This would be a perfectly fine budget option but the broken elevator and one small jug of coffee for the entire place isn’t great. The stairs are a killer to get to the top floor with luggage. You really need to get the elevator repaired or let people know in advance that it is out of action.

Great area, not a bad place for what you pay for. The elevator was down but after eating all the good food Portland has, I guess a little stair climbing didn’t hurt. The air conditioner was the real champ of this place. We happen to be in Portland during a triple digit heatwave, the a/c was perfect and never gave up. The area is great and is very walkable. I recommend checking out revolution hall rooftop bar for great views, which is about a 10 minute walk.

Convenient to restaurants and other businesses, and not too far from our family. Basic facilities suited our needs with one exception-- we missed having a coffee maker in the room.

Overall ok stay, close proximity to a lot of places and some great restaurants. It was also at a great price and free parking. The only 3 issues we had there - The elevator broke down in the middle of the night and we had to take the stairs . Also had the firefighters come in to get us out of the elevator which broke down. The staff helped facilitate but they appeared to be shortstaffed . Definitely not anyone’s fault, but speaks to the property needing a little bit more upkeep and maintenance. The parking though free, is not guaranteed. People who know about the free parking but not necessarily patrons , randomly park here which may lead to lack of spots if you come late on a weekend( we were here on Friday night). The staff did inform us about the same so we were able to wait till someone left their spot. It’s also a little noisy but we’re not light sleepers so didn’t have an issue with that. But someone who may be a light sleeper maybe disturbed by the noise from other patrons or just general Portland downtown

Lots of free parking. Modern updates to an older building. Facility was well cared for and well maintained and very affordable.Seemed like a fairly quiet neighborhood with sit down food within walking distance. Only negative was no coffee in the room.

This is a sweet hotel in a great location. Conveniently located near the Moda Center and within minutes to most of Portland. There are parts of the hotel that have been updated and are new and then parts, like the carpet, that are not. I felt safe even on Friday night when the near by nightclub was happening. They do say that parking is free but based on availability. When we came back after a concert at the Moda center the parking lot was full, but on the street parking was easy to find. The front desk people were efficient and pleasant. My one caveat is that the rooms are wicked small. My kids and I all said that we would all stay here again! Great value for the price!

Good location and great bang for your buck. Clean and comfortable. Elevator was broken, so going up 2 floors was a little bit of a hassle with all of our bags, but not a deal breaker.

Room was ok, but housekeeping was almost non-existent. Didn't make bed on day one and second day didn't even bother servicing the room.

An aging facility found across the river from downtown Portland. I booked the stay for three friends from out of town, and on entering the room we immediately noticed adult-sized handprints on the headboard of one of the beds in a, suggestive arrangement. The headboard was mildly dusty and the prints were due to human oil/sweat. We all know what happens in hotel rooms but the visual reminder was not ideal. We had to leave immediately to make the next stop on our trip but I called the front desk at 3:45pm to ask if the headboard could be cleaned. They told me the people in charge of cleaning had left at 3pm and they wouldn’t be able to clean until 10am the next day. I have a friend in town so the path of least resistance for us was borrowing cleaning equipment and doing it ourselves. We checked for bed bugs, cleaned the bathroom, and disinfected all high contact touch surfaces. I found food between the mattress and wall but otherwise most things came away clean. My friends insisted they were fine staying at Eastside Lodge, but obviously I wish cleaning the whole room hadn’t been necessary at the start of their stay. I understand oversights can happen, but more assistance from the front desk would have improved our overall experience. Other issues included the elevator was broken, the room smelled musty, the internet had bizarre age restrictions (didn’t allow movies with swearing), and the shower was clogged with old hair.

There was 2 large stains on the ground near the beds and the ironing board also had lot of stains, quite dirty!

The person that checked us in was nice and helpful. The first room we checked into reeked of cigarette smoke then we got put into another room and there was mold in the shower, fingerprints above the bedframe, half of the lights not working and the ones that did let out an egregious noise and there was hair in the bathroom. Top it off the elevator was not working but to be fair they said it just happened. There was also a decent amount of noise around 12 in the morning coming from surrounding area. Had struggles with the keypad and had to get a new card one time which was very inconvenient especially at 10:30 at night. The ceiling seemed unsafe as it looked like it was caving in. Again the front desk people were good solid people.

Room was stale, smelled of smoke and dirty. Stains on headboard, lamps, shower. Hair in shower and sink. Staff was pleasant and quick.

