Candlewood Suites Louisville Airport by IHG

Inconvenient parking. Keys didn’t work. Trip for new keys. Opened room and already occupied. Trip for new room & keys. One lamp not working. No outlet beside bed.

This place is very quiet and clean. They are doing some reno on the third floor. Beds are comfortable and room was clean. Staff could have been more friendly but they weren’t rude either.

My first time staying here at this hotel in Louisville. There is no free breakfast but all the rooms have a mini kitchen such as full size fridge, microwave, sink, 2 burner stovetop and a dishwasher. I went to Target, about 5 minutes away, my first of 8 days and got some groceries. Be advised that this hotel is not within walking distance to any restaurants. I knew this ahead of time which is why I picked this one with a kitchen. I did not see a king size bed option but the queen was enough for me traveling alone. The room is a little bit outdated but everything was functional. The free washing machines and dryers made it easy to clean my clothes. There is a small gym with a couple treadmills, couple bike machines and some free weight dumbbells. What I enjoyed the most was the wifi. When I travel for an extended period of time away from family I like to bring my PS5 with me. I checked the internet speed several times and my average speeds were 10 ping, 30Mbps DL and 25Mbps UL. Constant somewhat fast speeds are rarity in most hotels. Would definitely stay here again.

This was not my first stay at this hotel, but it was probably my last. We happened to be in Louisville during terribly cold weather over Christmas. We had no cable TV, which is not a huge deal, but then a pipe burst and caused flooding. I walked through the lobby and saw wet carpeting and dripping ceiling lamps. I was told it was ok, that it was just the bottom floor. Less than a half hour later, I called the front desk because we had no water at all. I was told that now all three floors were flooding. I asked whether we should check out and was told that it might be a good idea. I am not upset about the pipe burst, it was cold and that happens sometimes I was more bothered that even after we discovered the fire alarm that rang out that morning was due to the burst pipe, we were never informed so that we could make other arrangements. I am concerned that the water was running through electrical wires and that power outage might be next, in -26 degree Windchill weather.

It was just ok. The room did have a slight odor. I figure it was a dog smell since it us a pet friendly hotel. There waa not enough outlets by the bed either. Kinda weird when we got off the elevator on our floor that one whole wing was blocked off for construction.

We had a good stay and it was very clean. There were a few things that needed service. The smoke detector was hanging down from the ceiling. The staff were pleasant and brought towels when we needed them. The key cards didn't work all the time.

Afternoon staff was great! 3 days and we never figured out how to regulate the temp. Nice size room. Poor parking. Good location. No breakfast.

Stayed here for Louder than Life. It was a super quick drive to get to the concert. You can even take a route through town and avoid the highway (where all concert traffic is routed). The card machine was down during our stay, so staff had to let you into your room each time you returned. That wasn't the most convenient, but obviously not a usual thing. The property itself was good for what our needs were. The laundy was free to use. No ice machine other than the one in the rooms. That wasnt convenient for tailgating, but we made it work. The windows in the rooms could be opened, which was nice for checking the temperature. We didnt use the kitchen to cook since we weren't there during most of our time, but it seemed good. Full size fridge with icemaker in room. The beds wasnt the most comfortable I'm told by my friends, but i was honestly too tired to notice once i got to bed. Shower didnt have the best pressure, but its a hotel so unlimited hot water makes up for that. It was quiet. No loud people during our stay, even when the concert got canceled for a day and people were stuck in the rooms. There is an outside gazebo for grilling, but we were here during Helene, so we didnt use it.

Nice place to retreat. Friendly staff and clean facility. Some items need replacing in rooms... need upgrades. Key card kept disabling very inconvenient.

This was one of the dirtiest hotels I’ve stayed in. When we got to our room it had a weird smell and there was crumbs of food all over the table and floors. We also had no towels and no bedding for the pull out bed. When we went to talk to the front desk the person working seemed extremely annoyed we were even there so we got our towels and bedding and decided to just leave it alone. It was also 10p and we were tired from traveling. We were in town for a music festival so our options to find a new hotel weren’t likely. The air conditioning didn’t work well and when I opened the panel ants came out. Thankfully there were no bedbugs but I wouldn’t have been surprised to find them. Pieces of the shower wall were chipped off and you could see the drywall backing. My husband tried to use a treadmill one morning and the belt was off, making it unsafe to use.

