in room unless you ask for it. Walking distance to T mobile center which is why we stayed here. Overall very pleasant for an overnight stay.

The hotel staff were nice, valet friendly and quick. It was convenient for walking around power and light district. Our bed, however, was not great. Head of the bed went downhill so sleeping that direction was difficult.

The Hotel being a Historic Building was visually amazing. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The only complaint has to be with the Mattress on the bed, the bed was too hard needs some softness, secondly the mattress needs to be changed out, there were divots on both sides of the bed which leads me to believe the mattress needs to be replaced ASAP.

The stay was good. The hotel has boutique-style rooms that are art-deco. Smaller but cozy. The staff, restaurants and location were fabulous. Fun place! Good atmosphere!

The room was clean and stylish. Great shower. I cannot emphasize this enough, the quietest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Once in my room I didn’t hear another guest, cars outside, HVAC noise, absolutely nothing.

My husband and I were on a getaway weekend for our anniversary. I booked the hotel because I love architecture, specifically art deco. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are all updated and modernized but with period appropriate fixtures. Shortly after getting settled in our room I received a text making sure all was well with our accommodation. The following day I received another text to make we were still good. She was able to book our reservation for the restaurant when I inquired about it. I was curious about the Speakeasy and was able to get reservations. Both were wonderful. The food at Travernonna was beyond expectation. Incredibly fresh. There was a little confusion over who our waitstaff would be, but once that was figured out our waiter was wonderful, I never felt rushed but he was prompt with keeping us comfortable. The speakeasy was quaint and the drinks were very strong. I loved the ambiance and our waitress was punctual. Our glasses never went dry. Overall it was a wonderful experience. We will be back.

17th floor and 1 working elevator was a major pain. Wait times were long to go up or down. Rooms and hotel were cold. Room temp never went above 68deg. Tried to get it to 74 and nothing turned up to 80 and nothing. Bathroom sink was plugged and drained very slowly. Location was great for stay and NCAA wrestling g championships. Staff was great. Very friendly and helped as needed. Parking was not convenient and valet parking g was expensive.

1. Upon arrival, they told me there was an engineering issue issue and my room was no longer available. I had paid more to have two queen beds for myself and a friend. They told me they could only give me a single king. They told me if I did not accept this offer I could find a different hotel. Losing my room too an engineering issue on their part and then being downgraded… and then being told I can either take the downgrade and sleep with my friend (so we’re both uncomfortable through the night) or find a different hotel was extremely frustrating. I was only made aware of this upon arrival. 2. Numerous times when I went down to the lobby to find out the status of our rooms, the hotel staff had AirPods in their ears. If they are being paid to help, it’s frustrating for them not to be able to hear what you’re saying because they have AirPods in. Unprofessional. 3. Asking to speak to a supervisor, my guest and myself were allowed two king rooms to stay in, so we each had a bed of our own. They told us there were no other queens available, and this was the only option. The next day they demanded, we remove ourselves from the rooms we were in so that we could be put back into a double queen. Very inconvenient as we had all of our stuff scattered through our hotel rooms. We had to gather everything and then place it in the lobby for the entire day as our new room was not yet available. 4. Proper bathroom doors and a bathroom fan are needed.

Got there and someone was in our room. Went back down and got the room situation fixed. Came back to the room late, and the key cards didn’t work on the new room. Good thing the digital key did. The shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor. Went down for breakfast, sat down and no one would wait on us. Eventually just got up and left. The valet team was great, the bartender on Friday night was awesome, but overall, not sure if we will return on our next KC visit.

The valet parkers are friendly & quick. All hotel staff are friendly. I have stayed here multiple times & never had a negative encounter. The hotel is always beautiful & the lobby and elevators take me back in time. The rooms are clean, and I love the beds & bedding.

Charged me for the room twice and then charged me for a late checkout and we were gone by 10:45. Very disappointing service

We had excellent service and team members went out of their way to get us a roll away bed and refrigerator. Our handle on the toilet broke and they came to repair it within an hour. The location was great we had a great stay!

Every staff member we encountered was friendly- including valet, front desk staff, in room dining staff, speakeasy staff and Tavernonna. Truly, every single person we interacted with added to the positive experience. I cannot say I have ever been able to say that before that universally on ALL fronts, staff was friendly! The hotel is clean and very well designed. It was cool to stay in a historical building like that. The only issue I had was that the hotel room was chilly. I assume that comes along with the territory of staying in a historic hotel like that. I still give the stay 5/5 stars, but would give that heads up to anyone who has chronic join pain or related issues who plans to stay here in the winter. Our room never got above 62 degrees. I had happened to bring my heating pad and found it helped offset the cold. We stayed here as part of a date night from a town just 45 minutes way. Staying here added an extra level of elegance to the night!

