The Nassau Inn in Princeton, offers a welcoming stay with a touch of local charm: - Upon arrival, the front desk staff greeted us with a delightful chocolate cookie, setting a warm tone. - We booked two rooms, and the front desk staff knew our bookings and kindly placed our rooms next to each other. We are so thankful for their help! - They provided clear instructions for parking, which is a convenient perk—using a Nassau Inn card key, you can park in any nearby garage (like Hulfish just 100 ft away or Chambers Street) with a flat $20 nightly fee billed to your room. We started at Hulfish Garage but switched to Chambers Street Garage for its proximity to the Princeton campus tour meet point at the Admission Information Center, 36 University Place, Princeton, NJ 08540. - The hotel has undergone a renovation, featuring modern decor that feels fresh yet cozy. The lobby, though smaller than those in some contemporary hotels, adds to its intimate appeal. - For a quick salad, the front desk directed us to Olives, easily reachable via a shortcut alley to Witherspoon Street, then a right turn. Olives impressed with its bakery, cold pasta salad, Greek salad, and variety of fruits—perfect for a light meal. - The hotel’s location is a major plus, being steps away from numerous eateries, making it an excellent base for exploring Princeton.

Having grown up in Princeton, we love the location of the Nassau Inn and the facility. The historic hotel is beautiful and our room was a delight. The gym was very bare bones but who needs it when you have the town of Princeton to walk around? That all said, the service was very mixed overall, both in attitude and actual responsiveness. Not anything awful but management could use a major refresher course in hospitality. There is no competition for the Nassau Inn in the center of town at least not at the moment, so there really is no incentive to improve. Despite service being subpar, we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Room was spacious and clean but felt like a generic chain motel. Sparsely furnished and cheap feeling. No robe, plastic cups and no fridge. Great location in the heart of town. Expected a more boutique type hotel for the price and historic building.

The Nassau Inn offers classic accomodations in a historic university town with convenient shopping, dining and access points. This older but quaint property has ample guest rooms to satisfy any criteria, various meeting rooms, dining and bar facilities and is literally surrounded by lovely boutique shops.

Can’t beat the convenience and the historic charm, but the lack of amenities surprised me from our stay last year. Mediocre front desk assistance, I don’t care attitude. Issues with parking pass, and couldn’t get out of the parking garage. The issue was resolved when I asked for a new programmed card.

The property is ideally located in the heart of downtown Princeton which makes it perfect for getting to campus and all the restaurants. The property itself is dated, the rooms are small, the elevators even smaller, and there are few amenities inside the room. You stay at this place for the location only, which could not be better if you want to be at the center of everything and don't have a car.

Courteous staff, clean room

My room, specifically the bathroom, were not very clean. Hair on the walls and floors and bathroom door was dirty. The pillowcases on the bed were dirty so I ended up just removing them all from the bed.

We stumbled across the Nassau Inn at the last minute, and are glad we stayed there. Great location and parking pass was much appreciated. Room was large and clean. Hotel is a bit dated, but very nice stay regardless. Restaurants are walking distance and safe srea.

Location, location, location. The Nassau Inn is a five-minute walk from Richardson Auditorium at Princeton University where the concert that I was attending was playing. I travel alone. I feel very safe at the Nassau Inn, and in Princeton. Walking back to the hotel at 10p is not a problem. The hotel is quiet and clean. The bed was very comfortable; the bed linens were spotless and soft. I had a good night's sleep and woke to enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee from a cart in the lobby.

It was a good location but the place was a bit old and it could be cleaner and in better condition.

First time staying here; booked for location. I am stunned at the dirty and shabby condition of the room. Silverfish on the bathroom floor. Dirty grout, filthy corners, carpet stains, old AC unit with broken bottom and exceedingly loud. Hotel was booked solid for the night with a wedding going on, so as long as people don't demand something better, nothing will change.

We stayed at the Nassau Inn for two nights and it was a terrible experience. For context, my partner and I are both first responders in our early 20s—respectful, clean, and responsible. Despite that, we were treated like children from the start. They refused to let us use our own credit card without “parental permission,” even though we are adults and it was our card. The staff’s attitude was dismissive and condescending, as if our age meant we didn’t belong there. The first room we were given was shocking. It looked nothing like the pictures online. The sheets had hair all over them, the floor was dirty (even under the furniture), and the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. The entire space was cramped and run down. Only after we complained were we moved to another room—which they insisted was “not an upgrade.” Funny enough, this second room actually looked like the one advertised online. It was cleaner overall, though the sink was cracked, but at least the phone worked. It left us wondering if we were first given a subpar room because of our age. Even after switching rooms, the staff remained hostile. Every time we passed the front desk, they glared at us. We weren’t the only ones either—another guest showed us his room where black dust and mold blew out of the AC, the towels were filthy, and the tub was clogged with hair. We loved this place! Close to different restaurants and shopping. Loved walking around and staff were very friendly and professional. Only thing we didn’t appreciate was the sun coming into the room as early as 6am because the blackout “blind/curtain” was not brig enough for the window. We were forced to be up by 7am. Everything else was great.. we loved it! The receptionist who checked us in was b nice and pleasant to us. Highly recommended

I love the Nassau for its location and historic charm, but my recent visit was not up to standard. The hotel room was so noisy - I was away from the elevators at least but had constant noise from neighboring rooms and doors shutting. I also had an issue with black gunk coming up through the sink twice during my stay.

The only one staff (a gentleman) who served at the front desk on the morning of July 8, was absent from the front desk for 15 minutes and he was very impolite when he returned the front desk for my checking out.

Staff at front desk was rude

I stayed three nights at the Nassua Inn. During that time, no one at the desk said, "good morning" or "good night." I was never acknowledged or told about the hotel's amenities. The cleaning staff was wonderful, however, and did a great job of cleaning my room.

We loved every second of our stay at the Nassau Inn. The staff at the front desk was super friendly and made us feel so welcome. We also appreciated the free cookies! They were delicious. We enjoyed a quick drink at the Yankee Doodle Taproom where the bartender was super friendly and engaged with us the whole time. Everything was just perfect. We even asked a staff member at the front desk if they could take a quick photo of us and they immediately obliged. Those little details were so important to making our stay great!

The bartender (male) was rude and the front desk staff was ambivalent. The bellman was wonderful and kind, with a quick smile.

We love Nassau Inn. The location is central and it's such a comfotable, homey hotel.

History is way over-rated and the room certainly over-priced at today's Nassau Inn. The hotel is old and beat up with sun peaking through holes in the curtain in the room. The food in the Yankee Doodle Tap Room was poor - - the fatty chunk of pork called "bacon" in an appetizer was the same in the brisket sandwich. We wanted to stay across from the Princeton University campus and that's perhaps the only positive from our stay.

Great spot - Grab a Guinness at the bar while looking at an original mural from Norman Rockwell - Great coffee shops around the corner. Princeton 5 minute walk. Perfect

The NASSAU Inn is a beautiful old property restored over the years. The location is wonderful, right in the center of Princeton and right across from the University. As with any older property there are some maintenance issues but nothing major. The restaurant is full of Princeton University memorabilia and has tables that were carved in hundreds of years ago. It’s comfortable and the food is pretty good. All in all, it’s a good place to stay for a visit to Princeton.

The hotel was excellent, would love to have been there longer. The room service was ok - we didn't get enough silverware nor napkins even though we expressed that there were two people staying in the room (two sets of silverware, etc.). This happened twice, and half my breakfast was forgotten as well and they had to come back.