We had a volleyball tournament to attend there in Kentucky. Frong desk staff was amazing. The next morning after checking in i wrapped up thr towels from the night before and asked for fresh ond they gave me everything but the body towels, they were drying. When i came back i saw housekeeping in the hallway and asked for 2 body towels. She reached in a basket, not her cart, and gave me 2 towels. I thanked her and went to my room. When i got back to the room i picked up the towels i got earlier and seen it was ants in the towel. I took the towels to housekeeping to she her and she just picked it off and flung it on the floor. She tossed the towels in that basket, yes the same basket she gave me the 2 body towels from earlier. I asked her why did she give me dirty towels and all she said was sorry. I went to the front desk to let him know and he offered to give me IHG points and a sincere apology. I will be contacting the corporate office tomorrow morning.

Kitchen setup is very nice. Room was very clean. Place was quiet

I would stay here again. The room was a little musty and the shower drain was clogged, but besides that it was pretty nice, especially for the price.

Hotel was not clean. Staff was rude when checking in. Acted like I inconvenienced them by being there. Rooms were dirty.

I spent way too much for this room. There was mold in the bathroom and it appeared to be an on going process. There were spots on the walls couldn’t tell what they were from. Bed was comfortable and the front desk was friendly. This hotel needs some TLC.

The room smelled mildewy, and they had bugs roaches they also do not offer king-size beds.

Upon entering my room, there was a used water bottle, spray bottle with cleaning solution inside, and a phone charger left on the desk area. The linen on the bed had grease stains. The staff on duty, acknowledge my concerns, but it seems as though someone had been I the room before I arrived and I was not pleased with the bedding.

My room on the 3rd floor was great but my friends, (Tommy and Carrie) room on the 2nd floor had several roaches.

The room was clean but had roaches. We let the front desk know, and was told they could spray but never did! The next day roaches were on our clothes, bed and walls!

Overall stay was good but you can really hear people in the level above.

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a place to stay for more than a few nights. Some of the rooms are bigger than others. My room wasn’t the biggest… but I was still happy with it. The room I stayed in was a handicapped accessible room (I enjoy having a bathtub & large bathroom). These rooms feel like a small apartment. You have a glass top stove with two burners, microwave, lots of cabinets and storage space, silverware, plates, bowls, pots and pans, large refrigerator and even a dishwasher. The bedroom area has of course a tv, end tables and a desk area. Underneath your tv you have drawers with lots of room. The only thing I did not like about my room is I had no control over my room temperature. There were times I was cold and times I was hot. I was given the option to switch rooms, but I had just got done packing and getting situated I did not feel like packing everything back up. This hotel is deff one of my favorites!

This property was shut down with no notice to customers. Had to relocate to downtown louisville. Not happy!

We were there for Louder than Life Music Festival. First I would like to say the desk ladies the weekend of our stay deserve a raise. The room key maker that makes your room card key was broke our whole stay. That being said, the ladies at the desk definitely got their workout in steps, because they had to walk you to your room to let you in your room. It was also when Hurricane Helene hit. They were so nice eventhough you could see how exhausted the poor women were. The staff kept plugging along and not once complained to us, eventhough you could see they were getting tired. I never really saw management during our time there to help assist th3se ladies that were getting ran to death, but the staff waited hand and foot to make sure our stay was good. The bathroom had a bit of a cigarrette smell to it, when you turned the bathroom fan on it. That wasn't anything some air feeshner didnt fix though. I did not bother those poor ladies with a little bit of a cigarette smell from the bathroom. If I ever come to Lousiville, I would stay here again solely based on how great the 2 poor ladies worked so hard. Anything we needed, they accommodated and never complained. Give those girls a raise or bonus, or make them managers because they ran that hotel during our 5 night stay there. Thank you ladies so much for being so kind.

I was not allowed to cancel my reservations days in advanced. No one would answer the phone at the hotel.