Clean enough for a budget place. Some things are kinda weird. I’ve stayed multiple times and there’s a wall scones light, with a floor lamp right below it. The room I was in this time the chair was partially blocking the entrance. Sheets are clean, bathrooms clean although the shower pans are extremely stained and dingy looking. Pretty much every time I’m here I find long black head hairs stuck to the towels. (Maybe have the laundry people wear hair nets)

It's good if you don't plan on spending a ton of time in your room. It's got the basic amenities, a decent bed that is clean and the fridge and microwave are nice to have. I really enjoyed having a vanity space to get ready in without having to stand in the bathroom or sit at a desk with terrible lighting. The room was very clean, but there is definitely some damage to the room. The toilet paper holder was loose and a pain to try and use, there is water damage and possibly mold on the ceiling in bathroom. The shower door does not fully seal so there is water everywhere after a shower. The shower is also very small, was difficult to wash body and shave. The external property was clean and nice and the staff were all so kind and friendly. Parking was easy to use and we never had a hard time finding parking. The area is walkable and accessible and close by to restaurants, bars and entertainment. For the price, you really can't find much better in Portland and it's a good central location

The only good things about this place were the location and the gentlemen who checked us in. The room was stuffy and smelled like stale cigarettes. The bed was clean but incredibly uncomfortable, we could hear the springs 'pinging' as we moved around. The toilet had obviously not been cleaned (at least not well) because there was something stuck to the seat that I scraped off with tissue. I asked the gentleman at the front desk if I could have a couple of the Lysol wipes that I saw behind the counter so I could clean the toilet myself. He was very kind and patient (I don't remember his name), but that was literally the only good thing about this place. A major remodel is necessary if I'm ever going to stay here again. For over $100 I feel like a clean toilet and comfortable bed isn't too much to ask.

Could hear people talking in a normal voice in the next room, lack of insulation or soundproofing. Free parking on the plus side

The room was spacious and comfortable. Electrical outlets with USB plugs was appreciated. The hotel is on a busy street and you can occasionally hear trains at night.

For the price, it’s not bad. The rooms are what they are. The location is great, with lots of cool shops and restaurants nearby, and it’s about a 30-minute walk to downtown. The bed was comfortable. It could have been cleaner, but if you’re just looking for a place to sleep that’s inexpensive and aren’t expecting anything fancy, this is the place. It is a bit loud, so I’d recommend earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Would I stay here again? Maybe. The only reviews I’d say are true are the ones about the key card stopping working.

The motel itself was great for the price, with a tidy bathroom, clean room, fridge and microwave, parking, etc. The neighborhood has some bars and my stay was on a Friday night, so it was noisy. But the facility itself was good.

For the price it’s a decent motel, small room. Pretty clean except some of the furniture and lamps had scratches, ripped lamp shades, scratched nightstands and desk. The bed was comfortable, the free parking was nice, and it was quiet when we went between Monday-Thursday. Again for the price it was much better than a motel 6 or anything like that. We would come back and stay.

Room was clean and spacious. The air conditioning was reasonably quiet and the room newly renovated, save for the desk chair whose seat was badly worn. The refrigerator worked and operated quietly. The only problem was that both the bed and pillows were too firm for me. I sleep on my side so I like a medium firm bed and pillows. This was like sleeping on a cushioned floor mat. Not terrible, but not great. They should add a pillow top extension to the beds and offer a selection of pillows that include softer pillows. Then this would be a perfect spot.

close to places to eat & drink, free parking lot was safe. staff kind. coffee in lobby, ice machine. rooms are just really old, thick paint, floors need replacing, beds are rock hard. street noise but you get what you pay for.

Stayed at the suites for 6 days in Oct 2024. Our room keys had to be replaced due to accidental deactivation almost every day of the trip, and one manager yelled at a member of our party and nearly refused to replace the card. The iron in my room was broken, the shower flooded the bathroom floor and the towel rack was bashed in as if someone had hit it with a sledgehammer. There is certainly a lack of attention to detail in this space but it was functional for a bare bones cheap-ish trip to PDX.

My wife, had to sleep with her clothes on, since the heater was not working and Freddy (the night clerk) refused to give her a blanket. The manager Jay refused to give my wife her tennis shoes, she forgot in the room, she had to abandon after one disastrous night, and she had to find a better hotel.

Checked in around 11pm to find no available parking spaces due to them being sold out. Talked to the guy at the desk and he said that there wasn’t a second parking lot, but that it would be okay for us to park overnight in front of the lobby. He was super friendly and I appreciated his flexibility with the parking situation as it was late and we didn’t want to find parking in an unknown city after a day of driving. The room was clean, had convenient outlets, and bed was comfortable. We would definitely stay again!

I loved the gentleman at the front desk. He said he works a lot on Sundays but was covering. He was accommodating and friendly. Loved him. Wish I knew his name. Thank you.

The check-in staff was amazing. The checkout staff needed personality. The room was generally clean, and the elevator needed to be moped. Housekeeping was friendly and attentive to our needs.

