Beautiful and well maintained resort. Plenty of activities for all ages at the resort. There's a mini golf course and two beautiful swimming pools. Service was excellent. Will definitely stay again. Thanks for being awesome West Gate!

The property was fine. We were kindly welcomed. It was a good value for the price. There was no breakfast available but there was a mini-fridge and microwave. The room was clean, but a bit worn and outdated. The bathroom needed some help. The walls were thin and we had noisy neighbors 5/6 nights we were there. The weight room was nicely appointed. We ran out of time to visit the pool.

Beware that they sell timeshares. Every time you enter the lobby, they approach you. Use the back/side door. There is not cleaning daily, which is fine for us. We were there 3 nights. I asked for towels at 8am and still did not have them at 4pm. Later i saw a towel closet 2 doors down from our room. The studio room is very small. Smaller than a typical hotel room. There is a mini frig, mini sink and microwave. Also a chair and coffee table which we moved a few feet so we could get out of bed without hitting it. We were jn a newly renovated toom (facing the Goodwill and Staples parki ng lot) which had nice decor that matched the historic hotel. The pool area is simple and nice. I had hoped for a little more space in our room, a decent view and definitely did not expect the daily sales pitch. Not a bad stay but just not great.

Overall okay stay. The room I was given smelled like body odor. I requested a bottle of air freshener which made it more tolerable. Unfortunately the windows did not have screens so I could not open them to air out the room without letting bugs in. Would highly recommend the staff do more to ensure the rooms do not develop a noticeable negative scent. Other than that, the experience was pleasant.

The room smelled like fumigation spray. Later, we found a roach in the tub, which may explain the smell. There was so much ice buildup in the minifridge that we couldn't put much in there. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

By the way I found an amazing black dress the property was very nice but the room I was in was dated it smelled like mold the carpet was dirty and it was very much dated. If they added better Lighting in the room change the carpet and add some type of dehumidifier,it would improve the quality of the room greatly

Likes: really enjoyed the proximity of this location to restaurants, attractions, etc. Easy walking distance to food, groceries, coffee. The price was very nice, including the pools. I finally was happy with the comfort of a hotel bed and the pillows! Having a remote for the A/C was also clutch. Loved the size of the mini fridge and the Monday historical reenactment in the Grand Room. Dislikes: bathroom was outdated, with some lose shower knobs. The sink could have been deeper to allow the filling of reusable water bottles. Lastly, found a dying cockroach in my room the last morning there. Which isn’t surprising given some of the properties have doors that go directly to the outdoors. Would I stay again? Probably…

Checked in and went to dinner come back and the room was hot so I checked the AC and it was absolutely full of mold. Checked out immediately, the front desk was very understanding but said it was up to there corporate office to work with Expedia for a refund. They refuse to issue a refund after only staying there for less than 3 hours. If you care about your health or money do not stay here.

We stayed in the colonial area which was great because you can park right outside of your room. The room was very big and the tv was huge. Front desk staff were all very nice.

Our room was in the cottages (not the building pictured in the listing) and was cramped for two people with luggage.The walls were thin and conversation in adjacent room could easily be heard. Fortunately, only one of the adjacent rooms was occupied and they retired at a reasonable hour. The corner shelf in the shower was not secured to the wall so toiletries tipped onto the floor.and water leaked past the door onto the bathroom floor.I didn't realize that I needed to request housekeeping, not a big deal for a two-night stay. On the plus side, the hotel is about 1.3 miles from Merchant Square and was a pleasant walk down Richmond Road..

The room was small and pretty crowded with furniture and appliances, but the bed was very comfortable. Considering we checked in 10p.m.-ish and out at 10a.m., the bed being comfortable was the most important part of the stay. The shower was great--large, totally glass, good water pressure and consistent temperature. The bathroom sink was way too small--no way really to comfortably wash your face. That was the biggest downside; the only other inconvenience/annoyance was lack of outlets to plug in devices. The heater was great, the night was relatively quiet, and we mostly enjoyed our time there.

