Holiday Inn Express Harrisburg East by IHG

We were very disappointed. They were short handed often, so we didn’t get our rooms cleaned like we should have. We had to bag up our own trash and send it out. Nobody did any cleaning or making of the bed. At one point I request our sheets get changed due to my child having a minor accident. (A small spot was slightly wet.. but nobody came and changed it. I specifically got this hotel because it had a pool. The pool was closed the whole week we were there due to the person being on vacation. We didn’t have ice most of the days because the machines were down. Very disappointing and we couldn’t go there again. I would love atleast a partial refund because I booked 2 rooms for a week.

Upon arrival the hotel had a busy line for checking in, I was asked to present my id and credit card for accidentals. I gave the required information. Only to later see via my banking app I was charged by hotels.com and also the same fee from Holiday Inn Express. I called to speak with the manager after speaking with my bank, was told I could receive a call back and never did. The room was average, broken usb outlets, the elevator floor is due to be replaced along with being out of inspection. The breakfast staff was rude..

Elevator was broken. Staff was friendly and as accommodating as possible. Building was dated and unclean. Bathroom cleanliness was fair and lacked items. Bed was comfortable. I've stayed at a few different Holiday Inn Express's. This one was in the poorest condition.

Elevator was broken at check-in so we had to carry luggage up stairs. Pancake maker and juice dispensers were broken for breakfasts.

The parking area was very well lite. I'm a woman and I felt very safe.

I thought I was safe going with Holiday Inn. How ever this place in very dirty. Everything is broken and run down. It was like 100 degrees pool was out of service for 4 days of our stay. Still out of service when we left. Dryer is broken. Oven was broken. Rugs in room are so dirty you couldn’t go bare foot. The people running the hotel are very nice and trying to get things back in control. We happened to go at a bad time.

The staff were friendly, especially check in. Pool wasn’t clean, the tubs went slow- hair clog, good breakfast. Beds are comfy.

While the front desk was friendly, the only elevator was not clean, the hallway floor was dirty, the shower curtain had mold, and then, the elevator was out of service. We had to use the stairway which was also dirty. I do not recommend this hotel.

The pool was covered in empty alcohol nips/bottles which attracted ants and flys! The railings were lose and broken off from the pool stairs. Dirty used bandages in and around the pool. Inside the hotel the carpets were dirty and had trash everywhere. The was hair all over the bathroom sink and shower. Trash underneath the sink, trash in the dressers from previous guest. Bathtub was clogged and backed up. Toilets wouldn’t flush. Breakfast area was small, almost all chairs were ripped or had holes in them. Pancake machine wasn’t working , food was cold and soggy/greasy. Staff was No where to be found half the time or constantly outside smoking. Entire place smelled of weed. Overall this place SUCKED!!!!!!

Liked location. The elevator was not working and had to work up stairs. Check-in clerk not very helpful or empathetic.

The hotel is old and doesn’t look like the photos. The room felt damp at all times and the air conditioner was loud and noisy. The bathroom was small and moldy. The fan in the ceiling of the bathroom was petrifying out of the curling tiles. Housekeeping were slow and would be finishing up late at night. I dont recommend this hotel at all. I would have tried to switch hotels but nothing was available around the area.

Room had bed bugs, me and both my kids got bit up by bed bugs

Room smelled moldy, we had to go buy an air freshener as they were no other rooms for us. The bathtub had mold around the tub and shower head was covered in mold as well. When you turn the water hotter it squealed. The one time was broken when you walked in the door and lifted when you stepped on it. Breakfast was awful, unless you like flimsy turkey bacon or eggs laying in water. Juice machine and pancake machine were both broken.

Found two roaches in the bathroom!

Hotel was older, staff was not friendly to kids, had two roaches in our bathroom.

I found 3 small roaches in the room throughout my stay. The bathroom sink kept getting clogged. The towels were very thin and frayed. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was convenient for our trip to Hershey park.

Bathroom was disgustingly dirty black mold around tub. Box spring had stains on side that were visible. No issues with staff very friendly.

Clean, quiet, comfortable and modern.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. From the moment I walked in, there was a terrible odor, the carpets and furniture were stained, and the rooms felt dirty and neglected. Even the chairs in the dining area were torn. It’s clear this place is long overdue for a deep cleaning and a full renovation. To be fair, the omelette at breakfast was decent and they do provide Dove shampoo and conditioner, but that’s about the only salvageable thing I can say. Otherwise, this property does not live up to the Holiday Inn name or franchise expectations. I will not be staying here again.