Check in was quick. I checked in for both the rooms we reserved. At 1 am, another guest entered one of rooms and didnt notice there were people in the room until they were all the way at the foot of the bed. The next morning the front desk was very unhelpful and unapologetic. They stated the keys for the other guests were programmed wrong. That doesn't make sense because why would those other guests even try our door. The also said that it wasnt registered in the system that I checked into the room. We got room keys and parking passes for both rooms and paid the room deposit for both rooms so I'm not sure how that got missed. We felt extremely unsafe after another guest entered our to the point we didnt want to stay another night. We all slept poorly after that. There was no solution or even apology from the staff just "it was the night shifts fault". We spent 2 nights at the property. Housekeeping did not come to clean the room (and no the do not distrub sign was not on the door). When you check in and register your vehicle, you receive a parking pass. The fine print states parking is not guaranteed. There isnt alot of parking around the area so be cautious because you might not get a spot.

There was a problem with the toilet in my room and they immediately changed rooms. Very attentive. They seemed to really care at the front desk.

4 separate times I couldn’t access my room because the card or door’s card reader was faulty. Might as well have not had a key at all, needed help from staff every time this happened and each time they reprogrammed my card yet issue remained. Nothing was done about it. Towels were stained and roomed was musty and smelled. Hope this was my room only but it was absolutely not worth the money paid and partially spoiled my stay in Portland. Will never return.

There are cool restaurants and bars nearby, but the best so far is the hospitality that I received at the check-in from Memo! Warm welcome and very helpful when I had questions

We were in town for a festival, and all the places closer were so expensive. I figured for the good price, this place would either be in a bad neighborhood or not very nice. I was wrong about both, and so pleasantly surprised! The room was simple and exactly what we needed. They gave us a list of walkable restaurants in the area. We parked in the lot, which was helpful during the show. We easily walked to the venue and back afterwards. Everything was clean. I'd definitely stay there again!

Unbeknownst to us at the time of booking, there is a night club adjacent to the property. The bass was extremely loud and the noise could not be shut out even with the fan on at full blast. And it went on until 2am. We had to check out after the first night and book another hotel to actually get some sleep. The front desk claimed we'd be reimbursed for the other two nights, but have received nothing. We were expecting the no-frills motel experience, considering the price. The room was clean-ish, with a strong cleaning product scent that did not dispel. The room was not fully lit, the ceiling had a poorly patched up crack. So, nothing amazing, but we didn't see any bugs and the staff seemed friendly enough. If not for the extremely loud night club, we would've probably toughed it out for the full three nights.

The Eastside Lodge is a basic motel ideally situated in the center of Portland and very reasonably priced. The location and price make up for the average decor and comfort of the room. Not a romantic place, but a convenient one to go explore the city, on foot (it's easy to find bars, restaurants, etc. just a few minutes away) or by car. And parking is free, which is a great asset.

Great central location to many things! Good walkability. Only bad thing are the amount of homeless in the area!

I have stayed here 3 years in a row when visiting Portland. It is an older hotel (or technically motel?) but is pretty well maintained and clean. I love the location on Burnside -- it is a safe area with a lot around it, plus you can walk to the bridge and cross over into downtown on foot. It's tough to beat it rate-wise when comparing to other central PDX hotels. The hotel was at capacity, so parking spots were tough to come by. But the staff was helpful in allowing makeshift spots to park overnight in. As mentioned, the rooms are dated but get the job done. When I sat on the edge of the bed, it sunk really deep, but when I actually laid on it closer to the middle, it was comfortable. The shower is cramped and there is nowhere to put the soap because the metal holders are gross. It would be nice if they installed triangular shelves in the far corner. The A/C worked well as it was hotter than usual during my stay. Pro tip: go get Thai from the food cart in the parking lot across the street. It's delicious!

I was very pleased to find this quaint, comfortable, clean hotel for our 1 night stay. It's older and shows signs of age but it's clean, and well maintained. The area it's located in isn't the greatest but on the hotel property it felt safe and secure. I was disappointed that there was no coffee pot in the room. Everything else was great! The bed was extremely comfortable! I will definitely stay here again!

Very clean, the owners very responsive to questions or requests. The neighborhood was full of cafes, restaurants, bars, grocery stores, and just a few blocks from public transportation. I'll definitely stay here next time I come to Portland.

Eastside Lodge is the quintessential no-frills stay if you want a great location on a budget. Yes, it's an old motel, but they've kept in good condition and do a great job of keeping it clean. Free parking is also a nice perk in the city, especially when the room rate is so reasonable. Burnside, as well as the surrounding area, is full of great restaurants and a nice overall vibe -- you can feel safe walking near the hotel. This is my 2nd time staying here and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Pro tip: go get Thai from the food cart across the street!
