This hotel was under remodel with limited options. The power went out and due to our room was on the 4th floor and the option to get to the lobby was dangerous. The hotel did not have any emergency lighting so stepping out in the hall to find the stairways was completely dark. once we found the stairway, it was also not lit and we used the our cell phones to get down the 4 flights. The stairs were littered with garbage and total trip traps.

The property itself was not well maintained. Only one elevator worked therefore we had to wait twice as long for an elevator to reach the 4th floor where we were staying. There was only one ice maker working on the fourth floor. We went out for the day and the housekeeper came into our room to provide us with fresh towels and when one of my family members went to use the toliet, we found a very "fresh" NOT so nice surprise left in there for us. The was smell of pot and smoke throughout the hallways, even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking hotel. The first night we were there, there was an "okay" pub and grill and then the next night it was closed permanently. I complained about the toliet incident and was told all they could do was talk to the housekeeping manager and could not give me credit for all the issues. Not even an apology. I give this place 6 months under this new ownership.

Restaurant and bar were closed up. (Nothing mentioned on their website), The sheets on one of the beds were dirty. (Hopefully it was just pizza sauce!) Supposedly the manager couldn’t be reached (Although the desk clerk had two conversations with her while I stood there) Dining area carpet was absolutely filthy. Heated pool??? It was more like a polar plunge! This use to be a pristine place to stay until it went under new management.Needless to say, I will never stay there again nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

The pool deck is extraordinarily slippery/flat out DANGEROUS and my son fell down landing on his butt and shoulder. Both his butt and shoulder are very sore and he may end up going in for X-rays to make sure his tail bone is not broken/shoulder is not seriously injured.

This trip was so the kids could swim in the pool, and it was FREEZING!! The kids swam for an hour before their lips were blue. It was about 20 degrees outside so maybe that’s why it was so cold, but the temperature in the pool room was even cold and I was wearing 2 long sleeve shirts. Breakfast was fine, but there were a lot of issues with running low on different things. The staff were very nice. Probably will never stay again since we choose hotels based on the pool for our kids.

I've been staying at this hotel periodically for last 20 years for our family reunion. It's been several different names, but the building has remained. The signs posted show that the building is under construction with updating, which it definitely needs. We stayed in the 4th floor and they had been painting recently as our room numbers were affixed with blue painters tape. Inside, everything was clean and updated so no concerns with our room. They did not have a roll away bed for my 6-year-old son so I had to bring a fold out cot for him since we're a family of 5. The hotel has a "fitness center" which is just a couple of cardio machines thrown in a room. The atrium had a morning breakfast buffet included (just ok) but every single table was wobbly. The pool used way to much chlorine and had a side drain that wasn't draining so a moat formed from all the splashing. The bathrooms in the pool hadn't been cleaned in I don't know how long since there was a black ring around the toilet. No towels were restocked. I did hear a staff member complain (I was walking by) at some point about the workload from being understaffed. I could definitely tell. I only saw 3-4 employees all weekend. The attached restaurant is now a Mexican restaurant and they were very accommodating for our large group and the food was pretty good for the area. All in all, the hotel needs some work and help, so hopefully it will be revived when I'm back in 2 years.

The hotel was notvery clean. The staff did their jobs but were not friendly ordressed what i would consider appropriate to run a hospitality business. We did not eat at the hotel. It just did not seem like appetizing surroundings.

They say it is being renovated when you get there, but it was not posted on Hotels.com when we booked, The place is dirty, mold in the bathrooms, and while it did have a pathetic breakfast. there was almost no food and no one attending to the area. I want to add over the past 7-8 years we have stayed here once every 3 months and it is just getting wprst every time

Nice place, fairly clean, friendly staff. They could use to put a trash can in the bathroom, and the water pressure is weak. (Laugh if you want to, but that will always cost a hotel points in my book)

We requested a nonsmoking room and our room smelled like cigarette smoke. We were able to move to another room, but it was on the ground floor, next to the atrium. There are large glass windows that take up the whole wall. The noise is nonstop from the pool and people in the atrium. There was a group of people sitting right next to our room and the curtains didn’t shut all the way, so they could look into our room all night. The bathtub faucet and drain were both broken. The toilet seat was broken. The bathroom was dirty with stains on the doors that looked they have never been wiped down. The majority of the outlets in the room did not work and some had tape over them. Overall a disappointing stay.

This hotel is dated, and smells old. The lobby is hot, as are the hallways. The carpets have not been cleaned in a while. I stepped into the shower then back out into the room to get shampoo. When I stepped back in the shower I had muddy foot prints. Half the rooms face the pool. All the pool noise is made louder by the shape of the roof. The pool rules state the pool is for registered guests only, but there was a pool party for 30+ local kids. They were being dropped off by their parents. The breakfast is powdered eggs, sausage links, cold biscuits and gravy. There is cut fruit if you get there early, like at 6am. Same goes for milk for cereal and juice. There is plenty of bland coffee. You may not leave the breakfast area with any food. The binder in the rooms are out of date. The onsite eatery is Mexican, not a grill and seafood place. The elevators are well used and one has no display for the floor numbers. There was some sort of car meet up in the parking lot that had nothing to do with the hotel, but took up most of the parking spaces. Alton has had better days, and so has this hotel.

We had to go back to check in because bed in room they assigned us was unmade and there was a used towel on the bathroom sink. Pool was closed because “under maintenance.” Room needed deep clean. Heat coming through our closed window on 80• day was crazy hot. Would not recommend Mexican restaurant on site. Hot breakfast was good. Shower was good. Floor was clean. Bed was very comfortable.