All the staff were friendly and helpful-from the front desk to the valet service to the restaurant servers. Wish I had everyone’s name!! Not a single bad experience. Not even a blah one. I can’t wait to see what the hotel looks like after all the renovations are completed. Would definitely stay here again!!

Check process was very slow and digital card wasn’t an option. Valet is so expensive and was told no self park but later learned there was self park options.

Quick check in. Place is clean. Walking distance to Midland Theater. In town for concert.

Location was great for convention center and t mobile center

We came for a show at the Music Hall and I picked Phillips Hotel. Location was perfect and everything was within walking distance. Staff and valet attendants went above and beyond making us feel welcomed. Will be back!

The history of the property and its design aesthetics were unique and beautiful. One area had a library, reading nooks, shuffle board, and checkers. Very walkable to T Mobile and the Power and Light District.

My mom and I loved our stay here! The staff was very friendly and my mom really appreciated them giving us medicine when I got sick during our stay. We loved how centrally located the hotel was! We easily parked in a parking garage one block up from the hotel and didn’t have to get our car out the entire stay. We could walk to our concert, to the free street car, and many restaurants. We will definitely be back to KC and we will stay here again for sure!

Great location

This is the 5th time I've stayed at Hotel Phillips en route between St. Louis and Aspen. I love the convenience, super cool old Art Deco building right in the Power & Light District with access to tons of dining options. I will always stop when I drive through the few times a year. Thank you for always taking such good care of me!

Great area of town to hang out in. The hotel is very close to the street car and the Power and Lights district.

Excellent Location!!

Had one night after business trip and wanted to stay in a historic hotel. Rooms were minimalist style, yet elegant and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful with suggestions on dining. We self-parked in the building. The overnight parking fee was very reasonable. The nearby Power and Light District had a major event going on and was closed off to the general public. We ended up eating dinner at the hotel’s Italian Kitchen. Glad we did- excellent food. Overall, had a great stay at Hotel Phillips.

Tavernnova was amazing!

We enjoyed our stay, everything with the room and check in was fantastic. Only complaint we have has to do with the bar and restaurant and it seems like significant more training needs to go into place there. There was a lot of confusion about what was open and available at different times and what areas were considered part of the bar for happy hour. I think the restaurant and bar manager need to get together and clean that up

The hotel staff goes above and beyond with an amazing uplifted attitude. Efficient and friendly! The only part of our experience that was disappointing was breakfast. We waited for our food for 30 plus minutes. A manager came to us and apologized and comped our meal, which was very nice…but the meal we received was not good at all. Eggs were seriously undercooked, potatoes were over cooked, no butter or jam for the toast and everything was cold. Having said this, we will still be back next year to stay in this beautiful hotel with such a great staff. Been staying here for years, just probably will stay away from the restaurant.

The hotel itself was lovely. But we paid for the Le Petit Chef experience last night and visited the Taveronna for brunch this morning. Both had cold inedible food. Service at Taveronna was awful, giving my finacee runny scrambled eggs cold biscuits and gravy. Myself got the French toast also cold. The Le Petit experience was no better. A couple left our table after the 3rd course. The seafood course was cold. The steak portion well done and dry. The crème brûlée cold and runny. And we had to pay BEFORE we ate. Then they serve abysmal drinks from a rinky dinky bar set up in what looks like a storage facility with some tables slapped in. I would love to come back to the hotel but the food was awful and the staffing in those food environments very unprofessional.

Stayed here for our first wedding anniversary. Had a great time. The location was great for getting around downtown and checking out all the other places we wanted to go. The hotel was clean, quiet, had really good options for food and drink. The speakeasy was fabulous. Great jazz and delicious drinks. The restaurant was very good, room service was easy and quick. We loved the ambiance and decor. The old school vibe was great and very inviting. Staff was friendly and attentive. Vanity at the front desk made us feel at home immediately.

The Hotel Phillips was definitely a great choice for Kansas City. We can to attend a concert at the T-Mobile Center and this was the perfect location. It was a ten minute walk to the arena and plenty of nearby restaurants and bars. The room was well appointed and comfortable. The Tavernonna restaurant and bar was excellent. Fran was a great bartender who not only made great drinks but made the night leading up to the concert a lot of fun. The food was excellent especially the rigatoni with vodka sauce. Make it a point to stop in.

Very neat old hotel that is close to power and light district. Would highly recommend. Definitely make reservations and go to the Speakeasy at the hotel.