The room was clean and presentable. My main complaint would be that the outlet and USB plugs under the TV and between the beds were worn out and in need of replacement.

The bed was far too high. Had to ask for a step ladder to get in and out of bed. The room was clean and in good order. The breakfast buffet was great. Every staff member was friendly and helpful.

The front desk people were very nice, which is one of the only reasons I am giving 3 stars.. The beds were good also, but rooms were horrible because of poor lighting and almost none of the outlets worked.

Noisy from other guests and their pets.

We have stayed in many Holiday Inn expresses and most of them have been modernized and updated. This one, Looks like it needs to be improved as far as carpets and bathroom facility. The free morning breakfast was adequate, but not especially good with very cramped conditions for the food service line and confusing as far as flow of traffic. The king size bed was absolutely the most comfortable one we’ve experienced. The only drawback was that it was a bit high to climb in and out of. I would think older couples would have a very difficult time climbing into bed.

Decent but very small dining area for breakfast and small bathroom in the small room.

Price was reasonable and breakfast offerings were above average. Beds are a bit high for a short person to climb into.

Very old hotel

NO one was at the desk. I even called the property. Got voice mail. People had key problems and were waiting. Finally discovered a key with my name on it on the desk. There ought to be a way to find someone.

This hotel was clean and staff was the best I look forward to staying again.

They said they don’t take locals but they took my money off my card premature/way before I checked in. Now it’s taking days for them to return my money!! HORRIBLE!!

It was fine. The check in process was a bit long and when I got to the room the cards did not work.

When I got there they told me they had overbooked and told me that it wasn’t their problem. They refused to answer the phones when Expedia attempted to call them to see what was happening. I was then told they would call the police on me if I didn’t leave the hotel. I refused to leave because I was with my young child and had no where to go.

I didn’t even get to check in. I was told at the front desk that my reservation was canceled by them because they don’t “rent out rooms to locals.” Nobody emailed me or called me to tell me this before I wasted my time. The person at the front desk wasn’t very personable and I came in with a smile on my face. I got this place just to stay away from my home for a couple days due to being in call for work and my house is loud with my teenagers on their video games. It was a terrible experience and waste of my time.

Spacious room, fabulous breakfast, staff was extremely friendly! I will definitely stay here again!

Staff exceptional; friendly, competent. helpful. Only problem was door to the room which was faulty, not fitting well, had to slam it hard to get it shut.

The location was easy to find and well lit and clean. It felt safe. Great front desk people and amenities, like coffee and cokies. Facility is in need of deep cleaning in the lobby and guest corridors. Room was clean and quiet.

I rather sleep in the car next time. Hotel was super Dirty and room was old and outdated. The bathroom shower was clogged and the response I received is no one from maintenance working and we have no rooms available. Morning breakfast all available was muffins and cereal and lady was assigned to the breakfast area was super rude when another customer asked her if the waffle machine maker was broken.Just book a somewhere else save the hassle

Ovens were broken in the morning, so we had no hot breakfast. I was given the Assistant Manager’s info and I emailed and called, but no response after a week. I would pick a different hotel.

The breakfast was disappointing. The omelettes were overcooked, the biscuits were dried out, and there was no orange juice available.

As a club member of Holiday Inn, I chose this location for a quick overnight stop on our way back to Canada after a long road trip. I had stayed at other Holiday Inn Express hotels throughout the journey, all of which offered much better experiences. Sadly, this particular location was a major letdown, we noticed the hotel looked outdated and neglected. The entire property is clearly in need of significant renovations. When we entered our room, we were immediately hit with a strong, unpleasant odor — a mix of humidity and old furniture. It was the kind of smell that lingers and makes you uncomfortable staying in the space. Cleanliness was a major issue. The room had clearly not been properly cleaned. Dust was visible on surfaces. We weren’t the only ones having issues; another family on our floor told us their room was even worse and advised us to check everything before unpacking. They ended up asking for a room change. Breakfast the next morning continued the disappointing trend. The juice machine was broken, and there was no orange juice available. The pancake machine,one of the highlights at other Holiday Inn Express locations was out of service, with a filthy belt that clearly hadn’t been cleaned or maintained in a long time. When we went for coffee, it tasted burnt and old. Most of the chairs and tables were scratched, damaged, or wobbly. In short, this hotel did not deliver the quality or comfort you expect from the Holiday Inn 3-star, felt more like a 1- to 2-star

Greeted amazingly when we checked in. Housekeeping was very consistent in it rounds. Breakfast was a great perk

Customer service was great, very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was nice and hot and had a variety of things to eat.