I reserved a room here 6 months prior to arriving for a music festival. They over-booked rooms and then cancelled several reservations 3 weeks prior to the stay without notification of cancellation. Asked to speak to manager, her first words were "They didn't tell you the reservation was cancelled?" so clearly there was an expectation that Hotels.com would deal with the fallout from their over-booking issue. Asked if there were other Candlewoods that they could help me reserve - especially since there were no available hotels in the area with a large music festival in town - and told no "We're not affiliated with those locations". Front desk staff said they were turning guests away all day. So in the end we were left to fend for ourselves. No follow through to make sure their guests are informed of changes to their reservations or taken care of in the event of a problem. Do not recommend staying here. And quite frankly now questioning the use of Hotels.com for future reservations given the lack of communication between the two parties.

Couldn’t tell ya anything so they’re getting full one stars across the board. This company cancelled my reservation without a call a day and a half before my stay. Which was a stay I booked months in advance. I had to select a bnb that was almost $2000 more. Which needs to be compensated due to the Candlewood Suites inability to manage their operation.

Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very kind and helpful and friendly. We were pleasantly surprised at the large size of the room and the fridge and cooktop and dishwasher! Would love to stay nexr year if our school returns for the archery nationals!

Excellent location in close proximity to the Ky state Fair grounds and the airport with easy access off the interstate

Just stayed for a night on our way up to Wisconsin. Did the Mega Cavern, which was only 6 minutes away so it was super convenient. Right off the highway so you have access to lots of stuff but it was also in a quiet area. Room was clean, kitchen was stocked. But the ice maker never produced ice by the time we checked out in the AM. They did not have another ice option in the hotel because all rooms have ice makers in the fridge, but ours did not work. Still would recommend!

I’m a great location right off the highway just minutes from the airport and fair grounds. But yet the property is very quiet. Super clean smells great when you walk in the door. Staff is super friendly

This place was so bad, we ended up not staying. First our room reservation was changed. The workers said someone who no longer works there probably did it because she was leaving. With the hotel being sold out, they could not honor what we reserved. The ladies at the front desk were nice and really attempted to get Expedia to assist in finding something else. The hotel itself sits in the middle of nothing. The inside is not at all what a Candlewood normally looks like. It’s more of an extended stay for transitioning people, truck drivers and workers. I would not feel safe with my daughter there. We ended up finding another hotel on our own. This was very disappointing from Candlewood and Expedia.

This is an older Candlewood property that has been well kept. Still it is not new. The free laundry room will make you want to gladly pay. It is tucked away in a nice quiet residential area and that is a big plus versus the other guys.

The staff here was so friendly! Everyone I met made me feel welcome and at ease! The room was spacious, and the kitchen has utensils, cups, plates, pots and pans etc. They all looked to be clean although I always just wash before use. The bathrooms had shampoo conditioner soaps and lotion. Lots of closet and storage space. There is a strongish floral smell that hits you when you walk in but that’s better than smelling bad! I saw a gym, laundry room, and snack room. Bed was comfortable enough and did the job. The counter was great for cooking or doing makeup and there is plenty of mirror space for 4 people to get ready at the same time! Location wise it is close to the highway which is very convenient! I would 100% stay here again if I were ever in Louisville.

Very clean, comfortable bed, quiet, no breakfast but has a well stocked kitchenette.

We pulled into some very sketchy people all around building smoking. Once inside smelled like pot. Room was nice/clean. No breakfast unless you bought each item in a locked room. Just not what we expected.

The first couple days Fri and Sat were very nice- staff was kind and accommodating. On Sunday when I was leaving my room, the housekeepers were in the hall cursing and complaining about management. When I informed the front desk associate he said that management was not good and that his supervisor could T be reached. His supervisor worked on Saturday- I saw him. Also you have no cream or sugar for the coffee- had to go get my own from Dunkin’. Also, you need an ice machine- I know there are ones in the room but it takes a while to make ice. Finally the mattress and pillows were horrible- rip in the comforter on the bed and rip in the shower curtain. The body wash in the shower was empty- at least there was soap.