The hotel is ok . It is undergoing renovations. The biggest complaint was the temperature of the room. It was 74 degrees even though we set the temperature at 67. The air was very stale with no movement. We slept with just a sheet over us.

Overall this hotel was fairly nice. It was clean and the staff was friendly. Our room's curtains were partially broken and let too much light in, and there wasn't much sound insulation as we could hear everything happening in the hallway as if it were in our room and could hear the next room over as well.

It was so loud and kids in the lobby getting coffee in middle of night, could hear everything in our room including people in the pool. Had a guy beating on our door at 2am looking for someone else. Had to get a drink at desk and their bottles of soda are $4 each and flat, no vending machine. Was not impressed at all, will definitely go elsewhere next time.

The staff were the stars of the show here. Everyone was SUPER nice, helpful, efficient, and kind. Beds and pillows comfy, everything was really clean. The only downside here is little to no soundproofing between rooms or to prevent hallway noise. It’s a hotel-you’re around other people—I don’t have high expectations of having total quiet at all. But I literally heard the next door put the the toilet seat down. And every conversation, door opening, closing etc. So clean, comfy, super nice staff (give them a raise, they deserve it) but whoever updated the facility didn’t consider much in the way of soundproofing.

Nice Hotel, Pleasant stay Only downside was the pillows were a little small and the pool did not appear to be open but just came at the wrong time Overall very pleasant stay though.

Nice Hotel and super clean room, and extremely awesome staff. I forgot my ipod in our room and did not realize it till hours after my husband and I checked out and the cleaning service turned it in to lost and found at customer service. Not too many hotels would do that. For that alone to the employee who turned it in thank you and you should get a raise. Honesty is extremely rare now a days.

The hotel was great. CeeCee at the front desk is so nice. Now for the rant that has nothing to do with the hotel: EXPEDIA - get your act together and pay these hotels so people can check in quicker! I booked this hotel an hour before I got there and it still took another 30 minutes before Expedia paid the hotel so I could check in!

Registration staff was excellent. Night staff was rude. Had a group of adults together playing cards and talking (not loud or excessive). Told at 10:00 on a Saturday night to go to bed. Everyone must leave the lobby and outside patio. No one was loud. We booked together to visit and rudely denied. Told them in advance.

The biggest disappointment was that they did not want to give me two rooms with double beds that I reserved. I was at the counter for 30 min at least. I believe I was over charged as well. They are remodeling , so it is not the cleanest.

They were friendly. I have stayed there before but it’s seems they have let the property go. The first room I was in the lights kept flickering and could not get hot water in the shower. And when I did report it to the gentleman at the front desk I was just met with a stare before he finally asked if I would like to switch rooms. Everyone else I encountered at the desk was very friendly and helpful. The people were great the room not so much.

The hotel was great, Clean and the staff was friendly! The free breakfast was amazing! And the kids loved the pool! There’s a dollar general close to it which was perfect for the little things we forgot to pack and there was a cool Robert Wadlow Statue close to the hotel as well. Overall it was a 10/10 for us

It was a great experience. It was not hard to find, the staff were very friendly and the room was clean and cozy. The breakfast wasn’t the best, the biscuits were rock hard. They are remodeling but that doesn’t take away much from the experience. Will definitely stay there again

I have found this to be the best hotel (and chain) in the greater Alton area. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The facilities are recently remodeled/updated, and it is a comfortable environment. The restaurant has good food and a great tap list. This is one of few hotels where you still get a complimentary drink ticket when checking in. You can't go wrong staying here.

This hotel is dated, and smells old. The lobby is hot, as are the hallways. The carpets have not been cleaned in a while. I stepped into the shower then back out into the room to get shampoo. When I stepped back in the shower I had muddy foot prints. Half the rooms face the pool. All the pool noise is made louder by the shape of the roof. The pool rules state the pool is for registered guests only, but there was a pool party for 30+ local kids. They were being dropped off by their parents. The breakfast is powdered eggs, sausage links, cold biscuits and gravy. There is cut fruit if you get there early, like at 6am. Same goes for milk for cereal and juice. There is plenty of bland coffee. You may not leave the breakfast area with any food. The binder in the rooms are out of date. The onsite eatery is Mexican, not a grill and seafood place. The elevators are well used and one has no display for the floor numbers. Didn't know before getting there that they were under remodel. Plus the swimming pool was closed for the remodel as well. Otherwise great location and the Mexican restaurant was amazing.

Restaurant and bar were closed up. (Nothing mentioned on their website), The sheets on one of the beds were dirty. (Hopefully it was just pizza sauce!) Supposedly the manager couldn’t be reached (Although the desk clerk had two conversations with her while I stood there) Dining area carpet was absolutely filthy. Heated pool??? It was more like a polar plunge! This use to be a pristine place to stay until it went under new management.Needless to say, I will never stay there again nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

The room was nice, they had workers fixing and remodeling while we were there. That was nice to see. Only issue we had with the room was some light bulbs were just gone, the water pressure was terrible, and the walk in shower bar that keeps main glass secure wasn't attached to the wall. Our biggest issue was the pool being closed. We were never told prior to us getting there that the main reason for us to stay in a hotel was not going to be available the whole week. It is safe to say we were upset. The breakfast was nice though, good rounded selection.

Everything was great except that the soap dispensers in the showers were empty which for myself it was a big deal because I brought soap from home but it kinda hindered my guest who swam from being able to shower. Other than that I enjoyed my stay!