We made reservations through Expedia to travel with 4 chihuahuas. They verified everything. I call the hotel myself on the 22nd of July. I was told by the front desk staff everything was verified EVEN the chihuahuas. Well when we got there the desk staff did not honor the reservation. Not only that when my husband disagreed with them , they banned him from the hotel and property. They did not care that we had driven 8 hours for vacation or that we had no place to stay. The overall manager came and as much said oh well too bad even after i showed her where everything was verified. Tried calling expedia and it was no help. NEVER AGAIN !!!!

This was our second time staying here and we came back because we loved it so much. However, we got sucked into what was supposed to be an hour presentation about a time share that turned into 4 hours. We had one day of vacation here and it was ruined because of this. Don’t fall for it!

We paid for a room with a jacuzzi. When we arrived we were told we were upgraded to a two bedroom suite with NO jacuzzi. We said no, we wanted the room with the jacuzzi, which is what we paid for. We were told they were all sold out of those rooms and that they could get us in one of those the next day. The next day came and the front desk worker was extremely rude to us when we asked to be switched to the room we paid for. Do. It recommend this place as you cannot be sure that you will get what you paid for. And you will be treated with disrespect when you ask for what you paid for!

Beware that they sell timeshares. Every time you enter the lobby, they approach you. Use the back/side door. There is not cleaning daily, which is fine for us. We were there 3 nights. I asked for towels at 8am and still did not have them at 4pm. Later i saw a towel closet 2 doors down from our room. The studio room is very small. Smaller than a typical hotel room. There is a mini frig, mini sink and microwave. Also a chair and coffee table which we moved a few feet so we could get out of bed without hitting it. We were jn a newly renovated toom (facing the Goodwill and Staples parki ng lot) which had nice decor that matched the historic hotel. The pool area is simple and nice. I had hoped for a little more space in our room, a decent view and definitely did not expect the daily sales pitch. Not a bad stay but just not great.

The entire staff was friendly and professional. Our Villa was immaculate and the bed was extremely comfortable. The location was centrally located to W&M, restaurants and shops. We enjoyed our stay.

From the advertisement picture, I expected a big pillared red brick hotel. Instead the rooms we were in were in some cottage- like buildings spread out behind among some nice outdoor spaces. While this was unexpected—probably not to people who went through the website more completely- the rooms were lovely, easily accessible from where the car was parked and had everything we needed. Staff was very helpful. Location is A+.

The room. Itself was good but not what I expected. We had to drive 3 or 4 minutes from the check-in building to get to our room. If we wanted to use the pool we would have to drive back to the main buildings and find parking so if the pool is important to you book a room nearby it.

Our room was very clean, so clean the fumes from the cleaners were making me feel sick but I just contacted the front desk and they moved us straight away. I enjoyed the mini golf and chess. The hot tub was small and not very hot. I was shocked to learn breakfast wasn't included unless you sat through a timeshare presentation so I'm not sure I'd call this a resort. No in house food options either. There is "room service" but it's clearly just Uber eats once you pull up the menu. Service was great but I can get a similar experience for cheaper with better amenities at another hotel and not be bombarded with people trying to sell me a time sure after checking in.

The thermostat remote control was not user friendly. 1 night we got it to work, the next night we did not. Please add directions for use. Also, not sure how things work as this is a timeshare site. But I went in to get some coffee at the front desk and it was cold. When I told someone they told me to microwave it. I would think they would check it and offer to make fresh.

Unit reminded me of a cottage. It was very quaint and quiet. A very nice place to just relax and rest King bed was nice and comfortable; loved the upgraded bathroom. Stayed two nights. Dining options were 5 minutes away. Cracker Barrel and Golden Carrol satisfied our dinner both nights. Will come back again.

Lovely spot that was very close to where I needed to be so could walk. Rooms were clean with a full kitchen. Comfortable beds, nice A/C, great fitness room. It's more of a "motel" so people are walking by your room so curtains can't be opened unless you want everybody to see in.
